8th July 2017 - Pink Round

This week is ‘Pink Round’ being one of our many themed rounds for the 2017 season, so make sure your club thinks pink, and get behind the day and help raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. We all have a mother, sister, grandmother, niece, friend that we know that has been affected, and this is our chance as a community to rally around one another and support this great cause.

Well done to the Somerville FNC and Frankston Bombers for the campaign put together for ‘It’s okay, not to be okay’ round. Seven AFL Victoria Region Commissions have representatives in the 2017 Energy Safe Under 19 squad, with AFL North East Border (eight), AFL South East (seven), AFL Barwon (three) and AFL Goulburn Murray (three) boasting the most representatives. Of the seven leagues represented in the final squad, Ovens & Murray FNL and Mornington Peninsula Nepean FL are the best represented with seven selections each, followed by Goulburn Valley League and Geelong FNL with three representatives. See below for 2017 Energy Safe Vic Country U19 squad: NAME Shaun Mannagh Jake Kelly Sean Downie Luke Smith Zachary Norris Nick Carlon Jackson McMahon William Robinson Jake Page Ned Nhill Matthew Lafontaine Brayden Coburn Brad Melville Jake Moorehead Luke Paynter Mitchell Diamond Hamish Coulton Daniel Sharrock Daniel Hughes Jack Blood Robert Turnbull Jackson McLachlan

Nineteen-year-old Shaun Mannagh (North Albury FNC) will lead the brightest young country football talent as captain, while Sean Downie (Rosebud FNC) has earned the role as vice-captain. The Energy Safe Vic Country Under 19 squad has recorded emphatic victories in its last three encounters against VAFA, the most recent being a 44-point win at Mernda Reserve last season. Held annually, the Under 19 Challenge Cup provides the next crop of community football greats with an opportunity to showcase their talents, in what has fast become one of the great traditional rivalries between the bush and the burbs. The Under 19 Challenge Cup will kick off at 11.15am at Frankston Oval before the highly-anticipated Brian Molony clash between WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country and VAFA at 2:15pm.

AFL Vic Country LOVE THE GAME ROUND A host of Victorian football leagues across the state will encourage fans to remember the passion, not the odds as part of the 2017 Love the Game Round next month. AFL Victoria, in partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is showing its support for the ‘Love the Game’ campaign through a number of initiatives, focused on helping reduce the exposure of our fans, officials and players to sports betting promotion. Held from July 8-9, the dedicated round will also assist participating community and state leagues to educate clubs on creating safe and healthy environments for members to understand the risks involved with the increased normalisation of gambling in the community. AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper said the ‘Love the Game’ Round will help remind football supporters what really matters. “AFL Victoria understands the importance of reducing harm from gambling and will encourage clubs to focus on the love of the game, not the odds, not just during the dedicated round but every round of the season,” Reaper said. “People need to be aware of their limits with gambling and the impact it can have on young people, particularly in a sporting club environment. “It’s time to get back to loving the game for what it is and take the focus off betting and we are confident that our ongoing partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation will help us achieve that.” Twenty Victorian leagues across the state are joining in the campaign, hosting a number of activations within their communities to counter the growing culture of gambling in sport. Craig Swift, Acting CEO of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, said they were working closely with over 270 clubs in Victoria at both the elite and local level to raise awareness about how gambling advertising is changing the way young people experience sport.

“We are delighted to be working with AFL Victoria to highlight the Love the Game Round to all football fans. “Between the internet and smartphone technology, you now have the means to gamble in your pocket anytime, day or night and sport is where most of the promotion is occurring. “Reducing harm from gambling is something that needs to happen on an individual, industry, sporting club and community level and the Love the Game Round is showing the leadership and commitment of AFL Victoria to encourage all football fans to love the game and not the odds,” he said. For a list of participating Love the Game Round leagues, please www.aflvic.com.au or for more information about the foundation’s Love the Game program visit www. lovethegame.vic.gov.au

