MPNFL Updates MPNFL Update Round 13 2017 Welcome to Round 13 of the 2017 home and away season for both Peninsula FNL and Nepean FNL. Well done to all the clubs last week who were able to assist with ‘Pink Round’ in raising awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation. We are now two-thirds of the way through the season and with finals just around the corner the competition is really starting to heat across both football and netball. In Nepean can Sorrento go all the way and make it a dream season with no losses, in Netball will Somerville be crowned the new champs, for Peninsula will either Pines or Bonbeach be able to knock Frankston YCW off their perch, and will Edi-Asp take the top award again in the A Grade.

Also, just a reminder that in 2017 the presentation night will be a combined night between both Nepean FNL and Peninsula FNL on Monday 4th September at the Mornington Racecourse. It will be a fantastic event and one not to be missed. Invitations to clubs and possible award winners will be sent out after the conclusion of the home and away season. Themed and feature rounds coming up; 29th July 2017 – Multicultural Round 26th Aug – Sept 17th 2017 - Nepean & Peninsula FNL Finals Series Best of luck to all sides for this weekend.

Stingrays “STINGRAYS SURVIVE A CANNONS SLOG” ROUND 12 MATCH REPORT The Dandenong Southern Stingrays have survived a gallant three quarter effort before kicking five unanswered goals in the last quarter to hold onto a 23-point victory at Rams Arena on Saturday morning. After leading all day, due in part to the Stingrays poor kicking at goal, the Cannons couldn’t hold on and were completely dominated in the last quarter, with final scores, 10.18 (78) to 8.7 (55). Dandenong lifted their intensity around the ground, with Lachlan McDonnell managing to get some run through the middle allowing deeper entries giving Alex Young his first goal gifting the Stingrays the lead, which were followed by four others in 9 minutes. Both teams were keen to get physical early, with a great contest and testing the depth of their list with 26 seventeen year olds getting their chance to taste TAC Cup football.

“We knew that Calder were going to challenge us, but luckily we adjusted to the tempo of the game and we were good enough to hold on.” Cox had a lot of praise to dish out for his men – particularly noteworthy were defender Will Hamill, collecting numerous disposals and five rebounds whilst key defender Jesse Davies and Angus Paterson, who stood tall in the face of an attacking Cannons forward line. Through the middle, Jai Taylor gave one of his best performances, never relenting in his hard-bodied attack on the footy, and ball magnets Mitch Cotter and Ali Zijai again shone. In attack, Jamie Plumridge took his chances and continued his streak of great performances across halfforward, while Alex Young’s pressure in and around the contests was a highlight for many. Calder started the game, kicking the first three goals of the game, before Riley Darcy kicked the one and only goal for the Stingrays in the first quarter. The ever-present winds made it difficult to hit targets however, and a couple of chances in front of goal went begging. Nonetheless, the Cannons motored to a comfortable 19-point lead at the first break, pleased with their efforts.

AFL Vic Country Vic Country vs VAFA The WorkSafe AFL Vic Country side has fallen short in the 2017 Brian Molony Cup against the VAFA after going down by 82 points at Frankston Oval on Saturday. The Vic Country side were unable to contain the extreme running ability of their metro rivals and were outclassed around the ball, leading to a comfortable 24.8 (152) to 10.10 (70) score line. Rochester Football Club’s Steven Stroobants finished with four goals for Vic Country while teammate Chris Moreland kicked two in what was a tough day at the office for the country side. Captain Jack Geary lead from the front all day while North Shore’s Jason Davenport was sensational in a best on ground performance for Vic Country but was overshadowed by a very challenging VAFA outfit. In his first game as head coach, Danny Frawley said he was proud of how his boys played but recognised that the VAFA side was better on the day. “You could see that the VAFA really came in with a plan and executed it perfectly,” he said. “Our guys had a dip but there is no way we can polish it up, they were far too good. “We’ve got two years to lick our wounds and do a fair bit of training but we’ll be back better and stronger than ever.” It was a different story for Vic Country in the Under 19 Challenge Cup with the Energy Safe Under 19 squad defeating VAFA by four points. In wet and greasy conditions at Frankston Oval, the very best young talent from country Victoria held off a fast finishing VAFA outfit in what was an outstanding display of skill and class from both sides. The final score: 9.13 (67) to 9.9 (63).

