Neil Wilson Honoured by Wattles
Wattles stalwart Neil Wilson has become the club’s 61st Life Member.
In his junior league days Neil won selection for a tour of New Zealand with a Darling Downs representative team, and was recruited by Wattles senior club for its Under 16 team of 1975.
That first year in the big league reaped a premiership win, the dose repeated as an Under 18.
From there the talented fullback/ halfback evolved into a regular in Wattles senior grades.
It’s a challenge to measure the time the club devotee has worn the prized green and gold colours, but it can certainly be measured in decades.
Neil, and wife Judy, have made a big contribution to Wattles’ junior and senior clubs.
Both are Life Members of Wattles Junior Rugby League Club, Neil
Wattles Club President Amanda O’Halloran attaches the Warriors’ 61st Life Membership badge to the chest of an emotional Neil Wilson at the Club’s annual Banquet and Presentation Night held in Clifton last Saturday.
serving as club President in 2000 and 2001, and was a premiership winning coach.
Neil is also a Life Member of the Zone 5 Junior Rugby League after a coaching
involvement spread over more than a quarter of a century.
Neil and Judy’s sons Brian, Brenden and Jason have all worn Wattles colours with pride continuing an admirable family tradition.
Neil has been and remains a familiar face on Wattles sidelines over so many seasons, his knowledge and experience so respected by coaching staff and players alike.
His ability to connect with players, ‘clicking with everyone’, and willingness to help in any way highlights him as a valuable asset to teams and the club.
Another great asset for Wattles is Neil’s consistent upbeat approach at games and preparation, always positive and encouraging despite the situation.
Neil Wilson is a quintessential rugby league volunteer, representing the most perfect or typical example of quality.

Q.C.W.A.
In presenting the 25th annual report of the Allora branch, the president Mrs. E. F. Lilley said that in view of the shortage of food in Britain and of the vital necessity of obtaining and forwarding as much food as possible, the activities of the branch were directed particularly towards raising funds for this purpose. Accordingly two bridge parties were held and an amount
of £20 was forwarded to the Food for Britain Appeal. Contributions of dripping were sent to Messrs. Campbell Bros. to be made into soap for Britain and weighted 1 cwt and 7 lbs.

Missing Man Found
The Allora police were advised on Tuesday that Mr. P. Zeller, a Goomburra resident, was missing. A party left for Goomburra where they were joined by a constable from Yangan and a search party scoured the rough scrubby country. On Wednesday the man was found on a track within a few miles of where the search party was working. It appears that he had left his home on Sunday with his dray and horses to remove a hut further up the creek. On Monday he was on a shooting expedition in the mountains but lost his bearings and wandered about the range until Tuesday night when he reached a camp at the head of Blackfellow’s Creek on the other side of the range. He was cared for there, and in the morning was directed to the homeward track, where he was found.

McMILLAN v DANK – This case of illegally impounding horses occupied the court for a considerable time owing to the voluminous and conflicting evidence, after hearing which, the Bench appointed Messrs. David Littleproud On Regional Listening Tour
The Nationals leader and member for Maranoa David Littleproud has launched a national regional listening tour to listen and learn from regional voters, particularly those who left the party at this year’s election.
Mr Littleproud said the party had to be honest about the election result and he genuinely wanted to hear from regional locals, particularly female voters and those who felt disillusioned before the federal election.
“I am touring through Australia to hear from those who matter most – the voters with real issues, facing real challenges and needing real solutions,” Mr Littleproud said.
“I am keen to hear from as many people as possible about how we can help improve their lives and their communities.
“I am also determined to find practical solutions, not just for more affordable childcare centres but more importantly, the availability of childcare in our regional centres for our working mums and dads.
“We are the party that wants to help women and give them the support and services they need.
“I know that finding available childcare centres is a real challenge for regional families and I want to hear from those who need help the most.”
The Nationals deputy leader Perin Davey and Mallee MP Anne Webster will join the regional listening tour which started in Victoria, will travel through New South Wales and arrive in Queensland later this year.
“The Nationals want to ensure our future – our youth – has the opportunity to thrive.
“Those living in regional towns know what’s best for them – so we’re traveling directly to the locals, to listen, to learn, to appreciate their concerns and find solutions.”
