MPNFL Updates MPNFL Update Round 14 2017 Welcome to Round 14 of the 2017 home and away season for both Peninsula FNL and Nepean FNL. As we start to close on the end of the home and away season, we are very excited about the fact that there are still spots up for grabs in the finals race. No doubt the next 5 weeks will bring an increased interest on who will have a chance of winning a flag.

The annual ‘Women in Sport’ luncheon was held yesterday. This year’s special guests were Susan Alberti AC, Sports Journalist Caroline Wilson and AFL W Coach of Collingwood FC Wayne Siekman and MC’d by leading sports broadcaster Tiffany Cherry. It was a great day had by all and we certainly cannot wait to put this event on again next year. Also, just a reminder that in 2017 the presentation night will be a combined night between both Nepean FNL and Peninsula FNL on Monday 4th September at the Mornington Racecourse. It will be a fantastic event and one not to be missed. Invitations to clubs and possible award winners will be sent out after the conclusion of the home and away season.

Stingrays “STINGRAYS STAMP THEIR AUTHORITY AT HOME.” ROUND 13 MATCH REPORT The Dandenong Southern Stingrays staved off a dogged Northern Knights outfit to emerge victors by twenty nine points on a cool Saturday morning at Shepley Oval Dandenong. Boasting 10 changes with a full list to choose from, the Stingrays’ impressive squad led for the entire day, but a determined last quarter from the Knights flattered the end score line. In the end the first half margin was too much for the Knights, with an exhausted Stingrays group hanging on 14. 5 (89) to 8. 12 (60) with a clinical win. AFL Victoria TAC Cup veterans Luke Davies-Uniacke, Oscar Clavarino, Hunter Clark, Mason deWit and Bailey Morrish all led from the front, collecting plenty of disposals and having a widespread impact. Equally impressive were the efforts of Riley D’Arcy, who finished the day with four goals and gave the Rays with a strong target inside 50. Down back, Captains Oscar Clavarino, Josh Bateman and the much improved Jesse Davies and Angus Paterson were pillars of defence, standing firm against Northern’s worthy forward line. “The game really could have gone either way in the end, we were fortunate enough to get across the line today due to the work rate in the first half, and that gives the boys some real confidence, as we come to the back end of the TAC Cup season, ” Stingrays’ senior coach Craig Black said post-match. “With 10 changes you never know what to expect, it’s the first time since round 1 we’ve been able to basically pick from our full list.” He add, “The focus the boys are brining each week no matter who plays is very impressive.” Black concluded by saying, “We had a good spread of goal kickers which again is pleasing, plus a little special moment for Aiden who returned for his first game kicking our first goal…he defiantly will be better off for the game under his belt.” The first quarter saw the visiting side come out and attack immediately, but it would take just 2 minutes before the first major was kicked. It was if the script had been written, after sitting out the past two years battling some major injuries Aiden Bonar announced himself back marking strongly and kicking truly 35 metres out with a flood of emotion and player support welcoming him back to the game. The Knights responded with one of their own, but the Stingrays were dominating through the middle, continually peppering inside 50’s allowing goals to Lachlan Young, Riley D’Arcy and Riley Bowman to come into the huddle with a little bit of confidence leading 25-8.