A goal from St. Joeseph’s Jackson McLachlan halfway through the last-term gave the Vic Country side a comfortable 29-point lead before an onslaught led by VAFA sharpshooter Alessandro Mastromanno brought his side back to almost pip the country side on the siren. Karingal’s Jake Kelly was extraordinary up forward, booting two while having an incredible presence in the forward half, while Shepparton’s Luke Smith popped up for two of his own to help starve off a gallant VAFA side. Vic Country captain Shaun Mannagh electrified the midfield in a best on ground performance while Shaun Downie, Matthew LaFontaine and Jack Blood were solid contributors for Vic Country’s fourth consecutive Under 19 Challenge Cup win. Football Preview EAGLES ON THE RISE By Simon McEvoy EDITHVALE-ASPENDALE returns to Regents Park with its season going from strength to strength. The Eagles are one of the form sides of the competition having won four of their past five games, including decisive wins over top-three sides Frankston YCW (by 28 points) and Bonbeach (34). If Edi-Asp can get past CHELSEA today they could find themselves sitting in the five tonight, and another finals campaign within touching distance. Chelsea, too, is on the rise. The Seagulls are chasing their third straight win after knocking off Karingal and Seaford. Edi-Asp’s strong form has been fuelled by the efforts of ruckman Chris Wylie, forward Mick Meehan, Brendan Neville, Mark Mullins and Bradley Tagg. Chelsea has plenty of men in good form, including the emerging forward Matt Ponton (6 goals last week), James Brain, Todd Gardiner, Daly Shannon, Dave Willett and Grant Trew. After a terrific first half of the season, BONBEACH finds itself under pressure going into its Round 13 clash with MT ELIZA. The Sharks have dropped their past two games as sides have turned up the heat. If Bonny are the flag threat many good judges believe they are, then they need to respond strongly today. But Mt Eliza won’t be easy. The Redlegs pushed Frankston YCW to the limit last week and have won three of their past four to show they’re serious about playing finals. This third versus fifth encounter promises to be a beauty, with both sides having plenty to play for. In-form Mt Eliza defender Jay Neratzoglou will have a big task trying to stop Bonny spearhead Trent Dennis-Lane, while Mounties star Justin Van Unen, after slotting six last week, is no certainty to play after appearing to injure himself last week. SEAFORD (8-4) will resume its chase for a top-three spot when it hosts MORNINGTON (4-8). The Tigers were flat after losing on the last kick of the day to Chelsea last week and can’t afford to drop another game to a side outside of the top five. Seaford has a tough run home, facing five of the top six sides, meaning a win today is vital. Mornington burst back to form last week, drilling a season-high 21 goals to thump Karingal by 80 points, and the Bulldogs could be a dangerous proposition for finalsbound sides in the run home. Jackson Calder slotted five goals last week and Pete McGettigan four, while Ryan Smith, Chris Baker and Mick Gay impressed.

It’s crunch time for KARINGAL and LANGWARRIN who meet in a crucial battle that could decide the wooden spoon. Karingal’s only win this season was over Langy, who are facing a winless season. Both sides have shown glimpses of form in recent weeks, suggesting a win was near. Karingal pushed Seaford and Chelsea in the past month, with Luke Duhig, Cal Dixon, Brad Occhipinti, Nathan Villella and Andy McInnes playing good footy. Langy have been competitive in most games and did get within nine points of fourth-placed Seaford a fortnight ago. With Nick Tuddenham, Michael Parker, Blake Peach, Blake Harkness and Mitch Cuthbert playing consistent footy, Langy can end their dry spell today. PINES host FRANKSTON YCW in a much anticipated topof-the-ladder clash at Eric Bell Reserve. Could this be a grand final dress rehearsal? Both sides have won 10 and only lost two games. The Pythons, with Aaron Edwards and co., could be the only thing standing in the way of a history making Stonecats four-peat. YCW beat Pines by 27 points in a low-scoring tussle back in April, when Edwards and Tim Bongetti were held to only one goal a piece. But winning games has become a habit for Paddy’s Pines who have spent a chunk of the season on top of the ladder and aren’t ready to surrender it. YCW, though, seem to always find a way to win. Experienced campaigners Christian Ongarello, Tony Lester, Byron Barry and Kev Lylak are often at the heart of YC’s surge, while Lachie Wallace, Jacob Cheverly and exciting forward Josh Butland are key players.

