SINUOUS PLATEAU CONCEPT Plateau. A land area having a relatively level surface considerably raised above adjoining land on at least one side, and often cut by deep canyons.1 “If you think about voids instead of working with the solid elements, the truth appears… the art of the structure is how and where to put the holes… strength but not weight”2 We live in an epoch of simultaneity, of juxtaposition of disperse elements, any Architecture of the XXI century should be able to relate and adapt to a multiplicity of contextual conditions and programmatical challenges. Sinuous plateau responds through a discourse of fluid and dynamic forms, where Architecture is defined by the proximity of elements, and homogeneous spaces have been replaced by fields of heterogeneous and continuous interaction. Distances are continuously removed from the urban experience and the costumer culture, Sinuous plateau aims to describe this urban experience through transformational processes derived from “the celebration of speed, power and innovation”3, amplifying visual interaction through sinuous experiential components for pedestrians, drivers and passengers. Form arises as a direct correspondence between the architectural phenomena of acceleration and deceleration of the cities and speed. Sinuous plateau demonstrates the potential of minimal surfaces (surface with minimal areas), as a transformational event which explores a continuous triaxial plane (where forces are transmitted in all directions) morphing the architectural elements of floor, wall and roof into an interaction filed, where emergence and genesis describe the nature of the universe: speed of information, inertia of technologies and evolution. Dynamic (continuously adapting to the conditions of the human habitation), irregular (internal desequilibrium), relative (not absolute), a non-linear architectural process of ceaseless creation, evolution and destruction, an adaptable form able to respond to a contemporary epoch. Sinuous plateau aims to abolish the static and decorative, in an attempt to eliminate the idealization of stablished precepts in Architecture; an unpredictable fluid experience, far from equilibrium.

General concept

PROJECT DESCRIPTION Sinuous plateau aims to reflect the Lamborghini design philosophy materializing speed and motion, envisioning two new stylistically pure landmarks. There is a dynamic connection and oppositional tension between human and machine, this connection increases the sense of body as a whole, amplifying the adaptation to different environments, the proposal responds to this relation through a visual connection of continuity and velocity, adaptable and evolving. Form is a frozen moment, a selected frame in time; Sinuous plateau is based on the vortexes formed by fluid dynamics (automobile vs air) and a series of variations of the Schwarz´D Surface and the Schoen´s complementary D Surface (minimal surface) introducing a discontinuous reality, a homogeneous membrane folding and unfolding endlessly, an ode to the flowing lines reflected in Lamborghini design. A similar articulation for each landmark will create visual tension due to the proximity of elements (45m and 65m approx.), and material variation (AMAG top bright brush/mirror) will provide uniqueness to each element. MATERIAL DESCRIPTION Sinuous plateau explores the limits of double curved surfaces; materiality flows continuously fused with the contemplative phenomenon consequent from reflecting surfaces (Droste effect – a smaller version of the image within itself in a recursive manner). Main elements materiality - AMAP AP1 top bright aluminum as a primary material (exterior cladding) will reflect architectonically the high performance materiality inspired by Lamborghini aesthetic and materials - Metallic epoxy resin as a primary material (floor below landmark) - White terrazzo (crushed glass as aggregate) as a primary material for the roundabout sidewalk
