Future rock star
Mark Citzman , a sixth grade St. Alcuin student, was one of the youngest competitors at the 12th Annual Texas Guitar Competition and Festival, hosted by the School of Arts and Humanities at UT Dallas early March. Citzman took third place for the third consecutive year.

Early March Dallas ISD held the first “Idol” contest and W.T. White cleared the house. Femke Hendricks won first place by singing “On My Own” from Les Miserables; Jacorey Upshaw placed second by singing “Try A Little Tenderness,” made popular by Otis Redding; and Dru Miers placed third for his version of “If I Were A Man” by Bruno Mars. Eleni Munoz also sang Adele’s “Melt My Heart To Stone” beautifully.

The Bookies, a women’s book club that formed when their children were students at Preston Hollow Elementary, got out their Seuss hats to read to students for Dr. Seuss’ birthday during the Read Across Dallas event early March.
