Almost a full board of game’s being played this weekend, as Dromana and Red Hill played their round 9 games last Sunday.

8th July 2017 - Pink Round 29th July 2017 – Multicultural Round Best of luck to all sides for this weekend.

As we are fast approaching the halfway point, it is important to remember to take care of your volunteers. The people in your club that run around each week putting out the bins, setting up the canteen, sewing up the jumpers, stuffing advertising into the record, are the real heart and soul of our clubs. Take a moment to think about how you could take over one of these jobs at your club to help. There are plenty of ways to help. Just ask someone who is doing a job while you are standing around drinking your coffee or sitting warmly in your car waiting for the game to start. Thank you to all our volunteers. You help because you love your club and without you, the costs of running a club would be much higher. The annual ‘Women in Sport’ luncheon is on once again Friday 21st July. This year’s special guests are Susan Alberti AC, Sports Journalist Caroline Wilson and AFL W Coach of Collingwood FC Wayne Siekman. MC’d by leading sports broadcaster Tiffany Cherry this will be an event not to miss. For ticket please see your club or head to http://www.aflsoutheast.com.au/afl-south-east-womenin-sport-luncheon-peninsula-region

AFL South East AFL South East Senior Review Draft Recommendations Released AFL South East Region Commission is calling for industry feedback after today releasing its Senior Football Competition Review Draft Recommendations. The draft recommendations summarises feedback received by the review panel after undertaking individual consultation meetings with all senior clubs in the AFL South East region. Review panel chair and AFL South East Region General Manager John Anderson said that he was very pleased with the way the individual club consultations were conducted. “Clubs were open, honest and respectful during the process. The draft recommendations has been prepared to incorporate much of the feedback received and recorded during the consultation phase.” “It was encouraging to hear from a number of clubs during the consultation phase that the Commission should act in the best interests of football in the region.” “As a Region Commission we have a responsibility to grow and develop the game and it is imperative that any competition structure has the scope to achieve that,” Mr Anderson said. The draft recommendations provides two options for industry feedback: • A full divisional structure initially comprising three divisions with promotion/relegation between each. • A partial divisional structure also comprising three divisions, with a top division then two divisions below based on geography.

“The options not only address the concerns raised by the majority of clubs but they also strike a balance with the competing issues specific to some clubs. “It is critical that local footy evolves to meet the challenges facing our region – this direction preserves our history and sets up our future.” “Of prime importance is the ability of our league to attract new clubs to participate in the competition,” he said. All clubs were asked about the impact on netball during the consultation and a section of the paper has been devoted to issues facing local netball. There was a common thread in the feedback of retaining football and netball together at home games. However, there were a number of issues raised which need to be addressed in the next phase of the review and allowance has been made in the response document for further feedback. The 14 page paper plus schedules will be sent directly to stakeholders, but will also be available on the AFL South East website, http://www.aflsoutheast.com.au/afl-south-east-seniorcompetition-review In accordance with the Review’s Terms of Reference, clubs and other stakeholders have four weeks to respond to the options outlined in the paper. The review panel will consider the feedback before making a final recommendation to the Region Commission. Closing date for responses is Monday 3 July 2017.

John Anderson RGM AFL South East

Mr Anderson said the Commission believes the two options are fair and will provide much needed divisional competition between clubs.

The Peninsula Club Bar and Restaurant The Peninsula Club is located one street back from the Dromana foreshore on the corner of Gibson & Noel Streets in Dromana, Victoria 3936.