Football Preview SHARKS CHASE MOUNTIES IN THE RESERVES... BONBEACH has passed every test lately, and now the Sharks face the toughest test of all, undefeated MT ELIZA, today. Bonny has benefited from the slick form of Sam Rouette, Damien Chabas, Jayden Cole and co. Coming off a big win, MORNINGTON, with a red-hot Josh Hutchison firing off 8 goals last week, will look to take it up to second-placed SEAFORD. KARINGAL is searching for its first win when it meets LANGWARRIN, which is trying to snap a four-game losing streak. An untimely three game losing streak has taken the wind out of EDI-ASPâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sails, but the Eagles can put their finals quest back on track by beating CHELSEA. PINES, with Rhys Chalkley slotting seven majors last week, can leapfrog fourth-placed FRANKSTON YCW by winning. BULLS TARGET LANGY IN THE UNDER 19s... Fifth-placed KARINGAL will try to beat third-placed LANGWARRIN for the second time this season. But Langy are on a three-game tear, with Zac Foot, Josh Dormer and Harrison Potts playing slick footy. EDI-ASP, with Campbell Ak, Zach Barrett and Ben Ward in cracking form, should notch their ninth win today against CHELSEA. The top two teams MT ELIZA and FRANKSTON YCW should continue on their winning ways. SEAFORD and MORNINGTON are evenly matched and should have an entertaining battle.

Last week we returned home for 3 big matches against Edi Asp. The Under 19 boys fought hard all day but couldn’t get over a strong opposition. The reserves continue their resurgence with a fifth straight win. Against quality opposition the boys controlled the match. The usual suspects played well. An inform Donks and last quarter efforts from import Froggy proving the difference. Sitting in 3rd spot this Saturdays grand final rematch against ladder leader Mt Eliza shapes as a cracking contest. Good enough reason to arrive for the early match. Our Seniors are caught struggling for form with a second straight loss. Injuries and some form concerns the boys have a great opportunity to bounce back against a quality side week. A huge Ladies Day at home we thank all the girls who assisted and those that attended. It was a lovely afternoon and everyone enjoyed the chance to catch up. A special thanks to Sue and Glenda who was an enormous help with food. This Saturday we welcome our friends from BUPA aged care. Our Bonbeach and Edithvale residents will be joining us for lunch and maybe a shandy from midday. A mixed bag last Saturday at home v YCW with 2 wins from 3. The Under 19’s led narrowly at 1/4 time, dominated the 2nd quarter but inaccurate kicking for goal kept the margin to 17 points. In a battle of defences in the 3rd term no goals were scored, but the boys hit back well in the last, kicking 4.1 to 0.1 to win by 44 and grab top spot on the ladder. Better players were Max Rea, Smally, Jimmy Logan, Forrest, Hallpike & Jackson. Well done to Barto on his first win as Coach, filling in for Bratts who was on Vic Country Coaching duties. The Reserves led by 5 points at quarter time after trailing early on but kept YCW to no score in the 2nd, whilst booting 2.6 ourselves. An 8 goal to 1 2nd half saw a resounding 69 point win. Nugget and Cranny were dominant up forward with 5 goals apiece, with other standouts being Matt Pascazio, Nick Strickland, McIlroy & McKinnon. Thoughts are with Michael Cleary after he seriously hurt his knee the previous week. In a tough opening quarter the Seniors led narrowly and a 4 goal to 3 2nd term saw us lead by 3 points. YCW kicked the only goal of the 3rd to take the lead by 6 points at the final change. In another low scoring quarter we kicked the first to take the lead, but YCW hit back with the final couple of goals to win by 12 points. JV played a lone hand up forward with 6 and other better players were Jem, Neratz, Boota, Tenno & Harps. Social: Great arvo at the $10K Draw and congrats to the winners. Club Notes Hosted Seaford last week, followed by the $5000 Draw on Sunday, Huge thanks as a lot of people who made the effort to attend both days. Very happy to say the Footy Club had a good weekend. The 19’s battled hard again Sat going down to a good side, best players Balfe, Haslem, Long, Gray-Bice and Rizzi, keep punching lad’s . Stevie G’s boys a bit light on again but put in a big effort to go down in a tight game, thanks to the 19’s who helped out. Bourkey, Gard’s, Brodie, Mitchell and Peele were all good performers. In the main game we just turned up and played to instructions and got probably the best result for the Club in 5 years. Just a credit to Brett and the boy’s after Seaford put us to the sword in the Easter round, 15 goal turn around. Todd and his troops should all be very proud and hopefully a defining moment as we try and finish off a very solid season. Corey and Trippa great, Dessy really solid in the contests, Pont’s slotted 6 and Dave Willet wound the clock back for us with 4 majors also and Simmo you are just a Pro ! What a moment when everyones favorite the big number 12 managed to slot the match winner. Hearty congrats to Cas, You and Ollie with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl Lexi the day before. Let’s all make the effort and get down to Edi this Saturday to what should be a cracker of a game. See you at the Gullery !!

