Legacy is the lifeblood of tourism. Legacy works. Family legacy shows pride. Legacy in a pizzeria cannot be beat. Once upon a time a pizza grew into a deep-rooted tradition in Wisconsin Dells for feeding those cheese-obsessed, locals and waterpark, hunger-stricken tourists. As the love for all things delicious grew, PIZZA PUB continued to make their pizzas from scratch and fresh daily, never compromising on quality. The dough, the sauce, and all the other special ingredients in the recipe have been passed down and been within the walls of the restaurant since 1893. Again we say, legacy. Just as their 50 item soup and salad bar grew, so did their delivery radius — truly the only company willing to go the literal longest mile to make sure that their pizza pies (and everything else on the menu) arrive at both your hotel room AND front door.

A Story Worth Telling From the desire of wanting a better neighborhood for their kids, immigrant Demetrios “Jim” Laskaris moved his wife and two kids to Wisconsin Dells. The family left behind their hot dog shop in Chicago which in the end, birthed a theme park unlike no other. Early on, when their relocation for their business endeavor seemed to be failing, the family packed their things to return to the Windy City only to find a sock filled with $700 cash that pivoted this plan. With the new money in tow, the Laskaris family

It was always Greek from the start. With risk, cancer, expansions, more risks, passion, and doing what no one has done before all being part of the story.
continued to run their hot dog joint which led them to their first go-kart track where father and son began building and maintaining the vehicles. The son was completely go-kart obsessed and built an empire (that started as Big Chief and one that we now know as MT. OLYMPUS WATER & THEME PARK) from those original designs engineered with his dad. That son is Nick Laskaris, owner of a multi-million dollar property and he has a story worth reading. There’s more to the Laskaris family than the number of rooms they operate, rollercoasters they’ve built or “firsts” they’ve pioneered. A mission has always been etched between the familial crew to serve the city, delight people from all over — both international students who work to fuel the business and guests who visit — and do big things in honor of the man who started it all. Like a cat with nine lives, Nick has looked cancer square in the face twice, had a heart operation, raised his two girls with pride for the business, all while continuing to love his bride, Eva, who pioneered everything at his side all those years and into today. And the best is yet to come for the Laskaris family with 50 years under their belts.

Olympus has announced that they will be hotel guest-exclusive this summer — only allowing those who stay with them to indulge at the park, an expected reduction of occupancy by 50%.