AFL Vic Country VIC COUNTRY ANNOUNCES INCLUSION SQUAD AFL Victoria has finalised its Vic Country representative squad ahead of the 2017 AFL National Inclusion Carnival next month. Twenty of country Victoria’s best players with disability, including four emergencies have been chosen to don the Big-V jumper as they prepare to take on the top talent from across the country. Selection comes following a training session which saw over 40 regional players showcase their skills at Bendigo’s Epson Huntly Reserve yesterday. Six AFL Victoria Region Commissions are represented in the final squad, with AFL North East Border (six), AFL Western District (four), AFL Wimmera Mallee (three) and AFL Goldfields (three) boasting the most representatives. In addition, all nine country community FIDA (Football Integration Development Association) clubs are represented, with players hailing from both the CVGT Australia Northern Conference and Western Conference. Leading the squad again for the second consecutive year is coach Matt Deegan who will be keen to improve on Vic Country’s third place result from last season. Held on the Gold Coast this year, the National Inclusion Carnival is a week-long competition for footballers with an intellectual disability to compete for their state in a National Championships. For the first time, all states and territories will have a team represented in the competition, with squads from the Northern Territory and Western Australia joining regular competitors Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, NSW/ACT, Vic Metro and Vic Country. AFL Victoria FIDA Football and AAA Programs Manager, Tim Nield said the 2017 Vic Country squad is a true reflection of the best regional talent in the state. “This year we are delighted to be able to have a representative from each of our nine country FIDA clubs, which is a great achievement for all the hard work and dedication of not only the players, but their local coaches and clubs,” Nield said.

“With the establishment of our two country conferences, the opportunity for people with disability in country Victoria to participate in our game has grown significantly, which has allowed a greater talent pool for our coaches to choose a squad with. “Seeing the exciting new talent which Vic Country has selected I’m confident they will be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the pointy end of the competition.” The 2017 AFL National Inclusion Carnival will kick off on Monday July 24. 2017 VIC COUNTRY INCLUSION SQUAD: NAME CLUB REGION Michael Scholz Gippsland Gippsland Kelvin Walters Gippsland Gippsland Harley Locke Ballarat Goldfields Hary Hunter Ballarat Goldfields Luke Byrne South Warrnambool Western District Harrison Surtees Wodonga North East Border Jared Redcliffe Wodonga North East Border Kieran Hartwich Hamilton Western District Tom Brody Hamilton Western District Alfred Muller Wimmera Wimmera Mallee Tyson Harris Wimmera Wimmera Mallee Matt Taylor Grampians Wimmera Mallee Joshua Jose Merriwa Magpies North East Border T Rhodes-Orton Merriwa Magpies North East Border Jackson Reeves Goulburn Valley Goulburn Murray Damien Cocks Echuca Moama Goulburn Murray EMERGENCIES Evan Reeves Ballarat Goldfields James Lyons South Warrnambool Western District Tom Newton Merriwa Magpies North East Border James Eikan Merriwa Magpies North East Border SUPPORT STAFF Matt Deegan – Head Coach Gordon Godwin – Assistant Coach Dean Pritchett – Team Manager

Football Preview TIGERS LOOK TO BREAK DROUGHT By Simon McEvoy SEAFORD hosts a second consecutive blockbuster, with three-time reigning champs FRANKSTON YCW coming to Miles Reserve to test the Tigers’ status as a contender. Seaford hasn’t beaten YCW in seven years – the Tigers’ last win over the Stonecats was in June, 2010 when they prevailed by a point, with a young Tom Shaw in the goals. It was two days after Julia Gillard replaced Kevin Rudd as Prime Minister! It’s a long drought Seaford is keen to break. The Tigers have taken some poundings from YC in recent seasons. This is surely the Tigers’ best chance in a long time to beat the champs. Seaford had been in sizzling form until it lowered its colours to Pines in a top-of-the-ladder clash last round. Seaford (4th) has won six of its eight games this season, while second-placed YCW (7-1) have dropped just one. BONBEACH (7-2) will look to consolidate a top-three spot by beating a struggling KARINGAL (1-7). Bonny, with Trent Dennis-Lane, Shane McDonald, Jackson Sole and co. in cracking form, have won four on the spin to confirm their status as a genuine contender. And they have been kicking big scores. Karingal has lost its past seven games, despite flashes of promise. The spring has gone out of CHELSEA’S step in the past month, three straight losses halting its climb up the ladder. The Seagulls, though, have had a tough draw. They’ve faced the top three teams in recent weeks, losing to Pines (69 points), Frankston YCW (56) and Bonbeach (51). Today, the Seagulls’ task seemingly gets easier, when they face a team below them on the ladder, MORNINGTON, although the Bulldogs shouldn’t be taken lightly. They roared back to form at their last outing, thumping Langwarrin by 10 goals to snap a five-game losing streak. It sets up a big clash at Chelsea Reserve. The Seagulls will look to Jesse Davies, Lexian Xiberras, Josh Herdman and Brendan Dess to continue their good form. Mornington had 35 scoring shots last round as Jai Haddock, Warwick Miller, Jake Smart, Broden Bird and Xavier Barry-Murphy ran rampant. Jackson Calder could be one to watch today. He slotted six goals against Chelsea last season. PINES is set to receive a test of its premiership credentials at home against MT ELIZA. The Pythons (7-1) are being touted as the real deal in 2017 but it’s fair to say the Mounties have had the wood on them in recent seasons. Mt Eliza beat Pines three times last season, including twice in the finals.

