Middle East
Overview
Luxor Temple
The Middle East The Middle East is quite simply extraordinary, one of the world's most fascinating and rewarding travel destinations. It was here that some of the most signiďŹ cant civilisations of antiquity rose and fell and where the three great monotheistic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - were born. Left behind is an astonishing open-air museum of ancient cities and historic buildings, the stones of which still resonate with the sounds of the faithful. The Middle East is home to some of the world's most signiďŹ cant cities – Jerusalem, Cairo, Beirut, and Istanbul. The ruins of the once similarly epic cities of history - Petra, Baalbek, Leptis Magna and the bounty of ancient Egypt - also mark the passage of centuries in a region where the ancient world lives and breathes.
Above all else, however, your most enduring memory of the Middle East is likely to be its people. Their gracious welcome, many kindnesses and boundless hospitality speak of an altogether more civilised age. This is a region for discerning travellers, for those looking for the story behind the headline, and where the bridges between ancient and modern civilisations are everywhere evident. If you believe what the media tells you and decide not to visit, you'd be missing out on the journey of a lifetime. Most of the Middle East is best visited in autumn and spring (September to November and March to May). December and January can be fairly bleak and overcast everywhere in the region; even in southern Egypt and desert temperatures can be bitterly cold. Ramadan is the holiest month of the Muslim calender when all believers fast during daylight hours. Almost everything closes in the afternoon but the evenings are full of festivities as they break their fast. Ramadan will start 20 July 2012 and continue for 30 days.
The landscapes of the region are equally spellbinding, from the unrivalled seas of sand dunes and the Sahara desert to the stunning mountains of the north and the underwater world of the Red Sea.

Overview
Middle East
The highlights PYRAMIDS OF GIZA, EGYPT You haven’t been to Egypt unless you’ve stood at the base of these magnificent mountains. The sole survivor of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Pyramids of Giza still live up to more than 4000 years of hype.. Their extraordinary shape, geometry and age render them somehow alien constructions.
PETRA, JORDAN Petra is the sort of place that usually exists only in the imagination. This unique ancient city was hewn from a towering rock wall; few of the imposing facades of its great buildings are freestanding. Make sure you take as much film as you can carry because every nook and cranny is a Kodak moment.
BAALBEK, LEBANON Baalbek, the ‘Sun City’ of the ancient world, is home to the most impressive ancient site in Lebanon and arguably the most important Roman site in the Middle East. The ancient city has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the wonders of the world and mystics still attribute special powers to the courtyard complex.
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL People have been writing about Jerusalem for the better part of its 3000-year history, but still today your first glimpse inside the ancient walled city will leave you speechless. More than beautiful, however, Jerusalem is a spiritual centre, holy to the three great monotheistic faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
OMAN Like a treasure chest waiting to be discovered, the Sultanate of Oman is the land heralded as the Jewel of Arabia. With its splendours and wealth having been acclaimed by world travellers such as Marco Polo, this most breathtaking destination boasts a fascinating history and rich cultural traditions spanning 5000 years.
FEZ, MOROCCO The oldest of the imperial cities, Fez measures the symbolic heartbeat of the country. Founded shortly after the Arabs exploded across North Africa and Spain, it quickly became the country's religious and cultural centre.

