Every single human in the world, has the right to choose their way of living. We always have a plan for eating, living, entertaining and travelling. Nevertheless, people rarely think about the way of what are going to happen during the end of their story.
According to World Population Review, approximately 180,000 cases of death were happening in a day. Some people died in accident, some might died with suffering uncurable diseases, while some may died through suicide. About 0.4% people in this world died through assisted suicide, which was called "euthanasia"
"Death comes without any sign, but with euthanasia we know we have choices to die with dignity."
Switzerland, the only country where euthanasia is legalized and tolerated, yet they still have selected policy to control and prevent misconduct of crime representation. As consquences of this condition, many foreigners visit Switzerland seeking for euthanasia. The organization, like Exit and Dignitas, these group of people were accomplished and fulfiled people's willing to end their life from suffering. The physicians only proceed when they received the permission from the patients.
These conversations would lead to a complicated challege, the questions would be how could elders convinced their family with the unconventional decision they made? Can the design affects the people's self determination to decision making within life-limiting or terminal illness?
This thesis seeks to promote an imagined experience of short-period living mode which target the specific emotional and psychological demand for elders by dignity, socializing, and represent the historical and cultural identity of the architecture building.

It was a story about imagination of hope in Palestine. There were a bunch of palestinian talking about their dream and hope in a bar. Thinking how together they can open up rich possibilities in terms of how they think the future will be? The artist and the architect tried to visualise the ideas of their imagination of future in Palestine.
“Imagination is a powerful force”
Living under a high intense of pressure and unstable environment which makes people to hope and wish for a better place. A site in Tel al-Hawa ("Hill of the Wind") is a neighborhood in the southern part of the Palestinian city of Gaza. Founded by the Palestinian National Authority in the late 1990s, Tel al-Hawa is one of the more affluent areas of the city. It was the scene of some of the fiercest fighting of the war which made the place as a symbol of lost hope and disconnected of the junkyard.
This proposal will be designed with a series of story, understanding the surrounding site and how will the imagination of architectural intervention changed the scenarios and create a higher employbility, more connected and a new marking on site.
Part 1: Immagination and Inspiration
There are five mechanicals sitting at the same table simultaneously chatting about recent happening in Gaza. These topic leads the conversation to how theyimmagine and rethink about the transformation of Palestine in the future.
Did the issues solve? How the Palestinians’ lives will be? Did the confiicts stillhappening? More and more questions keeps appeared in their minds.
The collections of questions and ideas combined together to form the creation of a drawing of reimagining the relationship between the junkyard, people and the nature. In this conversation, which were conceived collaboratively by the fivemechanicals as a part of the creation of “Junktopia” to develop a shared vision of a future creation from an underdeveloped and underinvested country in Gaza Strips.
Later on, they begin to get some drinks from the bar. They were getting more excitedas the conversation kept on going. The narrative begin with the abandoned junkyard in Tel al-Hawa. Farid said he lived there before. Nothing much on that site, just a hugejunkyard. Many palestinians were leaving there because the situation of the site were terrible. Scrap threw everywhere, water get polluted, open burning occured which would caused the releasing of poison gas that affected human health.
Suddenly, Abu Gharaba asked why not to rethink and create a better environment forthe future. They use the junkyard as their site and transform the abandoned towers into a dreamscape. Reuse and recyle those material from the junkyard to make morecars to achieve their dreams. Here, the junkyards for all of the materials needed for constructions and the creation of a system of permaculture. A livable imagine place for mechanicals to work and live by connecting more things up which makes future richer of urban life.
Part 3: Visualisation of Junktopia
After a couple hours of conversation, Munir had a good idea and wanted to invite themvisiting his house. To celebrate the moment which they had a long conversation aboutthe dreams and aspirations, Munir wanted to design and make a model from the conversation they had it just now. He will keep the models and drawing as a part ofhis collections.
Five mechanicals were excited to visit his house. They found there were so many amazing collections in his garage and he did mention that most of the things he collected from the junkyard. Some of the parts could be reused as a components forvehicles or machinery. The dreams and ambitions kept Munir alives and gave him a lotof motivations for creating more possibilities in the future.
“If you don’t dream, you might as well be dead”. by George Foreman
Meeting at his garage for modela making, they enjoyed the conversations with some coffee. It was so amazing how moments of meeting new friends and encourage each others to live with their dreams, not just survived.
OMI-ZAKAYA REVITALIZATION
Revitalization of Shinamani
Nancy Ji
As one of the most historical islands in the Seto inland sea, Omishima is not only famous for citrus and museums but also has one of the most well known shrines, Oyamazumi Jinja Shrine, the ancient Shinto sanctuary and holy pilgrimage destination for Japan’s warriors for more than 1400 years. The shrine still features a small rice paddy field which is maintained for festival purposes. We took inspiration from the rice fields and emerging new industries on the island including a winery and craft beer business started by migrants in recent years to propose ‘Omi-Zakaya; a place that provides a series of sake experiences for locals and tourists.
The proposal aims to reactivate the underutilized riverbank by creating a structure that links both sides of the river together as well as offer a closer connection to the water through the design of several floating platforms. To celebrate the appreciation of Oyamazumi shrine, the OmiZakaya is built with a Japanese integral timber architectural system (without nails or metal supports) by referencing traditional Japanese timber construction and digital fabrication technology. It embraces and respects the new in a representative of Japanese culture.

