MPNFL Updates MPNFL Update Round 7 2017 It is now round 7 and we are quickly approaching the half way mark. This week marks Indigenous Round in the AFL as well as community football leagues including the MPNFL. The round named aims to celebrate and commemorate indigenous players and culture, both of which play a huge role in our great game. There is now only one more week until the Quit Challenge Round showcasing and promoting healthy sporting clubs in the MPNFL and our community. Every club will be playing a role on the day with Frankston Bombers and Devon Meadows hosting the Quit Challenge Marquee game, St Kilda Football Club will be attendance running a handball competition for kids as well as Peninsula Health who will be providing information in relation to world no tobacco day. Best of luck to all sides for this weekend.

AFL South East Trainers Network The AFL South East Trainers Network is a group of trainers across the AFL South East region being able to communicate with other club trainers and industry professionals for advice, help or just to know what the latest method may be, this is a great concept for all club trainers to be involved with. If you haven’t yet joined our Facebook groups please search AFL South East Trainers Network, and join either the Peninsula or South-East network based on your location. AFL South East “Club Support – Community Program” The AFL South East and MRC (Melbourne Racing Club) Foundation have joined forces to develop the “Club Support – Community Program”, which is designed to provide AFLSE and MPFNL (Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League) Clubs with the training, development and support in areas of concern within the community regularly faced by the Clubs such as youth suicide, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health and other social and behavioural issues. Partnering with key stakeholders, SALT (Sport and Life Training) and SCA (Sports Chaplaincy Australia) program providers the specific aim of the “Club Support – Community Program” is to develop a leadership and welfare culture within AFLSE and MPFNL Clubs to help drive behavioural change and provide support in a sustainable and ongoing manner.

AFL Vic Country 2017 Energy Safe Round WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country and Energy Safe Victoria are joining forces to spread a warning to country Victorians about the dangers of working around powerlines in the annual Energy Safe Round on Saturday May 27. Supporting country football in Victoria for the last six years, Energy Safe Victoria has created the Look up and Live campaign to remind country Victorians to be safe around powerlines. This season, AFL Goulburn Murray will host the annual Energy Safe Victoria event at Mansfield Recreation Reserve for the Round 6 Goulburn Valley Football Netball League clash between Mansfield and Benalla. While the dedicated game will be held in northern Victoria this year, Energy Safe’s message is extremely poignant to all country football communities. Energy Safe Victoria together with AFL Victoria ask all in country football to pay attention to this vital message – “Look up & Live” - and to observe the three metre safety zone around powerlines.

“It could be the most important look of your life, and may mean you can enjoy another season of country footy with your family.” ESV Safety tips: To ensure the safety of workers and property owners Energy Safe Victoria advises people to take extra care to watch for powerlines if your work involves: •

