Oakey Police are currently investigating whether four break-ins and one attempted break and enter that occurred in the Oakey district at the weekend are connected with crime spree resulting in the theft of three vehicles and hundreds of dollars worth of machinery and other valuables.

The five incidents were reported in the township over four days from Friday to Monday with most of the vehicles being locked at the time of the crime. Oakey Police Senior Constable Scott Bronkhurst said the first of the incidents was reported at a Lorrimer Street unit complex on Friday morning. He said the offender broke into one unit and threatened the occupant with a hammer before taking his car and house keys. It’s believed the offender then attempted to break into the adjoining unit and vehicle. “The offender has later returned to the unit and used the keys to steal a Toyota Hilux,” Snr. Const. Bronkhurst said. “The vehicle was located at Shannon Court.” Some time between Thursday night and Friday morning a Campbell Street property was broken into and car keys stolen. Police are searching for a Mitsubishi Triton stolen from Kingsthorpe on Tuesday. machinery was stolen. A second Campbell Street property was also targeted by offenders between Sunday night and Monday morning with a blue Toyota Corolla stolen as well as several valuables. This vehicle was later found at Kingsthorpe. A third vehicle was reported stolen from Cunliffe Street on Sunday. The blue MG was also later located at Ipswich in the possession of a 30 yearsold Toowoomba woman.
Snr. Const. Bronkhurst said Oakey Police are still investigating the spate of break and enters and believe the incidents are connected. He urged residents to make sure their vehicles and homes were locked at all times and that their keys are kept in a secure location out of view. KINGSTHORPE HIT Kingsthorpe residents should also be on alert after three vehicles were stolen there at the weekend. A VW Amarok was
taken between Saturday night and Sunday morning. It was later located at Wellcamp in the possession of a 32-years-old Kingsthorpe man. A silver Nissan X-Trail with the registration plate 805LKE stolen on Sunday and a blue Mitsubishi Triton registration plate NMJ83 taken on Tuesday have not been found.
