Looking at the figures for the entire FY 2017-18, we reported an increase of 9% in the Net Profit and an increase of 13% in the Net Sales compared to the last FY. I’m sure all of us will continue the momentum and work hard towards achieving the vision of our Chairman, MD & CEO. You can read more about the business performance in our CFO’s message. As part of our continuous efforts in building strong in-house leaders across all levels, I am pleased to announce the launch of the 2nd batch of our ‘Women in Leadership’ program for our female employees. The selected 20 participants started their 9-month long journey of this program on 4th of June with an Experiential Learning module in Jaipur. We are also about to start our third batch of Emerging Leader’s Program, our flagship leadership development program aimed at creating future leaders within the organization. We are also taking several steps by reorganizing our structures to make them more agile and lean and further drive integration and synergies within the organization. In order to enhance the employee experience, we launched several new policies like Day Care Policy, Children Employment Policy, Spouse Employment Policy, Employee Volunteering Policy, Employee Referral Scheme etc. along with revising few existing policies such as Domestic & International Travel Policy, Company Car Lease Policy, basis feedback received from all of you. In case you have any feedback related to these policies, please feel free to share your thoughts. You are all aware the most anticipated Global sporting event is currently underway – the FIFA Football World Cup 2018. In order to keep pace with the FIFA fever, we launched ‘FIFA Fridays’ across all our locations. Many of our employees also won an opportunity to experience the adrenaline charged games, LIVE, in Russia. We also gave an opportunity to our employees’ wards and a selected few got the opportunity to watch the FIFA matches LIVE in Russia. We also recently celebrated ‘Kids Day Out’ for our employees’ wards. The celebration was themed around FIFA several activities were 3

All our Manufacturing Units conducted several new initiatives during the last few months for enhancing employee engagement and experience. Our Gurukul students at Dharuhera plant have made us proud with 22 of them having qualified for the zonal round and 2 qualifying for regional round of the international ‘Work Skill competition’. Dharuhera plant has also started sensitizing employees on the importance of health and hygiene through an innovative approach of ‘Nukkad Natak’. We also saw the inauguration of the ‘Little Heros’ daycare center at the Gurgaon plant, which is a significant step towards creating a better work life balance for employees. Our Haridwar plant became the first Plant within HMCL to be certified with ‘Energy Management System – ISO 50001:2011’ which would lead to substantial savings of energy and ultimately cost. Lastly, Im happy to applaud the achievements of Neemrana plant on reaching the landmark of 1 million annual production figure and rolling out of 3 million two wheelers, and to GPC, for achieving a record business of INR 300 crores in a single month. COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS

Business Performance: Q4 FY 2017-18 Q1 Performance and current trends impacting the world of Mobility • Macro economic trends

Global economy continued its growth at steady pace, though rising commodities cost continue to be a worry. Crude oil, Aluminum, and steel- the key commodities impacting auto sector continued their upward march. Indian GDP grew at 7.7% in March quarter, and coupled with positive forecast on monsoon, and govt focus on rural infrastructure, the macro trends favor growth of 2-wheeler industry. Rupee has depreciated over past few months to be around 68 now vs. a level of 65 few months earlier.

• 2 wheeler industry and our performance in Q4

Our growth in domestic market was at 22.9% against Industry growth of 24.8%. Growth was broad based- across motorcycles and scooter- as well as entry and deluxe segment. Global business performance was strong with 40% growth and we need to continue building the scale. Parts business also grew double digits. Driving scooter growth, Building strong portfolio in premium, and scaling up Global business, will remain our key strategic priorities.

• Profitability and margin trends

We delivered an EBITDA margin of 16%, taking full year margins to 16.4%- broadly similar to FY 17 margins. Increase in commodity cost was offset by reduction in fixed costs, as well as through higher scale. The commodities, as mentioned above continue to move up, and it will be critical for us to get more out of Leap/Lead programme and overhead cost reduction, while taking judicious price increases depending on market scenario.

• Upcoming launches

As displayed in auto expo- the company will be launching 4 new products in FY 19- in scooter and Premium motor cycle segment. These launches are expected to begin in Q2- and should further help in our growth journey and sustaining market leadership.