Football Preview REDLEGS ON THE RISE By Simon McEvoy MT ELIZA has put its indifferent form behind it to rattle off three successive wins and shore up a top five spot. It’s been a good turnaround by the Redlegs, who gained an important confidence boost by beating Pines three weeks ago and have got on a roll since. Mt Eliza will get a good gauge on how it’s going when it faces FRANKSTON YCW. Back in Round 2, YCW beat Mt Eliza by 30 points with Bundy Barry and Byron Barry running hot. But the Redlegs have found form in recent weeks, with a variety of players fuelling the resurgence. Robbie Turnbull has been consistent, while ruckman Grant Goodall looks to have settled in nicely and Dan Gormley, James Freeman and Lachlan Young have been key figures lately. After receiving reality checks last week, BONBEACH and EDI-ASP go head to head today, determined to put their finals quests back on track. Bonny’s free-flowing, highscoring ways were shackled by Pines last week as the Sharks fell to the ladder-leading Pythons for the second time this season. But Bonbeach will benefit being back on home turf, where it’s won its past four games, and the Sharks have proven themselves against Edi-Asp; Bonny beating the Eagles by 23 points earlier in the season. Look for Darcy James, Tom Hogan and Trent Dennis-Lane to continue their strong form today. Edi-Asp missed a chance to jump into the five when it lost to Mt Eliza last week but the Eagles remain a good chance to play finals. They have a favourable run home and a win today would do wonders for their top five prospects. CHELSEA’S perseverance was rewarded with a strong win last week and now the Seagulls are looking to get on a roll. They host fourth-placed SEAFORD, and if Daly Shannon, James Brain, Grant Trew and co. can maintain their strong form then the Gulls could pull of an upset. Matthew Ponton, too, has been impressive of late. Seaford, though, will go into the game feeling good. The Tigers have won their past two games and thrashed Chelsea earlier in the season, registering their highest score of the season in the process. Matt Herbert has been playing exciting footy of late, along with Damien Rayson, John Haidon, Tom Shaw and Dean Williamson. LANGWARRIN showed plenty of spirit to push Seaford all the way last week, but the Kangaroos will need to bring that same effort, and some, against PINES.

The Pythons (9-2) continue to set the pace, with Aaron Edwards, Tim Bongetti, Luke Potts, Guys Hendry and co. performing week in, week out. With it being so tight at the top, percentage could prove important come August so Pines will be keen to maintain the pressure today and, if the chance presents, chalk up another big win. After losing to the top two sides Pines and Frankston YCW in the past two weeks, MORNINGTON gets an easier assignment today when it hosts ninth-placed KARINGAL at the kennel. The Bulldogs looked to be building into some decent form before bumping into the Pythons and Stonecats, and can set themselves for a strong finish to the season. Warwick Miller, Joel Miller, Emilio Bitters and Ryan Smith have been performing regularly and with Lachlan Susovich and James Turnbull emerging, the Dogs can add to their winning tally. Karingal has lost 10 in a row but the Bulls have shown a lot in the past two weeks, pushing Seaford and Chelsea. Callan Dixon has been super lately, while Luke Duhig looks ready to make a name for himself and Steve Mihevc played arguably his best game last week. Young Nathan Villella looks a good prospect.

Football Preview STONECATS A CHANCE IN THE RESERVES...

Tipsters

MT ELIZA’S unbeaten status goes on the line again when it hosts an in-form FRANKSTON YCW. The Stonecats (83) come into this in good form, with Lucas Lee, Brendan Marchmont, Owen Vine and Steve O’Donnell playing good footy. SEAFORD, with Bryce Lloyd, Josh Rhodes and Joey Halall in form, should be able to extend its 10-game winning streak when it goes to CHELSEA. LANGWARRIN (3-8) will look to upset fifth-placed PINES (6-5), but the Kangaroos will have to jump out of a threegame losing streak. On a four-game tear, BONBEACH (7-5) has climbed to fourth. The Sharks will look to turn the tables on EDI-ASP (5-6) who need to win stay in finals contention. MORNINGTON has been struggling but will start favourite against winless KARINGAL. BULLS CHARGING IN THE UNDER 19s... There’s no stopping KARINGAL, the Bulls stringing together three wins to charge into fourth spot. Oliver Murray, Zach Holton and Cody Stewart-Fry are just some of many in-form Bulls. They face MORNINGTON which is enjoying its own hot streak. Ladder leaders FRANKSTON YCW have got the wobbles in recent weeks and now face its main threat MT ELIZA. An in-form LANGWARRIN (8-3) has cemented third spot, with Tom Branch, Max Watters, Zac Foot and Bayde Mate combining well. The Kangas face bottom side PINES. CHELSEA and SEAFORD have both been out of form and will look to kickstart their seasons. BONBEACH (3-8) tackles fifth-placed EDI-ASP (7-4).