Using tall machinery, such as cranes or augers

Football Preview PYTHONS ENJOYING VIEW FROM TOP by Simon McEvoy PINES has taken over top spot on the ladder - and now the Pythons’ challenge is to stay there. Their clash today against CHELSEA takes on match of the round billing: two of the comp’s in-form sides going head-to-head. While the Pythons have dispatched rivals with ease, the Seagulls have had to work harder for their wins, digging deep and showing plenty of spirit. Todd Gardiner, Aaron Pawel and Jack Francis have been in cracking form for Chelsea, which has the talent to push for a top-five berth. But are the Gulls going well enough to beat Pines, at Pines? This is their biggest test yet. Chelsea will have to find a way to nullify Pines star Aaron Edwards, who fired off 9.1 last week to zoom to the top of the goal-kicking table, while unheralded Pythons Lachlan Marshall, Nick Boswell and Ben Thomas continue to perform week in, week out. KARINGAL has endured five straight defeats, testing everyone’s resolve, and now the Bulls must butter up and face the talented but under-performing MT ELIZA. The Redlegs are yet to string two wins together this season and, at 3-3, have a point to prove. Mt Eliza will enjoy being back at Frankston Park, where it has enjoyed finals success and generally plays well. Pleasingly for the Redlegs, Ben Landry, Aaron Dunne and Sam Gill have been fine form. And all eyes will be on Mt Eliza ruckman Grant Goodall against his former side today. He’s sure to be keen for a big one. FRANKSTON YCW will be eager to consign last week’s loss to a blip on the radar bin when it hosts cellar dwellers LANGWARRIN. The Stonecats were held to their lowest score of the season as Bonbeach skipped away to a 26-point win. It was Wayne Capp’s first defeat as a senior coach and he will be looking for a fierce response from his men today, and if it comes Langy could be in for a tough day. Stonecats co-skipper Kevin Lylak will look to inspire his side, and Ryan Santon and Luke Paynter have been playing consistent footy. Langwarrin kicked its highest score of the season last week, with Nick Hammill, Shelton Rosario, Lachlan Davies and Joel Bateman showing good signs. BONBEACH was super last week, knocking over triple reigning premiers YCW to move to 4-2, a vast improvement on this time last season when it was 2-4. Today, Bonny host eighth-placed MORNINGTON at Shark Park in a game they are expected to win. Mobile ruckman Dylan Jones, in career best form, has been a shining light for Bonbeach this season and others

are following suit. Jackson Casey and Gary Carpenter have shown great leadership, while Jack Williams, Matt Douglas and Jason Ferraro continue to play key roles. Mornington improved sharply last week, pushing Seaford in a more accurate guide to what the Bulldogs are capable of. But with only one win it’s been a poor start to the season for Chris Holcombe’s team, although there’s still time to turn things around. Recruit Pete McGettigan has been good, booting 13 goals, and Michael Macgowan has given the Dogs a boost since coming into the side. Two of the competition’s most exciting sides meet at Regents Park when EDI-ASP host SEAFORD. Graeme Yeats has Edi-Asp (3-3) going nicely, their win over Mt Eliza last week contained some of their best footy of the season. Exciting youngster Nick Carlon is progressing well, while Liam Harris, Angus Macquire and Brendan Neville were terrific last week. Seaford is on a five-game winning streak and the Tigers haven’t looked like being beaten of late. They’ve kicked big scores and won by decisive margins...begging the question: could this be the year of the Tiger? Dean Williamson is having a cracking season, while former Dolphin Brayden Irving looks ready to put his stamp on this comp. Doyle, Shaw, Walton and McCormack continue to perform each week.

Football Preview STONECATS HIT STRAPS IN THE RESERVES… FRANKSTON YCW has hit its straps and can consolidate a top-four spot by seeing off LANGWARRIN. The Stonecats’ surge is being driven by James Bryant, Mitch Rowe, Trent Cowled and Michael Chaplin with eight goas in his past two games. PINES has zoomed up the ladder into third spot and the Pythons are eyeing a fourth straight win today against CHELSEA. Jake Berry, Lee Hearnden, Jayden Goldsmith and David McLaren have been in cracking form for Pines. A red-hot SEAFORD will take some stopping against EDIASP, especially with Brendan Dawes, Julian Walton and Liam Davenport in mint form. BONBEACH and MORNINGTON are both chasing their third win when they do battle, while KARINGAL faces a monumental task to serve it up to unbeaten ladder leaders MT ELIZA. TIGERS ON THE CLIMB IN THE UNDER 19s… On a three-game winning streak, SEAFORD has surged into fourth spot and take plenty of confidence into its clash with EDI-ASP. Jai McGuiness has been igniting the Tigers, with support from Bobby’s boy Bradley Magee, Ayden Woodward and Riley Maggio. Some of the best young talent on the peninsula will strut their stuff in the top-of-the-table clash between FRANKSTON YCW and LANGWARRIN. The leading two goal kickers in the comp, YC’s Lachlan Street (25) and Langy’s Matt Peynenborg (21) will play key roles today, as will prime movers Callan Gregory, Josh Berenger and Jarrod Sullivan for the Stonecats, and Ayden Collins, Liam McDonald and Bailey Smith for the Kangas. PINES will chase its first win of the season when it hosts CHELSEA (1-5). KARINGAL will go into its clash with MT ELIZA on a high after two big wins, and Zach Bartling and Chris McInnes is cracking form. BONBEACH will be out to snap a five-game losing streak when it hosts MORNINGTON.

