In his key note address for the day, he lauded the accomplishments of various women achievers across the world and how the world is increasingly becoming more sensitive about ensuring inclusion is addressed in every sphere of social and economic activity. With successful milestones being crossed every day, we expect the national launch of the “Hero Job-card App” by end of March, 2018.

Know Your Leadership Mr. Ashok Bhasin (Head – Sales & Customer Care) others once I joined the school. I produced better results and was always among the top students.

What is your passion/motivation towards your work? What excites you towards work? People, people & people- That’s my passion. People as customers, as consumers, as colleagues as teams. Having worked across different cultures and multiple countries, I personally believe in diversity of mind and diversity of thoughts. That is the most important layer of diversity; gender diversity forms the next layer may be. People’s mind is the most important followed by heart; Body is less important I believe. I feel classroom is not a great place to learn. I have done some homeschooling myself. It made me diverse and better than the

I profoundly believe in massive rotations in people’s lives. It gives them both professional & personal exposure. I have myself worked in Supply chain, finance, sales etc. I have worked and lived across Asia, Africa and US. After having worked in diverse functions, it all comes together.

How would you define the success of SCC Function? The success of SCC function lies in its Purpose and to support the business achieve its target. It is also about building and developing our people along with embracing the dealers and their staff as they are the ones who will make a difference. Respect and regard for our people and their inclusivity. Front-end is the most critical aspect of the business followed by the customer (dealer friends) and the consumer.

CAPABILITY BUILDING INITIATIVES Hero4Heroes – Manager Capability Building workshops

I

stage which in turn comprises of two aspects – Survey among the team members and reporting officers of the participating managers & Jury evaluation. While we achieved a commendable response rate of 70% during the survey , the Jury Evaluation for Wave 1 batches was completed on 12th and 13th December 17. Final score for each manager was a combination of survey and jury assessment score.

We recently concluded the program for the next batch of managers – this was a bigger pool and the program ended on a positive note for all. We saw many new and profound initiatives, big and small, that these managers introduced for their teams to create a level of trust and to create a great employee experience!

To re-iterate once again and in a nutshell, UGIFT (a Great Place Research and Consultancy Pvt Ltd concept) is about how to build trust within one’s teams by making each interaction-: U – Unique G – Generous I – Individualized F – Fits the context T – Together The workshop was conducted in two Waves – Wave 1 and Wave 2. Each manager, went through a two day workshop which was conducted by an experienced faculty of Great Places to Work Institute. Each batch was carefully constructed along certain guidelines so that participants can interact freely and derive maximum learning out of it. You can catch a few glimpses below-:

The Jury Evaluation was a rigorous assessment by the panel as they evaluated on the initiatives undertaken by the managers and their plans of sustenance. The day ended with a Recognition Ceremony as all the managers who cleared the assessment were felicitated with Level 3 certification of being a ‘Giftwork Manager’. We also recognized Top Two Managers from each batch! Some glimpses are provided below-:

As this was an intervention program of building manager capability, it consisted of 3 Levels-: Level 1 – the managers had to create at least one action plan around two mandatory focus areas i.e Listening and Developing and one more out of any of the three focus areas of Inspiring / Thanking and Caring. The focus areas were arrived at as a result of several inputs from the survey, FGDs, Appreciative Inquiries (AI) with Leadership team, Culture Audit etc. Level 2 – this was a longer duration of almost three months wherein the managers had to implement their action plans within their teams and record their impact stories. One got to see a lot of interesting and unique initiatives like ‘Chai pe Charcha’, ‘Listening Box’, ‘Humraj’, ‘Barhe Chalo’ and many more – to generate a buzz within their teams and even beyond. Level 3 – the final leg comprises of the assessment

MOTOPASSIONAITE DIARIES @ HERO Sachin Dudeja - Neemrana Plant

I

t’s about the journey, not the destination!” The die-hard biker inside me always held this belief which urged me to venture into my dream expedition in majestic Himalayas. Ladakh: The demography exemplifying picturesque beauty, rustic charm and thrilling nature at its best; the destination I conquered last year. Cruising to the highest motorable road was exhilarating as navigating through treacherous terrains challenged my mental and physical solidity in extreme climatic condition. The passion for biking on the roads less chosen pushed my endurance to an elevated plateau as I realised my internal strength of striking balance fear and temptation. No guts; No Glory!

O

Rohit Kumar Singh – Haridwar Plant

n a serene evening of 17 March 17, when I was sitting beside window of my boat, with the back waters of Alappuzha, slowly rocking my boat I was lost in the thought of concept called life. I had travelled 636 km from Bangalore just too be in this place and yet I felt lost that’s when my inner self realized Life is all about journey, never about the destination. Bike riding was never a passion for me, it was life itself. It isn’t meant to be comfortable, it’s all about mind without fear. Though my bike keeps me firmly grounded it launches me into a dimension where there is no place for fear. I really love to ride my motorcycle. When I want to just get away and be by myself and clear my head, that’s what I do. My bike had taken me to places and has given my soul to experience a spectrum of emotions. While riding on a dusty road, woody forests marine drives or rocky curvy roads, it taught me to move on no matter how less trodden the path is. Mini stops during the journeys give me a chance to meet strangers with surprisingly different dialects and of course different things to tell you.

Siddharth Satish Deshpande – Vadodara Plant

A

s a career introvert, it looked a bit odd for me to buy a motorcycle, especially when one’s only riding experience was three trips from canteen to hostel way back in 2011. I thought it was a monumental waste of time and money. Boy I was wrong! The first ever trip was a 50km trip from dealer to the apartment in temperamental June summer heat. But something changed that day. I began to feel more open, more excited, and happier than I was before. Somehow, the mechanical click of upshifting and feeling the surge of speed throttled adrenaline to max, and then some. And once you get a taste for I, there is no looking back. I still vividly remember the first long trip on my motorcycle. We went to Sardar Sarovar Dam in the midst of blazing heat and torrential downpour in succession. After the trip, I and my pillion rider were left with bent spines and mind numbing pain for reward. But that night, as scrolled through the images of the trip, there was that biker’s epiphany: “It is always the ride, not the destination.”

Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM) and HVSU (Haryana Vishwakarma Skills University) are the State partners for “World Skill Competition” which would be organized in Russia in 2019, for which the preparations are underway with a great deal of vigor and enthusiasm. The Haryana “Zonal Level Skill Competition” is being held in March 2018 and the State Level Skill Competition will be held in April 2018. Our Gurukul enjoys the rare distinction of being selected as the venue for competitions in the two skills of CNC Milling and Mechatronics. Those who clear this round at our Gurukul, may have the honour of showcasing their talent at the International level.

We had two mega events, one was the Family Day on 28th January 2018 which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the employees including Staff and Operators along with their families. The entire plant turned into a razzmatazz of sumptuous eating, good outing with many games, theme stalls, factory tours, topped off with gala stage-events featuring Bollywood celebrities. Second was the Holi Milan on 1st March 2018, wedged between the first and the second shift, where all the employees applied Gulal on each other and had a delicious array of sweets and savouries. All of this, without compromising on production on the shopfloor.

In the journey of health and wellness Dharuhera unit has taken a leap by providing “Health check-up” facility for Operators and also extended this facility for the spouses of Operators at negotiated rates of Rs. 850/- for a battery of over 30 tests.
