Young Global Leaders Program

INTRODUCTION The Young Global Leaders Program is InterMind Global LLP’s maiden project. YGLP was started to aid students in becoming confident leaders in our increasingly competitive world. We want to share or knowledge and experience to enable them to emerge as effective orators. Great leaders do many things, but one of their most characteristic feature is their ability to inspire the people around them. This comes with effective communication skills. History teaches us that the world’s greatest leaders are exceptional communicators, they charm their audience and motivate them by their eloquence.

At InterMind Global we provide the perfect opportunity for students to understand their leadership roles and skills. Our expert trainers will prepare them to be better public speakers which will boost their confidence and self-esteem - something that is very crucial for young minds. We help them develop strategies and plans that enable them to lead their team and represent their school on various platforms. Our programs are planned to provide them with a unique experience where they will receive training in leadership, critical thinking, team building and more importantly understanding their own potential as leaders.

THE STRUCTURE

The program works best for students from class 7 onwards. Minimum of 200 students will be required for the course to be extremely interactive. The Program consists of a total of 16 Sessions, each lasting upto 1 hour. There will be one dedicated trainer for each batch. We will also provide study materials and information. After the sessions are completed, a mock debate or MUN will be conducted depending on the convenience of the school. This will encourage the students to improve their skills.

We believe that the best way to learn something is by making it enjoyable and interesting. We will conduct presentations and lectures, but along with that we will have interactive sessions, mock simulations of the UN, other international bodies and even the Indian Parliament. We will also focus on research skill development. Through our sessions students will become more confident of themselves, they will be able to critically analyse situations and will also become better team players. Our sessions are designed to also increase the awareness students have with respect to our country and the world. All these will help them in their future when they apply to colleges, for higher education and in their career. We will also credit the students with a Certification of Completion.

TOOLS Model UN (MUN) is an Academic Simulation of the United Nations where students take up the role of a delegate. Harvard University was the one that initiated this and still hosts Model UN Competitions are the world. This has been widely accepted to be great tool for learning. We won’t just focus on the procedures used in MUNs. We focus on making every student a better delegate by teaching them the right balance between procedural knowledge and debating techniques.

THE PROCESS

Parliamentary Debates (PD) is another interesting form of debate where students form two teams and each team will consist of three speakers having individual roles. They critically analyse the motion given to them and make 7 minute speeches in a structured format. The motion is usually of high social relevance. This is a valuable tool used to teach them speech drafting. It will also help them increase their awareness of the reality that surrounds us. Students will be taught to draft policies on key issues and made to defend the policy. This will be key socials issues in dispute. Students will be taught to draft a policy and will also be cross questioned on the same. This practice has been widely accepted by a lot of Ivy Leagues to be the best method to analyse key global issues in a fun way.
