MPNFL Updates MPNFL Update Round 10 2017 Welcome to Round 10 of the 2017 home and away season for both Peninsula FNL and Nepean FNL. AFLSE recognise the importance of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone to participate within the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League. We recognise that on, and off, the field, bad behaviour reflects not only on individuals but also the team, club, league and the game of Australian Football. As a collective, we should not be tolerating unsportsmanlike behaviour in any form and need to adopt a zero tolerance to any behaviour that does not reflect our values or community expectations.

Just a reminder that football registrations close on June 30. Please contact us or a local club if you are interested in playing football in the MPNFL. Themed and feature rounds coming up; ·

1st July 2017 – It’s ok no to be ok Round

·

8th July 2017 - Pink Round

·

29th July 2017 – Multicultural Round

Best of luck to all sides for this weekend.

Abusing umpires, officials, participants or spectators should be called out before it escalates or the behaviour offends or excludes people from enjoying being involved in the great MPNFL competition. As you would be aware last weekend, there was a significant incident in the Pines v Mt Eliza U19 match where young Pines player Kadel Key went into cardiac arrest after being hit in the face by the football. The swift actions of the qualified trainers and first responders on the ground assisted in the professional management of the emergency. As a result, Kadel is recovering well and on the road to recovery. Don’t forget to secure your table at the annual ‘Women in Sport’ luncheon scheduled for Friday 21st July. Special guests include Susan Alberti AC, Sports Journalist Caroline Wilson and AFL W Coach of Collingwood FC Wayne Siekman. MC’d by leading sports broadcaster Tiffany Cherry this will be an event not to miss. AFL Vic Country Initial Vic Country Big-V Squads announced Worksafe AFL Victoria Country has released its initial senior and Energy Safe Under-19 representative squads ahead of its clash against the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) next month. Thirty-eight of Victoria’s best country senior players are in the running to don the Big V jumper when the pair meet their metro rivals in the 2017 Brian Molony Cup at Frankston City Oval on July 8. Eight different country football leagues are represented in the initial senior squad, with Ovens & Murray Football League (eight), Geelong Football League (eight), Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (five) and Ballarat Football League (five) boasting the most selections. Held biennially, the 2017 Brian Molony Cup is set to reignite one of the longest-standing rivalries in community football as the best from the bush take on the best from the burbs. Country Victoria’s top senior footballers will be led by former AFL player and coach and Bungaree Football Club product Danny Frawley, who took over the reins from Hawthorn legend Peter Knights last year. Defeating the VAFA by 62-points in the pair’s last meeting at Bendigo in 2015, Vic Country will be looking to extend its winning streak over their traditional rivals. In addition, Vic Country’s next generation of community stars will have the chance to showcase their skills in the Under 19 Challenge Cup. Twelve different country football leagues have representatives included in the initial 53-player squad, with Ovens & Murray FL (11), Mornington Peninsula Nepean FL (10) and Geelong FL (nine) securing the most representatives. Victoria’s brightest young regional talent will once again be led by Yarrawonga co-coach Damien Sexton, who will suit up for his ninth season at the helm.