But this is a better Pythons outfit which fears no one. Pines passed an important test last round when it beat Seaford by 17 points. Paul Scanlon imposed himself on the game to ignite the Pythons, while Aaron Edwards, with 23 goals in his past three games, is having a superb season. Guy Hendry, Nick Boswell, Brad Kiely and Luke Potts also have been in good form. This is a big game for Mt Eliza, which is clinging on to fifth spot. The Redlegs are still yet to win two games in a row this season, although they also haven’t lost two in a row. But there’s little doubt they need a lift. Perhaps it will come from the in-form Ben Landry, Shane Tennant and Rohan Heasley. Bottom side LANGWARRIN is still seeking its first win of the season when it hosts EDI-ASP. Brad Dredge’s Kangaroos (0-8) have been competitive, with only one team (Seaford) scoring 100 points against them. They’ve pushed Frankston YCW and Bonbeach – yet the wins column is bare. Langy will again start outsiders today but sooner or later they will surprise. Edi-Asp (4-4) is edging closer to a topfive spot. The Eagles, if they are to play finals, must win these games against sides below them on the ladder, and with Mark Mullins, Liam Harris, Brendan Neville and Angus Macquire all in good form, they should do so today.

Football Preview LANGY LOOKING GOOD IN THE RESERVES… After a stirring win last round, LANGWARRIN goes into its big clash with EDI-ASP with confidence. A win here and the Kangaroos will be pushing for a spot in the five. Jake Prosser has given Langy a spark since coming into the side, while James Longley, Dan Riley and Brendan Caspar continue to play good footy. Premiership contenders SEAFORD and FRANKSTON YCW go head-to-head in the match of the round. The Tigers have beaten top five sides Pines and Edi-Asp in the past two rounds, while YC are coming off a 10-goal win. PINES (5-3) will get a true gauge on how it’s going when it tackles undefeated MT ELIZA. BONBEACH gets the chance to improve its record to 5-5 when it faces bottom side KARINGAL. CHELSEA and MORNINGTON will be both chasing a third win. PYTHONS STICK AT IT IN THE UNDER 19s... Although winless, PINES served it up to Chelsea a few weeks ago before a heavy loss to Seaford last week. The Pythons, who meet second-place MT ELIZA today, are on the right track as Joel Nicholls, Dylan Williams and Jake Pusch continue to lead the way. SEAFORD has won four of its past five to consolidate fifth spot, with Isaac Nippard, Bradley Magee, Ayden Woodward and Riley Maggio in dashing form. But the Tigers face the ultimate test today against undefeated ladder leaders FRANKSTON YCW. Lachlan Street (25 goals) and Jarrod Sullivan (17) lead a potent Stonecats attack. LANGWARRIN has the chance to put a two-game gap between itself and EDI-ASP in this third-versus-fourth tilt. Look for Langy’s Matt Peynenborg (23 goals), Liam O’Halloran and Liam McDonald to continue their good form. Coming off a stirring win, BONBEACH goes into its clash with KARINGAL full of confidence. CHELSEA needs a win when it hosts MORNINGTON (3-5).

