FROM EDITOR’S DESK

Dear Colleagues, It gives me great pleasure to present to you the 4th Volume of our quarterly Hero Universe magazine for 2017. Let me start by wishing all of you and your family members a warm and wonderful New Year! Year 2017 has been a very eventful one for us with our organization scaling new heights and continued our journey as the No.1 Two Wheeler brand for the 17th consecutive year!

Mr. Sanjay Jorapur Chief Human Resources Officer

Our cover for this issue features our Chairman, Managing Director and CEO, Mr Pawan Munjal with his most recent message to the organization – 1000 Days, 100 Million. With a cumulative sales of more than 75 Million vehicles – a milestone that we completed in Q1 FY 18, our CMD has set the next milestone for us. The venue where he unveiled this message could not have been more apt. It was the National Dealers Conclave at Dubai. The NDC – with its audience of all our best performing dealers – gave the right platform to ensure our front end is also aligned with the message. The next few years with the changes in regulations (BS VI), Technologies (advent of EVs) are going to need all of us to come together, stay focused on the goal, work together collaboratively and achieve it. With the same spirit, the milestones we achieved in Q3 (highest ever sales in a day (3L +), highest ever in a month (7L+) and the Q2 Highest in a quarter (2M+) should give us the momentum to achieve this milestone well in advance! In the first two quarters of FY18, our volumes increased by 6.2 per cent and 10.9 per cent, respectively. These imply a monthly run-rate of around 6.5 lakh vehicles in H1 of FY 18. The Haridwar team made us proud to become the fastest plant to touch the 20 Million cumulative production mark in the month of Oct-17. Similarly on the product front, we have been making waves. In the NDC, 3 new products were launched – Passion Pro, Passion Xpro and Super Splendor. This was on the back of a successful EICMA (the largest two wheeler motor show in the world), Milan launch of Xpulse – a new adventure Concept bike and the accompanying showcase of our Accessories range! Our Business plan for FY18 is targeting 15% growth in domestic, 30% growth in parts business, and 60% growth in exports. Read more about this in our section on quarterly business performance written by our CFO, Niranjan Gupta. On the people front, we continue to make great progress in making Hero - a Great Place to Work. I am pleased that our launch of “Achievers” – a digitally enabled recognition platform has received tremedous response from all across Hero! If you have not yet logged in and appreciated a colleague, then you might be in minority! The Recognition culture is catching up!! Don’t be left behind!! Achievers is an authentic, peer driven platform for recognition and I firmly believe that this will be one of the key enablers of creating a high performance organization. Its always heartening when initiatives started are sustained! We started our second batch of Hero Wharton iLEAD – senior leadership development program on Dec 4. This is our flagship leadership development initiative, and we had 20 of our best leaders experiencing the environs of the No. 1 Business school in the world! We also started the second batch of Emerging Leaders Program (aimed at developing and strengthen our middle Management) in association with Emeritus Institute of Management and the 4th batch of the Future Leaders Program (aimed at developing our First Time

3

FROM EDITOR’S DESK Managers) in association with IMT Ghaziabad! Together with these 3 programs we are well on our way of strengthening the internal leadership pipeline. Neeraj Mathur joined the list of leaders to speak with our FLP participants in the 4th batch after Vijay Sethi, Sanjay Bhan and Malo Le Masson. In his characteristic engaging style, Neeraj spoke about his journey, achievements and challenges. He also shared various dimensions of Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain function and its role within Hero MotoCorp and importance of the Ethical Conduct in his role. As part of our GPTW initiative, we concluded felicitation of Level 3 Hero4Heroes – Wave 1. Our projects under Excellerator Club, Open Innovation and Hero Campus Challenge continue to make waves across the organization! Read more about these initiatives in following pages. Our focus on our Core Values will never waver. You would have seen a veriety of measures on this front. The 3~4 minute leadership videos on Hero Core Values struck a great chord across the organization. If you have not yet seen them – then do login and listen to your leaders speak about Hero Values themselves! The SS&SC function went one step ahead and conducted a series of Core Values workshop for all its employees – that received a great response. We also celebrated our association with FIFA U-17 World Cup with a variety of programs across the organization. This was also a great quarter for our sports enthusiasts! Hero was the largest corporate contingent at Airtel Delhi Marathon with 550 Hero employees taking part. We also competed and organized numerous sports competitions and celebrated festivals across the organization. We have not forgotten our employees’ children! Our unique sposorship of 5 children for one of the most sought after programs in India - The Shri Ram Ananta Aspen Leadership School (TSALS) entered its 3rd year! Through TSALS, deserving children of our employees get a unique opportunity to hone their leadership’s skills at a young age. Do urge your children to apply! Once again, wishing you and your family a very warm and Happy New Year and I hope you enjoy reading this edition of Hero Universe. Warm Regards,

