The crime Took some T ime.

Like many area homes, Randall Isenberg’s Preston Hollow East house was hit by some hailstorms a couple of months ago. Roofing companies could be found throughout the Metroplex re-shingling roofs.

“We thought we’d wait until the rush was over,” Isenberg says.

In February, a roofing company unloaded eight skids of shingles and some other equipment in front of his house. Everything was set for the company’s men to return the next day and finish the job. Isenberg asked the man unloading everything if he was sure he wanted to leave it in front of his house.

Some foul weather the next couple of days pushed the job back a bit, and Isenberg came out one morning to find everything gone. He says it would have taken someone with a truck and trailer at least to steal all the supplies — not to mention some considerable time to load everything up.

Dallas Police Major Bill Humphrey of the North Central Patrol Division says that thieves are always looking for something of value and that items of this much value should never be left outdoors where they might attract a thief. The recent hailstorms caused a massive increase in roofing repairs throughout the city, resulting in a greater number of construction workers, supplies, and equipment in the area within the last six weeks. Leaving the supplies outdoors provides too much of an opportunity for thieves.