The second quarter saw the home side flex its muscle with four more goals to set the tone for the attacking Stingrays, who looked dangerous when they committed to their run-and-carry style of play, going into the halftime break 8. 2 (50) to 1. 6 (12). Goals came through Luke Davies Uniacke (2) who was enjoying his time in the forward half, Riley D’Arcy and the ever dangerous Jai Nanscawen, whilst limiting the Knights to four shots on goal, all points. The third started with neither side willing to allow the opposition to gain the first score, with the deadlock broken at the 7 minute mark through Tom Dekoning to extend the lead to 35 points. The Knights started to look dangerous but couldn’t get the reward on the scoreboard. Dandenong needed their leaders to stand up in the face of the Knights momentum – and the likes of Josh Bateman, Oscar Clavarino, Luke Davies- Uniacke, Jesse Davies and Bailey Morrish did just that. Luke Davies-Uniacke was menacing in the middle, Clavarino was marking everything in sight, whilst Davies and Angus Paterson nullified the well regarded opponents. The Stingrays added three more goals, but allowed the Knights to kick two in a row and grow in a little in confidence before Riley D’Arcy marked strongly on the siren and kicked truly giving the Stingrays a comfortable lead of 46 points at the end of the third. The last quarter saw the Stingrays go in with two less players with Mason de Wit gone for the day with a back injury, whilst Aiden Bonar’s day was over due to preplanned game time. It was a disappointing last quarter for the Stingrays with the Knights taking their turn for some hard running, kicking four last quarter goals to the Stingrays two, which saw many Stingrays players moved to different positions to stem the flow of goals. The win puts the Stingrays in good stead, basically securing a finals spot whilst enjoying the weeks rest due to the TAC Cup Bye. In two weeks- time Dandenong head to Frankston Park to take on the Gippsland Power in a TAC Cup double header, that will Sandringham take on the Western Jets prior to the Stingrays game. AFL Vic Country Vic Country prepare for AFL National Inclusion Carnival The best Victorian FIDA footballers are preparing to don the Big-V jumper this week, when Vic Country and Vic Metro head north for the 2017 AFL National Inclusion Carnival on July 24. Held at the Gold Coast, the AFL National Inclusion Carnival brings together footballers with an intellectual disability from across Australia to take part in a weeklong round-robin tournament. For the first time, all states and territories will have a team represented in the competition, with squads from the Northern Territory and Western Australia joining regular competitors Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, NSW/ACT, Vic Metro and Vic Country. Forty of Victoria’s best footballers with an intellectual disability, including eight emergencies, have been selected to form the two Victorian represent squads. Of the twenty players in the Vic Country side, nine country community FIDA (Football Integration Development Association) clubs are represented, with players hailing from both the CVGT Australia Northern Conference and Western Conference. Claiming the 2014 National Inclusion Carnival title and finishing third last season, Vic Country will look to run over fellow statesmen Vic Metro who is keen to extend its national championship winning streak and secure its third consecutive title. Leading the Vic Country side once again is head coach Matt Deegan, who says he is focused on helping his players develop into fine young men, both on and off the field. “We have formulated a really good squad this year and I am really happy with how the team is shaping up,” Deegan said.

Football Preview TIME FOR TIGERS TO LIFT By Simon McEvoy OUT of form, low on confidence and facing a tough run home, SEAFORD must fight like a cornered Tiger to hold on to its place in the top five. At 8-4 and in fourth spot, Seaford at a quick glance appears to be in good shape. But worrying back-to-back losses to lowly Chelsea and Mornington in the past fortnight – and games to come against Frankston YCW, Mt Eliza, Pines, Edi-Asp and Bonbeach – has even the most optimistic Tigers supporters a tad concerned. Seaford coach Ben Murphy was at a loss to explain the Tigers’ dip in form after last week’s 44-point loss to Mornington. “(We have) a lot of players down on confidence and not executing...I just can’t put my finger on it at the moment,’’ he said. “There’s no doubt we are down on confidence and with confidence it’s hard to get and easy to lose. Unfortunately we are losing it at the moment.’’ But with a new week comes new hope - and Seaford has the talent to turn things around. The Tigers, though, face ladder leaders FRANKSTON YCW today, it won’t be easy. The Stonecats (11-2) are playing with bundles of spirit and confidence. The Seaford response today and over the coming weeks will be worth watching. CHELSEA (5-9) has averaged 14 goals a game in the past three rounds as it continues its steady rise. Today the Seagulls go into a game it is expected to win, facing winless LANGWARRIN. Simon Mitchelhill, Todd Gardiner, James Brain and Josh Tripcony have been in good form for the Seagulls and again will play key roles today. Langwarrin looked like cracking its duck egg last week before being nabbed late by Karingal, and while the young Kangaroos aren’t far away from a win, time is running out. Keep an eye on promising youngster Zac Foot, who is a natural ball magnet and impressed on debut last week. It’s crunch time for MT ELIZA when it hosts PINES. The Redlegs have lost their past two games to slip to sixth spot, a game out of the five, and their finals hopes are fading. This is a must win game for Troy Shannon’s side. Pines is facing its own challenges, not least how to handle the loss of Aaron Edwards who has suffered a season-ending knee injury. The Pythons will look to Tim Bongetti, Brad Kiely and Dale Tedge to kick a winning score. The Pythons lost top spot when it was outplayed by Frankston YCW last week. Pines will look to turn the tables on Mt Eliza after losing to the Redlegs by eight points last month.