Club Notes

The club travelled to Pines last week for 3 massive games. The Under 19s have shown this year that when a winnable match arrives they get the job done. Their third win this season one to remember and reward for effort again to Thommo and his team. The Reserves welcomed new recruit JP with a commanding victory. Donks was back to his vintage best as was Rooey and Eammon. Another big match against Edi Asp for Bully’s boys this week. In the main game an undermanned senior side fought hard in a finals like contest. Against an experienced Pines outfit the boys matched Pines in an enthralling first 3 quarters. A disappointing final quarter fadeout a concern yet provides something for the boys to work on. This Saturday is Ladies Day. We welcome all the ladies of our club for an afternoon of Live music, Wine and fun. Always great to see the girls come together relax and enjoy the footy. Tickets $25 at the door. The great Bonbeach events continue with a massive Bonbeach comedy gala 22nd July. 3 comedians, live music & finger food promises to be a fun night. For more information visit our facebook page. Club Notes Big day for the Club last Saturday given the opportunity to play at Frankston Park, thanks to those who made the trip and happy to say we didn’t let you down. As I said to most of our new recruits, it is Footy Heaven down there. The Unders went down but again put in a really spirited effort, credit to the lad’s because we are undermanned. Great work Baum’y, Silv,Macca, Long’y & Matt Knowles, carn’t stress enough the contribution this whole Group are making to the Club this season. Stevie G’s boy’s turned up, slowly getting some back and delivered a good win, Corey Peele slotted 4 on return and hopefully more to come, great support from Aarzie, Jordy Attwel, Lewie, Gard’s and the allrounder Nana, shades of 2006. The Main Event was to say the least a really crunch game for us and besides the 10 minutes they took off at the end of the 2nd Qtr a really sound effort, boy was the Coach up and about for this one !! The Half Time spray was one of the better ones, to say the least./ A credit to Brett and all the Boy’s as they responded, They all brought in and got the result, 22 good performers on the day and that really matters.. Headquarters this week V Seaford ( be there ) Well done and special thanks to the Ladies and all who attended the Ball last Saturday !! $5000 Draw this Sunday !! See you at the Gullery..

Club Notes Firstly, my apologies for any extra ordinary spelling/ grammar mistakes in this weeks notes as it’s 9:11am on Tuesday and I have 19mins to submit some quality scribes... Wish me luck! Wasn’t it great to see some quality faces returning to the footy field last week for the first time through the Magoos. Darragh Chadwick - played his 1st game for 2017 after graduating to join the MFB. Well done Daz. Lockie Heller - Also returned for his 1st hit out since 2015 and certainly made his presence felt. Matty Andrews - Wasn’t it great to see not only Matty return to the field after his horrific leg injury against Edi last year but see the joy on his teammates when he snagged his first goal. Perseverance and hard work paid off. Talking about debuts, congrats to Kaitilyn Carew who made her debut in the Rettes VFL side against the top of the table, Melb Uni. Missing 5 AFLW players, the young Rettes side put a mighty fight against a team of at least 12 AFLW players. Update on AFL Sth East submission Pleasing to see the AFL Sth East board has extended the deadline and options of feedback. No longer do JUST the 2 options are up for offer. Each club can now submit their own individual club preferences moving forward. Time will tell how much consideration that is given though. Special thank you to Frankston Strike Bowling for their sponsorship awards that will cover all our 11sides. Make sure you get down and support those who support us! Bang 9:29am

