Wayfinding for List Center Adrián González — 3d Typography — Inst. Ernesto Aparicio — Winter Session 2017
Context
The building was designed by prolific American architect Philip Johnson as a commision of Brown University. It opened it’s doors to both the universitie’s body and public in the year 1971. It’s erection is the outcome of Dr. Alber List’s and family donation. The purpose from it’s construction until today has remained the same, to serve making and distribution of the arts. The “raumplan” nature of the List’s spatial distribution in addition to its loud post-modern gestures welcomes a problem in its concern for unity. The building is more concerned with the form of it’s exteior, which leads for the interior to have a radically different from the appearance, both in material and program. In addition the vertical distribution is extermely divisive. The hope of this wayfinding signage is to both respect and through consistant type bring cohesiveness to such.