Regards, Niranjan Gupta Chief Financial Officer

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS Hero @ Merzounga Rally:

Another Top 15 finish for Hero MotoSports Team Rally at Merzouga Rally 2018

T

he Afriquia Merzouga Rally in Morocco forms an important race in the calendar of any team wanting to go to the Dakar as it offers regulations and conditions that are somewhat similar to some stages of the Dakar Rally. This year’s Merzouga rally was conducted from 15th – 20th April and saw the participation of over 100 pro – rally riders from across the globe roughing it out over a span over 1500 kms in the expansive and unforgiving deserts of Merzouga region of Morocco, known for its large dunes and extremely soft sands. For Hero MotoSports Team Rally it marked the first International rally on their “Road to Dakar 2019” and was an important practice ground. The rider duties for the team were performed by Oriol Mena (Rider No. 17) and C S Santosh (Rider No. 29). They were also joined by Joaquim Rodrigues, who donned the hat of the team Mentor, while still recuperating from his crash at the Dakar 2018. The competition started with a short prologue on 15th April followed by 5 days of intense rallying that also included 2 days of the gruelling Marathon stage. The week long Afriquia Merzouga Rally witnessed some intensely fought stages before the curtains were drawn on yet another highly successful edition on 20th April. Hero MotoSports Team Rally added yet another impressive finish to their record with Oriol Mena finishing in top 15 at 15th position and C S Santosh finishing in top 20 at 19th place. This was a really commendable performance from the team considering that in this edition of the Afriquia Merzouga Rally, almost all the top teams and top riders of the Dakar were competing, imparting it a flavour of a “mini – Dakar”.

Interaction with Leadership Team - Mr. Sanjay Bhan Please tell us about your early life & career? I started my career with Dunlop India Pvt. Ltd., and worked with them for a short duration before joining Hero’s sales vertical in Gujarat in 1991. After my brief stint at the corporate office, I went on to take care of West Zone in Baroda. I was promoted and rotated to Maharashtra as an Area Manager to head the state. After 3 years, I was promoted again and rotated to East Zone as Area Manager and stayed in Kolkata till 1998. Then I again moved back to Maharashtra and worked there till 2005. For the next 2 years, I assumed the Lead role for North Zone and then worked on setting up the Rural Vertical. This was followed by a stint as Head of Marketing function and then in 2013, I took over as Head of Parts Business function. Currently, I am responsible for all the Customer facing functions – Sales, After Sales and Parts Business. What excites you about your profession? Every day is a new challenge for me! There is always so much to do and so many new things to explore that I am always excited to be back to work every day. The most exciting thing about my profession is that one has to be at the top of his game to stay ahead in the business! Tell us about some of the projects which you hold close to your heart during your career? While my whole journey here has been an exciting one, I would like to pick a few accomplishments I am really proud of. When I moved to Gujarat, it was primarily a scooter driven market. By then we already had 70% of the market share, so I looked forward to expanding the market. I drove the market shift towards motorcycles by running extensive campaigns, meeting potential customers and dealers that ensured the migration. When I joined East Zone in 1995, the total number of motorcycles sold per month for the whole zone was just 300-400. By the time I left, the number had risen to 8000 motorcycles per month in the zone. During the early years of my career,

12

I used to travel a lot, almost 2324 days a month. I was on the road meeting our dealers and understanding our customers. This extensive traveling helped me gain a lot of insights about the nerve of the Indian consumers as well as the two wheeler market here. Sitting in our air conditioned offices, a lot of problems seem tough to crack but when you are close your customers; the problems start looking smaller. In 1992, the economy was in a bad shape and the automobile industry was also not doing well. However, during my travel, I noticed that the rural population was doing relatively better and hence, I shifted my focus towards them! I started the Rural campaign, took technicians and dealers with me to meet the opinion leaders of various villages and talukas. That Diwali, our average production accounted for 20% of the national volume and Gujarat became the No. 1 state in terms of sales. In order to focus more towards this segment, I created a team and ran several campaigns like “Har Gaon Har Aangan”, “Mission Bharat”, “Khusiyan Har Aangan” to reach out to the rural sector. Today, the rural sector contributes approximately 60% to our sales. Finally, being a part of the team responsible for leading on the biggest Brand Restructuring from Hero Honda to Hero Motocorp is one of the latest accomplishments I really close hold to me. Which are key trends which will help to evolve Indian and global two wheeler market over the years? I strongly believe that alternate energy options will play a huge role in the upcoming future. Options like fossil fuel based technologies, EVs, Hydrogen fuels, Hybrid vehicles etc. will help Indian two wheeler market evolve. These changes will see a huge shift in the world power dynamics and has the potential to impact on the whole Geo Political environment of the world! How do you think is Hero poised for handling the turbulent macro environment in the coming future? Hero’s biggest asset is its

