Shop locally to support a thriving community
THERE is nothing more important than shopping locally. Not only does it help to stimulate the local economy and support job growth, but it also helps to back local businesses, which are the lifeblood of any community and its continued success. According to the latest statistics offered on the economy.id profile of Greater Shepparton, the 6,326 local businesses help to employ 30,390 residents and generate a Gross Regional Product output of $3.48B. As a part of that our local industries have an output
of $6,792.4M with retail trade contributing $318.6M and manufacturing contributing the most with an output on $1,178.8M. The local sales output of the region, which is the output

With a strong local backing, businesses in the region can continue to thrive, which not only draws in outside trade and tourism but also ensures the future of Greater Shepparton.

thrill excitement Enjoy the
and
of taking to the kart track THRILL SEEKERS… Watch on as the best in go karting take to the track at this thrilling event not to be missed. Photo: Supplied.
By David Lee I HAVE fond memories when I was a little tacker of my dad taking my siblings and I go karting in Shepparton, and the thrill of tearing around the track was something I looked forward to on our monthly visits. You and your family can get the same thrill with the Goulburn Valley Kart Club. Being the oldest established go kart club in Australia, the club is more than just a regular go kart club, as they host the Australasian Kart Titles.
Running for 29 years, the titles are one of the oldest go karting events held across the country and will see up to 1,000 spectators watch as 200 competitors take to the track in an exciting battle to win the illustrious Red Plate and a share in nearly $14,000 in cash prizes. Club secretary, Ben Dealy said, “Our track was established in 1959 and we have had some big names race here during the titles including supercar drivers, Jamie Whincup, Greg Ritter, Nathan Pretty,
Steve Owen and Jason Bargwanna to name a few. “The event is free to watch and it’s very exciting. This is one of the highest levels of karting in Australia. “Go karting is a grassroots motorsport that is affordable and a great family sport. “Children as young as seven can race and there is no age limit after that…in fact, we have a 72 year old club member who races every month. “I encourage people to come along
to the titles or give us a call to talk about joining our club. You won’t regret it.” The Australasian Kart Titles will run on September 22 and 23 at the Goulburn Valley Kart Club, Katamatite-Nathalia Road, Numurkah. A canteen will be available. For further information on the event or on joining the Goulburn Valley Kart Club, visit karting.net.au, finding the Goulburn Valley Kart Club on Facebook or contact Ben on 0419 719 141.
