Aquarium Careers
Theater-style setting, ideal for large groups, half-hour session.
Food chains are so last year! Students will develop an ocean food web, and make scientific guesses about the relationships between predators and prey.
From marine biologists and veterinarians, it takes a lot of people to keep an aquarium running smoothly. This lesson is great for students considering STEM careers, or those wanting a peek into the daily life of our animals and staff.
Grades 1st – 2nd Endangered at Adventure Penguin Fun Why don’t penguins fly? How do penguins raise their chicks? Why do penguins wear tuxedos? Find out all you need to know about these fascinating birds! Please note: Live penguins are not included in the class.
Adventure Aquarium is home to many important endangered species. Students will explore what it means to be an endangered species, and learn about the threats facing our animal ambassadors.
Sharks! What’s Your Habitat? Home sweet home is very different if you are an octopus or a hippopotamus. This lesson investigates the variety of habitats from around the world using live classroom animals.
Life on the Reef Coral reefs are the most colorful and diverse ecosystems in the ocean. Explore the biology of corals and discover many incredible reef animals that call a coral reef home.
Shark populations are declining faster than they can rebound. Students will learn about different threats to sharks and why it is important to protect this ancient predator.
Special Needs
Investigating Invertebrates Students will engage with live animals as well as animal artifacts to examine how creatures without bones survive in the seas.
This class uses imitation to encourage movement, vocalization and creative thought. Students will be introduced to various marine animals and invited to engage their imaginations by imitating their movements and sounds. This class involves many real animal artifacts and a live animal, which students will have the option to touch.
Built for Change
Terrific Turtles
Compare and contrast animal adaptations and how they allow animals to survive our changing environment.
This lesson is for students fascinated by sea turtles and tortoises alike! Students will meet a few of our live turtles in residence, and have the opportunity to touch some turtle–related artifacts. This class uses live animals without direct animal contact.
Shark Attack Students will examine the forensics of shark attacks in order to separate fact from fiction in this data-driven lesson.
Sharks: Truth or Fiction Grades 5th — 8th Do movies tell the truth about sharks and shark attacks? Find out in this interactive program about shark species, shark behavior and the relationship between sharks and humans.
Classes move at a pace appropriate to students’ curiosity, and attempt to accommodate multiple learning styles.
I Am a Seastar