understanding of the environment and its customers. We have not only benefitted from change during the years, but have more often than not, driven the change in the automobile industry. Tell us something about your family. We are a family of five. My father passed away 20 years back and my mother stays with me. My wife, as pretty as ever is my constant support. I am blessed with 2 children, my son is doing his MBA from Great Lakes Institute, Chennai and my daughter is pursuing Law for National Law University. What do you think are the core qualities of a Leader? A leader has immense responsibilities. Once you are a leader, you need to earn respect from your subordinates as well as your peers and be someone others can look up to. Commitment, Sincerity, Ability to offer solutions and add value and Lead from the front are the four ‘must haves’ for a leader! A Leader has to rise above the crowd and live for the world. It is not an easy process and a person has to continuously learn and evolve to be one! What would be a few key lessons which you would like to share with the young generation of Hero which will act as a key motivation for them? Any task / assignment is only as interesting and challenging as you make it out to be! I have always challenged and tried to surprise myself! So make the best of what you have and be the best at whatever you do. Good things will always happen to people with good intent!

T

ravel is the best way to improve your life because it builds many skills at once. Instead of making long resolutions list this year, just travel. After a year of planning, I was sure to welcome 2017 on the highways of India, where my roots belong in real. With stunning beaches, a rich culture, ancient heritage buildings, varied food options, mesmerizing mountains, never ending lonely roads, majestic temples and most important some quality time for yourself, India is an enthralling country to see through your eyes. My Mantra of Travel: Work, Save, Travel, Repeat!! After a period of 2 years travelling to the North, the next trip on my mind was Rann of Kutch, the world’s largest salt desert, measuring over 16,000 sq km, sleeping under the open sky, and surrendering myself to this beauty on earth. After a year of planning, I was sure to welcome 2018 on the highways of India, where my roots belong in real.

Shashikant (Operations, Neemrana Plant)

W

hen I was 14, My MAMA SHREE taught me to ride a bike, which was Hero Honda Passion. I still remember my trip from Delhi to Mathura and Agra with my school friends on 14th August 2016. Everyone wanted to go by bus or train, but I was passionate about the biking and I fought so hard with everyone and finally managed to convince all, to go on bikes. Finally we started our journey from Delhi at 5:10 AM, it was a rainy day, we were seven, and everyone took higher end cc bikes except me. I was alone having 97.2 cc SPLENDOR I-SMART, but my friends supported me and they motivated me to lead the group. Many times, I was lagging the race with 3 Avengers, FZ, Gixxer and Hero Xtreme. But I did not want my SPLENDOR I-SMART to be the last. So I gave full throttle and overtook all, @102KM/hr. The moment when I crossed all, I felt a surge of pride, although I knew that my friends had slowed down their bikes, just to see my happiness when I was ahead. It was hard for me to believe that I rode my SPLENDOR I-SMART at a high speed on YAMUNA EXPRERSS WAY. It was a 2 days short trip from Delhi to Mathura to Agra covering about 500 KMs. This trip was full of unforgettable moments and and joyful experiences. After this, we plan bike trip every year; the planning, fighting with friends, convincing all, is all done by me. In the past 2 years we undertook, apart from the aforesaid one, 2 trips, which were from Delhi to Haridwar and Delhi to Bhangarh Fort. One more thing, when I am alone, and want to ride, then I like to ride my bike @20km/h at a constant speed. At that time, surrounding looks so beautiful and everything around seems in slow motion.

T

Ajaypal Singh (Operations, Neemrana Plant)

he only things I’d like to add are your experience greatly varies depending on the type of bike you ride. On a Royal Enfield, there isn’t much adrenaline. It’s a very pleasant out in the open air experience. They are comfortable but lazy on two wheels. When I first began riding, I noticed two key things - Wind and the Road. You feel the wind like you’ve never felt before. It moves you around, and on a freeway that can be scary. Your head can buffet in the wind, especially when you are turning it to check blind spots. You feel the road like you’ve never felt before. You notice how the grip changes between different road surfaces, how crack fillers are scary as hell because they offer such little grip, and how some deep cracks in the road can be as wide as your tires and how you need to avoid them. But eventually you get used to all that. One key thing I reminded myself during riding is to look where I want to go, because on a bike, you WILL go where you are looking! If you are LOOKING at that sidewalk, you ARE going on that sidewalk.
