Connections! Often Chamber Mixers are known as social events and that is true however the main objective is networking and connecting! As a member your Chamber provides you an opportunity at monthly “Chamber Connections”. Socializeng, meet new contacts, make deals and “connect” with fellow members. Our first Chamber Connection was sponsored and hosted by Dianna Gupton, Marketing & Sales Director at the Sewanee Inn, “ A True Gem” in our county! With approximately 130 attending, there was a lot of connections made leading to increased business sales and awareness.
Career Quest As I type this article the final plans are underway for the 2nd Annual Career Quest for Franklin County 8th Graders. Scheduled for February 6th at North Middle School the numbers are in! Each student chose 3 careers. Professionals are in place to host three 30 minute sessions with students. The top career choice is Medical/Nursing with (149) students. The next issue will have a complete report of the day, speakers, professionals & all that participate! Special thanks to Stanley Bean, North Jr. High School Principal, for opening North Middle School for the Quest. Students have prepared questions to ask, and they are eager to talk with an actual professional in the field in which they are interested.

23rd Annual Business Expo Plans are well underway by EXPO Chairman Sam Henley, Vice Chair Steve Moran and committee members: Stanley Bean and Thomas Ore. March 26th the 23rd Annual Franklin County Chamber BIZ EXPO will be at our new location, North Middle School on Decherd Boulevard where there is more visibility and easy access. Thirty booths are already sold. Sam Henley, Chair commented, “the
layout will be posted the first week of February, thanks to Thomas Ore and his expertise in completing the design for the EXPO.” Those pre-registered will be emailed the layout as soon as it is released by the committee. All details will be posted on the Chamber website www.franklincountychamber.com by February 9th. As you can see February is off to a fast pace, with the Career Quest, Leadership Franklin County, and EXPO plans.
Retire Tennessee Featured on Tennessee Department of Economic Development HotSheet! Retire Tennessee participates in five EXPOS and we are represented at two of those EXPOS.. In January I attended my first show in Long Island, New York at the Ideal Living Trade Show in Huntington. What an incredible honor to be in the State of Tennessee Booth among major developers from Hilton Head, Fairfield Glades, etc. Selling the state of Tennessee and Franklin County as one of 16 best places to retire. We actually have a long line of retirees waiting to visit the Tennessee booth to talk to the Tennessee ladies! According to EXPO officials it was the busiest show since 2007, drawing more than 2,000 visitors. Check out the newly launched Retire Tennessee web site www.retiretennessee.org. Next week I will be traveling to Rochester, Michigan for my second Ideal Living Resort & Retirement EXPO.
Franklin County Manufacturers’ Roundtable Members met in January to plan for the upcoming year. The next meeting is scheduled for February 26th. The meeting will be closed to visitors for the first few months to allow time for discussion on workforce issues and plans for 2015.

Roderick B. Meese, MD Interventional Cardiology Dr. Roderick Meese is a board certified interventional cardiologist. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and completed his residency at the University of Texas – Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Meese fulfilled his Cardiology Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He is an Assistant Consulting Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and has participated in numerous research projects throughout his career. Dr. Meese practiced cardiology in Tyler, Texas for more than 25 years before relocating to Franklin County. He is excited to be an integral part of our interventional cardiology program here in Winchester. He will serve as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at STRHS – Winchester. Dr. Meese specializes in the early detection of cardiac and vascular disease, and uses minimallyinvasive techniques for diagnosis and treatment. HANNAH CAMPBELL 2014 PP&K NATIONAL CHAMPION 2nd Place—6 & 7 Year Old Girls Hannah Campbell won the Broadview Elementary PPK competition in late September. This qualified her for the PPK sectional competition in Chattanooga. She went to Chattanooga in November and won her age division. Each sectional winner advanced to Nashville to compete at the State PPK competition at the Titans indoor facility. She won the Titans State PPK competition. Her score was entered as a state winner into the National Competition which included all 32 NFL Teams. The top four in each age group (male and female) advance to the National PPK Competition representing your home town team. Hannah was one of the Top 4 in her age division. She went to the NFL National PPK National Championship in Seattle at the Seahawks Indoor facility this past Saturday. She finished in 2nd place in her division in the National Championship. She was very excited.