Sanjay

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS

BUSINESS PERFORMANCE Q2 Performance and current trends impacting the world of Mobility • Macro economic trends

Global economy remained stable, while commodities have shown clear upward movement. GDP numbers in India showed some positive signs, after sequential declines over last few quarters. This augurs well for our sector moving forward. As expected, there was no change in interest rates in the recently announced RBI Policy, and Currency continues to remain range bound with slight bias for depreciation.

• 2 wheeler industry and our performance in Q2

Our growth in domestic market was at 11.3% against Industry growth of 12.4%. Within this, we grew ahead of market in motorcycles (our growth 13.2% vs. industry 11%), while scooters lagged behind (our volumes flat vs. market growth of 17%). Significant part of our motorcycle growth came through entry segment. Global business performance was subdued with broadly flat – vs. industry growth of 15%. Parts business grew by 3%, impacted by GST. Our Business plan for FY18 is targeting 15% growth in domestic, 30% growth in parts business, and 60% growth in exports. Our Q2 performance, while showing improvement over Q1, was lower than business plan, and we need to accelerate in remaining part of the year to meet the targets. Driving scooter growth, restoring growth in parts business, and scaling up Global business will be a clear short-term priority.

• Profitability and margin trends

We delivered an EBITDA margin of 17.4%, lower by 20 bps on y/y basis. Margin factors in impact of accounting changes due to GST. The commodities, as mentioned above have moved up considerably now and it will be critical for us to get more out of Leap programme and overhead cost reduction, while taking judicious price increases depending on market scenario.

• GST…a continuing transition

GST changes seem to be getting stabilized as far as parts business is concerned. The complexity of returns, changes in rules continue, as the govt is trying to solve problems basis feedback it is receiving. The cross functional teams continue to remain focused on adapting and incorporating necessary changes to ensure business keeps running in a smooth manner.

• Moving forward

Achieving growth as per ABP will remain key focus area.

Wishing a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! Warm Regards, Niranjan Gupta Chief Financial Officer

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS Global Business Highlights Year 2017 began with a bang for the Global Business with a mega launch and subsequent entry into Argentina, one of the biggest markets of South America. HMCL’s first global product launch of Glamour 125 cc (Ignitor in the global markets) was also done in the same event along with three other models – Hunk, Hunk Sports, and Dash. This was a launch that practically brought the entire city to a standstill; some glimpses of the event are provided below!

The new financial year also saw a series of launches in the Asian markets, with the first one being that of Maestro Edge in Colombo, Sri Lanka in June 17. This was done primarily to complement our numero uno scooter, Pleasure, in the fast growing scooter market of Sri Lanka. The event was inaugurated by Mr Rajat Bhargava (Head – GB and S&PT) and Mr Behman Pestonjee (Tito), MD – Abans Auto. The Annual dealer convention in Sri Lanka was also conducted on the same day. Bangladesh also saw new launches from our arsenal namely iSmart 110 and Achiever 150cc in June 17 coinciding with Eid and hence gaining more traction from customers! HMCL also participated with great vigor in NADA Auto Show, Nepal which was held from 29 Aug – 3 Sept 17 launching two products – All new Maestro Edge and Pleasure with new color variants and BS4 compliant. The event not only saw a footfall of approximately 70,000 but also received widespread media coverage as well! To enhance sales in Bangladesh even further, HNBL (Hero Niloy Bangladesh Ltd) tied up with popular ecommerce website, ‘Pickaboo’, as an exclusive online sales partner for Hero! Pickaboo has over 8 lac likes on their Facebook page, an average of 4.2 stars out of 5 and has an average of 30,000 hits per day! In the agreement with Hero, they would provide 0% interest for 6 months tenure & maximum tenure of 24 months (with interest). This is a recent development that happened in November 17 and we have already sold 62 bikes from this website in just a month’s time!! Such an unexpected result in just one month has boosted the energy levels of Pickaboo and they are ready to sell even more! In June 17, we achieved an important milestone in terms of production of our first bikes from our Bangladesh plant facility based in Jessor. We began with a production of 6000 units and reaching a high of 9000 units as on date!! Panning across the continent to Latin America, apart from Argentina launch, one of the major highlights has been the achievement of