The Energy Safe Victoria Country Under 19 squad has recorded emphatic victories in its last three encounters against VAFA, defeating their metro opponents by 44-points at Mernda Reserve last season. Both squads will conduct three training sessions in the lead up to their representative clashes, with the final squads to be trimmed to 22-players each. The Under 19 Challenge Cup will kick off at 11:30am as a curtain raiser to the 2017 Brian Molony Cup at 2:15pm at Frankston City Oval on Saturday July 8. Football Preview BULLDOGS BACK IN FORM By Simon McEvoy MORNINGTON has resurrected its season with two successive wins, and now it has a point to prove against PINES. After being 1-6, the Bulldogs (3-6) are showing they still have plenty of bark left in them. When Mornington last met Pines, in Round 5, Mornington managed only one goal for the entire game. The Bulldogs’ score that day of 1.5 (11) was one of their lowest of all time. Today, Mornington will be not only be playing to win, but also for pride. Back in form, the Bulldogs are a chance to upset the Pythons. Warwick Miller has been super for Mornington, along with Emilio Bitters, Joel Miller, Pete McGettigan, Jai Haddock and co. Pines was slightly off last week and as a result was beaten. Coach Paddy Swayn will be demanding a committed and focused display from the first bounce today. Impressive last round winners MT ELIZA has plenty of motivation to beat CHELSEA at Madsen Reserve after losing to the Seagulls in Round 4. The Redlegs also haven’t been able to win two games in a row this season and their form on their home turf has been average; they’ve lost their past two home games (to Edi-Asp and Bonbeach). In fifth spot, Mt Eliza needs to step up to the plate today. The Redlegs played some of their best football of the season last week, led by James Anwyl, Matt Hill, Aaron Dunne, Karl Lombardozzi, Dave Barton and Sam Gill. Chelsea also has plenty to play for today. The Seagulls led Mornington at halftime last week only to be reeled in. Coach Brett Dunne was very disappointed and says it’s time his side seized their opportunities. He says the days of honourable losses are gone for Chelsea. They’ve got the players to beat any opposition side. KARINGAL, coming off a 111-point loss, has the job ahead when it faces flag contender SEAFORD. Apart from flashes of promise, it’s been tough going for the Bulls (18) this season. Young gun Jake Kelly was hard on himself late in the game last week, clearly disappointed to be on the end of another loss. But it’s character building and he will be a better player for experiencing these testing times. Teenager Nathan McDonald caught the eye with a terrific senior debut last week and has a bright future. Seaford, after a six-game winning streak, has lost its past two to Pines and Frankston YCW, but the Tigers have the talent and experience to reload and put their season back on track.

FRANKSTON YCW coach Wayne Capp declared his side’s win over Seaford last week as its best of the season. It could be ominous news for EDI-ASP who make the trip to Coburn Oval today to try to slay the giants of Peninsula footy. You could also make a case that Edi-Asp is in season-best form. The Eagles have won three of their past four games, Tim Mannix is hitting his straps, Mick Meehan is booting goals and the Macquire brothers are flying. Back in Round 5, YCW beat Edi-Asp by 44 points, with Kyle Hutchison and Scott MacLeod among the best players on the ground. The pair was in cracking form last week, too, and again loom as key men today. LANGWARRIN continues its quest for its first win of the season when it hosts a red-hot BONBEACH (8-2). While Langy hasn’t had much to celebrate this season, it’s worth noting they did win the opening quarter against Bonny back in Round 4, booting four of the first six goals. Bonbeach fought back to post a 26-point win that day but there wasn’t a lot between the sides. The Sharks won’t be taking the Kangaroos lightly.

Football Preview A CHANGE OF LUCK IN THE RESERVES... MORNINGTON has had a frustrating run of near misses, exacerbated by a draw last week. Now the Bulldogs face finals-bound PINES. But with Luke Fitzsimmons, James Turnbull, Leith Pellissier and co in cracking form, perhaps the Dogs can finally have a slice of luck. LANGWARRIN and BONBEACH put on a great contest earlier in the season and another tight tussle is on the cards to day. The Sharks could climb into the five. FRANKSTON YCW host EDI-ASP in a sure-to-be hotly contest third-versus-fifth clash. Edi-Asp, with Lochie Brodie, Jake O’Neill, Dan McCarthy and James Watterson playing consistent footy, is chasing a hat trick of wins. MT ELIZA, with Josh Curren and Michael Cleary in impressive form, can make it 10 straight by beating ninthplaced CHELSEA, while bottom side KARINGAL will find it hard against second-placed SEAFORD (8-1). STONECATS READY FOR TEST IN THE UNDER 19s... Undefeated ladder leaders FRANKSTON YCW faces a good test today against an inform EDI-ASP on a threegame winning streak. Matt Rouget, Nathan Gaunt, Ben Ward, Campbell Ak, Harley Dale and Zack O’Neill have been in cracking form for the Eagles, but they’ll need to curb the influence of top Stonecats Jacob Roberts, Caleb Douglas, Bailey Williams and Mackenna Hura. MORNINGTON can continue its push for a top-five spot by beating PINES. Look for Tim Susovich, Hayden Anderson and Oliver Walsh to play well for the Bulldogs. KARINGAL and SEAFORD meet in a crucial clash. Both sides are 5-4 and the winner will take an important step towards a finals berth. Beau Merdanovic, Steve Tapolczay and Nathan Villella are some of the in-form Bulls, while Seaford’s Isaac Nippard continues to enjoy a splendid season. LANGWARRIN should be able to shore up a top three spot by beating BONBEACH. In-form Kangas Jacob Allan, Josh Holloway and Zac Foot will play key roles today. MT ELIZA should be too strong for CHELSEA.

