MPNFL Updates MPNFL Update Round 16 2017 Welcome to Round 16 of the 2017 home and away season for both Peninsula FNL and Nepean FNL. AFL South East Competition Review The AFL South East Competition Review is now nearing to an end with the AFL South East Commission to meet next Monday for a presentation from the Review Panel. The Commission will then review the information presented with a decision to be made around mid-August on the competition structure. Finals Venues Announced 2017 will see football and netball finals action being played at many different venues across the Mornington Peninsula. Please see below for the venue allocated for each week of finals. AFL Vic Country MPNFL Update Round 16 2017 Female Kickstart, All Nations & Boormiul Trials begin The search for Victoria’s most talented Indigenous and multicultural female footballers has begun, with the commencement of the Kickstart, All Nations and Boorimul Program regional trials. Held in community venues across Victoria, the regional trials provide talented Indigenous and multicultural footballers with the opportunity to showcase their skills and be selected for one of three AFL Victoria diversity talent programs. The Kickstart and All Nations programs give Under-15 footballers from Indigenous and Multicultural backgrounds an opportunity to fast track their football development through a highly enjoyable on and off field program.

Selected players from the regional trials will form Victoria’s Female Kickstart and All Nations representative squads which will compete against the best players from across the country in the AFL National Female Diversity Championships later this year. In addition, the regional trials will also serve as an identification platform for the newly developed Female Boorimul Program. Drawing on similarities from the highly-successful Laguntas program for males, the Boorimul Program supports talented young female Indigenous athletes aged 16-20, to not only maximise their football potential, but also to engage with Australian Football through umpiring, coaching and administrative work in the AFL. Six regional venues will host trials across the state from July 26 - August 16 including Mildura, Shepparton and Ballarat, while two trials will be held in metro Melbourne at IKON Park and Werribee Football Club.

Football Preview REDLEGS RALLY by Simon McEvoy EVERY game, every kick and every minute matters for MT ELIZA from here on in as the Redlegs look to fight their way back into the five. Troy Shannon’s side need to win their remaining three games, starting with KARINGAL today. It’s been a frustrating season for the Mounties who have shown they can match it with the very best sides the comp (they’ve beaten third-placed Pines twice), but struggled to muster any significant momentum. Karingal gave champs Frankston YCW an almighty scare last week, surging 27 points in front in the last quarter before being reeled in. The Bulls even kept the reigning premiers scoreless in the premiership quarter - no mean feat. If they can reproduce that form today, they might be able to surprise Mt Eliza, which can’t afford another slip up. For the Redlegs, look for the in-form Rohan Heasley, Darren Booth and Shane Tennant to lead the way. PINES and SEAFORD have faced their share of challenges in recent times - and a big one confronts them today when they clash in one of the games of the season. The Pythons are in third spot but have forgotten how to win, dropping their past three games. And with finals around the corner, Pines needs to turn things around quickly, otherwise their flag hopes will be looking grim. They need to hit back hard today. The last rites were being read on Seaford’s season last week before they rallied under pressure to score a stirring win over Mt Eliza and climb back into the five. But the Tigers need to keep winning if they are to play finals, setting up a crucial clash today with Pines. Rourke Fischer has had an exceptional season for the Tigers and his past month has been brilliant. Ben Howlett, Dean Williamson, Curtis Murfett, Matt McCormack and Nick Braund are also crucial players for the Tiges. BONBEACH and FRANKSTON YCW meet in a top-of-theladder clash that is sure to provide an important warm up to finals action next month. The Sharks and Stonecats could be playing off in the very last game of the season, so gaining a psychological advantage today could come in handy. Bonbeach has already beaten Frankston YCW this season, holding the Stonecats scoreless in the third quarter on its way to a 27-point win back in Round 6. Dylan Jones, Jackson Casey and Gary Carpenter were superb that day. Frankston YCW hasn’t been as dominant this season as it has in recent seasons, but the Stonecats continually find a way to win. YC has had to claw their way past Mt Eliza, Seaford and Karingal in the past month. Bonbeach will look to put the Stonecats under pressure and see what happens.