Club Notes Local derby last Saturday as we hosted Bonbeach at home , didn’t go to plan as we were beaten in all Grades. Also copped a serious injury in the Seniors and we wish Daniel Knowles a speedy and safe recovery. A real shame as he was having a super season. The 19’s whilst trying hard and mounting a great comeback simply kicked themselves out of the game, 4 / 16 just dosen’t cut it. Good players were Baurm, Long, Balfe, Mokarake & King. The 2’s really didn’t strike a blow and were well beaten by a good side, numbers still down and we will hopefully get some players back this week. Jordy Atwell is having a good year well supported by Brooke, Bourke, Bresic and Arsie , keep punching lad’s. The Seniors came up short again after a solid first half after being jumped, 3 solid quarters just won’t get it done in this Comp. On the up side Jesse Davies, promoted from the 19’s played a cracking 1st senior game for the Club and i’m sure there are many more to come. Also Josh Herdman in his 1st year at Chelsea is performing really well, Lex and Luke Casperz also combining well down back for us most weeks. We got smashed in the midfield on Saturday and we need to Right that situation the week lad’s. The instructions are quite clear so let’s all put our best foot forward this week v’s Mornington in another home game. Also lot’s of social event’s coming up so please get behind the Club over the next month and beyond. $5000 Draw tickets now out there .. See you at the Gullery

Club Notes We hosted Langwarrin 2 weeks ago at the kennel & the Seniors came out of the blocks well leading at quarter time 3.5 to 2.0. Mick McGowan was relishing ruck duties & Broden Bird continued his good form coming up from the 19’s with Xavier Barry-Murphy was finding plenty of space on the wing. Dominating the play we found ourselves 31 points up at half time and with a win in the air the boys put the foot down and finished off the second half winning by 63 points. The margin would’ve been bigger but poor kicking in front of goal saw us kick 12.23. Warwick Miller and Jake Smart dominated across half back and Joel Miller continued his wonderful season. In the Ressies for the first half the boys came to play with us going in at half time with a slight lead and playing some good footy. The start of the second half we didn’t score a goal until the third quarter and that made it hard for the rest of the game and we went down by a couple of goals. The result makes it tough for the rest of the season, but we are not going to throw in the towel just yet & keep fighting for the rest of the season. The 19’s after 80 minutes of super competitive footy against a strong Langy team we fell just short of the mark. Our last month has been really consistent and has had us in winning positions late in our matches. With just an ounce of good fortune our ladder position may have look a lot more attractive. We are very confident that this groups best footy is front of us. Go Doggies WOOF WOOF

Today we welcome Edithvale Aspendale to Lloyd Park. Coming off the bye round refreshed , and refocussed we are hoping to come away with wins in all 3 games today. The last round, up against Mornington saw us have 2 wins. The 19’s continued their great form with a good win. The reserves too played well and came away with a 10 point win. In the seniors we again tried hard, but struggled to get a competitive score on the board. It was a disappointing result given where both teams are on the ladder. On a positive note , it is good to see us playing the youngsters , all of whom step up and acquit themselves well as they make the adjustments required in tempo and timing to play senior footy. Lets hope that all these efforts from all involved are rewarded shortly with a win n the one’s! In social notes , dont forget that we have the car raffle tickets available at the club. Only $20.00 could see you walk away with a brand new car. Also our $5K draw is coming up shortly too. Plenty of social activiites , plenty of endeavour on the grround, indeed as we come off ther bye round its all happening here at Langy !!! Go langy !!!

All recharged after the break.. 3 tough games last week against our neighbours. The main game was a great spectacle with Edwards, Boswell, Scanlon and Thomas been in the best. Reserves were right in it to the end. Improvement and players to come back will be thereabouts. Best were Parker, Hearnden and McPherson. Unders tried hard again under Stella’s guidance . Best players were Humphrey, Nicholls and Philp. Couple of huge games this week , make sure we visit the new netball courts and support the pythonettes. Couple big milestones this week with Jake Berry playing his life membership game. Bez has been a outstanding servant of the club and showing leadership captaining the 2s this year. Well done Bez.. Beau Hendry will play game 200 this week. Our favorite ginger Lad, fearless leader, captain, committee man and all round good bloke. Let’s get two wins for these greats that bleed red and green.. Luncheon coming up against bonbeach with Damien Fleming guest speaker... See committee for details... OWN THE HILL