Club Notes

Today we welcome the Edi-Asp footballers and netballers to the Coburn Oval for some quality contests across both codes. The pressure continues as we move into the second half of the season. Off to the tricky Seaford Oval last week where the Unders started our day well with a 50 point victory. Jacob Roberts and Caleb Douglas were the standouts whilst Jarrod Sullivan booted 4 goals. The Magoos had a stumble with a last quarter they’d rather forget. Pat Davenport and James Bryant continued their stellar form and Chas Coyne was busy. Cappy’s Crusaders began brightly and, despite inaccuracy, maintained their advantage. Mack and Scooter were great, Josh Butts(5) provided a target and Bruhny was solid. The Stonekittens won three of their games - read their notes elsewhere. We have a busy social time coming up starting with the 20 year (1997) 1sts and 2nds premiership reunion on July 1 (the Mornington game). A fortnight later we are off to the Frankston RSL for the Gala Ball. The Collopy Club lunch is on July 29 (Karingal game) and the guest speaker is Hawthorn great Gary Buckenara. On August 19 (Chelsea game) we have a bumper lunch with John Sylvester (aka “Sly of the Underworld”) to entertain us and elucidate on matters Underbelly. Cost includes a two course luncheon and a two hour drinks package. Details to come Don’t forget the members draw each Thursday in the rooms - you gotta be there to win or it jackpots. Also we have Hatchy and Lindsay’s famous “Pick a Face” raffles.

Club Notes A big welcome to Lloyd Park this week to the Bonbeach Footy club. Though the weather is getting colder , we hope that today is filled with plenty of hot footy action. Last week against Edi-Aspendale, we couldn’t manage a win. Though we didn’t win , there were signs especially in the seniors that we aren’t far off. We tried hard all day , but kicked inaccuratley. With several key players out , it was a good effort. Surely the highlight of the day was Matty Peyenbourg’s mark and goal with his first kick in senior footy. Well done Matty on such a great start to what we hope is a long career ahead of you in senior Langy footy. Peachy continued his good form , and Tuddy and Siz were there usual creative selves down back. Our U/19’s played as always a well structured and exciting brand of footy , a slow start ultimately costing us the win. Chris Stanley rallied and inspired his players well throughout the contest. In the 2’s we matched them around the game , however we couldnt get a winning score on the board. Let’s hope that this week all the efforts on and off the track, by all here at Langwarrin pays off and we have a win! Club Notes A huge Community Match day on Saturday. At our upstairs luncheon we talked all things community. We raised awareness for Bowell Cancer putting our support behind local youngster Callum Dobson. Our alignment with Camp Awakenings was on show with a great presentation from Mickey and Sandy. Our guest speaker Scott Watters summed up our theme perfectly using his experience and passion to deliver an inspiring message on youth and the power of personal brand and the important role community sporting clubs play in ensuring the youth of today can be the best they can be. On the lawn the Jumping Castle, face painting, Auskick and giveaways were favourite with the kids. The weather also looked after us with dry and sunny conditions. Thanks to everyone who supported the day. On field all teams performed well again. Our seniors delivered a league season high 22 Goals in a big win. Most pleasing aspect in a successful run of wins is our youth with 7 guys under 20 years old performing well each week. The future looks strong at Bonbeach. In the reserves Bully’s boys continue to find some of last season’s form and are edging closer to a top 5 spot. A big fortnight for them awaits. The 19’s continue to develop with each game with plenty of promise and some winnable matches to come. June-July is jamb packed with great Bonbeach Events! Club Notes