Club Notes

A big welcome this week to Pines players and supporters. Last week up against seaford we had a good win against solid opposition in the Under 19’s. Best players included T. Branch, Z. Foot, B. Mate, M. Watters, E. Watts, B. Smith Our two’s, depleted somewhat by key players being elevated to the seniors, didnt fare too well. Our seniors played out of their skins to go down by only 9 points. Given the amount of injuries to key players the seniors game was particularly pleasing. Aaron Marks and several of the Under 19’s displayed the type of form that shows that our future will be bright. Everyone just doing their job seemed to be the theme of the game that really worked for us on the day. Club Notes

A great day at the club last Saturday with local Pines lad Damien Fleming entertaining the guests at the luncheon. This was followed by an entertaining game of football in brilliant conditions which saw our seniors get the points with a strong finish. The reserves were outplayed all game and will need to correct a few things if they are to concern the finals teams. Not beyond them, but it has to start this week. The under 19s were unlucky to not be in front at the siren, having twice gone down to the young Beachers side by less than a goal. Some great talent showing through with promise of what’s to come. This week we play Langwarrin at their ground where we have been troubled in recent years. Let’s make sure we get there in numbers as there are a few milestone games of late, beginning with Jake Berry, who gained life membership. Chris Guganovic is due to play his 200th should he saddle up this week. John Hughes has quietly slipped over the 100 hurdle, and Aaron Edwards played his 50th against Mornington, followed by Luke Potts last week against Bonbeach. Thank you to all the sponsors that have responded and shown interest in the club this year. With the count down on to the finals we will spend the last 7 games showcasing out great sponsors. If you’re a member, and/or a sponsor keep an eye out for this feature in the email. To subscribe please see Dunny or Jeff.

Today we welcome Karingal to the Kennel plus all our lovely ladies who will be enjoying upstairs for Ladies Day. Thank you to the Karingal Netballers for playing on Thursday night so our girls could go to the day. Last week it was the coldest morning ever and with the frost it made for slippery conditions early in the pups game against ladder leader YCW. After quarter time we all started to thaw out and the pups heated up and played awesome footy for the rest of the game and came away with the victory beating YCW by 19 points to stay within reach of top 5. In the Ressies with 2 players going up to the Seniors on the day plus others pulling out it was always going to be a uphill battle but the boys never give up and always play the game out. They will be looking to have a more closer game against Karingal today. In the Seniors with Youngy & Macca pulling out on the day we were down on height from the start with Browny & Goosey stepping up on the day. We were competitive for the first half one only down by 5 point at half time and we thought we were in with a chance but then we do what we do, switch off, and YCW do what they do, switch on, and it was a blow out in the 2nd half & we went down by 64. James Turnbull & Brett McCleary both played their 1st Senior game and we continue to play the young boys who will be the future of our club. Good Luck to all teams today Go Doggies WOOF WOOF Social Dates coming up 15th July - Mid Year Ball (Cruise) 22nd July - Comedy Night

Not a bad week last week but a couple of results going the other way would have been nice..... The Unders had a good win which continues to set them up for later in the year, injury is the biggest concern at present but the boys keep working hard and getting the points. The Reserves looked good on paper but were found out for their fitness and will be disappointed to miss an opportunity. The senior game featured a very young team experience at this level will be invaluable in the years to come but again it was a case of letting an opportunity slip that was there for the taking The senior women fell agonisingly short after fighting to hit the front and today face the ladder leaders at home Big thanks for your support to our 2017 Major Partners - Frankston RSL, RAMS, BMK, Pizza Fellas, Mornington Race Club, Decking Out Melbourne, Thompson Lucas Commercial, Bluegum, Sports Injury Clinic, Wignall Ford and CrownBet After we bank the 4 points against Mornington today it’s back to Frankston RSL for our mid-year ball - always a fantastic night and this year promises to be the same Keep up to date with all Bulls news via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and our web site #RedWhiteBOOM Karingal is the Community Club of Choice