6

30,000 units of cumulative retail sales in CAC cluster by our distributor in Guatemala! This is huge for the region as we continue to build our brand in these countries. This too garnered a lot of attention from the media! Catch a glimpse of Mr Bhargava felicitating award to the distributor! Ever heard of Atletico de Madrid?? You will be glad to know that HMCL has also been appointed as the official two wheeler partner for the Spanish football club for three years! This has really helped enhance the brand to a great extent given the popularity of the FC in the region. While we celebrated the highs achieved in Asia and some countries in Latin America; political turmoil, and economic crises in some of the major African markets brought about a tad bit of disappointment in the region. However, the team worked tirelessly by coming up with innovative campaigns and initiatives to enhance the relations with the distributors and customers. ‘No Wahala, No Kobo’ translated in English as ‘No problem and No extra money’ is an industry first initiative in Nigeria which was launched in October 17. This offer ensures Zero spending on consumable parts for the first six months of Dawn 100 ownership and makes it a very affordable ride as compared to other competitors in the region. Each new rider has been provided with free spare parts for 6 months, thus putting more money into the rider’s pocket! We also had Ethiopian distributor and dealer teams visit HMCL in the month of August 17. The dealers were strategically selected based on geographical coverage and critical market presence. Their anticipation towards this visit was met with a lot of positivity and they went back with a strong confidence about brand Hero! The team also undertook innovative marketing campaigns in different regions – such as #lovemyhero, a customer advocacy program in Nepal; launch of a mega contest in Guatemala, Endurance – 24 hour Dawn 125 – that included bike trips to Costa Rica (Hunk), Mission Invincible (Dawn 150cc)- which was a family fair with a close circuit to complete challenges with the bike and Stretch your Gallon (iSmart) which was again a contest to test the low fuel consumption of the bike! Such campaigns have really helped gain attraction of new customers in the region. In view of keeping the momentum going and bringing the team closer, for the first time we organized a team building program at Vivanta by Taj, in Oct 17, and called it “DREAM TEAM”. The main crux of this program was Collaboration, Shared Ownership, Trust & Respect. The team participated enthusiastically throughout the day and took away a lot of key learnings from the program. We also saw active participation from Mr Rajat Bhargava himself, as he participated in all the team building activities thus bringing in a lot of bonhomie within the group. As the year draws to an end, we hope to continue this energy to the incoming year and achieve many more highs for the team and for the Organization.

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS GLOBAL SOURCING HIGHLIGHTS

M

aterial cost constitutes 70.9% of our total cost and it’s very vital that we exercise adequate controls to ensure best price, quality and delivery. In order to do so, we have taken multiple initiatives, however in this article I will share two crucial ones:

Commodity Management: In our vehicle, we use various type of raw material i.e. steel, aluminum, copper, rubber, plastic, platinum, palladium, nickel etc. and these commodities are very volatile in all global markets. This volatility is a function of macro and micro economic drivers but pre-dominantly driven by marco economic forces, i.e. 1. China cracked down many environmentally non-compliant factories, creating a demand supply gap of 10% in various commodities. 2. Political disturbances in Oil countries causing crude prices increase 3. Regulation like BS6 / Euro5 inflating global demand of precious metal (Pd) 4. Accelerated penetration of EV soared prices of aluminum, copper & lithium` In order to understand this volatility better and to have accurate forecast, HMCL has setup various controls by creating pricing formula with the raw material suppliers and we also disseminate the prices of these raw material to our component suppliers at pre-defined frequency so that there is win-win situation for our complete supply chain. These controls have greatly helped to be able to adjust our prices well in time in line with the market forces so that there is minimum stress left in our supply chain system.

Global Sourcing: Second big initiative is the Global sourcing, which was created with the objective to leverage Techno-Economic levers globally both for raw material, components & technology. In this endeavor we have ventured out multiple countries both in Asia and Europe. This initiative helped HMCL in following way: • De-risk our self by creating capacities in different part of the world to meet the variation in our vehicle demand. • Leveraging manufacturing excellence from different part of Asia & Middle east (i.e. China, Dubai, Taiwan, Indonesia, etc) • Get updated and advance technologies from Europe and ASEAN • Creating partnership of global players with some of our ancillaries to leverage global technology and high volume manufacturing capabilities in India. These initiatives helped HMCL to challenge the status quo both internally and with our supply chain partners to facilitate HMCL to be a truly global player. AIRTEL DELHI HALF MARATHON