Back at Mornington today for the second week in a row and with high hopes that the results todayvare better than last week Massive thanks first up to Mornington FNC for the use of their ground & courts for our home games It wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t the best week last week, undermanned due to injury & illness in all 3 grades and it showed when it came to running the games out. Over in court was a different scenario as the Bullettes completed a clean sweep on Thursday night under lights - the girls are really flying this year, check out their notes elsewhere in this record. Our Senior Women hosted ladder leaders Bass Coast last week, also undermanned and while they were outclassed fought out a good game to the very end. This week they meet Red Hill looking to get back on the winners list and push for a finals berth. The Mid-Season Ball last week was a good night, thanks to Alyce for all her efforts in organising and Frankston RSL for having us! Last week saw us up against the Pines in front of a crowd that included many of our loyal local supporters and the occasional female super hero. As has been the case for most of the year the scoreboard highlight and win for the day occurred in the Under 19’s. The brand of footy that our young team continues to play is exciting and gets us the results that point towards an exciting future for the club. Coach Chris Stanley and his assistants , including Jason Watters continue to do well. Best players on the day included Z. Foot, J. Dormer, H. Potts, B. Mate, W. Davis, J. Ross. Special mention also to those that helped make up the Pines numbers. (If only we had the seniors Pines team being short on numbers too !.) The Reserves and seniors struggled up against strong Pines outfits. As always our endeavour and commitment were good but we just couldnt get a score on the board that would see us be truly challenging to the opposition. Good players in the two’s were A. Eggleston, J. Johnsen, E. Parsons, J. Bice, D. Riley.Special mention must go to Michael Parker and Hendo who both played milestone games for the club. Good players in the seniors included Siz , Tuddy , Mitch Cuthbert and Church. Lets hope that this week our commitment and effort can result in a win for the team. Better to experience the errors of enthusiasm than to be stifled by the indifference of wisdom. A big day coming up today for the club as we head towards our best membership listing since the heady eighties. Sponsors and members can avail themselves to the counter meal lunch while watching the reserves. Then a move onto the outside terrace to spur on the seniors in what should be a great contest. After the game come in and enjoy the live music with an evening toast to football/netball and the highs and lows that come with the games. A low to come out of last weeks game was the injury to Aaron Edwards which brings his 2017 playing to an end. The game then played out as a low scoring messy affair. A high included Dale Tedge getting back to his best with 5 goals and plenty of scrap. Guy Hendry is marking as well as he ever has and the back line continuing to provide a rock of Gibraltar-like impasse. The reserves got back on the winning list and have a very solid playing list from which to pick, pending availability. Probably strong enough to trouble those dang South Eastern reserves sides should that ever be required. The under 19s have talent that will be realised through their determination and resilience. With numbers to come through in the coming years persistence will be rewarded. The scoreboard last week was irrelevant to the process being undertaken. The club is proud of all the kids who play in this side. Go Pines.