Today we welcome our Sponsors and Life Members to the club. We thank them all for their support of our club & hope they have a great day. Last week the Seniors were frustrating to watch, especially in the second quarter where the boys let Chelsea kicked 7 to 1 to get back into the game. They luckily regrouped or it might have been the spray from the coach at half time and came out after half time to regain the momentum and went away to win by 15 points. They won’t be able to do that today against a side that gave us hiding last time we met. The boys will have to be on their game from the beginning if they want to over come the power that is the Pines FC. In the Ressies a game both teams needed to win. The whole match was close with both teams taking the lead at different stages during the game .The boys did not give up all day and the final result was a draw with each team getting two points. We might not of got the four points but our football as a team is getting better and I am sure the wins will come the second half of the season. The pups won but it could have been more if we had of been better in front of goals. It was scrappy all day but we will gladly take the 4 points. We also welcomed back Lauchie Hewitt who sustained a serious head injury earlier in the year & another Lauchie played his first game for the club and are warm welcome extends to the Mitchell family. Good luck to all the teams today. Go Doggies WOOF WOOF

Club Notes

Not the results we were after against a more hungrier Mt Eliza club... Seniors were in the game most of the game but the Mounties finished a bit stronger. Better players were Edwards, Scanlon,Thomas and Boyle. Reserves lacked a bit of polish which was the difference in the end. Best players again were Goldsmith, Chalkley, Lawrence and Tedge. Unders only played a minimal part of there game until a unfortunate incident. Pleased to say Kadel will be back to his normal self in the future. Great work by the medical staff on both teams for there professionalism in the situation. Don’t forget luncheon coming up... See committee for details.. OWN THE HILL

Club Notes

Today we welcome the Chelsea FNC to Madsen Reserve. Last week we ventured to Pines and came away with wins in all Footy & Netball games. Unfortunately the day started on a terrible note with the serious injury to Pines U19 player Kadel Key early in the 2nd quarter. Well done to the medical teams from both Clubs for their great work. The MEFNC wishes Kadel a speedy recovery. The Reserves trailed by a goal at 1/4 time but hit back with 5 goals to 2 in the 2nd term. We led by 20 at 3/4 time and ended up winning by 27. Nugget booted 3 and Stricko 2, with better players being Josh Curren, back from injury, Michael & Chris Cleary, Sam Howell, Ben Whitfort and Riley Thorpe. The Seniors took on top of the table Pines and got away to a great start with the only 3 goals of the first quarter. Pines hit back with 5 goals to 1 to take a narrow half time lead. In a tight 3rd quarter the lead changed a couple of times and we went into the last 3 points up. We dominated the first half of the last with 5 goals before late Pines goals reduced the final margin to 8 points. Jim Anwyl was great all day and other better players were Dunney (2), Gilly, Lomba, Barto & Lefty. A reminder to the Playing Group to finalise your Player Sponsors asap – There are still a few outstanding. Social: Annual Ball - Saturday 1st July @ Mornington Racecourse & $10K Draw - Sunday 9th July. Sponsor of the Week: Ritchie Bros. Industrial Auctioneers – 0403 247 440 – Thanks to Tim Shaw & his business for their ongoing support. Good luck to all sides today. Hosted Mornington at home last week , 3 good games of Footy and unfortunately still not the result we wanted. The 19’s started slowly but fought the game out really well. These boys turn up every week and their attitude is first class. On most weeks 3 or 4 playing in the Seniors which makes it hard but all good for the future. Solid performers last week were Balfe, Baum, Long and King. The seconds was a cracking game , our blokes tried to win it, then tried to loose it and escaped with a Draw, slowly getting some players back and definately more wins on the way. Big Stu again really good and well supported by Matt Mitchell, Brodie with Daniel Aarsman finally back and firing. Also really good to see both Wiz and Tommy Stephens back in the hoops. While the Seniors played some of their best footy for the year in the First half this result was a really bitter pill to swallow, a very winnable game and we let it slip. As the Coach said after the game this was a massive opportunity for us to make a stand in this Comp. Trewy, Curtis, Aaron and Brain all solid and no doubt there is some talent emerging, please Lad’s , get to training and stick to the task at hand, we can turn it around sooner than later. Don’t forget the upcoming functions and get your tickets for the $5000 Draw ! Also this Sunday, please get to the Heights and show your support for Cal Dobson who is battling Cancer. All our thoughts are with you mate !! See you at the Gullery !!

