Dallas Wine Trail

Turtle Creek Home Tour

Walk through five luxurious high-rise homes from 1-5 p.m. A post tour “after party” will take place from 6-8 p.m. Proceeds go to the nonprofit Turtle Creek Association that works to enhance beauty and quality of life in the 87 acres of greenways and parkland in the Turtle Creek Corridor. ‘Sightings: Nathan Mabry’

Artist Nathan Mabry installs his works in Nasher Sculpture Center’s garden for its annual “Sightings” series of installations and interventions. Mabry is creating a special sculpture based on an ancient terracotta Jalisco figure, and will install six other figures inspired by Rodin’s Burghers of Calais.

A talented trio

Three talented folk singer/songwriters are teaming up for their mini tour of Texas, and they’re stopping by Uncle Calvin’s. Singer/songwriter Sarah Sample, Edie Carey and Andy Gullahorn are all award-winning artists who will perform together for the first time after crossing paths at several festivals.

Delicious Sandwiches

Walk inside Short Stop Food To Go on Royal and you’ll find a couple plain tables and chairs for inside dining, but what’s most important are the fridges lined with delicious casseroles, dips, cold soups and more. Manger Jennifer Moreno’s parents bought the original Snider Plaza location eight years ago, which they still own, and expanded their fresh sandwich, wrap and casserole spot to its Royal Lane location three years ago. Jennifer has helped her family run the place since high school, and after deciding an office job wasn’t for her, she “settled” on serving up some delicious low fat sandwiches and scrumptious casseroles like the chicken spaghetti, potato ham, king ranch chicken and more. Moreno says most people order the chicken salad and tuna salad sandwiches, which are served atop your choice of bread, and come with chips or carrots and a miniature muffin. A lot of Jennifer’s patrons drop by for dips, spreads and party trays for sporting events, which isn’t a bad idea as Major League baseball has begun.