A successful road trip for the senior boys claiming our biggest scalp under coach Steve Hughes. Keeping Frankston scoreless in the 3rd quarter the boys piled on 5.8 to finish 28 point winners in a memorable victory. In a physical contest our pressure was too much for the undefeated premiers. DJ backed his strong interleague performance last week with one of his best in club colours. He was well supported with Casey, Carpenter, Williams & Douglas all playing great games. The win held extra significance with the post game retirement of star forward Luke ‘Damage’ Damon. A local football legend Luke has decided to give it away to spend more time with family. A great clubman everyone at Bonbeach wishes Damage well. A well timed retirement as we welcome all past players back to Shark park this week for ‘Past players Day’. Another great day for footy greeted us for our clash with Seaford at home. Over the past couple of years there has been nothing in it between the two clubs. With the Pups our endeavor was brilliant from start and in a match where we knew that contested ball was key, that was important. All of our measurable were at least matching our opponents however some simple skill errors under fatigue late in the game cost us the win. All in all a great game of footy that we all took something away from. In the Ressies in the first quarter the boys were up and about and playing real pressure footy and by half time there was only a goal in it. In the second half Seaford kicked away with a 4 goal lead going into the last quarter,but to the boys credit they kept on fighting to the end. With a serious injury to our captain we as a team must stand up and carry the load that has been left with Sammy being out for the rest of the year but we know we have the players to do so. We wish Sammy Wright a speedy recovery & are thankful he will be ok. The Seniors paid their mark of respect then started slow with Seaford kicking away with a 7 goal to 1 in the 1st 1/4, which we could never peg back for the rest of the game going down by 27 points. It’s tough this game this footy and the boys will again need to regroup against a side that is coming off a great win against Frankston YCW last week. Macquire, M. Meehan, B. Neville, C. Martello. The reserves and the under 19’s battled hard but were outclassed by better teams on the day. Both teams are looking to bounce back this week against Seaford. The women’s team both played on the sunday but couldn’t get past 2 strong teams. The girls are improving each week and will bounce back this week. Club Notes Another strong performance from our Men’s football department saw us notch up 3 wins (5 from 7 including Netball) but what made it all the sweeter was the return of Mark Di Blasio. Mark’s perseverance over the last 658 days has been a credit to him. Many hurdles have come along the way but his willingness succeed was well and truly rewarded after getting to sing the song after the match with his teammates. Well done to our Netball department notching two nail biting victories against a quality outfit in A & B while unfortunately missing out in C & D. Following today’s match we ask all Players/Supporters to join us at our Major Sponsors, Seaford RSL members bar for match reports (approx 5:30pm). Bar & Bistro will be open so everyone is welcome to stick around following it before a fun night to be had the club for our Annual Beer Pong Championship! Big day today as we welcome Langwarrin to the Coburn Oval. In the rooms our Netballers and supporters are having a hoot at their Annual Ladies fundraiser day. Have a great day. Last week we hosted the Bonbeach football and Netball sides. The Unders started us off on the right foot. After a slow start they ran away for a big but inaccurate win. Big Daniel Hughes monstered the game and was best. Lachie Street and Jarrod Sullivan booted four goals each and provided other opportunities whilst Dyl Preston and Lachie Dalziel went well. The Twos started brightly and won their second on the trot. James Bryant and Mitch Rowe stood out, Captain Cowled rallied the backs whilst Chappy kicked 5 ham rolls. In the Ones Bonbeach started like trains. We fought back to have our snouts in front at the large interval. In the third stanza the Sharks doubled their score whilst we didn’t trouble the calico wavers. Whilst we fought back in the last quarter, Bonbeach proved too strong and the margin probably flattered us. Big Kev and Bysa defended valiantly, Ryan Santon was busy and Eamer was strong. The Netballers had a clean sweep – see elsewhere in the record The Day at the Dogs is on Sunday June 4. Last week we took on Chelsea on a perfect day for footy. Lloyd Park was as always decked out to be welcoming to both our own and Chelsea’s supporters. Our U/19’s continued their great run of form , and it is always good to watch the way they back each other , play on often and move the ball so quickly. After a disappointing loss to Mt Eliza the week before where we really struggled it was good then to see our Reserves have a good win too. A good team effort and some slick coaching moves from Braddles , and consistent effort over all 4 quarters saw us take out a well deserved win. Thanks also to the contribution from The President and committee that awaited the team as they returned to the rooms. Our seniors lead out by 151 game club legend “ Boof’ struggled at times but as always showed a great commitment to continually win the ball, and contest. Highlights included Kizza’s long bomb goal , Tuddy’s, JB’s , Siz and Hammil’s afforts all day . A win won’t be far away if we can just get the ball up forward and convert more often. The O’Brien’s Cup inn this instance went to Chelsea. We thank O’Brien’s for their continued support and hope that we can have the Cup back at Langy real soon. Last week the Bullettes had a clean sweep with 4 wins, read their notes elsewhere in the record. The Women footballers had a massive win at home by 200+ points, tomorrow they take on Bunyip away at 2.30 looking for their 3rd win on the trot The Unders had a good win against Pines which lifted them into the 5, the Reseeves were good in patches and are closer to their first win with a few more numbers coming in. The senior game was close until a 5 minute lapse prior to half time let Pines open up a lead which we never really pulled back. Thanks to those that made last Saturday’s function such a success. Well done to Meg’s and her team for a great afternoon. Thanks also to the Edi people for sticking around in great numbers. To the footy and the Under 19’s, in an even first half saw us go in just ahead, and a two goal to 1 third term saw us go into the last up by 9 points. We kicked the first couple of the last to extend our lead, before they kicked the next two to reduce the margin to 8 points. The final two goals of the game saw a 22 point win in a much improved effort. Hill, Cameron, Jacko & Jimmy Logan kicked 2 apiece and better players were Ricey, Jacko, Oscar, Max Rea, Cambo & Sam Hallpike. The Reserves started brightly in a great defensive first half, kicking 7.4 and keeping Edi to just the 1 goal. They won the last half by 2 points, but a solid 38 point win resulted. Strick was great up forward with 5 and other better players were Ristrom, Kenty (2), Sam Howell, McKinnon & M Cleary. The Senior game saw Edi jump out of the blocks early with 5.5 to 3.0 in the opening term, before we booted 3.5 to 1.4 in the 2nd to trail narrowly at 1/2 time. We kicked 2.4 to 1.8 in the 3rd to get the margin back to 2 points at 3/4 time. They kicked the opening goal of the last inside the first minute, before tragedy struck Brodie Shaw who went down as the goal was kicked with a serious leg injury. Unable to be moved, an ambulance was called and half an hour later the match was abandoned with Edi taking the points. Best players were Brodie, Langers, Skinny, Gilly, Goodall & JV. Thanks to the Edi people, including one who ran the length of the ground to offer assistance. Latest news is Brodie’s operation was a success and he returned home Tuesday. Made the trip to Langy last week and had another productive day for the Club. The 19’s came up against a well drilled side and put up a very solid effort, really positive signs and a few more numbers now so keep up the good work lad’s. Best players were Heutau, Edmunds, Haslem, Steegsta and Davies. In the 2’s we battled hard all day but with a few still missing we fell short. Really encouraged by Lachlan Dunnes first game back for the Club, Chuck and Drilla continue to put their hands up every week and no doubt not far off the promotion stakes. Both Bourke and Rossie A were really good down back as well. In the main event after a solid start we got the yips in the 2nd term to go in trailing at the main break. Our second half was 1st Class and everyone rallied extremely well considering we had to play with 20 after the break. Little man, big motor, Todd just took the game on and led from the front, Jack great again up forward and got great support from Daley, Assa, Lex, Knowles and Lewis. Our more experienced recruits are performing every week and giving our younger players so much confidence. We are in a good space at the moment so let’s keep the pedal to the metal this week against Pines. Also great to see our Netballers in action last week as well. Huge thanks to Stav and the crew at O’Briens for initiating the Cup game v’s Langy as both Clubs rebuild and move forward. See you at the Gullery !!

