In my opinion, Interior Architecture combines the functional factors of architecture with artistic elements. Rhythm, order, proportion, concept and structure are some of the elements that generate an architectural response. But, if we mix them with other resources such as lighting, furnishings, textures, colors and materials which can be, depending on the implementation, the determinants to transform an empty space into something habitable. As an architect, I’m concern to design up to the smallest details, playing with elements and concepts that leads to the Metamorphosis of conceived spaces; and most importantly, considering the individuals that will be living in them. I want to make a difference in people’s experiences and lives. My goal is to create welcoming and lasting spaces that at the same time provoke a reaction, involving imagination and senses; making people feeling related to the space being entered.

TO GO RESTAURANT. January 2014 A trattoria is an Italian-style eating establishment, less formal than a restaurant, but more formal than a fast food local. Source Wikipedia 2014. The design challenge was to create a place that could function both as a trattoria and a pasta boutique, selling all type of pasta made in-house and related products. The owner created a mixed concept, even though those business have very different types of costumers involved. The reality was that in a 35 square meters local the two activities were impossible to accomplish, therefor, the trattoria style was implemented, but the main restaurant function was released to the outside, where tables were placed, giving enough space inside for itinerant customers. ROMAGNA, which is the name of the local, was the inspiration for the project; it is a little Italian village that still has the classic European architecture on its rustics and old facades.

GIRLY APARTMENT. April 2012 This project was developed on the social area of a one room and bathroom apartment. Objective consisted in integrating the kitchen with the living room, two different functions in a coherent and comfortable space. The table had the function to work as pivot and separation between the spaces; and at the same time provided support for both areas. The client was a girl with affection for flowers. Given that the space is small, it was decided to use solid colors in the furniture: white, gray and black, so more colors can be used as decoration. A fuchsia flowers mural was added on the living room wall, and to unify the apartment floor a wooden vinyl was selected, which is ideal for wet areas like the kitchen.

THE CITY VIEW. August 2013 This beautiful view is from a penthouse's terrace in Caracas, Venezuela. The design challenge involved a space of 40 square meters, where a barbecue and dining areas had to be resolved. A black and white picture of "The Avila" (an imposing mountain that separates the city from the sea) was used as inspiration for this project. Grayscale was selected as the color palette, brown color was employed for the flooring material, to give warmth to the cold tones used in the rest of the proposal. Wooden deck panels especially made for outdoors were placed to cover the original floor. It was decided to paint white the brick wall, to work as a texturized skin that surrounds at least half of the terrace. Lights were positioned at the edge of the deck, to create a lighting path that reflects on the wall. Stainless steel was selected for the cabinet’s doors, and also for all the elements that compose the barbecue's kitchen. The main character of the terrace is a collection of black furniture with well-defined design lines. The dining table and chairs were from the VERTEX collection from VONDON, and the center tables are KARTELL T-tables.

THE CITY APARTMENT. January 2014 A 130 square meters apartment with a privilege view of Caracas was designed for a young couple. Contemporary design pieces were mixed, resulting in a modern and cozy space. A beige marble floor was proposed to generate clarity and uniformity sensations. On the bedrooms a natural wooden floor was selected. Slate stones were installed on some of the social area walls to bring character into the apartment. Embedded lights on the ceiling were designed to delimitate the living room and on the dining room two modern big lamps were used. The kitchen integrates to the space thru the furniture that invades the dining room and the apartment access door and the kitchen furniture sides were coated with wood layers. A frosted glass door was proposed to separate the bedrooms and the social areas. To provide a visual stimulus to the dining room and to add a exhibition area, floating minimalist shelves attached to the columns were projected; these shelves keep the same lines as the panels on the access doors and the kitchen furniture.

GREEN & HEALTHY. August 2013 The client wanted a dentistry attention office for a single doctor. There were three requirements to be accomplished: First, a storage area to organize the patient’s information; Second, an office for the dentist doctor; and Third, the patients attentions area with a storage cabinet, and enough room for all the dentistry equipment, the doctor and the assistant. The space had a longitudinal area of 20 square meters. The decision was to organize the space from public to private. The project concept was wellness and health. The colors palette related are those that can be found in NATURE. • GREEN: is show in the glass divisions and also in the artificial grass placed on the wall of the waiting hall, which helps to create an outdoor environment. It was also selected because is a color that produces peace and calm. • BROWN WOOD: Vinyl wooden flooring was selected. The office desk is the single element that sticks out, not only by its form, but also by the wood texture. • GLASS: It can be related to water. This element was used to divide the spaces. The green vinyl was strategically placed in longitudinal fringes on the glass walls, to provide more privacy to other spaces. • WHITE: is the lack of color. It helps to keep some elements in a secondary position, and also makes the place look bigger, this was the case of the furniture and cabinets.

This is a compilation of three different projects, where customized furniture design was performed, and in the first two assignments they were manufactured. The work was done directly with carpenters and suppliers. A personal supervision was performed the whole installation.
FURNITURE DESING
TV FURNITURE. October - December 2012 In a house with "colonial" style (type of Venezuelan architecture of the 19th century), the furniture needed were the ones that combined the traditional style, with the advantages of modern accessories and technologies. This set the standard for design, defining the proposal as "Contemporary". The color palette present in the house has been contemplated together with the customer requirements. The material selected was wooden panels, in two different colors and linings: Dark Oak and beige. The illumination behind the central panel that holds the TV, was considered to reinforce the image of a suspended furniture (it doesn’t reach the floor).

MASTER BATHROOM. March - June 2012. The Beige Marble Tile was taken as the color palette for this project. It was developed as a modern yet functional space for a young couple. The main view is the suspended sink cabinet, and an angled glass door with the city view. It was decided to place the shower and the WC behind frosted glass doors, to create privacy and to separate the areas from public to private. To cut with the marble texture, a brown mosaic was placed on the top of the sink cabinet and also on the shower floor, and for the cabinets a Light Oak wood panel was installed. This project included: design, management and construction. It took 3 months to execute, including demolitions, materials selection and customized cabinets manufacture.

OH Marylin!!! HER & THEM. August 2013
B
A
There were two needs to develop in a 25 square meters area: First, a storage and dressing space for my client's wife "HER", and Second, a bedroom area with a TV cabinet "THEM“. An independent furniture central piece was conceived, to separate the bedroom area from the dressing room. This room already has a dressing room, but was not big enough for both clients. Therefore, another dressing room needed to be created. A picture of Marilyn Monroe in black and white that belongs to the client, was used to design the dressing room sliding door, to indicate that it was a space just for "HER". It also helps to indicate that there are two different spaces by the furniture color. In "HER" space a Light Oak Wooden was proposed, plus white cabinets and dark paper for the interior walls. For "THEM", the furniture chosen was a dark wood (wengue), that matches with the original bed set, and also with the existent floor materials.