A mixed bag a fortnight ago as we took on Bonbeach at home. The Under 19’s got the day off to a great start with an amazing 50 scoring shots to just 1. Ryan Morrison was tremendous booting 6 & Niall Snooks 4, to add to the other 9 individual goal kickers. Other better players included Cal Rice, Max Rea, Aaron Jackson & U/17 Player Luke Webster. In the Reserves it was 1st v 3rd which promised a tight affair. In a low scoring 1st half we led by a couple of points, but kicked 4.4 to 2.3 after the break to win by 14. Wetters booted 3 to be in the best, along with Thorpey, Bez, Clears, Toucs (2) & Harry Smith. The Club wishes Zal White all the best after he suffered a dislocated ankle / broken fibula in the game. The Seniors led by a couple of points at ¼ time before Bonbeach booted 5 goals to 2 in the 2nd to lead by 17 points at half time. They skipped away in the 3rd to lead by 32 points at the last change and although we narrowly won the last quarter we went down by 27. Langers was best on again and Tenno, Heasa & Gorms were gallant. We need to bounce back against Pines this arvo. Social: “Masquerade Ball” – Downstairs @ Mornington Racecourse – Sat July 1st, $10,000 Draw Sunday 9th July. Welcome to RFMiles Reserve today in what should be another cracking day of football across 3 grades. A fantastic night was held at Frankston Dolphins rooms for our 2007 Senior Premiership Reunion. Superb job by Ben Cadd in organising the night and I hope you get to kick back and enjoy the reunion celebrations as they continue today. Crazy to think it’s been 10years since that season and what a legacy it has shaped to where we are today. One of those premiership players on that day has even more reason to celebrate this week with notching his 200th Senior game today. Congrats Kieren Shaw Kiz comes from a very popular Seaford family who all have made significant contributions to our Club on and off the field over the years. I’m in quite awe of Kizza’s ability to continue to fly back into a pack and his cool head in a crisis. Kiz just bleeds Yellow and Black and I hope you enjoy the day mate. Very big thank you to the massive turnout last week to help celebrate Joeys and Shortyd milestone day. Really great to see so many faces spanning back 3 decades of former teammates. Just s reminder to our guests that today and for the remainder of the season we will continue to promote a healthier environment for our players, spectators, families and officials by having NO smoking at the Reserve. APART from one designated area which is behind the scoreboard area. Appreciate your support in advance of this.

Hard to believe we are at the half way mark, and we are off to the R F Miles Oval today to tackle the Tigers in what looks like three blockbuster contests. Fittingly we celebrate our Skipper Jie Coghlan’s 200th 1st 18 match so what better way to celebrate than with three victories. Oh that it was that simple !! Last game we went to Chelsea where the Ones broke away after quarter time and ran away with the game. Ryley and Laffa were great, Debbo booted 4 goals and Tony Lester racked up possessions at will. Great to see Kyle Hutch maintain his consistency. Murph’s Mighties continued their sparkling form with a strong 10 goal win. James Bryant was best, backed up by cameos from Wako (7 goals) and Schneids. Jack Matthews and Pat Davenport went well also. The Unders had a comfortable win over the Seagulls. In an even performance Jacob Sullivan, Haydos and Caleb Douglas were best. Jarrod Sully (4) and Ben Crackers (3) provided targets. The Stonekittens won all their games - their notes are readable elsewhere in this journal. The 20 year (1997) 1sts and 2nds premiership reunion is on July 1 (the Mornington game) so it’s time to round up the heroes to discuss and embellish the heroics. A fortnight later we are off to the Frankston RSL for the Gala Ball also known as frock up night. Don’t forget the members draw each Thursday in the rooms - you gotta be there to win and it Jackpots if it doesn’t go off. Then, don’t forget, we have Hatchy and Lindsay’s famous “Pick a Face” raffles.