The Trail Of The Thin White Line… Ever wonder what it takes to be a boundary umpire? That’s the tick tocking clunk that goes on up in the brain every time a whippet flies past straddling that curved white line. Well you’ve already been ruled out. Remember back in primary where you used to walk the lines of a basketball like a tightrope? And there you have it… boundary umpiring. Just follow the trail of the thin white line…back and forth…back and forth. Screams…cries…boundary umpires everywhere who think they’re so much smarter than that. But honestly, what part of the brain says that running 18 long kms in belting sun, pouring rain or tornado like winds is smarter than sitting on a goal line under an umbrella with a pyramid of hotdogs? Just think about that… But you’d guess they must have some kind of importance…shouldn’t they? Well even though they were the last discipline introduced into league games back in 1904 they were given the power to report in 1909. A full 12 months prior to the goal umpires…and the boundaries go whack. Pity the goal umpires have four poled flags that make nice contact… But hey…they have value too. They’re like a winger. By far the flashiest looking player on the ground when they get the ball on the outside and glide done the boundary. And…guess flashy counts for something. So we may give them a bit. Say that they can’t throw. Say that they’re useless. But when it all comes down to it they’re probably the most valuable member of our group. Cause who else wants to continuously stride out up and down the boundary all day? Netball Preview Bonbeach V Mornington Last week the Sharks unfortunately suffered a loss at the hands of Frankston YCW while Mornington went down in a one goal thriller against Seaford. They should bounce back this week at Shark Park, despite it being an away game.

