Board Member of the Month Susan Askew, Associate Vice President for Alumni and Parent Programs at the University of the South, has served as a Board Member for 3 years Fun Facts about Susan: • • • • •

She has lived in Sewanee for 20 years with her husband Bob. One son named Spears that’s 14, and in 8th grade at Saint Andrews Sewanee School. Loves to play tennis, listen to podcast, loves a fire in the fireplace on a cold Winter day, and double stuffed Oreos. Terrified of spiders Favorite thing about Franklin County (hard to name just one) is the people.

Why is she a Chamber member? - “As the former Executive Director of the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, I understand how important the work of the Chamber and its members are. When I was asked to be on the Board as a representative for the University of the South, I was so excited to become a part of it!”

Ambassador of the Month Kevin Wiseman, Volunteer Firefighter/Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, has been an Ambassador for 5 years. Fun Facts about Kevin: • Enjoys the outdoors • Enjoys swimming, hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. Why is he a Chamber Member? Southern TN Regional Health System Southern Tennessee Regional Health System announced the addition of Carolyn Cardwell Sparks to the leadership team. Ms. Sparks has been named Assistant Administrator of Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Sewanee effective January 31, 2019. “We are proud to welcome Carolyn to the Winchester/Sewanee team, said Russ Spray, CEO. She comes to us with not only an extensive healthcare background but with experience with LifePoint. She shares in our values and will greatly contribute to our mission of Making Communities Healthier.” Ms. Sparks joined LifePoint Health in 2013 and has served in many leadership roles. Sparks began her career in administration at Raleigh General Hospital in West Virginia. Subsequently, she worked closely with key service lines including Cardiovascular, Outpatient Imaging and the Emergency Department in her role as Assistant Administrator of Clinical Operations at LifePoint. She also served as Assistant Administrator for LifePoint’s Central Group supporting quality, operations and growth for 22 hospitals across the company. Ms. Sparks received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary with a major in Economics and later a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ms. Sparks is a Lean Healthcare Certificate Series completer, member of ACHE, Member of Leadership Healthcare and Co-Chair of LifePoint United Way. She and her husband, Kyle are looking forward to joining the community. “I am most excited to join the team at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System to serve our communities and patients, said Sparks. My goal is to support the talented staff and leadership in our commitment to deliver high quality, compassionate care.”