First of all well done to our reps in the Vic Country v VAFA clash last week. Hutcho, Scooter, Laffa, Hughesy and Paynts - you did us proud. Today we head off to the Eric Bell Reserve for a top of the table clash with the Pines Pythons - things just don’t seem to get easier this year with all games throwing up challenges. Tonight we have the Ball at the Frankston RSL. Last week the Club had to call on it’s depth as we travelled to Mount Eliza with the Numeros fielding a youthful side. The game was in the balance at 3/4 time but the combo of wise heads (Ongars, Lachie W and Big Kev) combined with the exuberance of Josh Butts, Streety and Jack Matthews saw us have a memorable 2 goal victory. The Ressies battled manfully agin the ladder leaders but a poor 3rd quarter was costly. Captain Cowled continues to lead from the front, Chappy presented whilst Tyler Sigley and Viney were good. Once again the 19’s had to blood some newcomers. the Mounties inaccuracy kept us in the game until 3/4 time but we were outclassed in the last stanza. Bailey Williams continued his form backed up by Haydos, Luke Black and Mac Hura, The Stonekittens won three. Read their notes elsewhere. The Collopy Club lunch is on July 29 (Karingal) and the guest speaker is ex Hawthorn great Gary Buckenara. On August 19 (Chelsea game) we have the John Silvester (aka “Sly of the Underworld”) lunch where he’ll expand on matters Underbelly style. Cost includes a two course luncheon and a two hour drinks package.

Playing Karingal last week at home we were slow out of the blocks and it seemed to take us the entire first quarter to get on the same page. Trailing at the first break we went on a tear kicking 10 for the quarter and going to half time with a handy lead. The third quarter saw more of the same and we really controlled the game taking a 90 point lead into the last quarter. It was a pity we couldn’t finish off the game strongly but an 80 point victory was a good result for the work put in. Ryan Smith was sensational down back and with the big forwards in McGettigan, Calder and Whelan dominating the forward line. All up a good team display. In the Ressies after a couple of bad weeks the boys were up and about right from the first bounce,with a 6 goal first quarter & from then on the boys were never headed and played good footy for the whole game and finished up winning by 90 points. Trying to find best players was hard with everyone playing well and doing their bit but special mention to Hutcho who kicked 8. In the pups we always look forward to taking on Karingal and this season has been no different. Our opponents have been the form team in the comp which made this game an even more tantalising prospect. Typical of our contests over the past few years this one went down to the line with our boys prevailing in a hard fought last term. Pink’s Never Been So Sexy... Once a colour associated with femininity, pink now identifies with the heart wrenching struggles of breast cancer. It’s never been such a manly colour. Just a couple of decades ago the sight of a man in pink would’ve sparked national outrage. How times have changed… It’s a colour that represents caring, compassion and love. It stands for unconditional love and understanding and associated with the giving and receiving of care. This “soft” colour is now donned by rough and tough men all over the country in a united stand to fight for those we love. Those who’ve nurtured and guided us into the people we are today. 1 in 8. A daunting stat. That’s the number of women who develop breast cancer in their lifetime in Australia. That’s a mother, a sister, a grandmother, an aunt, a wife, a girlfriend, a daughter a niece or a friend. That’s more than 8 women just there. Many people will have seen the pain that breast cancer causes; the heartbreak for everyone involved. But women are fighters. The colour pink’s made up of a combination of red and white. Both colours and shades with appropriate characteristics. Red resembles the lust for action, the tough fight. And the white, the opportunity to succeed and learn. And that’s what we can do. Men, women, everyone. We can stand up and fight. And learn. And try everything we can to succeed. Sometimes the simplest of gestures can be the most powerful. The sight of hardened football bodies crashing and bashing in pink socks or a pink strip knowing that there’s something bigger out there that means more. And that’s exactly what footballers and umpires around the league will be doing this weekend…Raising awareness and their little bit to make a difference. So just remember…Pink is sexy on anyone. But never more so than now…

Round 13 2017

Karingal remain undefeated after beating Mornington last round and today welcome the Roos to the Bullpit. Langy have found form of late and are sitting 6th on the ladder. The Bulls have plenty of depth and will be hard to beat.

Bonbeach V Mt Eliza Last week Bonbeach met the Eagles, they lost but the margin was respectable. The Redlegs recorded another win by 3 goals over YC. Today’s game will be played at Shark Park and Bonbeach will be hoping to Mt Eliza are in the four and a win today will get them that much closer to finals. They sit a game ahead of Mornington currently and will be hoping to hold on to a top four position.

Pines this week meet the Stonekittens at home. They lost last weekend to Langwarrin by 13 goals. They currently sit 8th on the ladder but are no doubt enjoying the new home court. YC narrowly lost last week to Mt Eliza and will be hoping for a win over the Pythons today.