Overview
Egypt
Egypt The land that gave birth to the first great civilisation needs little introduction. The pyramids, the minarets, the Nile – the scope of Egypt is magnificent. Visitors are surprised to discover that those legendary pyramids are merely the tip of the archaeological iceberg. Pharaonic nations, ancient Greeks, Romans, Christians and Arab dynasties have all played their part in fashioning Egypt’s embarrassment of architectural wealth. Cairo’s chaos whirrs around a medieval core that has remained unchanged since the founding days of Islam. It doesn’t take long, however, to acclimatise to Cairo’s wall of noise, snarl of traffic, cry of hawkers and blanket of smog, and get drawn into the hypnotising charm of this pulsating metropolis. Known to its nearly 20 million residents as Um ad-Dunya (Mother of the World), modern Cairo is a hotchpotch of recent growth barely superimposed on a dense bed of history. Wander down to Islamic Cairo and you’ll be sucked in through the looking glass to a bygone medieval era. Head out west to Giza’s famed pyramids and the time warp sets you back a full 4000 years. Meanwhile, the city’s main museum bursts at the seams with the priceless wealth of ancient Egypt’s antiquities. But the real allure of Cairo lies somewhere in the quiet moments in between: sipping a sugary shai or puffing leisurely on a sheesha while watching the life of the city whirl past as it has for eons. Upriver, Luxor, the site of ancient Thebes, is lined with warrens of opulent burial chambers and boasts some of the most formidable monuments in all antiquity. Contemporary Luxor is an eccentric combination of provincial town and staggering ancient splendour. The concentration of monuments is extraordinary: they tower incongruously above the buzz of everyday life and make this a most compelling destination. Further south at Aswan, even more geometrically imposing temples write a testament to the power of archaic gods and omnipotent pharaohs. It is here that the Nile is best explored by ancient sail, on a felucca (Egyptian sailing boat) at the hands of the prevailing currents and winds. Out west, Egypt’s ocean of sand stretches infinitely to the Sahara, with a handful of oases feeding solitary islands of green. Hive like, medieval fortresses cower out here, interspersed with bubbling springs and ghostly rock formations. Meanwhile, the deep, crystal waters of the Red Sea lie brilliantly awash in coral, surrounded by an aquatic frenzy of underwater life. In the deserts of Sinai’s interior, visitors can climb the mount where God had words with Moses, and spend their remaining days in halcyon bliss at coastal resorts.

OUR TOP PICKS FOR EGYPT 1 Cairo For a glimpse of the more recent past, wander through the dusty, decrepit glamour of Garden City, a labyrinth of crumbling 19th and early-20th-century mansions. 2 Alexandria Sip coffee, smoke sheesha (water pipe), or join in on the heated debates that take place in the many antique coffee houses that dot this hip metropolis. 3 Pyramids of Giza You haven't been to Egypt unless you've stood at the base of these megaton monuments. 4 Great Sand Sea Skirt the edge of the vast sand dunes that make up one of the most impenetrable deserts in the world
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL The best time to visit Egypt depends on where you want to go. Generally speaking, winter (December to February) is the tourist high season and summer (June to August) is the low season in all parts of the country except on the coasts, and to a lesser degree in Cairo. Weather-wise, June to August is unbearable almost anywhere south of Cairo. The happiest compromise for an all-Egypt trip is to visit in spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November).

Jordan
Overview
Jordan
Three Crescent Moons, Jordan
For many people Jordan begins and ends with the magical ancient Nabataean city of Petra. And it's true, Petra is without doubt one of the Middle East’s most spectacular, unmissable sights, battling it out with Machu Picchu or Angkor Wat for the title of the world's most dramatic 'lost city'.
Jerash AMMAN Madaba DEAD SEA Mt Nebo
Yet there's so much more to see in Jordan – ruined Roman cities, Crusader castles, desert citadels and powerful biblical sites: the brook where Jesus was baptised, the fortress where Herod beheaded John the Baptist and the mountain top where Moses cast eyes on the Promised Land. Biblical scenes are not just consigned to the past in Jordan; you'll see plenty of men wearing full-flowing robes and leading herds of livestock across the timeless desert. But it's not all crusty ruins.
Kerak
JORDAN Petra
The ruins at Jerash are one of Jordan’s major attractions and still have the power to evoke the ghosts of Rome. It's one of the best examples in the Middle East of a Roman provincial city, and is remarkably well preserved. Jordan's capital Amman is a modern, culturally diverse Arab city which is light years away from the typical cliches of Middle Eastern exoticism. The country also offers some of the wildest adventures in the region, as well as an incredibly varied backdrop ranging from the red desert sands of Wadi Rum to the brilliant blues of the coral-filled Gulf of Aqaba; from rich palm-filled wadis to the lifeless Dead Sea. At an elevation of 400m below sea level, the Dead Sea shoreline is the lowest bit of dry real estate in the world. Jordanians are a passionate and proud people and the country truly welcomes visitors with open arms. Regardless of your nationality, you'll be greeted with nothing but courtesy and hospitality in this gem of a country.
OUR TOP PICKS FOR JORDAN 1 Jerash One of the best–preserved ancient Roman cities in the Middle East. 2 Mt Nebo Stand on the site where Moses looked out over the Promised Land.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL For a small country, Jordan has an extraordinary range of climates. The best time to visit climate-wise is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures aren't too extreme. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea. Winter can be surprisingly cold. Snow in Amman is not unheard of (even Petra gets the occasional fall) and the deserts can be freezing, especially at night. In high summer (July and August) the weather in the humid Jordan Valley is extremely oppressive.
3 Dead Sea Try floating in the salty water in the lowest place on earth. 4 Kerak Labyrinthine Crusader castle that dominates the walled town below. 5 Madaba Mellow small-town vibe that offers wonderful Byzantine mosaics and lots of day trips.

