We are a well-established company with an emphasis on responsible travel and high quality independent holidays. The founder Gavin Bate is an international mountain leader and has been leading high altitude expeditions to the Greater Ranges and adventure holidays for twenty years. We have twice won the Responsible Travel Awards and we make sure our ideals translate into real benefits for the people we work with. Our holidays really do improve people’s lives and we find that our clients enjoy their experience a lot more. We are also independently assessed to conform to the British Standard 8848 for overseas expeditions.
Our bespoke adventures cater for luxury honeymoons, active families, or intrepid couples and groups looking for a combination of activities and destinations not already offered on our itineraries. We offer a personal service with expert knowledge across a myriad of world destinations. They can be as independent or as all inclusive as you wish, tailoring an itinerary that takes care of you from the day you land, to the day you leave.
Company founder Gavin Bate has climbed Mount Everest six times and summited in 2011 to fundraise for Moving Mountains Trust.
Moving Mountains charity Our charity Moving Mountains Trust was founded by Gavin Bate at the same time as Adventure Alternative. The company supports the administrative costs of the charity and runs many volunteer trips, electives and school expeditions to project locations. For many years now Moving Mountains has provided long term support for communities in east Africa, Nepal and Borneo.