Today we welcome the YCW FNC for what promises to be 3 great contests. Last week the boys recorded wins in all games. The Under 19’s led by 4 goals at 1/2 time, kicking the only goals of the half, then another 4 goals to 2 in the 3rd. Edi kicked the last 3 goals of the game to reduce the final margin to 32 points. Smally & Jack Knox kicked a couple each, with better players being Aiden Smith, Fin Bayne, Cal Rice, Beau Galley & Nat Turner. The Reserves led by 3 goals at 1/2 time and extended the margin to 25 at 3/4 time. They booted late goals but we got home by 11. Nick McKinnon was lively with 3 goals and best players were Nath Ryan, Matty Pascazio, Tim Strickland, Thorpey and Jon Ristrom. The Seniors started well kicking 5 goals to 1 in the opening term and both teams kicked 2 in the 2nd as we held a 4 goal 1/2 time lead. 5 goals to 4 in the 3rd and 5 goals to 3 in the last saw the boys get home by 47. The Freeman boys booted 7 between them and Gorms 4. Other better players were Goodall, Turnbull and Lachie Young. Congrats to Robbie Turnbull who has been named in the Vic Country U/19 Team playing today. Social: Thanks to those that attended another successful Ball at the Racecourse last Saturday night. Tomorrow we have the $10K Draw from midday. Off to Emil Madsen Oval today for three crunch clashes against the Mounties as the jostle for the final five standings gets serious In front of a boisterous 1997 Reunion crowd we hosted the Mornington Doggies last week. The Unders somehow cobbled together a side, were in the game at 3/4 time but got over run in the last quarter. Bailey Williams was best aided by Mac Hura, Dylan Preston and Pat Johnstone. The Mighty Magoos continued on their winning ways with a nice victory. The game was set up in the first term and they then increased the margin at each break. “Son of” Marchy was great, Viney and SOD were busy whilst Chas and Cappy booted three goals each. The Numeros started well enough then let the Doggies back in the 2nd quarter. After 1/2 time Ash started to get on top, Scooter, Kyle and Bysa got heir hands on the footy often whilst Laffa, Streety and Josh Butts (4 goals) ran hard. Margin was 10 goals but it was a hard fought victory The Stonekittens won three and drew the other Read their notes Next Saturday we are off to the RSL for the Candyland Gala Ball (dress is Colourful Cocktail) - tickets from Katie, Coey, Bussa and Maxine. The Collopy Club lunch is on July 29 (Karingal game) and the guest speaker is Hawthorn great Gary Buckenara. Pink’s Never Been So Sexy... Once a colour associated with femininity, pink now identifies with the heart wrenching struggles of breast cancer. It’s never been such a manly colour. Just a couple of decades ago the sight of a man in pink would’ve sparked national outrage. How times have changed… It’s a colour that represents caring, compassion and love. It stands for unconditional love and understanding and associated with the giving and receiving of care. This “soft” colour is now donned by rough and tough men all over the country in a united stand to fight for those we love. Those who’ve nurtured and guided us into the people we are today. 1 in 8. A daunting stat. That’s the number of women who develop breast cancer in their lifetime in Australia. That’s a mother, a sister, a grandmother, an aunt, a wife, a girlfriend, a daughter a niece or a friend. That’s more than 8 women just there. Many people will have seen the pain that breast cancer causes; the heartbreak for everyone involved. But women are fighters. The colour pink’s made up of a combination of red and white. Both colours and shades with appropriate characteristics. Red resembles the lust for action, the tough fight. And the white, the opportunity to succeed and learn. And that’s what we can do. Men, women, everyone. We can stand up and fight. And learn. And try everything we can to succeed. Sometimes the simplest of gestures can be the most powerful. The sight of hardened football bodies crashing and bashing in pink socks or a pink strip knowing that there’s something bigger out there that means more. And that’s exactly what footballers and umpires around the league will be doing this weekend…Raising awareness and their little bit to make a difference. So just remember…Pink is sexy on anyone. But never more so than now…

Get Involved SUA are always on the lookout for those crazy individuals who want to become umpires. It takes a certain type of person to want to umpire, but those people who take the brave step, often benefit greatly from all umpiring offers. Langwarrin V Pines

Round 12 2017

Langwarrin narrowly lost last Saturday to Seaford while Pines secured a big win over the Sharks.

