Greetings! 2013 is quickly coming to a close and it has been another incredible year.
Coming Soon….
The final touches are being completed in the Chamber Business Directory and on behalf of your staff, “thank you” to each of you for your support and participation in the 20132014 Business Directory and Economic Guide.
Plans are underway for this year’s annual banquet and our theme is “All About YOU”….You our members! Member Investments truly are the engine of economic growth! Without membership investments, the Leadership Circle of supporters, and event supporters, the collective voice and programs of the Chamber would not exist! The Annual Membership and Awards Banquet will once again be in Sewanee at Cravens Hall. Entry will be on the upper level adjacent to the parking lot between the Tennessee Williams Theatre and Cravens Hall. Tom and Becky Brown owners of Beans Creek Winery will host the wine tasting and social time beginning at 5:30pm. Dinner will be served at 6pm to make the evening more enjoyable. The evening is “All About YOU”, our members. An evening of appreciation, accountability for 2013 accomplishments and change
of leadership. Banquet Chairman Ernie Williams, Rogers Group and his committee; Charles Spaulding—American City Bank, Eddie Moffitt—Elk River Public Utility District and Jim Harmon—The Monteagle Inn are working hard to make this year’s banquet an evening to remember! Invitations will be mailed next week and reservations are now being taken! Seating will be limited so call today and reserve your table. A fun festive evening and the traditional holiday opening event on Tuesday, December 3rd is fast approaching. The Chamber board of directors will be setting the program of work for the new year. One of the programs to be continued is the Retire Tennessee Program. I will be attending two Ideal Living Trade Shows recruiting retirees to move to Franklin County and to our great state in February of 2014. Most people tend to think that traditional retirement communities are centered in Florida, Arizona, and the Carolinas. However, recent surveys released by Ideal Living and AARP break the mold, showing that states like Tennessee needs to be taken seriously as top retirement destinations. One great thing about their list is, it has changed significantly from previous years. There are 41 new communities on the 2013 list (there were 31 new ones in 2012), which is regarded as a great thing– the more communities for their members to consider for their retirements, the better! Tennessee enjoys a reputation as a tax friendly state with a lower cost of living than states on either coasts. It could be that as baby boomers face reality about their retirement portfolios they are being more financially realistic about where to retire. Go to retiretennessee.org and check out the Retire Tennessee Program! Franklin County is proud to be a Retire Tennessee Community. Your investments make this possible! The list of board members on the front page of the Franklin Times are professionals of the highest caliber, that volunteer their valuable time to continue to keep Franklin County in the forefront of every economic opportunity. They work hard assisting in the development of a strong workforce for the manufacturing and business needs of our community, creating a great place to live, work and play!

Storage Central Franklin County Dan & Arlene Barry Family Partners: Ryan & Lydia Barry / Evan Barry / Nick & Lindsey Barry / Hannah Barry
1516 Blue Springs Road Decherd, TN 37324 931-967-5682 or 931-598-5682
Pictured Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Judy Taylor, Joann Coutta, Sherry Price, Decherd Mayor Robin Smith, Owners Arlene, Evan, Dan, Ryan, (baby) Sophia, and Lydia Barry, Juanita Barry, Nelson Hatchett, Lee McFarland, Sharon Kilby, Nancy Hibler and Jim Penland. Kneeling is Gene Snead, Sandra Thomas, John Shelton and Cassidy Barry. Back row June Skidmore. Skyping from Argentina is daughter and partner Hannah Barry. Dan and Arlene Barry have been providing quality storage in Franklin County for the past 26 years. They have now launched a new storage facility at 1516 Blue Springs Road, Decherd 37324 along with their partners Ryan and Lydia Barry, Evan Barry, Nick and Lindsey Barry, and Hannah Barry. It is conveniently located at the corner of Blue Springs Rd and the 4 lane bypass right beside Nissan Manufacturing. This facility is a culmination of many years of experience to create a hassle free experience for customers who range from homeowners storing their household and garage possessions to commercial interests that need extra space storing records and products to sell. This is a gated, 24 hour video monitored, excellently lighted, individually coded access facility with 10,000 square feet of climate control storage that is patrolled daily and monitored for the correct temperature and humidity. In addition to this there are several regular storage units that are insulated in all the walls with a door that accesses to a sheltered breezeway that allows customers to work around bad weather. Storage Central also provides a wide variety of moving supplies. This modern facility is the second compound in Franklin County for Dan and Arlene with the other being Sewanee Mountain Storage located between Sewanee and Monteagle. Storage Central is designed for straight-line access where no unit is over 50 feet from the coded access door with no corners to turn. All energy conscious lighting is either motion activated or on timers and the building is designed where the insulated outside units provide extra insulation for the climate control units creating an energy efficient design. The building actually sits on the recycled dirt and rubble of the Old Franklin County High School. Each person attending the ribbon cutting was given a brick from the old school building. “We are proud to have been servicing the people of Franklin County for the last 26 years in the storage business and we feel that our new facility positions us in a central location with plenty of room to accommodate all sizes of moving vans including tractor-trailer trucks. We provide a full range of packing supplies and references for professional movers and we are here to show you our facility any time you wish. Just call 967-5682 and make a personal appointment at your convenience. We know that the moving experience is filled with a tremendous amount of stress and work. Providing storage to our customer base is our only business and we are here to make storage the easiest part of your move.” Says Dan Barry.