Running hot and with a nothing-to-lose attitude, MORNINGTON is the side that top five sides don’t want to play in the run to the finals. The Bulldogs (5-8, seventh) are in season-best form after big wins against Karingal (80 points) and Seaford (44). If they don’t make the five, they can definitely shape it. Today, Mornington hosts third-placed BONBEACH (10-4) which appears to be positioning itself for a serious tilt at the flag. But the Sharks will be wary of the Bulldogs. Bonny will need to curb the influence of in-form Mornington small forward Broden Bird, who fired off seven goals last week in an electrifying display. Warwick Miller, Emilio Bitters, Joel Miller and Jai Haddock are also in good form for the Dogs. Bonbeach was impressive in beating Mt Eliza by 25 points last week, with Owen Hulett slotting five goals in his most productive game this season. Win this and a top-three spot looks all but assured for the Sharks. EDI-ASP (8-5) are riding the crest of a wave and should be able to continue their march to the finals by beating KARINGAL at Frankston Park. While the Bulls broke through for their second win of the season last week, Edi-Asp have won five of their past six games to climb into the five and are one of the inform sides of the comp. In a significant boost, the Eagles regained the talented Michael Bussey last week and their best footy could be to come.

Football Preview BONNY RUNNING HOT IN THE RESERVES... BONBEACH (9-5) is flying, beating all comers with ease in recent times, including a comprehensive win over top team Mt Eliza last week. Joel Mulholland, Matt Taylor and Anthony Hogan are just a few Sharks in hot form, fuelling the side’s charge towards September. Bonny’s winning run should continue today against MORNINGTON. MT ELIZA’S undefeated streak ended last week and the Redlegs will be keen to bounce back strongly against PINES. The Pythons have won three of their past four, including a strong win over YCW last week, to climb to fourth spot. SEAFORD is looking to stretch its winning streak to 13 when it faces fifth-placed FRANKSTON YCW, which needs to dig deep after successive losses. EDI-ASP has been frustrated by a string of narrow losses but can return to wining form against KARINGAL. CHELSEA (4-9, seventh) showed plenty of spirit to win last week, with Daniel Aarsman and Matt Gardiner showing the way, and looks a strong chance against an out-ofform LANGWARRIN. BULLS AND EAGLES IN BIG CLASH IN THE UNDER 19s… After two untimely losses, KARINGAL (7-6, sixth) will be looking to rekindle its finals hopes when it tackles fourthplaced EDI-ASP. The Eagles are flying with James Hickey, Ben Ward and Campbell Ak in good form. LANGWARRIN (10-3, third) is looking for a fifth straight win when it goes to CHELSEA. Langy’s charge has been fuelled by Nathan Allen (21 goals), Lachlan Bayley and Bayleigh Tate while Zach Andrewartha, who has played mostly seniors this season, was a handy inclusion last week. Second-placed FRANKSTON YCW burst back to winning form last week, with Jarrod Sullivan slotting nine goals, and can go on with it against SEAFORD (6-7, seventh). Ladder leaders MT ELIZA hosts winless PINES in what is likely to be lopsided game. MORNINGTON is enjoying a purple patch, peeling off five straight wins, and it should continue against BONBEACH. Ryan Rose, Connah Carter, Hayden Anderson and Luke Ambler have been impressive for the Bulldogs.