Overview
Lebanon
Lebanon Coolly combining the ancient with the ultramodern, Lebanon is one of the most captivating countries in the Middle East. From the Phoenician findings of Tyre and Roman Baalbek’s 's tremendous temple to Beirut’s BO18 and Bernard Khoury's modern movement, the span of Lebanon's history leaves many visitors spinning. Tripoli is considered to have the best souk in the country and is famous for its Mamluk architecture. It's well equipped with a taste of modernity as well; Jounieh, formerly a sleepy fishing village, is a town alive with nightclubs and glitz on summer weekends.
Byblos
WHEN TO GO Spring (March to May) is best for hiking in Lebanon, since the fields and slopes are green, lush and sprinkled with flowers. By May, the weather is often warm enough for a dip in the Mediterranean – and you could even try taking to the ski slopes in the morning and swimming on the coast in the afternoon, as the Lebanese are at great pains to point out. Summer (June to September) is the time for sun seekers, when Beirut’s beach clubs are hot. Summer is also the season for festivals, many of which are held outdoors in spectacular locations. The winter ski season usually cranks up in early December and can last until early May.
With all of the Middle East’s best bits - warm and welcoming people, mind-blowing history and considerable culture, Lebanon is also the antithesis of many people's imaginings of the Middle East: mostly mountainous with skiing to boot, it's also laid-back, liberal and fun. While Beirut is fast becoming the region's party place, Lebanon is working hard to recapture its crown as the 'Paris of the Orient'.
Tripoli Bcharre Byblos
The rejuvenation of the city Central District is one of the largest, most ambitious urban redevelopment projects ever undertaken. Travellers will find the excitement surrounding this and other developments and designs palpable - and very infectious.
Baalbek BEIRUT LEBANON
Finally, Lebanon's cuisine is considered the richest of the region. From hummus to lobster, you'll dine like a king. With legendary sights, hospitality, food and nightlife, what more could a traveller want?

Overview Israel
Israel
Praying at the Western Wall
Israel is one of the world’s oldest travel destinations. Everyone from Moses to Mark Twain has dreamed of going there. The appearance of prophets seems to be dwindling and the Crusaders have long since hung up their swords and shields, but travellers still come in droves, almost magnetically, to this land still considered holy by countless millions.
Rosh Hanikra Acre Haifa Caesarea
Nazareth
Tel Aviv Jericho
JERUSALEM
The appeal of Israel’s ancient and holy past may be obvious enough but many new arrivals are surprised to see that it’s much more than a lesson in history. People have been writing about Jerusalem for the better part of its 3000-year history, but still today your first glimpse inside the ancient walled city will leave you speechless. More than beautiful, however, Jerusalem is a spiritual centre, holy to the three great monotheistic faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Dead Sea Masada
ISRAEL
Jerusalem may only be 80km up the road, but culturally, socially and psychologically it may as well be a million miles away. While Jerusalemites flock to the holy sites, Tel Avivans hit the clubs. Kippas are swapped for sun visors, gefilte fish for sushi and quarried stone for poured concrete. If it’s 3000 years of history you’re after, head for the hills, but if you’re dead set on partying by the Med shores, pack your volleyball and bathing suit and visit the city by the sea. The whole country is a tightly packed ball of everything from Mt Masada and the Negev desert to the beaches of Eilat. On a leisurely weekend you could surf, ski, sip wine, ride horses, go clubbing in TelAviv or enjoy some cutting-edge theatre – and that’s just the start. You can also work on a kibbutz, volunteer at a West Bank school, float in the Dead Sea, hike across the Israel National Trail.

