irmen of the 86th Airlift Wing welcomed a new commander during the change of command ceremony Monday on Ramstein. Brig. Gen. Patrick X. Mordente assumed command from Brig. Gen. C. K. Hyde in the dual bay hangar while Lt. Gen. Craig A. Franklin, 3rd Air Force commander, officiated the ceremony. “The Airmen who are going to be under your command here in a few minutes are not only our greatest assets, but they are the heart and soul of USAFE and AFAFRICA,” Franklin said. “They are the future of the greatest Air Force in the world.” Upon assuming command of See COMMAND, Page 3

Command uncases colors at new headquarters by Installation Management Command-Europe Public Affairs The U.S. Army Installation Management Command-Europe officially transferred from Heidelberg to Sembach during an uncasing of the unit colors at its new headquarters on Sembach Kaserne. The IMCOM-Europe move is part of the U.S. Army’s transformation in Europe, which will include the closing of U.S. Army facilities in Heidelberg.
“IMCOM-Europe is preparing for the future today by consolidating, divesting and investing here in Europe,” said Kathleen Y. Marin, director of IMCOMEurope. “IMCOM-Europe’s move to Sembach is part of that process.” IMCOM-Europe is rapidly consolidating Cold War-era installations into hubs of excellence, one of which is located at U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern.