Made the trip down to Edithvale last Saturday and whilst only coming away with 1 win still some positive signs. The 19’S got well beaten by a top side but again showed plenty of spirit. Short again due to injuries and Senior promotions they can hold their heads high. The Coaching staff should also be congratulated on the way they have managed the season under difficult circumstances, always putting the Club first. best were Baum, Haslem, Mokaraka, Knowles and Heurtau. The 2’s played really well to turn some good form into a win, they have been close over the last couple of weeks. Daniel Aarsman is starting to motor after being hampered by injury well into the season, he was well supported by Gard’s, Wheels, Drilla and Jordy Atwell who is having a great year. More wins in store here for sure as we get blokes back. In the Seniors we were in and out of the game and gave them some cheap goals at different stages, overall though we battled in right out again to almost give ourselves a chance in the last quarter. Fair to say they may have got the rub of the green at different stages but we need to be more disapplined both on and ( OFF ) the field. Best players were Mitchelhill, Gardner, Brad Clark , Brain and Dess. This week we take on Chelsea in another away from home game. We know that effort and endeavour will as always be part of our game, across all 3 teams. last week saw us take on Karingal at Mornington. A good tight and close win by the u/19’s saw us take out the chocolates by 5 points. Unfortunately this early win couldnt be replicated in either of the other games. Going into half time with a lead in the ones gave our supporters plenty of hope. In a scrappy affair though , with both teams knowing what was on the line it was Karingal who took out the points. A good game by Zac Foot and 4 goals by Keiran Albanese were amongst the highlights. If we stick at it , stick together and if we can convert our efforts to kick a decent score we should be well in the hunt this week against Chelsea. Lets hope that the club song can be sung by all three teams this week. “ And we’ll fight on till victory’s won “ Car Raffle : Please get yourself a ticket. The Ones provided a great exhibition of moving the air conveyance by hand and foot and won well. No 27 was best backed up by No 34, the youthful No 38 booted 5 whilst Nos 1 and 18 were impassable. The Ressies had a stumble, particularly after half time. No 58 continued his good form whilst Nos 41 and 44 tried hard - but a 4 goal defeat. The Unders bounced back to the winners list with a big win. Last week we ventured to Seaford and the boys were positive that they could come away with the win. It was a tight 1st half with us going into the break only 2 points up then the boys lifted and kicked 5 goals to 1 in the 3rd to take a commanding lead and never let up in the last going home with a 44 point win. The backline was solid, Broden Bird did what all good small fowards should do & kicked 7 and as usual our best on ground was the likes of Wazza, Bits, Joel, Macca & Jai. In the Ressies playing second on the ladder was always going to be a hard game ,the 1st quarter was tough & we went into the first quarter about 6 goals down.The rest of the game was a struggle with Seaford being alot more stronger and more physical team ,but to the boys credit in the second half they kept on fighting and did not throw in the towel .Special mention to a few of the boys Kyle Bird,Jack Crawford and Zac Norman who as the year gone on are getting better with every game, well done boys. In the 19’s Seaford at home are always tough to get over. With a solid start we were able to control the game and keep Seaford at arms length for most of the match. Another really even performance from our group who are now consistently improving. We are now looking forward to the run home where we play some high quality opponents who are also on the up. All invited to the Comedy Night tonight - just pay at the door - will be a fun night! Go Doggies!!