T

he 10th Airtel Delhi half Marathon was held on 19th November 2017. The marathon initiated from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi at 6 AM on Sunday as people turned up in droves to take part in this event. A nip in the air was hardly a deterent for the 35,000 strong crowd and at 292, Delhi’s AQI was in the “Poor” category for the second straight day. However, this did not deter the people from participating in the event and this 10th edition of the marathon saw a very active participation from the people. While many people were seen sporting pollution masks, the more health conscious ones were armed with calorie-count and heartbeat monitors too. Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Rajyavardhan Singh rathore flagged off the 21 KM run from the stadium which saw participants cover Rajpath, Parliament House, India Gate, Lodhi Road and Janpath. Employees of Hero Motocorp participated in excellent numbers in this event – there has been a phenomenal growth in participation from 200 people in 2015 to 300 in 2016 and more than 500 in 2017. We had more than 500 employees participating in different categories at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2017. It was amazing to see such enthusiastic response from the employees as Hero MotoCorp stood out as an organization on race day. The scale of our participation further emphasizes our focus on the wellness agenda helping Hero create an environment wherein, every employee can participate, stay healthy and motivated, thus fuelling individual and organization performance. We have continued our association with CRY and support for the cause of child rights at ADHM 2017. With 500+ employees running for Hero MotoCorp, we have ensured that more than 5000 children are back to school.

KNOW YOUR LEADERSHIP – Mr. Malo Le Masson, Head - Global Product Planning Please tell us about your early life & career I grew up in Tahiti until 10 years old, then Tunisia until 17 years old, arrived then in France, and throughout my career, lived in Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong and now New Delhi. So a Global citizen, home is where I live, not where I am from. Throughout my career, I have been involved in the 4 wheeler industry( cars), with Nissan Group, but I was always passionate about Motorcycle, which explains why I am here today in Hero. What excites you about your profession? My love for 2 Wheelers - When you love Motorcycle as a product, defining the product strategy, understanding the customer psyche behind what is said, the concept to tackle this … that ultimately result in a product you can ride… It cannot be better than that. Tell us about some of the projects which you hold close to your heart during your career? As most of my career was with Nissan, I’ll refer to cars. The most memorable project was designing the Nissan Juke, as the interior was driven by the concept I created (hint: the center console is shaped as a motorcycle fuel tank). Another project was The Nissan Leaf as back in 2007, working on the 1st mass produced EV car was a 360 degree challenge. Finally, the latest generation Micra launched in 2016. A massive direction change I had to lead that did happen with blood, sweat and tears but the result delivered on the promise to the Company. Which are key trends which will help to evolve Indian and global two wheeler market over the years? Scooter-isation: This is a growing trend in India which happened in many countries globally so this is more a market rebalance (rebalance because it is not going to overpass M/C). The real trend that is shaping India but will impact also globally is Premium-isation for India (middle weight category in Global). As India evolves from a pure commuter market to a more diverse usage with leisure & lifestyle biking, that will create economy of scale for an offer from India to the World. In Global, the downscaling from 600, 700, …1000cc to middle weight has started already as speed law enforcement, driving license regulation like in Europe with A2 category and general adversity to risk is growing. Those models will be more and more coming

10

from India…and to India. How do you find working and living in India, how is it really different from your previous global assignments? Different, as every country is different in culture, history and geography. What I like is what you discover. Whether it is the taste of a dish, the monuments you visit, cities, the people you meet… and what is unique to India is the limitless possibilities. No wonder why our country tag line is “Incredible India”. Tell us about your passion - riding? What all famous rides have you undertaken? What are your favourite 2 wheelers? Let’s start with the Nordschleife, a green hilly road/track in middle of the Eifel forest in Germany. I Crashed there (I’m not the best rider…) but love it. The Road Napoleon - Did it one time at night, going from Switzerland to South of France. The average speed was indecent…should never do that again. Biking is also riding for the journey. 4 days on a Harley Davidson on the USA West Coast is a fantastic memory of beautiful roads, encounters...and shady motels. In India, I had a lot of fun with friends going to Amby Valley starting from Mumbai … but I’m reserving my judgement for Leh Ladakh which is on my bucket list. Tell us something about your function - GPP? What is the core role of this function? The core function of Global product Planning is to define the next 5 years Product strategy, which segment to enter, which model to add or discontinue, the approach to the segment Then a deep dive in Consumer insight to create the concept of the product. What it should deliver on? The responsibility of the Competitiveness. Finally, work hand in hand with R&D, Sales&Marketing, Operation, Sourcing to ultimately deliver the winning product to the market that matches Customer needs (balance on specs, features, versus Price, volume expectations). What do you think are the core qualities of a Leader? Integrity as you should always be fair, people would only follow you if your ethics is right. Openness to inputs as no function can work independently in our Industry. Same apply to a Leader. …and Accountability as you should not shy away from responsibilities. What matters is the delivery at the end.