Like the patchwork of new arrivals at Ben-Gurion airport, Israel is an amalgamation of peoples who arrived over centuries of time, each one staking their claim to the land. Territorial disputes led to violence, which in turn made for some epic accounts in the Bible – not terribly dissimilar to what is playing out on nightly newscasts where you are today. But contrary to popular belief, Israel is not a war zone to be avoided, and it has such rigid security that travel is surprisingly safe.
OUR TOP PICKS FOR ISRAEL 1 Jerusalem One of the world's great holy cities, oozing with history, spirituality and intangible drama. 2 Nazareth Stomping ground of a young Jesus and now an Arab city of winding lanes and archaic churches. 3 The Galilee Spectacular lake with much Christian lore attached to it, best seen by bicycle.
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL Israel is open for all seasons, but there are a few factors to consider when planning your trip. Weather-wise, the best time to visit is in the spring (April and May) or autumn (September and October) when temperatures are mild in most areas. November and March are likewise pleasant but do see some rain, especially in the coastal areas and up north. Consider regional temperatures; while the south is still pleasant in November, the Golan will be cold and wet. Winter (mid-November to mid-March) can be surprisingly chilly, with heavy rain along the coast and frost in the highlands. Summertime temperatures in the far south are extreme. Eilat will see highs topping 40°C, but this is a dry heat. The weather can be even more oppressive in Tel Aviv where the humidity will make you sweat standing in the shade. This is a good time to visit Jerusalem or other highland areas that are less affected by coastal humidity.
4 Tel Aviv Pulsating metropolis of all-night discos, sophisticated restaurants and a youthful vibe that's both cutting edge and counterculture.

Overview United
Arab Emirates
Dubai Marina
United Arab Emirates Dubai is an international business city with a relaxed beach resort, combining the sophistication of the 21st century with the simplicity of traditional ways.
Ras al-Khaimah Umm al Quwain Ajman Sharjah Dubai
On the surface Dubai is glitzy, glam and materialistic beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. Every visitor is treated like a VIP and visitors respond by spending like VIPs. We’re talking about a city that virtually invented the ‘shopping festival’ (Dubai Shopping Festival, or DSF). With myriad shopping malls, flamboyant hotels, a dizzying array of dining options and hip clubs and bars, it’s all just too easy. Under the surface another Dubai exists. Head to the Heritage Village during Ramadan or the DSF and you’ll witness a different Dubai, where local Emiratis take joy in their songs, dance and traditions. Spend a few fascinating hours by the creek, watching the dhow (traditional wooden boat) traffic and the abras weave along the waterway while smoking some sheesha. Walk the streets of the tranquil, restored Bastakia area or take a stroll through multicultural Karama or Satwa. You’ll find this Dubai a million miles removed from the credit-card frenzy of the five-star hotels. Whatever you end up preferring, Dubai is a fascinating experiment and a city-state that’s like no other. Jumeirah is the stretch of coastline south of the city and is home to Dubai's beach resorts. The area is where you find some of the most remarkable construction projects on earth. The artificial islands of The Palms and The World can be seen from space; and of course the Burj Al Arab is a Dubai landmark. A visit to the desert is a must on anyone's itinerary to Dubai. Desert oasis, date palms, camel farms and barren mountains are part of the landscape that you'll see on any sightseeing tour that leaves Dubai. Dune driving by 4WD is exhilarating and the Sundowner Dune Dinner gives both an ideal introduction to this and a glimpse of the Arabian Nights, dining under the stars. Other desert activities include camel riding, sand skiing and exploring the wadis (or dry river beds) that flow after the winter rains from the Hajar Mountains. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is huge by comparison to the other Emirates, comprising almost 87% of the country’s total area. Just as 50 years ago Abu Dhabi was little more than a fishing village comprising a fort, a few coral buildings and a smattering of barasti huts, the rest of the emirate is very ‘Arabian Sands’ with its enigmatic empty desert, dotted with oases such as Al-Ain and Liwa.