Don’t Blink Twice…Or Else You Might Just Miss It… Occasionally...or just every so often what we call a miracle occurs. And guess what? Saw one last week… Was having a bit of a wander around training the other night and out the corner of the eye something strange occurred. Not satisfied with the glimpse a full blown stop and head turn was required. There’s a lot of mythical creatures that society claims to have seen over the stretch of time. Unicorns…Yeti…Loch Ness Monster…An inviting Mother-In-Law. But never, no not once in ancient or modern history had there ever been a sighting quit like this… On the SUA track, smack bang in the middle of Kananook Oval was a goal umpire. But not just any goal umpire. It was a goal umpire engaged in training. But there’s more…he wasn’t just stretching his index finger…or performing bicep curls under the weight of a hotdog or two. He was actually running. Exerting physical energy. Sprinting down the guts of the ground quicker than some of those so called freak-fitness field umpires. But it doesn’t stop there either. He had mates…goal umpiring mates…a truck load of them. Enough to absolutely shatter any kind of sales record of a large hotdog company. And every single one of them sprinting the line (think that’s what it’s called), darting in and around agility poles to show off their discreet food platter snatching techniques and squats and lunges to ensure core strength to keep the lowest point of gravity for those ever so frequent (and hilarious) slips in the muddy goal squares. That all doesn’t even include the extensive skill drill regime to guarantee some seriously damn good looks while straddling that goal line and invading the tall slender goal post’s personal space.

Allegedly it’s been going on all year. That’s what the jungle drums say. Ask any goal umpire though and they reckon they’ve been genuinely training since the turn of time. Flag were first waved to signify goals in games back in 1887. Who in the world of common sense is going to believe they actually moved, yet alone ran, all the way back then? Still puzzled about the whole situation? Think this is just one of those folklore porkies that grows in dramatics around the warmth of a campfire while downing a soothing liquid and toasting marshmallows? Well it still might be… Mythical creatures aren’t real…Miracles don’t actually happen…Or do they? Note to all hotdog companies: If keen to boost sales to increase the bottom line for corporate management get down to the goal square of Kananook Oval on a Wednesday Night. Netball Notes Mornington Bulldogs

Round 8 against Langwarrin was mixed results with A Grade coming up against a quick, agile side who meant business from the outset. Carli stepped up superbly from B grade and really held her own in defence. Sarah took on much of the goaling workload in attack and was named BOC. The girls fought back to win the third quarter but the Langwarrin girls were too strong through the midcourt and won the game comfortably in the end. B Grade had a fabulous match with the team combining really well throughout the match, Charli being the standout in goals. Despite a bit of a mid-term slump in the third quarter this was the best all round match the girls have played to date. C Grade girls were well defeated by a hungrier side. Meg who gave it her all as she does in every game. We actually got plenty of the ball we just didn’t use it to our advantage. The girls need to bounce back this week against Chelsea. D Grade beat second on the ladder, Langwarrin, by 2 goals. What a game, and what a fight from the girls. This is how netball should be played, with intensity and passion. Even if the score was flipped it was a game everyone was proud of. It was a great team effort but well done to Sam, who moved from goals into defence and had the impact that we needed, putting pressure on the goalers and causing the turnovers, the rest of the team then capitilised on that and our goalers rewarded the hard work by not missing !! Good Luck today girls & Go Doggies

Edithvale - Aspendale Eagles

Round 9 v Langwarrin bought to you by the ‘Eagles 100 Club’. After 8 years competing in the Mpnfl Netball Leagues, it is satisfying to see the number of our players who are joining our ‘100 Club”! Currently Britt, Bri, Holly B, Caris & Jess have all played in excess of 100 games. These girls are Originals, Premiership Captains, Multiple Premiership players & it’s great that they are still flying as Eagles! Soon we will be inducting a few more loyal players into this exclusive club. Zoe has currently played 98 games as an Eagle. Two time Premiership Player & League representative Zoe is a talented goaler but will injury impede her being the next to join the 100 club? Hot on the heels of Zoe are Wendo & Brookie, both who have played 96 games. Wendo is an Original, a Premiership Captain & Coach, 4 times Premiership player, winner of the Kenny Lyons MVP Award & a great person to have around the club! Reaching the 100 games mark is a true testament to Wendo’s character as during her time she has had a full knee reconstruction & given birth to “Tornado Darcy” yet she has always been around & is currently playing terrific netball. Brookie is also an Original, Premiership Captain, 4 Times Premiership Player, Club Award winner who for some reason retired last year but has made a great come back & she is playing better than ever! It will be interesting to see which player gets there first! Don’t forget our Casino Night on Tonight! Soar Eagles!!

