Franklin County Chamber 65th Annual Awards & Membership Banquet great success! Franklin County represented at AARC Annual Conference in Hilton Head, SC. WOW! I was extremely proud to represent Franklin County as one of 16 counties out of 95 selected as the best places to retire in Tennessee. Attendees from 10 states and Canada experienced an amazing AARC Conference this year at Hilton Head Island, SC. What a great place to host this conference being it was the first coastal region in the country to recognize the economic benefits of retiree attraction! We heard from experts who have been successful at positioning their niche to best attract retirees and we heard from communities and developments that are on the ground making it happen. Everyone talked about what our communities need to do to successfully recruit boomer retirees. Commissioner of Tourism Susan Whitaker attended the conference and announced a TN partnership between the state tourism program and the retire TN program. A perfect match; retirees are tourist first and at the point of making the choice of were to retire, their best vacations are their first sites to explore for retirement. Below with Commissioner Whitaker are representative at the AARC Conference representing the TN Best places to retire.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

Cravens Hall was decorated with festive plaid ribbon, green garlands, gold bells and lantern candle light. Professionals donated $1,000 in cash, Chamber members contributed 150 door prizes, Wal-Mart contributed the main door prize, Factory Furniture contributed a Curio Cabinet. The theme of the banquet was “All about YOU our members and it truly was an evening about YOU our members and your generosity! A giving community is a growing community! Besides being the opening event for the holiday season, there is always Chamber business to be conducted, this includes among other things a review of the 2013 Program of Work, election of officers and new board members. Also recognition of those that have invested their time and talent. Board of Directors and Ambassadors are listed in this publication. It was also our sad duty to bid farewell to our 2013 President Troy Brown. Troy will serve as our Past President and continue to provide his expertise for another year. The membership also welcomed our incoming 2014 President Dave Van Buskirk. Dave will take the reigns of Chamber as we begin 2014. We will begin the review of the program of work at the December & January board meetings and establish 2014 goals. Your input is important to your board of directors and staff. Call or email or drop by the Chamber with recommendations or suggestions. We are always available to review the program of work. Thank you for your investments which allows our program of work to be broad based from retail development to educational programs developing a better prepared workforce. Together we are a strong enthusiast voice and great things are accomplished.

Thanks again for your support for 2013 and best wishes for a wonderful holiday season.

RELOCATING TO FRANKLIN COUNTY OR PLANNING TO VISIT? Our beautiful area is attracting people from other states by the dozens and a large majority of these inquiries are people wanting to relocate to this area. Some are retirees, some are leaving the hurricanes behind, and some actually go on the internet and pick us out! We seem to have what everyone is looking for!!