OUR TOP PICKS FOR UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 1 Dune driving Driving in sand is an adventure in itself, combining the excitement of a roller-coaster ride with the challenge of remaining mobile on a shifting surface. 2 Camel riding As the symbols of Arabia, camels are a major tourist attraction. Camel rides often form an integral part of tours and desert safaris. 3 Exploring the wadis A popular pastime is exploring the wadis or dry river beds that flow after the winter rains from the Hajar Mountains. Many wadis offer scenes of unexpected beauty: attractive rock pools, some with water year-round; surrounded by greenery. 4WD are required and are available for hire with or without drivers. 4 Sand-skiing For those with a taste of speed and an enthusiasm for unusual sports. Special boards are used and high dunes in the interior of the desert are chosen as slopes. 5 Desert feasts Particularly popular are safaris that culminate in spectacular desert sunsets followed by a traditional Arabian barbeque under the stars.
The Peninsula is best visited between November and March. Between April and early October temperatures are hot and can reach 50°C. Between June and September it is the monsoon season in some areas. Content courtesy of Lonely Planet.

Oman
Overview
Wadi Darbaat Waterfall
Oman Combining breathtaking natural beauty with wellpreserved cultural heritage, the Sultanate of Oman is one of the least known, yet most exciting tourist destinations in the Middle East. Distinctly proud of its traditions, Oman is a land of friendly faces, exceptional hospitality and dramatic landscapes. Jagged mountains, palm-studded valleys, white sandy beaches, and vibrant coral reefs make this one of the most refreshing new holiday options on offer and it comes with an exemplary safety record to boot.

OMAN
Muscat, Oman’s capital is a fascinating Middle Eastern city, providing an aesthetic blend of ancient and modern. Nestled between the seemingly impenetrable mountains and the azure waters of the Gulf of Oman, a fascinating maze of souks and colonial heritage sites are on offer, alongside adventure water sports, shopping and relaxing beach life. Diving and snorkelling are fast becoming a popular reason to journey to Oman as there is a spectacular, virtually unexplored, 1700km long coral reef located close to the shoreline. The Omani coastline is at its most inviting around Salalah, the southernmost province. Here, with the generous rainfall of the summer monsoons, comes a dash of new growth, bringing an unexpected luscious green to this typically arid country.
OUR TOP PICKS FOR OMAN 1 Jebel Shams, the Mountain of the Sun'. At 3300m, it is the highest point on the Arabian Peninsula. Beneath it lies the breathtakingly beautiful Grand Canyon of Arabia. 2 Salalah, facing south over the Arabian Sea, it boasts pristine white beaches to accompany its enviable climate. With its beautiful hotels, colourful souks, and a stunning natural backdrop it’s one of the country’s favourite cities for travellers. 3 Wahiba Sands one of the more authentic dune-driving experiences in the region. 4WD through the hues of copper-coloured sands, which stretch as far as the eye can see, and glimpse the traditional life of the nomadic Bedouins. 4 Ras al-Jinz A modern, interactive visitor centre provides an educational background to one of nature’s true spectacles: the nocturnal nesting of sea turtles on a stretch of unspoiled beach.

Oman enjoys an unspoilt culture and traditional lifestyle whilst remaining distinctly Arabic in its development. Pride is taken in the country’s long history; maintaining traditional customs and dress, as well as fastidiously restoring historical monuments and strict regulations on building designs. This does not, however, affect the open attitude of the locals to foreign concepts and ideals.