Mornington V Karingal Last week Karingal had a rest while Mornington snatched a win over Frankston YCW. This week will be a great game at Mornington with undefeated Karingal taking on fourth placed Mornington.

Mt Eliza V Frankston YCW Last week Mt Eliza defeated the reigning premiers and are now sitting in equal fourth position on the ladder. A win this week and other games results going their way might see them sneak into the four. Frankston YCW have found some recent form and should put up a good contest!

Bonbeach V Edi Asp Bonbeach took a heavy loss last week against Pines while Edi Asp also lost to Mt Eliza. The Eagles take on neighbours Bonbeach this week at Shark Park and should make their way back onto the winners list. Currently they have still retained second position on the ladder.

Chelsea V Seaford This week the Tigers ladies enjoy a bye while their B, C & D grade sides travel to Rowans Road to take on the Seagals.

Netball Notes Frankston YCW StoneKittens

The week the A girls came out of the blocks firing against Mornington, playing a fantastic first half and heading into the 3rd quarter with a slight lead. Unfortunately we were unable to capitalise on turnovers and made some silly mistakes which resulted in a 4 goal loss. BOC goes to Lyshae for her defensive pressure within the circle. The B grade girls also came out firing in the first quarter! The ball flowed down the court with ease and our defensive game was strong. We changed it up every quarter with the wheels falling off slightly in the third but for the most part we adjusted to the new combos and continued dominating the play to secure a comfortable 30 goal win. BOC goes to Janno with some great movement, driving and feeding into the ring. C girls did a great job considering we had a couple of sickies and were trying a couple of different combos. It was a topsy turvy game but the girls kept their heads up even thought things weren’t going as well as they would have liked! The last quarter was fantastic and we fought back to result in a draw. BOC goes to Tyler for an amazing effort with countless intercepts! A nice solid win for the D grade girls which will result in them being back in the top 4 of the ladder. Our early leads are still our biggest downfall and we continue to play too close to the sideline, but overall they girls build each other up and have so much belief in their ability to keep wining. BOC goes to Nicky for her perseverance and intercepts!

Mt Eliza Red Legs

This week we made our way to frosty Dingley to play Ediasp. It’s always a tough task taking on the Eagles, more so on their home turf. D GRADE had some nice passages of play, however the Eagles are a strong outfit & were difficult to stop. Jordyn & Brianna did well in goals, while it was good to see Sam back on the court also. Lots more work to do for the team to have the best chance of finals. Final score 43-21 in favour of the Eagles. C GRADE were depleted on players this week, however we managed to get a team on court & they worked super hard to only lose by 3 goals. Katelyn debuted in goals & did a great job teaming with Marcie well. Tiarne & Ash were unstoppable in defence & contributed positively, just a small loss (26-23). B GRADE had a tough game, missing a couple of players which was obvious in the attacking end. We fought hard, but just couldn’t get the jump on the Eagles, losing 41-25. Bec tried hard all game while Karen C has also great in the mid court. A GRADE were the only team fully manned this week with our usual line up & it showed. They played a fantastic game & had the edge over the Eagles from the first whistle. Kelly & Ash teamed beautiful in defence while Steph & Bridget are starting to connect well in goals. Verona, Kierra & Ellie all dominated their opponent in the mid court which was pleasing. A strong & admirable win from a team that is building each week (45-34). Next week is another tough week taking on YCW at home. Go Mounties!!!