Hybrid High Rise Building in Melbourne CBD
Dr Giorgio MarfellaThe proposed tower sits in a prominent location in Melbourne CBD, with its west and south facades being highly visible from afar. Sitting opposite Southern Cross Station, where there is high pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the tower’s site provides the opportunity to utilise its connection to the surrounding context to dictate the vertical strategy.
Beginning from the placement of the tower, the inclusion of a public open area was specified as a requirement for the site and hence the positioning of the tower towards the southern end of the site allows for this space to be opened for this purpose. This was also a direct response to sunpaths which would allow more daylight to reach the northern end of the site as opposed to placing the tower on the north and the public open space on the south which would suffer from overshadowing. A plot ratio (FAR) of 15:1 and minimum floor plate efficiency values were used to help our initial calculations of the number of floors, height and building footprint we should pursue. The buildings height was maximised to make use of the extensive views above the CBD, further informing our building design to create a tall and slender building mass. In addition, to extend views towards the Yarra River on the Southwest, the corresponding corner of the building was chamfered, also acting as an indication of the possible entrances to the building.

MASSING Using the FAR value to calculate the total GFA allowed and positioning our massing towards one end of the site allowed the introduction of a garden.
SITE RESPONSE To maximise views towards the Yarra River, the South West edge of the tower was chamfered. This new facade also faces Southern Cross Station, forming a relationship with the high traffic flow from that area.
CORE DESIGN To cater to the potential users of the site, the configuration and design of the core ensurs efficient and smooth circulation within the building while achieving highest possible floor plate efficiency.
FLOORPLATE DESIGN
Following the core design, leasing depth was considered. A maximum depth of 12m from the edge of the floorplate to the external wall of the core is implemented on all floors.
CROWN DESIGN The crown design follows the language of the tower, responding to the chamfered edge and contributing to Melbourne’s

The Un-Commons is a speculative exploration that delves into the question of private-property ownership in Victoria in the year 2050, a founding principle in the capitalist mode of production.
The Un-commons imagines an extreme reality where it is no longer legal to own anything, be it land, ideas, or objects. Inplace, everything is loaned from the commons, a governing body that dictates the provision of our necessities through an algorithm. In-turn, we’ve become migratory nomads within our densely packed cities, as the western notion of property ownership has slowly been replaced with far more relational conceptions of living. Through the development of decentralised blockchains and smart-contracts, our temporary possession of a certain property or object is made explicit – and our behaviour towards it, recorded and accounted for by the commons.
In light to this extreme, the un-commons aims to pivot from one fundamental question, what will the domestic condition look like in an era where the notion of ownership has been abolished?
Perhaps one of the more explicit fragments within the scene, serving as an apparatus of the smart-contract, recording the occupancy and enforcing the time left for that tenancy, while presenting the when the next tenancy begins.
A rough-ut and rudimentary chair design. Enzo designed so it was highly replicable by the regular person with minimal exposure and experience with carpentry. These chairs are assembled through just hammer/nails. I believe this speaks to a culture of bricolage and improvisation, therefore very relevant to the narrative we have attempted to capture in “The un-commons”.
A political fragment, and more telling of the broader societal reaction towards this way of life, by implying that there is a level of civil unrest we can assume that there a multitude of people who feel hesitant to conform to the abolition of property ownership, and in some cases, this could be described through the improvisation of the mapping across the walls, the plaster repairs from the constant nailing of picture frames suggest this notion of individuality and improvisation still existing within those who reside in these spaces.
