2014 is off to a fast start. Wednesday, January 8th is Leadership Franklin County Courts & Public Safety Day. The day begins at the Tennessee National Guard Armory with a presentation by Major Tommie Stevens, including demonstrations of equipment by military staff. Next a quick walk to the bunker for tours of Emergency Management and the Consolidated Communications Center, followed by presentations from Eric Trussell and Kathy Blazier in the “Briefing” room with overviews of Franklin County’s EMS and 911 Service.

The Career Quest is scheduled for Friday, February 7th , 8 a.m.—2:30 p.m. and we need your help in making this first time event successful.

After a short walk to the Franklin County Jail, for a tour of the jail, we are back to the Armory for presentations by Josh Hunt, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agent, Assistant District Attorney Steve Blount will provide an overview of the Court Process. We will break for lunch and walk to the Franklin County Judicial Center to tour the Judicial Center and presentations by Circuit Court Clerk Robert Baggett, Sheriff Tim Fuller, and Judge Tom Faris. Our day will end with a tour of the Chancery Courtroom and presentation by Chancellor Jeff Stewart. Special thanks to each of the above professionals for taking time to address the 2014 Class of Franklin County Leadership.

March 27th 4p.m. to 8p.m. is the date to mark on your calendar for the 22nd Annual Franklin County Chamber Business EXPO. Our theme this year is “There’s No Business’ Like Your Business”. “This is the perfect time for you to showcase your business” commented, Sam Henley, Chair for the event. Sam along with B.J. Rigsby vice chair are preparing another great event for Franklin County Business Professionals and Organizations on the 27th of March. Registration and information are included in this publication. Reserve you space today. To keep the same space you had in 2013 you must turn your registration form in by Friday, February 7th.

Career Quest The major program Is the Career Quest for Franklin County 8th Graders, hosted by the Franklin County Manufacture's Roundtable and your Chamber and sponsored by the Franklin County Joint Economic & Community Development Board. Special thanks to Sandra Stewart South Jr. High School Principal, Stanley Bean North Jr. High School Principal and Ken Stewart Huntland High

During the event representatives from business and industry will man booths providing information about careers in their fields, and the education and/or training required. Students will have prepared questions to ask, and they are eager to talk with an actual professional in the field in which they are interested. Details are included in this publication.

PHYSICIAN SPOTLIGHT Jolanta Szczarkowska, MD, FAAP A ribbon cutting and community open house was held on December 19 for Dr. Jolanta Szczarkowska, Nurse Practitioner, Sherry Barstad, and the medical staff of Winchester Pediatrics at their brand new office located at 568 Hospital Road in Winchester. Dr. Szczarkowska attended Medical School at the Jagiellonian University of Crakow, Poland and completed her residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan; she is Board Certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University with admitting privileges at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Let us Fly the Flags for you... The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is once again offering Flag Service to Chamber members. This is our 25th year to “Fly Flags” and the Flag Project continues to be successful thanks to you for participating in the past. Chamber Ambassadors, Directors and staff are proud to support this project by hanging the American flag on six holidays a year at various businesses in our community. This is a project that reflects our community’s patriotism and pride, as well as providing funds for our Chamber Program of Work. The cost for Chamber members is $45.00. Purchase two flags and receive a $10.00 discount. Cost for non-members is $80.00 annually. Deadline for 2014 flag service is Thursday, January 31st. This will allow time to prepare the routes.