FIFA @ Hero 2017

F

IFA employee engagement initiative was organized with the aim of immersing whole Hero in the FIFA experience as Hero was national supporter of the event. 23 events based on FIFA theme were conducted across locations i.e. plants, Corporate Offices and R&D within a span of 25 days. It was launched by visit of Kheelio, official mascot of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, at each location and culminated with online quiz, winners of which were given a chance to witness the final of world Cup with their friends and families. Unique activities like Human Foosball, virtual gaming were able to excite and generate interest of all cadres and generations. Last but not the least online quiz alone saw participation of 1100+ employees.

CAPABILITY BUILDING INITIATIVES Rights & Responsibilities of a Manager

H

ero Motocorp believes in outperforming consistently and is an organization with conscience, where every employee is a leader. The “Hero Leader” values Humility, Integrity, Respect, Speed and exhibits Excellence through Teamwork. Hero leader is also one “who acts as a catapult in shifting orbits.” To realize this promise of the organization and become a Hero Leader, every Manager must be aware of his “Rights & Responsibilities”, which will enable them to provide a positive experience to his / her team and take a step forward towards creating a Great Place to Work. In order to understand the current “as is” state, we had rolled out a survey regarding “Rights & Responsibilities” of a Manager. The overall organization’s score was 4.36 on a scale of 6 (as rated by direct reports of managers) and this led to the development of a workshop which will help in creating a shared , SOHGJH WR EH DQ H[DPSOH WR RWKHUV E\ understanding about the “Rights and Responsibilities” of a Manager. Rights are “things which a person is entitled to or deserve” and Responsibilities are “Things you are expected to do”! This will help the Managers in deploying their Rights & Responsibilities in an effective manner so as to create a positive employee experience! This workshop is based on a unique experiential methodology which focusses on embellishing “Rights and Responsibilities” of a Manager at HMCL. The feedback will be taken again from the direct reports, post coverage of all the Managers in this workshop, to gauge the effectiveness. Approx. 453 Managers have already been covered out of target of 861. At the end of the workshop, every participant takes a commitment to enhance employee experience by practicing their “Rights & Responsibilities”. It is a researched and proven fact that commitment showcases in public are more likely to be accomplished by the incumbent. Keeping this in view, every participant gets a commitment card, on which they write their promises and this card acts as a ready reckoner of the commitment to be accomplished so as to enable positive and engaging employee experience.

CAPABILITY BUILDING INITIATIVES Hero4Heroes – Manager Capability Building workshops

O

ne of the initiatives in ‘Making Hero a Great Place to Work’ umbrella was the launch of a series of workshops for managers on how to enhance their daily interaction with their team members by practicing the concept of ‘Giftwork’. We called the program, Hero4Heroes. In collaboration with the Great Places to Work Institute, approximately 200 managers went through the program launched in August 17 in 8 batches. What makes the program different is the elaborate post workshop phase which is spread over 4 months wherein participating managers had to undergo 3 Levels of ‘Giftwork’ journey. In a nutshell, UGIFT as a concept is about how to build trust within one’s teams by making each interaction: U – Unique G – Generous I – Individualized F – Fits the context T – Together The workshop was conducted in two Waves – Wave 1 and Wave 2. Each manager, went through a two day workshop which was conducted by an experienced faculty of Great Places to Work Institute. Each batch was carefully constructed along certain guidelines so that participants can interact freely and derive maximum learning out of it. You can catch a few glimpses below-: As this was an intervention program of building manager capability, it consisted of 3 Levels-: Level 1 – the managers had to create at least one action plan around two mandatory focus areas i.e Listening and Developing and one more out of any of the three focus areas of Inspiring / Thanking and Caring. The focus areas were arrived at as a result of several inputs from the survey, FGDs, Appreciative Inquiries (AI) with Leadership team, Culture Audit etc. Level 2 – this was a longer duration of almost three months wherein the managers had to implement their action plans within their teams and record their impact stories. One got to see a lot of interesting and unique initiatives like ‘Chai pe Charcha’, ‘Listening Box’, ‘Humraj’, ‘Barhe Chalo’ and many more – to generate a buzz within their teams and even beyond. Level 3 – the final leg comprises of the assessment stage which in turn comprises of two aspects – Survey among the team members and reporting officers of the participating managers & Jury evaluation. While we achieved a commendable response rate of 70% during the survey , the Jury Evaluation for Wave 1 batches was completed on 12th and 13th December 17. Final score