Today we welcome Seaford to Frankston Park and also our Past Players and Club 44 members for their annual function. The womens team hosts Pearcedale at Ballam Park this morning at 10.30 Last week was mixed results again - the netballers were unbeaten inside and the Unders had a good win, while the Ressies fought it out hard but fell short and the seniors were well beaten. Down at Tyabb the women’s seniors started well but couldn’t match it against a strong team for 4 quarters Lots of positive signs from the season though and Sharpy has played a number of U19 players who will benefit from the senior experience Our Major Raffle is off and running again - this season with fantastic odds with a maximum only 500 tickets in the draw - see any committee member today, at training or you can also buy online via the club website karingalfc.com Big thanks for your support to our 2017 Major Partners - Frankston RSL, RAMS, BMK, Pizza Fellas, Mornington Race Club, Decking Out Melbourne, Thompson Lucas Commercial, Bluegum, Sports Injury Clinic, Wignall Ford and CrownBet If you’ve been up to the club lately you will have noticed that we have walls being built - the new rooms are ahead of schedule and now we’re turning our focus to fitting them out - watch this space for details of our Foundation Support packages Mid Season ball is coming up soon - July 8th @ Frankston RSL #RedWhiteBOOM Karingal is the Community Club of Choice #leaders

Club Notes

A big thank you to our Netball Department, Sally Mitchell & the Clubs new fav MC, Ashlea Foot for last nights trivia night. I’m sure fun was had by all in attendance. Back to recap on last week Such a disappointing display by our senior side in what was such a special occasion for one of our fav sons & the reunions in attendance. Hopefully they can make amends today and recapture some form. It was pleasing to see the contribution from our younger brigade though. They can hold their heads high, especially Dilbert Howlett in his 1st senior game for the season and 2nd or 3rd overall. Another solid 4 qtr effort from Billy’s boys in the Magoos. The margin probably could have even been bigger if it weren’t for a few brain fades but still a pleasing result and have room for more improvement. Thankfully majority of the 19s attend the one school so we have no more clashes with school formals before a match. Considering it seems most boys were playing with a lack of sleep they could take a lot of positives out of the game. OFF FIELD NEWS Can I use this opportunity to strongly reject the claims of the AFL Sth East review that we supported divisional structure with the old Casey Card Clubs. The only 2 options put forward from the AFL Sth East will be ignored. What we actually asked for was involves MPNFL divisional structure, a strong focus on our Netball development & strongly requested reconsideration of the current U17 & U19 structure. Go Tiges!

Netball Preview Peninsula Netball Preview –

Mornington V Pines

Round 10 2017

Mornington enjoyed a rest last week while Pines lost to Mt Eliza by a respectable 14 goals. This week the Pythons head to Mornington to take on the Doggies. Mornington sit in 4th position on the ladder while Pines are 9th. This game should be won by the Mt Eliza girls however Pines will be hoping to remain competitive.

Frankston YCW V Edi Asp Last week the Stonekittens lost to Seaford by 5 goals ensuring their ladder position remains quite low in seventh. A position they are not used to. They face another tough task today coming up against reigning premiers at Jubilee Park. Edi Asp have only dropped the one game for the season and last week they beat Langwarrin at Lloyd Park. This is another game they should win convincingly.

Langwarrin V Bonbeach Langwarrin welcome the Sharks to Lloyd Park this week. Last week both teams lost to last year’s grand finallists – tough games for anyone! This week they will both be chasing a win. Langwarrin are sitting 6th on the ladder while Bonbeach are 8th.

28

Mt Eliza V Chelsea Mt Eliza beat the Pythons last week by 14 goals and get a well earned rest this week while the rest of the Redlegs ladies play the Seagals at home.

Karingal V Seaford Karingal welcome the Tigers to the Bullpit today in what will be 1st V 3rd on the ladder! A match that should go down to the wire and be extremely competitive. Last week the Bulls welcomed back Collingwood listed Sam Gooden after her Suncorp Super Netball commitments were complete. No doubt a welcome inclusion! Last time they met – the win went to Karingal by 18 goals.