A strong club performance on Saturday. Against a benchmark club in the competition we achieved 2 out of 3 wins. The reserves winning streak continues as they dominated Mt Eliza, the undefeated ladder leader to record their sixth straight win cementing a spot in the top 3. One of the best reserves wins in recent history the boys all contributed and deserve to be ranked a real flag contender. The seniors bounced back after consecutive defeats. A dominate display poor kicking for goal kept Mt Eliza in the match. When needed though the boys responded with a strong final quarter to finish 25 point winners. Owey and Syksey were standouts in an even team performance. Saturday we hosted residents of local BUPA aged care-- Edithvale and Bonbeach. Our annual match day invitation saw residents and carers enjoying some social time combined with great Bonbeach hospitality. It was great to see Arnold, Bill, Damien, Honora, John, Keith, Jim & Dianna enjoy watching the game and thank you to the carers and staff Sue, Mark, Priscilla, Karen, Craig & Tracey who also enjoyed the game too. Even the players got involved to ensure the day was the best it could be. A visit to the football just isn’t possible for many elderly residents and we are thrilled to provide and engage through our association with BUPA. Today we congratulate Tim Groot on his 200th Game for the MEFNC. “Groota” came up through the MEJFC as an Under 9 and progressed through the Grades, including an U/18 Flag in 2003, when he played his first Reserves Game. Since then he has played in 4 Reserves Flags in ‘05, ‘06, ‘14 and ‘16. Alternating between full back and full forward, “Groota” has played 36 Senior Games and 163 in the Reserves. Well done to a popular Clubman on a fantastic career to date! Today we also see another product of the Juniors, Jordan Capkin set to play his 50th Game for the Club. Congrats Jordy! To last weeks results and the Unders got the day off well with a win but it was downhill from there. The boys started well, although inaccuracy in front of goals was an issue again. We led comfortably at 1/2 time 4.9 to 1.2 and then dominated the 3rd kicking 6.5 to 1.0 and a further 2.4 to nil in the last saw us win by 76. Forrest (4) and Hilly (3) led the charge with better players including Harry Cameron, Oscar Craig, Max Rea & Jimmy Logan. The Reserves suffered their first loss since Rd.7 2016 going down to Bonbeach by 7 goals, kicking just 1 for the day! Kenty was named Best, along with U19 Chris Burton, Groota, Hammond, Jacko, and Matt Lillie back from overseas. The Seniors were behind the eight ball early, kicking just 3 goals until 3 qtr time, although keeping the opposition to 8. We won the last qtr 6 goals to 4 but went down by 25 points. JV booted 3 and Harps and Freeman a couple each. Better players were 17 year old Tom Small on debut, Heasa, Lambie and Harps. Need a big lift today v Pines, who we welcome to Madsen Reserve. The challenges keep coming and today is yet another. Our under 19s is a very young side with a lot of talent, but nonetheless young. We take on a side with seemingly endless numbers coming within their catchment. The character in our group is strong with an elite sportsperson as coach to guide the group. The football program is excellent and intent on continually improving, so these boys and future youth coming through will excel in the Pines FNC environment. Watch the game in this context. Our reserves have taken substantial steps forward with the inclusion of last years 19s, the return of former players, and some wonderful new players. All have bought in to the program which results in wins like last week. A big challenge against an undefeated top side. Enjoy and embrace it. Opportunities are everywhere. With finals fast approaching there is a myriad of individuals vying for those precious finals appointments. The field umpires are honing their whistle blowing skills, the boundary umpires are running even faster between the behind posts and the goal umpires are practicing in front of the mirror (my mirror cracked it was put under so much pressure) just in case they get the opportunity to umpire on the big day. There have however been some fresh faces umpiring the big games each weekend and these umpires have earned their spots and performed well on their senior umpiring debuts. I include Field, Boundary and Goal umpires in this group. I believe however last week’s debut was the most anticipated of SUAs history. (Anticipated by the individual himself ). Rumour has it is that he slept at the ground on the Friday night before the game just so he wouldn’t be late. So, a big belated congratulation goes out to everyone’s favourite trumpet playing field umpire Daniel Shorthouse. Well done Shorty on your long awaited senior debut (11 years I am led to believe). You are proof that if you train hard and persist that any goal is achievable.

Netball Notes Chelsea Seagulls

It was a dry but chilly day to match up against Edi-Asp in Round 13, but we were ready to take them on! After a strong win against Seaford in Round 12, the D girls had all the confidence to come out and give Edi-Asp a run for their money. Unfortunately for us they started strong and were ahead the whole game. The girls fought ahead to only go down by 24 points. We will learn from our mistakes and get ready for Langwarrin next week. C Grade played a stellar game which saw them take a 6 point lead at 3 quarter time! We welcomed back Sallie into the side, who was such a strong presence in defence. Perri played another great game shutting down her opponents. The girls can hold their heads high knowing they all played so well, unfortunately the end result didn’t go in our favour. B Grade- well what a ripper game by everyone! By far the best game I have seen from all 7 girls on the court! Katja really stepped it up again this week playing an important role in team. Brylee had another brilliant game earning best on court with her defensive pressure! The girls came back in the last quarter from 8 points down to only losing by 2, a huge improvement from our previous 36 point loss to Edi-Asp! Well done to all girls who showed up knowing it was going to be tough and really stepped up to the challenge. Everyone should be proud of themselves. The confidence boost will help us against Langwarrin this week..

