It’s Father’s Day after all; so if you’re stuck for ideas, why not just ask dad what it is that he wants to do for his special day? Some dads might want to do nothing at all besides sit around as a family and chill out; other dads might want to spend the day altogether renovating the house or tidying up the garden for spring. Many dads work really hard, so be sure to spoil them on their special day.

Father's Day
What it means to be a father The role of parenthood is changing radically, with fathers and father-figures encouraged to take the time this Father’s Day to talk to their children about what it means to be a father. The ‘Let’s Talk About What it Means to be a Father’ campaign will launch ahead of Father’s Day and is an evidenceinformed initiative addressing the positive influence fathers and male role-models can play in inspiring and shaping a more socially aware and equal generation. White Ribbon, an organisation that works to create a healthier and more positive view of masculinity, has established the campaign to celebrate the many fathers who are challenging traditional views of masculinity and resetting society’s perception of what it means to be a dad. White Ribbon chair, Tony Pearson said the role of a father has an important place in a child’s life. “Research shows strong positive bonds between fathers and their children has a positive impact on the relationships they will have as adults. “That’s why we’re asking all fathers, male role-models and father-figures to reflect on and understand the important role they play in raising the next generation with values of respect, gender equality and, ultimately, violence prevention. “The conversations we have with their children will shape the person they become tomorrow.” To learn more about White Ribbon’s Fatherhood campaign and to view inspiring videos between fathers and their children, visit www.whiteribbon.org.au/fatherhood

ALL SMILES… Local photographer, Fleur Ferguson in her award-winning photography studio. Photo: Katelyn Morse.
Local photographer wins national award After 20 years working at a school, local Fleur Ferguson decided to turn her passion of photography into more than just a hobby and created her own photography business and studio. Her photography studio is a beautifully old-styled country barn with lots of character, warmth and lovely natural light, surrounded by lush beautiful gardens. It’s an incredible workspace, where Fleur is able to create beautiful imagery for her clients, both inside and outside the studio space on her property in Toolamba. Last month, Fleur was awarded the Find A Photographer Award’s Studio Design Award for her gorgeous
photography studio. The Find A Photographer Awards honour and recognise the incredible contribution that professional photographers running photography businesses make to their local communities. Fleur said, “I entered not really thinking anything would come of it, so I was so shocked when they announced I was one of the winners! It’s nice to see all the hard work get recognised, and to see that people enjoy it as well!” Fleur Ferguson Photography specialises in newborn babies, babies, families, debutante and wedding photography.