Netball Notes Mornington Bulldogs

B Grade squad had a titanic struggle against Chelsea with the lead changing with each major break. Katey Rudolph and Charli Brown were outstanding in the goal ring remaining calm and shooting confidently despite some heavy defensive pressure. Chris Anthony was feeding the goalers freely and Monica Watkins came up with some timely intercepts through the mid-court. The final term basically saw the teams trading goal for goal ending up with a draw as neither team could get the ascendancy. C grade had a close game but were losing players left right and centre to injury and illness, Leaving some of the B grade girls to also come and help. It just wasn’t their day & they went down by 2 goals. I have no doubt this loss will be made up today at home. D grade show cased another display of hard work and passion for netball and each other coming away with another win. They are a well bonded team which shows in games. They won 38-18 & should come away with another convincing win this week at home. Ladies Day coming up on 8th July from 12pm to 4pm Christmas in July $50pp includes 3 course & drink on arrival Live Music, raffles, Games & lots of fun Go Doggies WOOF WOOF

Karingal Bullettes Last we were in sunny Bonbeach taking on the Sharks. We came away with four excellent wins. A great day of netball! D grade started off in most probably their poorest form of the season. Sinking a mere 6 goals by half time. Some positional changes were made and the girls came away with a win. Laura Mac injected speed into the mid court. We wish Chantelle good luck on her trip to Europe! C grade also started off sluggish, going into quarter time with a minimal lead. Goals were set and the team exceeded them. Moving Steph into WA was a game changer and the girls won convincingly by 36 goals. B grade has had a great start to season 2017 dropping just one game. This week they cruised to a 53 goal win. Nadine and Emily adjusted to a higher goal ring in exception fashion. Mel Cotta is literally just the most versatile player this club has seen. A true athlete! A grade welcomed back Sammy Gooden. This week in Ben’s absence - Brad took the reigns. Thank you stepping in & doing a great job! The A grade girls remain undefeated - an excellent effort in this competition. Big thank you to Bolts and Mel - super trainers who keep us strapped up and in one piece each week! Don’t forget the mid year ball and Man O Man functions coming up. See Troy for tickets. #GOBULLS #REDWHITEBOOM

Last week saw us put on our annual Ladies Day with great success! Therefore our C grade and D grade played on Thursday night. D grade had a good start, however fell short in the second half of the game. Grace stood strong in defence and was a shining light in a very difficult game. C Grade didn’t have much luck either against an extremely quick and dynamic Mt Eliza team. After a very tough match our girls struggled to keep up, however finished out the match strongly and as a team. Congrats to Chelsie taking out best on with her wicked shooting! B Grade had the game of the round again this week. A very close match the entire way through, however ultimately going down by four goals. Carla dominant in the midcourt all game earned her best on this week. A Grade had another close match. They were up by a few goals going into the second half, however small turnovers ultimately lost them the game. Ashlee was strong in the GK position all game, earning her best on court this week! Looking forward to taking on Mornington this week and hopefully showing improvement from the first time we played them. Followed by our annual mid year ball that night!

Last week we played Langwarrin at Lloyd Park & it was great to play under sunny & clear blue skies! All players wore black arm bands in memory of Max Logan & Ben Jolley & we extend our deepest sympathies to both families. Thank you to the Langwarrin trainer who help our injured players - your assistance was greatly appreciated. This week the netball is once again at the same venue as the footy so it would be great to see the Eagles faithful make their way across to the Jubilee Park courts & cheer the girls on. The games against YC are always highly competitive. Good luck to all Eagles teams playing this weekend! Fly Eagles!!

It was always going to be a hard fight against Seaford and the girls stepped up to the challenge. Despite getting a lead heading into the 2nd quarter, the A grade girls were unable to maintain it and Seaford started to get a run on. Running with no bench the girls ran their hearts out and never gave up the fight, keeping it a 5 goal difference. BOC goes to Bri who had some amazing turnovers. The B grade girls had one of the closest and toughest games they have had in a while, with the fitness level definitely helping them to get over the line in the end. There was some big changes but the mark of a great team is the ability to adapt and work with it which the team did. Defensive pressure was great from Seaford and made us work much harder than usual which will be a focus at training. BOC goes to Katie for making her player work for every single ball with some beautiful shots in the ring! The C grade girls made hard work out of the game turning the ball over many times with Seaford making them pay for lack of vision, lack of options and a general lapse in concentration at times. C grade were up at every break through dogged determination and belief in each other to come away with the win. BOC goes to Laura for her tireless work through the centre. The D grade team had a great win flowing nicely as a team and really backing each other up. The defensive pressure down the court was great with arms up and more talk than usual. BOC goes to Nicky for her smart choices!

