Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami HIGH FASHION SWIMWEAR HITS THE CATWALK There is a little less heat in Miami, Florida since the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week packed up and left, leaving behind our longing to acquire all the latest trends in swimwear. The buzzwords during this week echoing throughout the shows were “luxurious,” “glamorous” and “jetsetter.” Here is a recap of the final few faves from the final few days during a week I like to embrace with the theory that less is more! Try not to drool.
Stunning, breathtaking and innovative are the words I would use to describe the new collection from Delores Cortés. Her use of such vibrant colors screamed out loud, demanding my attention. I was equally impressed with the unique designs of the swimsuits. With 50 years of experience behind this designer, Cortés has sustainability in the industry because she obviously knows what she is doing and what a girl wants. The runway show itself was
like watching the bright colors of sea life swimming by. So now the tough choices begin. Which ones must I add to my collection for 2012? I know I cannot go wrong, as another common element is high standards of quality and fit from all designers at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. For women in bikinis, those requirements come first! Flowers are blooming everywhere and going from spring to summer. No need to worry about allergies these flowers are scent free! The floral trend is in because most women want to soften up their edgy side with a soft floral pattern to show, their femininity. Living in South Florida, it is a bit easier to find more floral prints than anywhere else is since many of the stores up north transfer them in. Brands such as Unif, Jeffrey Cambpell, and even BCBG Max have done a great job in having this trend available for their consumers. As we go from the seasonal transition be sure not to overpower your floral prints. Although you might find a matching set keep, them separate at all cost or else you will look a few weeds need to be pulled.

Floral trend makes a big comeback every now and then. Usually it gets hotter during warmer seasons but Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 is going to be an exception. Following the bloom of florals in the Spring/ Summer 2012 collections we can expect reinvention of the trend in the upcoming season, but prints will become darker, edgier and more luxurious. Not into it- Almost everything has a floral print and is you are not totally into it; purchase a pair of printed shoes, which will keep you going with the trend. Modest look- If you want to stay trendy and have a little modest flare, try a floral printed top paired with either a basic jacket or cardigan.

Bold- For those of you who love floral and do not mind the eye-catching attention, try a pair of floral pants. Yes, it draws attention to the rear, but you are bold enough to wear it. Now if you need ease into the trend just purchase a floral accessory.

Necks Turtle
We are seeing a nary neck this trendy season.More and more boys are refurbushing that turtle neck classic down the streets of Miami.
The nineties’ forward-thinking minimalism is all over the streets of South Florida, as tropic boys take things back to the basics. Lampshades. Swimmer chic. Willy Wonka style. Kid Rock fetishizing. Presenting some of the more, well, unusual looks from Miami. Our boys can be found experimenting with wild accesories and just about anything they can get their hands on. It might just take a minute to adjust.
Bold colors and a collective fusion of aztec meets floral prints. These statement pieces give these boys a streetstyle flair with a cultured edge.
A skittles bag of bold colors is popping up all over the city and we’re loving it. 20

THE XX
BRITISH MINIMALISTS HOME BASE: London LATEST JAM: The ubiquitous self titled debut INLFUENCES: RJD2, Fantastic Mr. Fox FAVORITE TOOL: Akai MPC-5000 Sampler and Production Centerv The album’s second song, “Chained,” is more indicative of the rest of Coexist, as it showcases all three members in peak form. Sim’s velvety voice makes a grand entrance into the arrangement and one can’t help but notice that he has matured as a singer. There is a seductiveness to his croon, a kind of eery yet comforting allure. Paired with Madley Croft the duo make for one of the most engrossing vocal pairs of the last few years. To go along with that, Jamie xx hovers silently in the background, sculpting deep drum rhythms and sophisticated synth patches. The tone of “Chained” is altered when the drums kick in mid-measure and only slowly work their way into the rhythm of the song. It’s something you would find on a Nicolass Jarr or a Burial track and it is the first glimpse of the influence dance music has had on Coexist‘s sound. Once all together, the song’s elements form a beautiful harmony; particularly as Madley Croft and Sim mirror the song’s chord changes with their voices. The song would be perfect if not for its abrupt ending. It seemed like it had so much more to say but was unnecessarily stopped in mid-sentence.

NEON INDIAN
BEDROOM PSYCH WIZARD HOME BASE: Austin / Brooklyn LATEST JAM: “Sleep Paralysist” a coda to the homemade album Psychic Chasms INFLUENCES: New Order, Future Bible Heroes, Britney Spears FAVORITE GIZMO: Oberheim OB-X “In high school I was at this pawn shop called Krazy Kats. I saw this synthisizer and became completely infatuated with it.” Alan Palomo was bored in Texas when he began laying down the tracks that would become the first Neon Indian record. “I’d been re-contextualizing my childhood infatuations in an Italo disco sound,” he recalls, “but then I just started doing what I was feeling at the moment.” One such impulse yielded the blessed-out blog hit “Should Have Taken Acid With You,” an apology to a friend for not sharing a psychadelic experience. The rest of the album sounds like he may have made up for it eventually.