Frankston YCW StoneKittens

Langwarrin Kangaroos Round 13 saw us travel to sunny Mornington to take on Karingal and we definitely took it to them! D grade cemented our first win of the day, dominating the game from the first minute to the final whistle. Standing tall in defence and accurate goaling caused the upset, with our Roo girls coming away with a 15 goal win. Up next we saw a mighty battle in C grade. It was tough contested netball and with scores level at half time it was anyone’s game. We almost lost our fight, but after a honest ‘wake up’ speech from our captain at three quarter time, something clicked. We produced an 11 goal turnaround to win the match by 4 and beat Karingal for the first time in many encounters. A huge team effort! With spirits high our B girls took to the court full of confidence, and started off extremely well. Our girls contested hard the entire match but unfortunately our winning streak came to an end. The final result however, definitely did not reflect how passionate and hard fought our girls played. To finish the day, our A girls took to the court. Defensive pressure in the goal circle was incredible, our run through the middle was dynamic, and young gun Emily proved her versatility when thrown into goals for the final quarter, and she did not disappoint. Eventually the girls went down by 10 goals, but all efforts were positively applauded! We look forward to taking on Chelsea next weekend with the determination to keep our winning streak and finals hopes alive! Go Roos!!

Last week against Pines the A grade girls started a little scrappy. We had a large number of opportunities that we didn’t convert from due to skill errors. Once we settled and started to play our game of netball, things fell into place. Our full court defensive pressure resulted in many turnovers. BOC goes to Erin for her constant hustle in WD and taking a number of crucial intercepts. The B grade girls also took some time to settle into the game and were unable to capitalise on turnover opportunities in the first quarter. Things fell into place in the second quarter with strong defensive pressure down the court and we were able to convert 6 out of 9 turnovers. BOC goes to Laura for her amazing defensive pressure. C grade girls had a great win 32 - 51 after a bit of a messy start and a few injuries! We were extremely consistent and rarely muffed the pass but when we did worked harder to get it back. Our pressure over the ball was great and our conversion rate was also great. BOC goes to Maxine for her continued work creating opportunities for us over and over again. D grade also had a solid win 42 - 7. We tried a few different combinations and a special mention to Zoe for jumping into the gaols last quarter. Our defence did what they do best! BOC goes to Ebony who has really listened and focussed on what she has been taught at training and put into action on the court! Great day with 4 out of 4 wins!

Mt Eliza Red Legs

Round 13 saw us celebrating our first lady to play 100 games for Pines Netball. Congratulations to Taschelle Archer a great achievement for a well respected player at our club. Our main aim is to go in to each game with a positive attitude and a belief that we can improve on a weekly basis. D grade girls are giving their all and coming off the court smiling, not giving up and improving immensely. A, B and C are bridging the gap on their opponents on meeting them 2nd time around which is great for their confidence. Its great to play at our home ground now as the support from our members and footy players is great to see on the side of the court. Off to Mt Eliza this week and another challenge we are looking forward to. Go Pythonettes

Evan was a dashing half forward flanker with a keen sense of the goals. Last week we played Chelsea & with over half our squad away or injured, it was great to see all teams got home with solid wins. The hi-light of last weekend was definitely the 1987 triple Premiership reunion at the Kenny Lyons Pavilion. It was great to see so many familiar faces reminiscing about the good old days! This week we have a huge challenge as we face the very professional Bulls outfit. Good luck girls & to all Eagle teams playing this week. Soar Eagles!!

We started Round 14 with a lovely team breakfast at the Coach’s house followed by a leisurely walk down to Shark Park to take on Bonbeach. With our form picking up at the right time we were confident of taking home 4 wins & we did just that. D GRADE were impressive from the outset applying exceptional defensive pressure. Krystal, Jordyn & Brianna all played well in goals while Olivia held strong in defence. Mounties took the 4 points (44-23). C GRADE followed on with a 17 goal win (47-30) & were dominant in all areas. Our mid court was great this week with Steph, Holly & Maddie playing the full 4 quarters, Lauren C was also impressive in defence. B GRADE played one of their best games for the season against a Bonbeach side determined to bring some physicality into the game. The girls however responded with pure skill while sticking to the game plan which saw them take the win easily in the end (56-27). Allana really hit her straps while Julia & Jamie did well in defence. Maddie got an opportunity this week & did a great job. A GRADE was a struggle this week, with 6 of our A grade players missing it was hard to find form, however the girls were really impressive how they stood up, worked hard and were still able to walk away winners despite being extremely undermanned (41-34). Well done to Ash in goals & Di for helping out. Julia starred in her debut which was a delight. We take on Pines this week at home, they are always a tough competitor & will bring their A game!!