Two in-form sides go head-to-head when EDI-ASP host LANGWARRIN. But while the Eagles are marching to the finals, Langy’s goal for the rest of the season is to get another win and climb off the bottom of the ladder. You’ve got to admire Brad Dredge’s side for turning their fortunes around and winning their past two games. What looked like being a winless season is now tossing up plenty of positives and providing a peek into the future as youngsters Zac Foot, Kye Whitfort and Aaron Marks find their feet and Matt Naughton, Shane Paterson, Gerard Brown and Blake Peach develop further as leaders. A sustained run of strong form has not only secured a finals berth for Edi-Asp (10-5, fourth) but has the Eagles poised to snatch a top-three spot and a coveted double chance in finals. Graeme Yeats has his well-balanced side playing with confidence, with the likes of Tim Mannix, Michael Bussey, Matt Clark and Todd Woodbridge showing the way. MORNINGTON and CHELSEA are both chasing win number six for the season when they meet at Alexandra Park. The Bulldogs and Seagulls have been hot and cold in recent times and for both this could be their last chance for a win in 2017. Both sides take similar form lines into the game. Both have beaten finals contender Seaford in the past month – but they’ve also lost to last-placed Langwarrin at their latest outings. The Seagulls, though, should be fresh going into this after a bye last week, and if Matt Ponton, Todd Gardiner, Simon Mitchelhill and Josh Tripcony can hit their straps, they’ll be tough to beat.

Football Preview FLYING SHARKS IN THE RESERVES… BONBEACH and FRANKSTON YCW meet in a third-versusfifth showdown. The Sharks have been flying, with Mitch Barry, Sheldon Price, Liam Gales and Jayden Cole in dominant form. MORNINGTON, kept to only 14 points last week, will find it tough against an in-form CHELSEA (6th), with James Sivijs, Stuart Brooke and Matt Gardiner in mint form. MT ELIZA has lost top spot but look for the Redlegs to hit back hard today against KARINGAL, which has improved in recent times, with Brendon Groenendyk and D’Arcy Garton leading the way. EDI-ASP will be looking to snap a frustrating run of narrow losses when it hosts LANGWARRIN, which is coming off a stirring win when Andrew Taylor, Andrew Borrie and Cody Howard played well. Fourth-placed PINES face a big test against ladder leaders SEAFORD (14-1), which continues to sparkle led by Levi Hughes, Brendan Dawes, Matt Andrews, Paul Vyverberg and Mark Di Blasio. RED-HOT LANGY IN THE UNDER19s… EDI-ASP (10-5, fourth) faces a stiff test against a redhot LANGWARRIN which has emerged as a serious flag contender on the back of six successive wins. The Kangaroos have been inspired in recent weeks by Tom Branch, Josh Holloway, Jack Lacey and Bailey Smith. Top spot is within reach for the Roos. FRANKSTON YCW have won their past three games as Mackenna Hura, Luke Black and Hayden Raphael stamp their class. The Stonecats face eighth-placed BONBEACH Ladder leaders MT ELIZA is building up nicely towards finals and, with James Logan, Callan Rice and Ben McKenzie in good form, should be too good for KARINGAL. MORNINGTON will look to consolidate fifth spot by beating CHELSEA. PINES have improved in recent weeks and can be competitive against SEAFORD.