Chelsea Seagulls

Round 11 saw us match up against a strong Karingal outfit. D grade girls had a tough loss. We came out fighting however Karingal quickly ran away with it and were just too strong. A big shout out to Georgia and Emily in defence who kept fighting the whole game and never gave up. C Grade went to battle with the skilled Karingal and all of the girls worked hard. We welcomed back Lexie to the side, who has been working really hard to get back on the court in C grade! It paid off with her goal percentage demonstrating the work! Lauren played a great game showing her strength and skills across the entire court. Lauren is such a valuable player and earnt a best on performance! B Grade fought hard against the top side Karingal. The whole team played well during the day and showed their potential winning the third quarter against the top side! Zoe played a fantastic game in defence on a tall goaler, never giving up and taking some great intercepts and deflections! Zoe has shown such growth in her netball ability and we are loving her defensive style! We look forward to a competitive home game against Seaford next week in Round 12.

Langwarrin Kangaroos Last week the Roos travelled to Linen House to take on the Tigers in what was some ‘must win netball’ to keep their finals chances alive! D Grade were nothing but exceptional in a four quarter performance that saw them secure a 38 goal win over Seaford. These girls continue to give it their all each week, and with a mixture of impressive combinations, they really are a team to beat. After their captain finally won a coin toss (yes, it’s been a while), the C girls were ready to do their usual best – have fun, laugh at each other and get another win to add to their season. As the season has progressed, this team have upped the intensity and are playing some of their best netball to date. B Grade came up against a tough Seaford outfit last week, requiring them to keep composed when they had possession and apply a whole court defence to gain possession. The encouragement on and off the court was amazing, leading the girls to a 2 goal win. Our A Girls were prepared to come up against an in form Seaford, implementing a strong defensive pressure throughout the entire game - with no ball being passed to the opposition without being contested by a Roo too (and yes, lots of them saw more of the ground than they hoped for). This week we congratulate Leah McCartney on her 50th game in the blue and white as we try to take 4 wins against the Pythons at home. *Please Note: No photos are to be taken of this legend as we have come to realise she isn’t very photogenic when playing!

The 100 Club Round 12 v Bonbeach Over the last few weeks the race has been on to see who would be the next Eagle to join the ‘100 Club’ & we’re proud to announce that Wendy has sprinted across the line! An original who joined Edi Asp in 2010 (our first season in the Nepean League) Wendy has gathered an impressive list of accolades as an Eagle. Four times Premiership Player, Club Captain, Dual Premiership Coach & club award winner, with the most notable award being the Kenny Lyons Award. Congratulations Wendo! It’s good to know that you plan to be around for another hundred games so that you can play with Ashton! Last week we played Mt Eliza & it was a day of first rate netball & once again we came away with three wins from four games. It was great to see our players step up to cover our injuries across all grades as it was potentially a very dangerous weekend for all teams. Don’t forget our Silent Disco is on tonight at Regents Park! This will be a fantastic night & we thank Em Pat for all her work in setting the theme & rallying the girls! This week we’re happy to be indoors after the freezing conditions last week & we look forward to four competitive games against the Bonnie girls. Good luck to the boys as they play a tough local rival! Soar Eagles!!

Absolutely fantastic week down at the Snakepit last week! Each team went into their games against Bonbeach extremely confident in their ability to take the win! D Grade started off in the freezing cold and took a bit to warm up. But in the last quarter they were relentless in defence and smooth in attack to grab their second win of the season! Although C Grade ultimately went down by three goals they were ecstatic with their game and the huge improvement shown last time they played Bonbeach. B Grade were extremely strong all game in both attack and defence! It was a whole team effort throughout the entire game and their team spirit was ultimately what got them over the line. A Grade finally got a win on the board!! It has taken them half a season but the combinations and set plays looked beautiful all the way down the court. The girls were strong on all areas of the court and combination changes didn’t seem to effect their strength on the court at all. This week sees us take on Langwarrin, another club that we would love to redeem ourselves from, since our last meeting! Go Pythons!!

