Advocate Eureka Hospital Advocate Eureka Hospital has been serving and caring for the people of central Illinois for more than 109 years. A 25-bed, not-for-profit facility located in Eureka Illinois, Advocate Eureka Hospital is part of faith-based Advocate Health Care, the largest fully integrated health care delivery system in Illinois. Our Services Emergency Services Emergencies are never scheduled. That’s why our emergency department offers 24-hour care by physicians trained in emergency medicine. In addition, our registered nurses have specialized training in trauma services and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Urgent Care Urgent Care services are also available and no appointment is necessary. Urgent Care can help with minor illnesses or injury, including: • Strains and sprains
• Minor aches and pains
• Minor cuts and burns
• Nausea and vomiting
• Coughs, colds and flu
• Minor allergic reactions
• Animal and bug bites

Inpatient Services At Advocate Eureka Hospital, we offer quality, professional treatment on our 25-bed acute care floor. Ongoing care is provided by registered, certified personnel for medicalsurgical, emergency, pediatric and orthopedic patients. Interim Care Some patients no longer need acute care, but are still not ready to function by themselves at home or to be transferred to a long-term care facility. Interim Care allows patients to remain in a supervised medical setting on a short term basis. Respite care, or short-term hospital care for people who are not able to care for themselves, allows caretakers to meet other responsibilities with peace of mind, knowing that their loved ones are still receiving one-on-one professional medical care. Surgical Services Advocate Eureka Hospital offers a variety of surgical procedures. We offer both inpatient and outpatient surgery (including pre-operative consultation and post-operative follow-up). Outpatient Services A variety of outpatient services often make inpatient hospitalization unnecessary. Our services include diagnostic testing procedures and surgeries, as well as physical and speech therapies that give patients the opportunity to save on hospitalization costs and eliminate the need to travel or be away from home or work.

Same Day Services We offer a variety of same day services, from surgical procedures to ongoing therapies, including: • Chemotherapy

• Blood transfusions Laboratory Under the direction of a certified pathologist, our clinical laboratory is staffed with certified medical technologists and technicians. A wide range of testing procedures are available to help with diagnosis and treatment and to assist in monitoring therapies. Radiology Diagnostic X-rays play an important role in detecting disease and helping to determine treatment. We have state-of-the-art technology so that we can offer you full-service radiology procedures without traveling far or waiting a long time. • Bone densitometry

Cardiopulmonary Our trained staff administer cardiopulmonary tests and assists in post-surgical recovery. We offer: • PFTs (breathing tests)
• Nebulizer treatments
• Holter monitors
• Respiratory therapy for a variety of inpatient and postsurgical needs
• EEGs • Echocardiograms • Electrocardiograms • Stress tests, including Cardiolite, Persantine and Lexiscan
• Consultation for preoperative respiratory exercises, conducted by trained staff
• Oxygen and high humidity therapies for respiratory problems

Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation The heart and lungs are two major organs that are essential to life. Our cardiac and pulmonary rehab professionals can develop an individualized plan to help you return to a healthy, active lifestyle. This might include: • a professionally supervised exercise regimen • educational sessions regarding heart and/or lung health • participation in a support group (Mended Hearts)

• a variety of diagnostic exams and treatments for the lungs and heart, including pulmonary function tests, bronchoscopies, echocardiograms, EKGs, treadmill tests, cardiac stress tests, Holter Monitor and scannings
Audiology Services Audiology is used to diagnose, evaluate and rehabilitate clients with hearing problems. Our audiologist is licensed by the State of Illinois and certified by the American SpeechLanguage-Hearing Association. We provide: • basic hearing evaluations
• infant hearing assessments
• amplification devices
Therapy Services Physical Therapy Advocate Eureka Hospital offers on-site therapists who work one-on-one with you to help restore function, relieve pain and minimize disability in the inpatient, outpatient and home health setting. Our services include: • Therapeutic exercise and manual therapy techniques • Work conditioning program, which includes work site evaluations, essential job functions testing, pre-employment screening and ergonomic assessments
• Balance and vextibular rehabilitation • Light, heat, water, sound and electronic waveforms • School outreach program (for developmentally delayed children at their schools)

Speech Therapy Speech therapy may be needed for some inpatients and outpatients to evaluate and correct communication disorders as a result of stroke, illness or injury. Our speech therapists work with sensitivity and patience to help restore communication skills. Occupational Therapy Through a variety of exercises, treatment and education, our occupational therapists work with you to restore your ability to perform daily activities independently and regain those skills that are important to you. Occupational therapy may be prescribed for many conditions, including: • Orthopedic surgery • Disease (Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, ALS, arthritis) • Stroke

• Injuries (head, spinal cord, wrist and hand) • Amputation • Fractures • Developmental delays or disabilities
Diabetes Services The Diabetes Services program at Advocate Eureka Hospital has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality in Self-Management Education. This is a model in which participants work closely with a team of diabetes educators, including a registered nurse and a registered dietician. These educators assess each participant’s specific educational needs, and then assist with identifying specific diabetes self-management goals, along with the education and behavior intervention tactics to achieve them. Participation in the program requires referral by a physician. Costs of the program are typically covered by Medicare and most insurance companies. Diabetes Services also offers continuous glucose monitoring to optimize diabetes therapy, lower hemoglobin A1C levels, and reduce risk of long-term complications. Specialty Clinics Patients have the opportunity to consult with a specialist without having to travel out of the area or waiting a long time for an appointment. Our clinics allow patients to receive quick, convenient, specialized care and diagnostic treatment from physicians in a variety of fields. Outreach Services Schools Advocate Eureka Hospital provides school-based physical and occupational therapy to children with special needs in 40 schools throughout 12 different school districts. We work closely with Eureka College and Woodford County schools to provide health care education and information to the children in our neighborhoods. A registered nurse, under a physician’s supervision, offers first aid, health assessments and services for both students and teachers.