5 Musandam Peninsula at the far northern tip of Oman, isolated from the rest of the country by the east coast of the UAE. Rocky inlets, majestic mountain passes and small hospitable villages dot the area. The best way to explore this remarkable neck of land is by dhow, the traditional Arabian boat of the region, and dolphins can often be seen swimming alongside.
BEST TIME TO VISIT Summer is June-August, autumn is September-November, winter is December to February, and spring is March-May. Oman typically only experiences a few days of rain each year, with the exception of Dhofar (in southern Oman) which has a monsoonal climate from July-September while the rest of the country is experiencing the heat of summer. Summer in the rest of Oman is the low season for tourists as the high temperatures generally prohibit much outdoor activity. The remainder of the year, however, travellers can be confident of experiencing sunny blue skies for most of their time in Oman.

Morocco
Overview
Ait Benhaddou Kasbah
Morocco For many travellers, Morocco might just be a short hop away by ferry or by one of the myriad budget airlines from Spain, but it’s a much further distance to travel culturally. The regular certainties of Europe are suddenly swept away by the arrival in full technicolour of Africa and Islam. RABAT
Tangier, has traditionally been a first port of call, but the winds blow you quickly along the Atlantic coast to the cosmopolitan and moviestar famous Casablanca, and whitewashed fishing port gems of Asalih and Essaouira. Many travellers stay in Casablanca just long enough to change planes or catch a train, but the sprawling metropolis deserves more time. It may not be as exotic as other Moroccan cities, but it is the country’s economical and cultural capital, and it represents Morocco on the move: Casablanca is where the money is being made, where the industry is, where art galleries show the best contemporary art and where fashion designers have a window on the world. The old pirate lair is looking towards the future, showing off its wealth and achievements. Inland, the great imperial cities of Marrakech and Fez attract visitors in droves as they have done for centuries. From the moment you arrive in Marrakech, you’ll get the distinct feeling you’ve left something behind – a toothbrush or socks, maybe? But no, what you’ll be missing in Marrakech is predictability and all sense of direction. Never mind: you’re better off without them here. Marrakech is too packed with mind-boggling distractions and labyrinthine alleyways to adhere to boring linear logic. If you did have a destination, you’d only be waylaid by snake charmers, out-of-control donkey carts, trendy silver leather poufs and ancient Berber cures for everything from relationships to rent. If you really want to escape from everything, Morocco still has a couple of trump cards. The High Atlas Mountains seem custom-made for hiking boots, with endless trails between Berber villages, and North Africa’s highest peak (Jebel Toubkal) to conquer. Or if you prefer someone else to do the walking, simply saddle up your camel and ride it straight into the Sahara, to watch the sun setting over an ocean of sand.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL Morocco is at its best in spring (mid-March to May), when the country is lush and green, followed by autumn (September to November), when the heat of summer has eased. At other times, don’t underestimate the extremes of summer heat and winter, particularly in the High Atlas, where snowcapped peaks persist from November to July. If you are travelling in winter, head for the south, although be prepared for bitterly cold nights. The north coast and the Rif Mountains are frequently wet and cloudy in winter and early spring.
2 Meknes Travel by horse-drawn carriage past the architectural splendours of this compact imperial city. 3 Fez Dive deep into the maze of Fez’s ancient medina - the world's most intact medieval Arab city. 4 Casablanca Admire Casa's stunning whitewashed colonial buildings and take in the fast beat of contemporary Morocco.

Responsible Tourism
Responsible Tourism At Adventure World we promote responsible travel to areas that conserve the natural environment and improve the well-being of those indigenous people. Working closely with our local ground operators, several who have won the prestigious AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators) Responsible Tourism Award, we aim to promote responsible, sustainable tourism in all areas we visit. Tourism can be a positive force; notably providing income for poor communities and backing conservation by demonstrating those delicate habitats and their animal inhabitants are worth more to local people intact.
Understanding the potential harm that can come from promoting tourism through many of the delicate environments in which we operate is reflected in our ideology of 'leave no trace' tourism and we are continually monitoring our ground operations to ensure they meet with our high standards. Adventure World also offers a range of Volunteer Tours to various destinations, where you can combine a rewarding volunteer program with an exciting holiday.