18

for each manager was a combination of survey and jury assessment score. The evaluation panel comprised of Mr Ravi Pisipaty, Mr Mahesh Kaikini, Mr Naveen Chauhan, Mr Rahul Bhatnagar, Mr Abhinav Gera, Mr Rohit Mansukhani and Ms Ranjita Singh from HMCL and the two faculties from Great Places to Work , Mr Rajiv Talwar and Mr Anantadeb Bandhopadhyay. The Jury Evaluation was a rigorous assessment by the panel as they evaluated on the initiatives undertaken by the managers and their plans of sustainance. The day ended with a Recognition Ceremony as all the managers who cleared the assessment were felicitated with Level 3 certification of being a ‘Giftwork Manager’. We also recognized Top Two Managers from each batch! Some glimpses are provided below-: Top Giftwork Managers of Wave 1 are as below-: 1. Jai Prakash Sharma – Operations, Dharuhera plant 2. Amarpreet Singh – Operations, Gurgaon plant 3. Jatinder Singh Virk – Operations, Dharuhera plant 4. Anuj Goel – Operations, Gurgaon plant 5. Amrit Pal Singh – Operations, Neemrana plant 6. MOTOPASSIONAITE DIARIES @ HERO Shabista Ansari (Operations, Neemrana Plant)

I

started riding when I was 11, My father presented me with a bicycle, and that’s how the journey started. Riding was something which has always given a sense of joy to me. Sitting in the bus going from Neemrana to Delhi, my heart swept whenever I see any bikers riding , creating a sense of vigour and the need for speed. Being a girl, both fearful and excited, I decided to have an experience of my own... & the day came when I borrowed a friend’s Karizma and started riding early morning from Neemrana to Delhi, singing along side, I passed and watched everything as if I was watching the trajectory for the first time, the birds, the mountains, the building, the greenery, it was altogether the journey worth to remember on Hero Karizma!!

Atul Malik (R&D, CIT Jaipur)

There is something inherently beautiful about riding motorcycle, with one hand ready on the clutch and other eagerly on throttle you are holding life by the reins.“The sculptor of my dreams what I would call it, “beast” when people ask for the name, it showcases possibilities of having wings and flying into the world of infinite possibilities. Riding a bike gives me an adrenaline rush and the feeling of the hand trembling out of the excitement like the rustle of the ice. On a cloudy and winter December morning, the long wished trip to Nepal started on my beast from Jaipur. We crossed people, vehicles, rain, sun, snow and aspirations together. The roads gave us many challenges we overcame these challenges like a child playing with his/ her toys. We went through the mountains, parading through its terrain, rolling through the dirt and gravel and happily dusting ourselves off. We crossed the waterfall above us and gazed the snow together; while sunset, the beast calmly resting besides me, getting ready for the next adventure, an adventure bigger than life. The thought of perverseness would have damned me some day but these seeming allurements made me digest my filthy thoughts. – love you my beast. “The Destinations becomes less important than the Journey itself.”

Tanmay Bharti (HR, Haridwar Plant)

R

iding for me is a life experience every time and every other day. It developed in me when I used to travel with my family to distant places as tourist and we normally used trains and buses as our mode of commutation. All the places I ever visited, has created some very beautiful picturesque memories which resulted in developing this passion of becoming a rider, traveler and photography enthusiast. So my proper riding started all the way from May-2012 when I purchased a thump “Royal Enfield – Bullet 350cc” and until now I have covered around 40,000 km. I have done trips from Udaipur to Mount Abu (150 Km one side), Jaipur (400 Km one side), Kumbhalgarh, Nathdwara ( 120 Km one side), a circular trip from Haridwar, Dehradun, Mussorie, Dhanolti, Kanatal, Chamba, Rishikesh(300 km), Nainital to Sattal, Pangot (60 Km) and many other small trips. Each ride has taught and shown me something new. It has developed my senses of adaptability and reactions with different situations. And thus it makes me feel proud for belonging to the rider fraternity. Riding is all about your life as in life also you keep on moving whatever be the situations/circumstances. My cheers to all, as we all have a rider within us, it’s only when you realize it. So just explore yourself and start a journey to any place, and I am sure you will enjoy to be a rider.
