Rural landholders in the Toowoomba Region are invited to participate in a survey to provide feedback on the Darling Downs Moreton Rabbit Board (DDMRB) and rabbit fence. Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee portfolio leader and DDMRB board member Cr Tim McMahon (right) said he encouraged all rural landholders to have their say by taking part in the survey. “Rabbit control is an important part of maintaining productive agricultural land,” Cr McMahon said. “This survey review aims to understand the perceived effectiveness of the Darling Downs Moreton Rabbit Board and determine how best to fund its activities which include monitoring, enforcement, education and maintenance of the rabbit fence. “At present, eight local governments fund all activities undertaken by the Board, with Toowoomba Regional Council contributing the largest share of the funding each year. What should happen with Nobby Recreation Ground?
Following the meeting held recently to decide the future of Nobby Recreation Ground, attendees decided to distribute a survey around town to gather opinions. Heavy rainfall and flooding occurred on the day the meeting was held. President of Nobby Cricket and Recreation Club Inc., Noel Pauli, who has been involved in organising the meetings along with Mick Comerford and a few others, said the survey is being conducted door-to-door. “We’re looking for support or indication about what people want,” Mr Pauli said. “It’s the first step towards what we need to do.” Mr Pauli said he personally would like to see the grounds stay in the community, however the community needs to help out to make this possible. “You need support on the financial side and with the mowing and general maintenance. It’s nine acres,” he said. Four questions comprise the survey, asking Nobby residents if they want the recreation ground to remain in community hands, if they are prepared to help, how they will help and how they would like to see the grounds used. In addition to the doorknocking, the survey will be available at a few places around town including Nobby Store and in the school newsletter. Mr Pauli said he planned to invite Dominic Doyle from Toowoomba Regional Council, who has been involved in the discussion thus far, to the meeting. Mr Doyle was among the many unable to make it to the last meeting due to the weather. Suggestions offered regarding how the grounds could be reimagined include building tennis courts, a basketball court and a skate park. Trisha Wallen, Louise Kennedy and Kath Warner have been involved with distributing the survey. The next meeting will discuss the results of the survey. It will be held at 7pm tomorrow (Thursday, 17 March) at Nobby School of Arts Hall. Whatever conclusions are reached are sure to have people talking. All interested persons are welcome to attend.

Cambooya State School BACK TO THE 80s You may have thought you were in a scene from Back to the Future on Thursday March 10th if you were visiting Cambooya State School.
Thursday, March 17, 2022
Students and staff were dressed up in very colourful clothing and it may have seemed like you had stepped back into the eighties. Staff and students joined in the fun and there were certainly some bright and glittery costumes. The themed day was organised by Year 6 students to raise money for projects they are working on this year to leave their mark on the school. The first project the Year 6 students are working on is raising money to provide a Buddy Bench for future use at the school. This bench will be available for student use during break times if they are feeling lonely or have a problem.
LEFT & ABOVE: Students embrace the 80s with colourful costumes.

Carers share
A few locals have taken advantage of a new support group for carers that started in Greenmount a few weeks ago. The In-Person Peer Support (IPPS) sessions are conducted by the Australian Government initiative Carer Gateway in conjunction with Wellways, a not-for-profit that offers mental health and diability support and services. A recent IPPS session in Greenmount was about ‘Connection’ and what it means for carers to be connected, not only to friends and family but also to other carers. The group meets every Friday from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Greenmount Return Soldiers Memorial Hall. Contact Tammy on 0431 794 052 for more information.
From left, Tim Vidler (Greenmount - Peer Facilitator), Nicholle McEwan (Toowoomba - Carer Gateway), Amanda Vaivao (East Greenmount), Johanna Baker (Greenmount) and Eleanor McGovern (Clifton).