PRICE GUARANTEE ON FULL PAYMENT Prices in this brochure are based on costs and exchange rates as at 26 September 2011. Should these costs change it may be necessary to make a surcharge on the price of your holiday which will be advised to you at the time you book. However no surcharge in respect to cost or currency fluctuations will be made to the arrangements of your holiday once full payment has been received by Adventure World, unless any changes are made to your booking in accordance with these terms and conditions. This price guarantee does not apply to: (i) fares, charges or levies imposed by airlines up until ticketing; or (ii) any taxes, charges or levies imposed by any government or their agencies. 4. AMENDMENTS One change per booking is permitted free of charge. Each subsequent change will incur a fee of NZD75 per amendment to cover extra administrative and communication costs. In addition, cancellation and/ or amendment fees may also be imposed by service providers such as accommodation providers and other service providers depending on the nature of the change. To the extent we are able to do so, we will advise you of all applicable cancellation and/ or amendment charges at the time of confirmation of your booking. Separate conditions apply to air arrangements and are set out in Section 9 of these terms and conditions. 5. LATE BOOKINGS A fee of NZD75 per booking will be levied for bookings made within 10 working days of departure from New Zealand. Any booking request made within 10 working days or within any relevant supplier’s cancellation period cannot be processed until full payment has been received by Adventure World. 6. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS – LAND ARRANGEMENTS If you decide to cancel your holiday or you are unable to travel Adventure World will refund the amount you have paid less (i) our reasonable costs and (ii) any cancellation fees imposed by other suppliers. It is likely that other suppliers’ cancellation fees (which we will pass on to you) will be greater when cancellation takes place closer to the departure date. If you notify us of cancellation more than 60 days before departure, then the cancellation charges are likely to only be the loss of your deposit. If you notify us of cancellation less than 60 days before departure, the cancellation charges may be up to 100% of the total booking cost. Regrettably cancellation charges cannot be waived. No refunds are available for unused services after departure from original city.
7. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS – AIR ARRANGEMENTS Cancellation fees will apply as required by airlines regulations and will vary dependant upon the type of airfare utilised. Airfare prices and conditions are subject to change or withdrawal without notification until ticketed. Full payment is required before tickets can be issued. Adventure World cannot be held liable for any increases in prices or changes in any airline regulations. Foreign currency airfares and airport taxes may fluctuate and are subject to the rate of exchange on date of ticket issue. Increases in airport taxes are not the responsibility of Adventure World and can be imposed up to departure. To the extent we are able to do so we will advise you of any increases of which we are aware at the time of confirmation of your booking. 8. CONSUMER CLAIMS Should you encounter any problems on your holiday it is always better to try and solve it directly with the supplier. If it is not possible to do so and you wish to lodge a complaint please do so in writing within 30 days of completing your Adventure World arrangements. 9. NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR COST Visas, insurance, excess baggage charges (over applicable airline allowances), extra meals, laundry, drinks, souvenirs, and items of a personal nature are not included in the tour cost. Any pre-paid airfare taxes and surcharges are clearly identified in your booking confirmation if not included in the tour cost. 10. VARIATIONS Considerable care has been taken to compile the information in this brochure but circumstances not within Adventure World’s control may necessitate changes in itineraries, accommodation and costs in which case you will be informed as soon as possible. When it is necessary to change a hotel Adventure World reserves the right to substitute accommodation of at least a similar standard. Adventure World cannot be held responsible for any changes which may occur and reserves the right to increase the price of any travel arrangement up to the date of payment in full (or the date of ticketing in the case of airfares). This includes adjustment for fuel surcharges, airfare increases as well as international exchange rate fluctuations. To the extent we are able to do so, we will notify you of any applicable change in price prior to you making payment in full. Adventure World may update these terms and conditions at anytime. Any changes to these terms and conditions made after booking will be advised to you. The current version of terms and conditions will always be found on the website www.adventureworld.co.nz
