festival is proud to announce the return of the children’s area, Davy’s “Create & Take”. Come create a piece of art, a rocket and take a treasure home with you! Industries and businesses in Franklin County are coming together to stimulate the importance of learning math and science. All ages are welcome to experience the fun and excitement of Davy’s “Create & Take” at the 31st Annual Polly Crockett Festival. Other attractions at the festival include A Living History of Tennessee, complete with Civil War Camp, period dress, and Polly’s Skillet Toss. Polly’s Farm will have animals to pet and horses to ride. Kids will receive free balloons at Polly’s Balloon Stop. Take a break and climb aboard Kenneth Clark’s classy buggy for a tour of historic downtown Cowan. A unique addition this year the Boy Scout Regatta with 9 groups participating. A few of the activities they have planned are: Cub Scout Cooking Demonstration, Knot Tying, Bike Safety, Food Pyramid Display, Indian Craft, Pioneer Project Cowboy Cooking Demonstration, lots of handouts and treats. More activities to be announced. The Dunking Booth will be back and Davy’s Calaboose with warrants issued for only $5.00. Of course it would not be a festival without Funnel Cakes and Kettle Corn. A fun packed weekend with lots to do.

Each year the Polly Crockett & Tennessee History Festival has grown and expanded to have families travel from all around the region to this unique festival. The festival honors the Pioneer Spirit of Davy Crockett & his wife Polly and the History of Tennessee. The theme for the festival is “Behind every great man is a enterprising woman.” Dave Van Buskirk Chairman for this years festival expressed that he is anticipating a return of last years 90 vendors specializing in arts & crafts. The This & That Marketplace welcomes vendors with commercial products. The festival opens Friday afternoon with the majority of vendors arriving Friday morning and the remainder will be set up by 8am Saturday morning ready for the weekend festivities. The Polly Crockett Festival is a celebration of Tennessee History, handmade crafts, local talent and youth activities focused on learning. This year the

Providing participants with practical understanding of how existing institutions in the county function and interact. 3. Providing participants with a diversity of leadership skills training. ABOUT THE PROGRAM The program is for adults who work or live in Franklin County and for juniors who attend school in Franklin County. Leadership Franklin County consists of an orientation, a retreat in September and six topic-oriented day-long sessions from September to February with Graduation in February. Each participant will become involved in several civic/volunteer organizations. The monthly sessions focus on a major area of community concern and explore the issue of leadership within the context of the day’s subject. Topics include:    

A&E Emergency Services A group of Business Professionals and Sheriff Tim Fuller & Police Chief Dennis Young are working together to solicit support to purchase new automatic Barrett REC7 equipment for the Franklin County S.W.A.T. (Strategic Weapons And Tactics Team). There are 18 police officers on the team consisting of 9 from Winchester and 9 from the county sheriff’s department. As an undergraduate, Dr. Filchock attended the University of the South and graduated from the University of Florida. She completed her medical degree at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences and completed residency in Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Dr. Filchock has two adult children and spends her free time reading, exercising, traveling and enjoying outdoor activities. Dr. Filchock will be relocating to Sewanee from Knoxville later this month. As a Family medicine physician, Dr. Filchock provides continuing, comprehensive health care for the individual and family. Family Medicine is a specialty in breadth that integrates the biological, clinical and behavioral sciences1. Dr. Filchock has over 25 years of experience as a family medicine physician and she is dedicated to providing outstanding care.