Seaford Tigers Round 11 - Tiges v Langy What a tough day at the office it was for our girls. Langy are always a physicabattle and Saturday was no different. Riddled with injury our teams took the court with possibly more fill ins than regulars.. big thanks to all those fill ins who were able to help us out. Special mention goes to Nat who filled in for not only C grade but B grade as well and killed it with her one on one defence! Unfortunately D, C and B grade took home the silvers. All teams showed great showed great improvement from last time we met the Kangas and were able to decrease the margin. Well done to Sarah in B grade who had been on her death bed all week but still managed to play like an absolute super star and to our AA goaling combo who are have found their rhythm! A grade had arguably one of the most competitive matches of the season and managed to come out on top! Watching on the side you could of thought it was a footy match, our footy/netball superstar Nichy took the hits like an absolute champ and still managed to slot goal after goal. A massive team effort in defence saw crucial turn overs in the second quarter to have an 11 goal turn around and hold us in the lead for the remainder of the game. Well done girls! This week we take on the gulls before we scull a few drinks at the ball. Bit thanks to all the efforts in organising the night oh and to tan who chose the Gatsby theme around her wardrobe; so at least one of us will have something to wear haha!

Eddos been in the outback riding kanga’s for transport and chasing crocs *to be read to the tune of Without Me by Eminem* Two shark park girls go ‘round the outside, ‘round the outside, ‘round the outside Two shark park girls go ‘round the outside, ‘round the outside, ‘round the outside Guess what’s back, back again, Bonny notes are back, tell a friend Notes are back,Notes are back,Notes are back,Notes are back... The ball created a monster, ‘cause nobody wants to see pale legged girls, they want fake tan, but we’re playing earlier Well if you want tan, this is what netty will give ya, A bad sock line, streaks and heels ain’t so fine Lowey’ll kick start the dancing quicker than Joey when he’s working it at the club and Kathleen and him are co-operating, The girls are rocking the tables, the boys can’t stop staring, hey! Paul waited two weeks, there’s no debating, But the notes are back this week and will be staying! I know that you had a party Ms Serena but would an invite to your netty girls be that complicating? So the MPNL won’t let us be, they wanna cause a little travesty, they’re tryin’ join leagues so casually, but I feel so empty driving to Portsea Now Edi-asp looks like a job for T, Don’t stress guys we’ve got Emma D, Coz we need a little height you see, Coz we’re a bit short down at Bonny Now Edi-asp lost laslost last week you see, Who’ll beat them next, could it be me Following Lou’s steps like 1,2,3 We’re getting pretty good down at Bonny #weout #finsup

On Thursday night we played Karingal, so a big thank you to Karingal for playing so we could have our ladies day. Last week A grade side were sluggish to start and did everything they could to make an uphill battle of this match. Sarah made a huge impact when she came on in the 2nd term moving freely and goaling accurately. By the main break the girls had managed to peg back the deficit slightly but it was the third term when they really stepped things up a notch. Candace was relentless in defence with Jess making it difficult for the YCW girls to penetrate into the goal ring. The girls managed to sneak ahead and come away with a 4 goal win. B grade girls were always going to be up against the odds this round not only playing against top of the table YCW but to do so without 4 key players. Dee Wilks has been a welcome inclusion into this side due to injuries and really stood up this week in the mid-court. Laura Noonan was also on fire picking off countless intercepts and being hard at the ball through the defensive end. Eliza Tatham and Sophie Baker worked tirelessly in defence against some of the best goalers in B grade with Sophie being awarded BOC. With players away and injuries to boot C Grade battled all day and it end in a draw with both sides giving their all. D Grade played a hard game and couldn’t come home with a win against a strong YCW team. Go Doggies Woof Woof

Karingal Bullettes Three from three last week at the Bullpit! D grade started the day off with a fantastic win over Chelsea. Laura Mac was best on with a phenomenal performance in centre. C grade started off goal for goal with the Seagals but broke away, doubling our winning margin from the last time we met! Captain receiving best on with her defensive effort. Ably assisted by Elise & Mel. B grade took a twenty goal win in a scrappy game. But a win is a win & we will take it! It was great to see the sea of blue ribbons / socks supporting “it’s ok not to be ok”. This Thursday night we take on Mornington away under lights! Good luck to all four teams! Hopefully we come away with four wins & celebrate at the mid year ball Saturday night! #GOBULLS #REDWHITEBOOM
