Another busy month filled with a variety of opportunities! One of our favorite events is

new member orientation. We have 47 new members for 2014 and enjoyed the opportunty to present the “Value of Chamber Membership”. On Tuesday the 22nd your Chamber staff and our president Dave Van Buskirk held a new member orientation at the Chamber. This was the perfect opportunity to ensure new members are taking advantage of every benefit offered. Attending were representatives from Less-Lee Printing Company, Martin Methodist College, Tims Ford Bass Club, TransAmerican Agency and Belles & Beaus. A few of the member benefits are listed below. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Volunteer committees contribute their time and expertise to Chamber programs and initiatives, while developing new skills, leadership training and networking COUNTY MAPS The Chamber publishes a detailed map that is ideal to help newer residents or visitors in getting acclimated. Dr. Tinch, who studied Geology as an undergraduate, has a love for the outdoors, especially the mountains. She and her husband, Kevin, enjoy hiking, gardening and other outdoor activities. “I feel very fortunate to be able to reside in such a beautiful area of Tennessee. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the community and serving the citizens of Franklin County,” says Dr. Tinch.

Dr.

Tinch completed medical school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She completed her residency at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She also has a Masters degree in Public Health. Dr. Tinch is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

As an Occupational Medicine provider, Dr. Tinch focuses on the health of workers, including the ability to perform work; the physical, chemical, biological, and social environments of the workplace; and the health outcomes of environmental exposures. Providers in this field address the promotion of health in the work place, and the prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness, and disability.1 Dr. Tinch works closely with the Wellness Works program at Southern Tennessee Medical Center to provide the best possible care to the workforce in our community. Each participant will become involved in several civic/volunteer organizations. The monthly sessions focus on a major area of community concern and explore the issue of leadership within the context of the day’s subject. Topics include: • Leadership Skills • Courts and Public Safety • Franklin County History & Education • Community Needs and Services • Local Government • State Government • Economic & Community Dev.
