Greetings! The month of May featured two major events; the 15th Annual Bear Trace Golf Classic and the 32nd Franklin County Chamber Manufacturer’s Appreciation Luncheon and several other activities. May was a productive month. Through your investments, you are a vital part of making it all happen. The Bear Trace Golf Classic began with lunch and tee off at 1pm. Teams merged from Ypsilanti, Michigan, Normandy, Nashville, Franklin County and surrounding region for a full day on the course. Photos of winners and the day are in this issue of the Franklin Times. Congratulations Jim Cortner, Tournament Chair, Charles Spaulding, Vice Chair, Dave Van Buskirk, Stacy Mooney, Carol Fulmer & Mike Cunningham on a quality event. The 32nd Annual Manufacturer’s Appreciation Luncheon was held at San Miguel’s Coffee Company. The luncheon was a perfect way to express our appreciation to industry leaders and express gratitude to every industry in Franklin County. Another great turnout with 153 guest and 64 industry representatives from our industries. John McCardell, Vice Chancellor and President, The University of the South, provided a motivating speech and shared that “in similar capacities we all produce a product.” The University produces students and we have a responsibility to teach, educate and produce the best product possible, a well prepared workforce. Each manufacturing guest was presented a stainless steel grill set, coffee mug and a Home Depot bucket. An Italian fest was served by Lucia & Zach Rowe. All of this was possible thanks to our members and sponsors, listed in this newsletter. Manufacturers Appreciation event Chair Co-Chairs Chip Manning and Daryl Doney planned an outstanding event. The Nickajack Welcome Center is one of 18 Tennessee welcome centers. May also is Tennessee Tourism month. Chambers across the state were requested to take one day, the first week of May, set up a display and greet visitors traveling through our state. Your staff spent Friday, May the 9th at the Nickajack Welcome center. Non stop visitors strolled through the welcome center. Also, as it just happened, it was graduation weekend for the University of the South. May 18th, 19th & 20th was RECon, the International Council of Shopping Centers Trade show held at the Las Vegas Conference Center. President Dave Van Buskirk, Past President Troy Brown and I attended the conference. RECon is the global convention for the shopping center industry. Recon provides networking, deal making and educational opportunities for retail real estate professionals around the world. With over 32,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors it was the largest industry convention, making it an unparalleled opportunity to do a year’s worth of business in just three days! We met retailers to discuss new and available properties in Franklin County. The three of us, attended the Trustees Breakfast and in an interactive, roundtable setting providing the perfect opportunity to discuss, what retailers and developers are looking for and how to attack their attention. In our presentation packet we identified all available properties, current retail, county and regional demographics. We met with our consultant the Buxton Group and 15 identified

Ah-CHOO! The grass is green, pollen counts are high, and many people are battling the itchy eyes and runny noses that result from seasonal allergies. Did you know that grass and pollen can bother your pets, too? Unlike people, most dogs and cats who have allergies don’t cough or sneeze—usually, pets get itchy skin. If your dog grooms his feet like a cat, he may actually have itchy feet due to allergies! Other dogs may get itchy bellies or faces, while cats often become itchy all over. Some pets may develop skin infections from all the itching and scratching, and can lose patches of fur, or develop a rash or sores. If you suspect your pet may be itching due to allergies, it is important to see your vet to check for skin infection also. Allergies in pets cannot be cured, but they can be managed. Treatments can include medicated shampoos, nutritional supplements, antihistamines, prescription medications, or immunotherapy. Your veterinarian can guide you to what allergy management plan is best for your pets. Call us today!