Karingal V Mt Eliza Match of the round this week with the undefeated Bulls taking on the Redlegs at the Bullpit. Mt Eliza suffered a narrow loss last week against last 2016 premiers Edi Asp while the Bulls recorded a comfortable win against Pines. Being a home game should be the edge the Bulls needs this week to record their 7th win in a row.

Edi Asp V Seaford Edi Asp had a close game with Mt Eliza last week and came away with a 9 goal victory. This week they face another tough task taking on Seaford at Dingley. Seaford Frankston YCW V Langwarrin The Stonekittens had a nice win over Bonbeach last weekend at Shark Park while Langwarrin had a break. Going into this week at Jubilee Park â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the Roos should take the win over YCW and retain their 5th place on the ladder. Pines V Chelsea After a tough game last week against Karingal â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the Pythons will enjoy a well deserved rest this week while their B, C & D grade will enjoy their first game on their new home court.

Chelsea Seagulls

It was a tough day out for Chelsea D grade today. After a competitive first quarter the girls faded away with Langwarrin too strong. This game has definitely given us a lot to work on at training and made us want to work harder on court. Congrats to Kate for a great 4 quarter effort with some amazing intercepts. Heads up girls - we will be back stronger next week!! Chelsea C Grade welcomed back veteran Sallie for Saturday’s game against Langy. Sallie was a highlight switching from defence into goals showing her versatility and skill down the court. Hannah starred in centre for a whole 4 quarters and slipped nicely into a tight knit group. The game flowed nicely and all of the girls kept their composure. The win was a whole team effort! The team should be proud of themselves and carry their form through to our next game against Pines. Chelsea B grade welcome Gaby and Eilish into their side. Gaby opened up the goal ring, created space and shot beautifully. Gaby’s presence was felt down the whole court providing confidence to all players. Zoe stepped up and took on a role in defence, she played so well and hard all game. Gazzo earnt best on today for pushing the goalers to their limits and fighting for all 4 quarters. We look forward to meeting with Langy again later in the year.

