Nick’s Valentine’s Day Brownies BY JO MCCLURE

2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 1 tsp soda 1/4 cup cocoa 2 eggs 1 cup margarine or butter, softened 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 tsp vanilla In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar and soda. In a saucepan , combine the butter, coffee and cocoa and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add the boiled ingredients to the dry mixture and mix well. Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla and mix with electric mixture. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan (17x11) and bake at 400˚ for 18-20 minutes. Cool before frosting.

FROSTING: 1/2 cup butter, softened 2 Tablespoons cocoa 1/4 cup milk 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 1/2 tsp vanilla Heat and boil the butter, cocoa and milk. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla and beat well. Pour over the cooled brownies.