Pines Pythonettes Karingal Bullettes

This week we travel to Shark Park to take on Bonbeach. We have enjoyed the break of the Queens Birthday long weekend but it is back to business for the Bullettes. Our A grade side is the only undefeated side in the competition. With the likes of Mardi, Jayde and Renee combining in defence, is it any wonder why? A great win last round against Edi. B grade also had a full side in last round and also took the win. BBM is solid week in and week out while Em was best on court simply AMAZING! C grade dominated from the first whistle and took away an 11 goal win. Playing their best game of the season, the girls just gelled and capitalised on every turnover. D grade unfortunately did not play the best game of netball. Errors cost them in a game that they definitely could have won. Jess, Laura and Gerry did a great job through the mid court and worked extremely hard. Eventually going down by a 15 goal margin, it definitely could have been a different result. Dates to remember: Man O Man is back 5th August 2017. Get in quick to book your ticket. See Troy! #GOBULLS #REDWHITEBOOM

Last round saw us play against Seaford at our old stomping Linen House. Our D Grade girls have had a tough season but came into the game confident to get their first win. And win they did! The girls have begun putting together everything they have worked hard on at training and put together a 10 goal win. C Grade had an extremely tough match against a very tall Seaford side but persisted and finished out the match with a team effort. Game of the day went to B Grade who ended a very tough and tight match with a draw! The girls had a lead but unfortunately let Seaford creep back in towards the end of the game! Very exciting match for all to watch! A Grade stuck with a very speedy Seaford for some of the match however struggled to keep up all game. Plenty of things to take out of the match and hopefully show improvement in the coming weeks. This week C and D Grade will have played on Thursday night against Mt Eliza as we have our annual Ladies Day! Get excited for a fun filled day with plenty of champagne and treats whilst we watch the boys take on Mt Eliza!

Netball Notes Frankston YCW StoneKittens

Last week saw our Kittens take on Chelsea at Chelsea which meant a week off (plus the long weekend!) for our A graders so they should be rip and raring to take on the Tigers today! Starting us off with a smashing 39-19 win thanks to a lot of hard work off the court recently. So impressive to see the girls transferring the skills worked on at training into their games with such commitment. Strong mid court leads & driving down the line set up the passes into the ring much better. Best On had to go to gun gaoler Grace! Next up was our C grade who battled through some parts but managed to get the win (just) with 37-33. Lots of little things for our C graders to take on board & improve with this season mainly with connecting the dots between players even with position changes but as always lots of positives to take away & Best On goes to Tyler B for taking on instruction & following through brilliantly. Finishing off our early day were our B grade girls with an interesting but comfortable 65-19 win. Some fantastic passages of play with these girls really coming into their stride, trusting each other to play a fast game with lots of long balls knowing that someone will be there to finish it off. Best On went to Amelia down in defence with some solid footwork and special mention to partner in crime Tamara B for 50 games, Congratulations! This week is Stonecats vs Tigers at Seaford, let’s go Kittens! Meow :)

Mt Eliza Red Legs

Round 8 we welcomed Bonbeach to Toorak College. D GRADE came out firing with an 18 goal to 1 first quarter & from there the goals just kept coming. The girls had an emphatic win (51-13) with their skills on full display. Olivia had a fantastic game & really led by example while Krystal played well at both ends. C GRADE followed suit & were dominant from the start, it was pleasing to see them put their foot down at every break to walk away with a 30 goal win (55-25). Mandy & Katelyn had ripper games in defence while Holly really stepped up & put into practice what she has been working on at training. B GRADE’s skill was too much for the Sharks & the trend continued with a 29 goal win (54-25). Abbey & Bec connected well in goals while Di lead the defence end. The Red Legs composure against the physical Sharks was commendable, the girls are really making their mark on the competition. A GRADE were unstoppable, it was a great game to watch. The mid court gelled well, Ellie & Carly worked tirelessly while it was great to see Bayley debut in defence. Steph was a force in goals & was well supported by Bridget. The Redlegs walked away with a 31 goal win (60-29) to top off a dominant day in all 4 grades. We look forward to the break this week before we take on Pines to officially be halfway through the season. LADDER UPDATE A = 6th B = 4th C = 4th D = 5th