Frankston YCW StoneKittens

Last week we came up against Bonbeach and with a short list of players had several girls step up and play 6 quarters of netball which was a great effort - thank you girls! In A grade we had a tough game with only having one true defender. Evie stepped up and played out of position filling therole extremely well. We had some great patches of play and just need to continue to work on our turnover conversions early in the game. BOC goes to Tamara Bucca who got her hands to everything in GD. B grade had a very convincing win but full credit must go to the Bonbeach girls who kept going for the 4 quarters. Despite the margin they didn’t back down and kept pushing us until the final siren. Once again a team effort across the court with BOC going to Amelia Oakenfull for a super game in GK, the pressure she applied forced errors resulting in turnovers. The C girls came out with a 20 - 1 first quarter, with only one goal being missed. Bonbeach fired up in the second quarter in what was an unorthodox game with a lot of scruffy play. We still need to work hard on clearing for the lead. BOC goes to Kirsty for her continued relentless defence work and support of team mates. D grade had a great win 41 - 7 with some great defensive pressure. It took us the first half to play our own game and use the space more efficiently and when the team made smarter choices the game flowed a lot smoother. BOC goes to Paige Rizzo due to an outstanding amount of taps and intercepts in the first half.

Netball Notes Langwarrin Kangaroos

Last week we welcomed the Seagulls to Lloyd Park with one thing in sight, adding the O’Brien Cup to our trophy cabinet. It was decided that the cup would be rewarded to the club with the highest combined scoring total across all three grades. D Grade started the day off nicely, coming away with a 41 goal win over Chelsea. It’s no surprise that the D girls continue to show improvement each week, with training a high priority, these girls are looking to increase their winning streak and are on the right path with a team bond as strong, and as supportive as theirs. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a day to remember for C Grade, as we let a game we controlled slip away. Although some great passages of play and fantastic defensive pressure throughout the court, Chelsea ended up being too strong in what was a tough final quarter. B Grade put on a fantastic game for all Roo supporters. Their ability to encourage one another on and off the court, is what saw them push hard, both defensively and in attack to come back from being six goals down at the start of the fourth quarter. In what was an exciting, yet nail bitting last five minutes, the girls kept calm and played their game. Although not a win to add to their season, they were happy to take the draw and the 2 points that went with it. With a win, draw and a loss to end our Saturday, the Roos looked forward to being announced the recipients of the 2017 O’Brien Cup with a total of 131 goals scored throughout the day to Chelsea’s 97.

Mornington Bulldogs

Another beautiful day to play netball and the standard played was fantastic. Both Mornington & Seaford are evenly matched and it always makes for great competitive netball. The D Grade started the day well with a strong win and continue to play good netball while C Grade also had a good strong fought win and continue to climb the leader board. B grade welcomed back from injury Katey & Mon. Katey made an impact straight away with accurate goaling whilst Chris was making an impact through the midcourt. Holly was impressive in goals coming off the bench in the second term to allow her side a four goal lead going into the main break. The side let Seaford back into the game during the third term and despite a best on court effort from Sophie Baker in defence the side couldn’t turn the tide, going down by 3 goals. A GRADE girls looked impressive from the outset with Brittany scoring prolifically of the back of some great defensive pressure from Georgia. Challenged for height again in GK, Jess fought relentlessly and did well to restrict the impact of her gaoler. Tess C was an important inclusion coming on in the second term, combining strongly with Sarah who had an impressive game in goals. But it was Candace that stepped things up a notch for her side, relentless in defence and driving the the ball consistently into attack. The scores were level going into the last term and despite their valiant efforts they lost by the narrowest of margins. Go Doggies! WOOF WOOF