Karingal Bullettes A big thank you to Mornington FNC for the use of their courts last week - great atmosphere being so close to the footy. Looking forward to season 2018 when we will be playing on our court at the Bullpit! Congrats must go to the boys who recorded a win & finished off the day nicely! A grade stepped onto a sunny court & took the four points. A poorly scheduled VNL game left us very depleted but the B girls stepped up & shone! One opposition spectator gave best on honours to Breeza! B grade handed out an absolute shellacking to Langy. Peyton shut down one goaler completely while at the other end Em & Mel dominated. Bridge can do no wrong & took to the court in both the A & B grade games. Unfortunately D grade were missing some key position players & also lost Geri to injury. C grade were neck & neck until late in the fourth quarter - hampered by some of our own position changes and a series of incredibly questionable umpiring decisions, went down by four goals. Fortunately this will not occur in finals & we retain our top 2 position. This week we welcome Edi Asp to the Bullpit. Four tough games are expected to play out! Congrats to Laura Mac on her wedding this week in Noosa! Another congrats to former Bull & superstar Matilda Garrett on a) her elevation to the Magpies playing roster for 2018 b) runners up representing the green & gold. C grade had a tough hit out but managed to hang on and win by 1 goal. We are depleted for players in the C grade at the moment and so thank-you to Emily, Chloe and Lucy for playing again in the C grade. Lucy who has been playing some pretty amazing netball that everyone has noticed and commented about D grade had a very convincing win against Seaford, beating them 49 to 14. Sam Kozoil who had a great goaling game, shooting at 83% and scoring 30 of our 49 goals. Again our defensive end worked hard and the goalers rewarded that work. We sit 5th on the ladder and are still well in contention for finals so keep working hard girls. Go Doggies WOOF WOOF

Mornington Bulldogs

A grade girls got off to a slow start against Seaford to find themselves 10 goals down by the half time break. The girls found a way to lift and started to turn on a show in the second half. Sarah Pike proving to be a versatile asset to the side, playing in the mid-court and feeding the goalers effortlessly. Jess & Candace Page maintained relentless defensive pressure to afford the side the many turnovers they needed to get back into the game. It was Tess Cooper that was the standout who ran centre for the whole match. Once again the B grade side fought valiantly undermanned. Meg was brilliant in defence as was our other C grade fill-ins, Sarah & Melissa. Holly Newton played a wonderful game in goals for her first game back in 4 weeks.

Seaford Tigers

Round 13 Tiges v doggies What a round it was! Unfortunately our C and D grade sides were unable to take home the chocolates this week. Lisa had her best game of the season to be awarded man of the match in C. For b grade it had been a long time between drinks. Coming off the back of possibly their worst game of the season the girls looked like a completely new side and dominated the play. Each quarter the girls started off strong and got the early goals on the board but as we fatigued in the last couple of minutes of each quarter the doggies were able to capitalise on our mistakes and finish each quarter up. That was until the last quarter were our girls jumped out of the beaten up Holden commodore and put their foot down in their new Ferrari and floored it home to an 8 goal victory. Well done Tiges! BOG went to Vera who killed it in defence. Our depleted a grade side took the court knowing they were in for a tight battle but the girls wanted to cement their spot in finals and didn’t they do just that. The girls came out firing and finished the first quarter with a nice 6 goal lead and continued to slowly but surely add to it each quarter to follow. Congrats to Sarah who after playing 3/4 in B grade made her A grade debut slotting into centre seamlessly. This week we take on YCW (side note - does anyone actually know what that stands for?) and we are hoping to get a few runs on the board. Go TIGES!