Seaford V Mornington

Edi Asp V Chelsea Edi Asp get the bye this weekend. They sit in second position on the ladder. Last week the Eagles disposed of Bonbeach by 14 goals. The top two ladder position is crucial come finals time and they are on equal match points with the Tigers. Ed Asp will be relying on other results this weekend.

Pines V Frankston YCW

Mornington came close last week to the Bulls, only going down by 9 goals. It was a game they could have potentially won. This week they take on Seaford at Linen House. Last week the Tiges had the bye and are sitting third on the ladder. With the form of last week – the Doggies will be hoping to get a win on the board and sneak back into the four.

Netball Notes Mornington Bulldogs

Last Thursday coming up against ladder leader is a tough ask at the best of times but it’s made that much harder with two players unavailable and two struggling with injuries. But the A grade girls persevered and started with an optimistic attitude which never wavered throughout the match. Sarah W had a standout match in goals, moving freely, presenting well and supporting Britt. Georgia played a blinder of a captains match, turning over more passes through the mid-court than any other game this season. Jess was superb driving out of defence providing solid, clear drives into attack. A 9 goal deficit is the closest any team has got to Karingal so far this season which is an awesome effort. Once again B grade were undermanned against a tough opposition this week in Karingal. The girls were valiant in their efforts with Katey playing out of position in defence and doing a sterling job. Her and Sophie battled throughout the whole game against their much bigger and stronger opposition. Laura was her best throughout the 3rd term running the centre well and supported by Dee Wilks who was impressive in the midcourt. In C Grade the defensive end worked tirelessly but we just couldn’t capitalise, missing too many goals, losing our confidence then our attack at the ball. Best on court goes to the entire defensive end. D Grade only went down by 3 goals. Again our defensive end work hard all game and we just could not capitalised to get the win. Chelsea Seagulls

It was a great day at home for the Chelsea D girls last week. We started off strong breaking Seaford’s centre pass, and were able to hold the lead for the whole game. Every single player on court did exactly what was asked of them and that is what helped us get the win. The girls should be so proud of their effort. Well done!! C Grade were excited to meet Seaford last weekend. The rough start made it really hard for the girls to fight back. We lacked height in the ring which created easy turnovers for Seaford. Lauren showed great leadership and fought right until the end, Megan really stepped up in defence also showing some great improvements. B Grade were nervous to face the up and coming Seaford side, well aware of their previous wins the girls were ready for a challenge. The first half really flowed with the depleted team proving their bond has strengthened. We know that Seaford never give up and fight back hard, so it was a tough fight right to the end! Well done to all girls on a lovely display of netball and a great win.

Frankston YCW StoneKittens

A Grade girls played with only 4 of the original 10 squad of girls, when we played Mt Eliza last week, and the additions certainly didn’t look out of place! The girls created so many turnovers though our defensive pressure and left nothing in the tank. Unfortunately we didn’t get the result we wanted but BOC goes to Ash who absolutely killed it! The B grade girls had a bit of an up and down game but managed to keep our noses in front and came out on top winning 51 to 33. We dropped the bundle in the 2nd quarter but the girls picked themselves back up and absolutely dominated the 3rd and 4th terms. BOC goes to Kirsty who was solid as a rock. Special mention to Holly and Laura who stepped up to B grade and played a massive part in the win! The C grade girls played an awesome game to come away with a 47 - 44 win. Our shooting percentage was high 80s with Holly shooting 100% accuracy. Thank you to Nikki and Grace who stepped up from D grade! BOC goes to Nikki who made the difference when it was needed most. D grade girls had a great battle with Mt Eliza really putting us under pressure. We had some injuries with our goalers early on but managed to somehow make some clean drives and space in the ring, BOC goes to Eve who consistently puts on amazing defensive pressure regardless of her position.

