The Indian rupee signed off the last trading session of 2018 at 69.77 per dollar, with a 9.6 % fall during the year after witnessing it’s one of the tumultuous years in the recent past. However, in the near-term, the trend in the US dollar, oil price and ensuing general elections will determine the direction for the currency. The country has underperformed in the manufacturing sector - though emerging as the world’s sixth biggest auto manufacturer, and expanding production of smart phones.
2 Wheeler Industry and our Performance in Q3 Our YOY growth for Q3 in domestic market was at 5.3% against Industry growth of 8.4%. Global business of the company grew at 3.7% as against the industry growth of 11.9%. Scooter growth was negative this quarter owing to underperformance of 100-110 cc. Destini 125 cc has picked up 10% retail market share.
Profitability and Margin Trends We delivered an EBITDA margin of 14.0%, down Y/Y by 180 bps, largely attributable to higher material cost and higher A&P spends due to festive phasing.

Paperless Operation in Warranty & FSC Management by Introducing e-signature on Invoices at Channel Partners
P
ost GST, paper inflow increased by almost 30 times. Our channel partners were submitting plantwise invoices instead of single invoice for Warranty & FSC. Annexure was required additionally alongwith invoices. Every month approximately 5.15 lacs A4 sheets were being received & equal numbers of documents were retained by our channel partners. This concern was discussed during the National Service meet in June 2018. All EMT members appreciated and supported the idea of e - Signing of invoices. With active support from Finance & IT team, e – Signing process was incorporated in our software. The pilot was done in Delhi & Haryana states. In November 2018, this was rolled out Nationally and has been a success. The advantages are many. • • • • • •

NEWS FROM OUR PLANTS & FUNCTIONS Dharuhera Plant Updates PLANT HR HEAD MESSAGE
O
Of late, we in HM1D had seen some very exciting times. The major areas have been engagement by way of Learning as well as in Sports.
1. Taking a cue from Pawanji’s message, we in HM1D have wholeheartedly embraced the Go Green Initiative. Here we have held displays of what areas are using single use plastics and followed up with brainstorming sessions on how to stop the use of single use plastics and action plans. Within HR we have replaced all plastic bottles with glass. We have even stopped single use plastics in parties/events too. 2. Republic Day Celebrations were highlighted by brilliant march-past with guard of honor, followed by a colorful flag hoisting ceremony. Later prizes were given away in recognition of good work. 3. An “Industrial Workers’ Sports Meet” was organized by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board. At the zonal level contest held in Nehru Stadium Gurugram on 31st Dec 2018 and 1st Jan 2019, our team bagged the first place in Football and Volleyball. In individual events, our players bagged winner and runner up in Shot Put and runner up in Discuss Throw. Later State Level tournaments were organized at the same venue at 7th and 8th Jan 2019 where our team stood winner in Football, Volleyball and Shot Put.
4. We have taken great strides in Employee Engagement. a. To showcase the sporting talents of our teams, we have had a scintillating display during the keenly contested rounds of our internal Sports teams, which led up to the finals, that was epitomized in “Khelotsav” held on 17th March 2019 in BMU Grounds in Dharuhera. The venue saw the hotly
contested finals of plant level Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Kabaddi and Tug of War. The event also featured Union Vs Management contests, and encouraged diversity with Ladies match and had a great deal of razzmatazz with professional anchor livening up the scene. The food & drinks pavilion was also a major draw throughout the event. b. Another aspect of our Employee Engagement was a cultural get-together. Holi Milan was organized on 20th March 2019. Our Maingate turned into a welcome arch festooned with colorful buntings leading the way to the front lawn featuring arrays of gulal and mouth-watering sweets & savouries. Employees had a joyous time applying colors and dancing away to the thrilling beats of Holi themed songs. Our thrust was on eco-friendly Holi without water.
5. While on the Health and Wellness front, we had “First Responder Training” to all nominated employees and refresher Emergency Medical Management Training to medical Staff. Weekly Acupressure therapy sessions are held to provide benefit of alternate therapy to those who need it. 6. Diversity and Inclusion – inducted female workforce in Sanitation and Security. The last year saw increasing focus on diversity and with GenZ joining the organization, it becomes all the more important to engage intellects through variety of engagement and development programs. We saw huge participation of our employees last quarter in events like Hero MotoCorp Football League Season – 3, Hero Premier League – Season 4, Republic Day, Femiquizzitive-Quiz exclusively for women colleagues from HM2G and other locations, Brain-o-Baazi for Technicians, where we had teams participating with full energy and vigor. Heartfelt appreciation to our staff members who have been encouraging and supporting throughout the year.
Annual PACE process for FY 18-19 has been launched recently. We urge our employees to spare quality time in reflecting on last year achievements and gaps for further improvement. Managers have a great responsibility to get their teams ready for the coming year. Let us have dialogue with our people about their progress and development. I am sure as a team, we will adhere to the timelines and complete the process successfully.
