hether you visit parks across the city, frequent a few in the area, attend only your local park or don’t venture to public spaces at all – maybe it’s time to discover parks in your neighbourhood that you may be overlooking. These are the ‘hidden gems’ of our area. The places you may not have thought of that are the perfect backdrop for your next family outing, fitness route, picnic or walk with your pet: NORTH SHORE PARK is a wonderful local neighbourhood park with many facilities including barbecues, drinking fountains, picnic tables, shelters and a playground. More importantly, if you have a little one learning to ride a bike, you can utilise the children’s cycling track complete with road rule signage to show them the ropes in a protected environment. Enjoy everything North Shore Park has to offer at North Shore Avenue, Varsity Lakes. JACK WILSON PARK with its large open space for lawn games, a fully fenced playground and shelter from the summer heat. This space is perfect for a family gathering or a stroll to escape for some hardearned peace and quiet. Find Jack Wilson Park at 108 Cheltenham Drive, Robina. ROBINA COMMON often coined ‘just a sports field’ but that could not be any further from the truth. This park hosts a dog off leash exercise area, barbecues, a fully fenced playground, drinking fountains, boat ramp and fitness station. The Common is also home to our successful Robina Braves Baseball and Robina City Soccer Clubs. Find Robina Common at 45 Ron Penhaligon Way, Robina. VARSITY COLLEGE SCHOOL OVAL is another park you may not know that is Council-owned. This slice of green space with basketball courts, playing fields and a playground is open for community enjoyment after school hours. Check the Varsity College School Oval out on Christine Avenue.

LAKE LOMANDRA is a scenic park full of wildlife that is best enjoyed at sunset or for an early morning stroll around the lake. Its wide walkways are ideal for cycling, running or walking too. The kids will be happy with a nice playground conveniently situated next to shelters perfect for a family gathering or a picnic in the park. Find Lake Lomandra on Olympus Drive, Robina. JIM HARRIS PARK is another great gem of Varsity Lakes. This park is simple but has everything you might need for a weekend game of footy, a stroll with your dog or perhaps even a space to settle under a tree with a good book. This park also boasts a nearby skatepark and a neighbouring community centre with free and low-cost activities for all ages. Pop on down to check out everything this precinct has to offer at 28 Cassia Drive, Varsity Lakes. GLENSIDE DRIVE PARK, perhaps the most hidden of all, is home to the new Robina Community Garden. Tucked behind the residential homes is a wide open space with walking paths, great for a morning stroll. Settle in under the picnic setting near the lake, observe the wildlife and perhaps have a chat to a gardener tending to their plot at the community garden. Find Glenside Drive Park at the end of Botanique Terrace, Robina. ROBINA LIONS CLUB PARK a lovely park with plenty of shade, walking paths, bird life and bench seating to enjoy the view. The park also boasts a shaded playground for the kids to enjoy on those warm summer afternoons. Enjoy a stroll through the shaded archways and find Robina Lions Club Park at 14a Peach Drive, Robina.