Pines Pythonettes

Heading down to McClelland College to take on the Karingal girls we knew all 4 games would be tough. Each team gave it there all and although there was no wins we are proud of the efforts from everyone. We are also proud to be able to put 4 teams on the court each week and are giving some teams a good run for their points each week. This week we take on Chelsea and are excited to be playing on our brand new court at Eric Bell Reserve. What a great feeling around the club to finally become a true Football Netball Club. Karingal Bullettes

Last week we were at home and finished up four from four against Pines. C & D grade both started off sluggish however extended the leads as the games wore on. Good to get wins on the board when you are not playing your bext netball! D grade stand outs were Briohny in goals and Gerry in the defensive end. In C grade - Elise Mac was the silent assassin just like her big sis! B grade had an explosive start and finished off with a 50 goal win, a great percentage booster example of the whole team gelling. A big welcome back to Sarah Allen after injury. A depleted A grade side also had a healthy win especially considering the outs and the girls backing up games from B grade. Mel Cotta can play any position on the court and can do no wrong! Next time we meet the Pythons, we look forward to playing on their new home court! This week we are at home again and face four tough games against Mt Eliza. #GO BULLS

Mt Eliza Red Legs

Round 6 was our toughest challenge yet, taking on EdiAsp is never an easy task. D GRADE were slow to start scoring 8 goals in the first quarter. Although our game improved as each quarter passed we just could not get close enough to close the gap, goingt down 26-44. Taya did a fantastic job in centre while Olivia was strong in defence & the mid court. The C GRADE game was a battle from the very start with majority of the match being goal for goal. Edi-asp lead at every break by just a few & ended up just getting the 4 points (38-42). This was one of C grades best games, they really challenged the Eagles & were strong all over the court. Marcie was on fire in goals while Lauren put everything on the line to chase every loose ball that came her way. B GRADE was also a tight match with the lead changing multiple times throughout. The attacking end was seamless with great passages of play & fantastic shooting accuracy by Abbey & Bec. Unfortunately as the team got tired & intensity dropped we were unable to finish with the win (47-53), however it was a fantastic game by every player on court. A GRADE had a fantastic first quarter leading by 3 at the break, the Eagles responded and came out firing in the second quarter. Ellie played a ripper game in centre & was supported well in the transition from defence by Bayley. Bridget also played well in goals. Unfortunately A grade didn’t take the win, but showed real character in the way they went about it (46-54). Next we play Karingal!

Seaford Tigers

The tiges took on the doggies down at their home kennel and what a cracker of a day it was. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and everybody’s spirits were high. Our D girls knew they had a tough challenge a head of them but came out firing. Captain Tan was a instrumental in pumping up the girls however it wasn’t enough to overcome the strength of the doggies. C grade were up next and what a competitive game it was. In the first ten seconds of the game Lisa mistook the netty court for a dance floor, with a bit of Saturday night fever sliding across the court on her knees. There was more blood then the red wedding on Game of Thrones, but the girl is tiger tough and managed to bandage up her knees to make an inspiring return to the court. The girls showed great promise but unfortunately went down by a couple. The b grade girls were hungry - and I am not just talking about hungry for the post match canteen food. The girls wanted the win and they were not going to stop at anything less. Putting training into practice the girls faked it til they made it feeding in our gaolers beautifully and the defenders gave some heat in the ring getting turn over after turn over. Going in to the last quarter it was tight but the girls clawed their way to a 2 goal victory. Well done tiges! The A girls had a slow start giving the doggies the early jump. But what is important in a team sport is the 2nd, 3rd & 4th efforts and the girls did just this to earn the win! GO TIGES!