In round 9 we took on Pines, we played our C & D grade games on Thursday night which was a nice change. D grade came out firing with a dominant 1st quarter setting the scene for a great performance. The team really came together for a good win in which every player contributed positively. Olivia had a great game while Renae was dominant in WD, they took the win convincingly 52-17. C GRADE followed in the same fashion taking a 35 goal win (68-33). The goalers (Karen, Marcie & Tayla) could not put a foot wrong while the rest of the team was relentless in the way they attacked the ball, easily their best game for the season. Moving up to 2nd on the ladder this C grade team in producing the goods every week. B GRADE had a nice early start with a 9am game, we took a while to wake up on court also which meant the whole game was quite close & anyone’s to win. Abbey & Bec were on fire & Karen C got some great intercepts in WD. B grade need to challenge those teams above them in the top 4 now to have any chance of moving up the ladder. In a tight finish our girls got the 4 points winning 41-45. A GRADE were undermanned this week with a few key players out, but you never would have known. They put in a fantastic team effort & built over the 4 quarter to win by 14 (41-55). Ash & Jayde worked well in defence while Verona tore up the mid court. We take on Chelsea this week at home who cannot be underestimated. Our girls will need to put their foot down to win this one. GO MOUNTIES!!!

Round 9 seen us come up against a very strong outfit in Edi-Asp. With many injuries and players unavailable in all grades we knew it was going to be a massive task. All grades fought very hard and their was definitely many positives to take out of the weekend. Unfortunately we were unable to get a win on the day. D grade top of the table clash! Our girls were hit hard with ‘unavailable players’ but showed some great signs against the ladder leaders. C Grade were so close all day, definitely making the most of their opportunities when they counted. B grade again fought hard and played some really exciting netball at stages. A Grade, missing 3 of our starting 7 was never going to help, we stayed with the reining premiers for most of the day but fell short in the last quarter. We really look forward to playing against Edi-Asp next time and hopefully we can change the outcome of the day! We look forward to taking on Bonbeach in round 10 and hope to get our winning form back on track. Go Roos!

D grade had a hard day on court this week against a strong Mornington team. Unfortunately we had a slow start and Mornington ran away with a big lead and took the win. Our defence fought hard all day with Emily, Awatea and Georgia taking some amazing intercepts throughout the game. The C grade girls worked hard for a full four quarters this week and were well rewarded with a win. Hannah starred again in centre where she continually fought hard for every ball. Her efforts were rewarded with best on. B grade girls were pushed right to the very end in what was a super exciting match. The whole team worked hard all the way down the court. Lisa was a strong force and a cool head through the centre court. We’d like to give a shout out to our youngest Katja for just being a deadset legend and helping out the club whenever it’s needed. Kat won best club person of the day! We look forward to a tough test against a strong top 4 side in Mt Eliza this week.

Taking on our stonecat cousins was always going to be a challenge but us tiggies are not one to shy away from it. We kicked off the day with Leeannes versatility in d grade - she appeared everywhere from centre court to goals. What cant this woman do? Unfortunately not enough to get across the line. It was man down after man down in the c grade battle with amy and keish going down with injuries. All the best for a speedy recovery girls. Props to kellie for playing out both b & c grade games - absolutely killed it. Our undermanned b grade babes took on top of the table and boy did they rise to the challenge. Vera and sarah in defence was just a delight to watch. A grade had a great battle with YC with fill in coach meagan (is that even a thing?) guiding us to victory. 3 votes goes to sarah hosko for kitting up over queens birthday weekend and driving around the streets of karingal looking for a match scheduled 24th june. Another 3 votes nich for driving out to bunyip to take the field for the womens footy match only to realise we were taking on bunyip at home.