Seaford Tigers

Saturday saw us take on Pines.. here’s how we went. The D grade girls had to work overtime this week as they were dealing with a lot out to injury and sickness throughout the team. Unfortunately couldn’t get the win on the day. Special thanks to Cameo Tigers for letting Tai Toelau step up and fill in! C GRADE-The ball flowed well down the court & players stepped up. It all came together to see the girls win by 26 goals! Kaileighs hunger for the ball and general all round enthusiasm shon on the day. Keisha, No more apologising for bumping into your players, amazing drives.. HIGH FIVES KEISHA! Onto the B grade... 1st quarter was not one we would like to remember. We weren’t playing our game and went into the quarter time break 7 down. 2nd quarter we came out playing our game, & managed to win each quarter. Unfortunately the end result was a draw, which no one enjoys when we know that was our game to win after making such a turn around. Special mentions to Lay for stepping up & playing defence when she needed to, Shib as usual killed it and put in 110%. A GRADE- it was a tough start for the girls, but they managed to break away in the 2nd. The ball flowed easy from defence to attack, was a really nice clean game to watch, and they won by 30. Our resident superstar, Nish, played both attack & defence on the day and killed it, Carly and Hoskos fast feet in attack with with precise drives. Jenna was solid and really stepped up on the day! Chelsea was as sick as a dog killed it!

Netball Notes Bonbeach Sharks

*to be read to the tune of Summer of 69* Next game against Karingal, week off and we’re feeling fine. Amanda’s back from her holiday, damn, they’re all six foot nine. At the function, the boys all drool, Had a crack n they tried real hard. Rose and, Benny Hogan I should’ve known Billy wouldn’t get far.

Oh, when Taela looks back now, she knows she chose the wrong full foward. Trent is the one to back, Yeah, he kicked 9 goals, he was the best on ground that day. Ain’t no use in complainin’ When you’ve got a game to win Spend our Thursday’s training at shark park, That’s where we’re gonna improve yeah! Standin’ on the netty court, Lou told us that we’ve gotta drive harder, Oh, and we’re shooting goals. We’re new and we’re moving upwards, These are the best days for Bonbeach! Oh, yeah, Bonny’s back and we’re looking fine! Eddo and Battsy out, Ft. Coach Manders. #finsup

Chelsea Seagulls

Chelsea Netball enjoyed a bye this round to host our annual Ladies Day - celebrating the wonderful women in and behind the scenes for netball and football. We had a strong turnout of netballers, netball umpires, senior and junior football mums, all who put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to help our games, sports club, events and canteen run smoothly. Some of our Bonbeach netball colleagues also joined us to watch our seniors play. We catered a high tea for 70 wonderful women, with champagne on arrival, loads of beautiful savoury and sweet offerings, and stacks of raffle prizes. What a joy it was for us all to watch our Chelsea Junior Football girls and boys run out on the field with our Senior players and warm up with them. Thanks to MPFNL for allowing us to swap this weekend and play in round 15 instead. A great day had by all!

Langwarrin Kangaroos

Round 8 saw us travel down to a sunny Mornington to take on the doggies. D grade kicked off the day and unfortunately could not come away with the win. Losing star goaler Jess to a serious ankle injury in the final quarter caused concern in our camp, eventuating in the girls going down by 2 goals. We would like to thank Mornington once again for their professionalism and assistance in dealing with our injured player. Up for the challenge next, our c girls put on strong full court defence that rattled our rivals and helped us gain the four points. A solid full team performance saw us take the match by 6 goals. B grade fought hard all day against a well drilled Mornington outfit. We showed glimpses of our best but are yet to show it over four quarters. Unfortunately the final result didn’t go our way, but the girls are determined to keep pushing til we get our desired results. Match of the day, saw a very physical battle in A grade. We come away with an exciting 11 goal win, cementing our intentions for a finals berth. Overall, a day of mixed results but plenty of positives to drive our hunger to become stronger and stronger!