Langwarrin Kangaroos Round 12 saw us take on the Pythons at home in what we knew was going to be tough battle! We would also like to thank Pines FNC for adjusting playing times to accomodate our annual ladies day event. Kicking us off at 9am was D and B grade playing simultaneously. It was great to see our courts packed with players and spectators, enjoying the buzz of our great game. D grade took the points comfortably, racking up a huge percentage win. Goalers Lisa and Jess were in fine form, rarely missing their shots and assisting in full court defence that ultimately proved too strong for Pines. B grade saw a different battle. Our B girls welcomed young gun Tylah to their team, and although they fought extremely hard they were unable to come away with the win, eventually going down by 10 goals. Next up C and A grade battled it out. C grade were applauding their captains 50th game as a Roo, and were determined to score the four points for her. Captain Leah played an amazing 50th game, scoring 44 goals and leading her team to an exciting 34 point win. A grade got off to great start and never let their guard down. Defensive efforts from Em and Kim proved problematic for Pines goalers, and helped our roo girls record a 13 goal win. Next week, we look forward to meeting power club Karingal in what will be a brutal yet competitive battle. Go Roos!

Netball Notes Pines Pythonettes Last week saw us take on Langwarrin at their home courts. It was an extremely cold and early start for the girls as Langwarrin had their ladies later in the afternoon. Each game was extremely tough and we were left with many injuries; however our B Grade girls came out on top with an impressive ten goal win! This week will see us take on YCW at home for another four tough matches. Lets get rid of these injuries and redeem ourselves from our last meeting against the YCW girls!

It was terrific to come away with 4 solid wins. This week it’s Chelsea at Dingley & unfortunately only three teams are playing so good luck girls! It’s always good to play our local rivals & training mates! Soar Eagles!!

Seaford Tigers It was cold, it was wet. And it wasn’t a great day for netball at Seaford. The D girls came out swinging but unfortunately couldn’t bring home the bacon. The C girls getting the only win for the day against a team they lost against last time they played so amazing effort girls and well done! Ahhh the B girls, what a shocker of a game. We just couldn’t put the basics into motion Saturday which was really disappointing considering what an amazing game we had the previous week. Big props go out to Shib who killed it all day! Hopefully we can all get back to the netball we all know we can play this Saturday when we take on Mornington at home. YEAH NETBALL! Special mentions to all involved in our Ball which was held Saturday night and was a massive success, everyone had a fantastic night and there was some very sore heads Sunday... mine included!

Karingal Bullettes

Coming up against the likes of YCW is always a tough ask, their physicality & defensive pressure is second to none - all games were extremely competitive which is positive for the competition. D GRADE started well & had some great passages, Taya did a great job in centre & was well supported by Bec H & Sam. Krystal is really developing as a defender & had a strong game. Unfortunately the girls ran out of legs & could not finish going down by just 6 goals (31-37). C GRADE had a slow start but luckily found their feet quickly, the game was back & forth with many turnovers & goal for goal type play. Katelyn & Peta were a great duo in defence while Lauren was unstoppable in WD. Unfortunately the girls were just pipped at the post losing by 3 goals (44-47). B GRADE had a horrific start, scoring only 5 goals in the first quarter to be down by 10 at the first break. With a few changes made every player came out firing in the 2nd quarter to be only down by 1 goal at half time in what was the teams best quarter for the season. Unfortunately though we ran out of steam and ended up losing by 18 goals (33-51). Julia & Di were great in defence and the transition to attack from Karen C was great. A GRADE was tight for the whole game and was anyones for the taking. Jayde has on fire in defence playing her best game for the season & the transition from Jordyn & Kate was beautiful. This game was again a full team effort to get the 3 goals win over YCW with every player contributing (51-48).

Last week we headed down the Peninsula to Mornington on Thursday night. It was COLD! D & B grade started out side by side and both got wins on the board. D grade were outclassed by the Doggies the last time we met however turned it around this time and took a win - climbing into the top 4 as well! Laura Mac was best on court in an excellent mid court performance! B grade had the biggest win of the night with Mel Cotta shining! Sneaky passes into Breeza C & A were up next as the temperature plummeted to freezing! Another Mac sister provided a best on display with Elise in C grade shutting down the Doggies goalers - keeping them to 4 goals in the second quarter! A grade took a good win of 9 goals. Several rotations provided coach Ben with options a plenty and a chance to work some different combinations. Captain Jayde was as always solid and Sammy G looks amazing back in the red and white! Her netball was obviously on point as well. This week we are at home and welcome the Roos girls. A great night was had by all at the ball and next up is a crowd favorite - Ladies Day. #GOBULLS #REDWHITEBOOM
