Fasching: mischief and merriment
“Narren,” or Fasching fools, participate in last year’s Fasching parade in Weil der Stadt. This year’s event will be held Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. During the various Fasching parades in Southern Germany, Narren wear wooden masks carved in the images of witches, devils and grotesque animals. Be on the lookout for Narren; they may ruffle your hair, paint your face, steal a hair band or give you a piece of candy. For the full story, see Pages 12-13. — Photo by R.
