Green Bay is nicknamed the “Toilet Paper Capital” of the World. Your bottom can thank them. The city produced the first splinter-free toilet paper. Even today the paper industry is “on a roll” as it remains one of the largest employers in Wisconsin.

JUST MY TYPE

The first commercially viable typewriter was created in 1868. A major contributor to its design was a Wisconsinite named Christopher Latham Sholes. Christopher was a newspaper printer and editor who invented the QWERTY keyboard for use in the typewriter. This keyboard layout is still in use in many modern applications today.

HOP TO IT

In 1960, Wally Mohrman, invented the rope jump and put Bloomer on the map as the “Rope Jump Capital of the World”. He designed it as a winter competition for kids in first grade to middle school to see who could jump the rope the most in 10 seconds. Shortly after this, rope jumping gained worldwide fame.
