wonder why What gives our beach sand its brilliant white color? It’s primarily composed of nearly 100% white quartz. Certain areas of the pristine sandy beaches, particularly near the dunes, boast such immaculate sand that it emits a distinctive “squeak” or “chirp” when stepped on just right. This peculiar phenomenon occurs only with dry sand. Interestingly, even on scorching summer days, the white sand remains pleasantly cool to the touch.