Last Sunday the club hosted the under 17’s match at Shark Park. Players and supporters got down and supported the future stars of our club. The day was capped with a special presentation with all players receiving their under 19 player polo shirts. We look forward to having the boys on board next year. Thanks to those who attended the Comedy gala last Saturday. 3 great comedians headlined by LEHMO everyone enjoyed the show and rocked out to the live band till late. Off we go to the challenging Bonbeach Reserve today to do battle with the Sharks. They gave us a touch up back in Round 6 so it’s a chance to level the ledger They say that Golf stuffs up a nice walk, well last week the rampant breezes played havoc with the footy skills. Once again our depth was tested and it was a windswept Coburn Oval that welcomed Karingal for the u/19 stoush. We were slowly away, still behind at 3/4 time but managed to overrun the Bulls in the last stanza. Mac Hura and Liam Rossetto were solid and Blacky continued his consistent form. The Magoos bounced back keeping the Bulls goalless after 1/4 time and ran away for a 10 goal win. Brandon Lee and Zinzi were best and special mentions to young guns Sam Fulton and Harry Lane. Big game this week boys. The Ones struggled for 3 quarters against a determined Bulls outfit (that bloody Burkey is a marvel!) but regrouped and booted 7 large ones in the last chapter to win by 12 points. Ongers and Knackers had busy days, Ryley seemed to be everywhere and a special mention to Charlie Patto The Stonekittens had a dirty day against the strong Bullettes winning one game. Club Notes In windy , blustery conditions last week it would be fair to say that Lloyd park was the place to be. Taking on Mornington we managed three from three. Each was a wonderful, gutsy win. Every player who pulled on the jumper played well. The U/19’s were typically skillful and hard at. The two’s had a convincing win . In the Seniors with a youthful side we had our second win for the season. Thats two in a row , and its noticeable that just a couple of wins can help turn the spirit around the club. The fact that we played host to the Under 17’s at a club arranged lunch, shows that there is much to like about the future here at Langwarrin. A tough assignment this week as we take on the in form Edi - Asp , but if we maintian the momentum that has been gained over the past couple of weeks , we should be in with a real chance. Congratulations to all players , coaches , and support staff involved with the club last week. The three positive results were a credit to you all. Go Langy !!!! Today we welcome Chelsea FNC to the kennel along with our past players. With only 3 rounds to go our list is looking very sad with so many injuries but we must soldier on and finish the season with heads up The Seniors had a day they would like to forget & probably a season as well, going down to a more determined & hungrier side by 3 points. In blustery conditions it wasn’t pretty and they lead by 3 goals going into the 3rd but Langy kicked 4 goals with the wind to take home the win. Joel Miller, Ryan Smith & Jai Haddock continue to give us their best footy week in week out & James Turnbull has really stepped up in the past 2 weeks playing great footy no matter what role the coach sets. The Ressies are even more depleted with most of them playing up in the seniors & unfortunately that shows on the scoreboard. All the best to Louie who did his ACL, it just hasn’t been his year Credit to Jeff as it must be so difficult to arrive and not know how many players he has each week and who is playing & not playing. The pups game lived up to all expectations with us within reach of victory very late in the game. It was a shame that a good game of footy was spoiled by one incident. We wish Lachie H all the best after he sustained a broken eye socket & 2 fractures to his face and will again have to have surgery for the 2nd time this year. We walked away from this game knowing that with a couple of high quality additions to our line up we only get better. Good Luck to all! Go Dogs

Well I have to say it was really good to have the weekend off after a disappointing day at Home against Langwarrin. Well done to them though as they managed to Frank that form against Mornington the following week. Business end of the season now so please make sure we all get to the remaining games and support all the sides. Would like to give a big thanks to Gary Buckenara for affording us is time at the Presidents Lunch, please get behind Frankston Footy Club in the quest to rejoin the VFL next season. Thanks to Trippa and the crew for the Function also on the Saturday after the Langy game. I also want to thank Brett for organising the Comedy evening last Thursday, it was a huge success and no doubt all the people who attended had a great night. Today we welcome the Karingal FNC to Madsen Reserve and also the guests attending our Luncheon inside. Today Justin Van Unen plays game number 50 for the Club. Only the 2nd player in the Club’s history to boot 100 in a season in 2015, following Anson Brownless’s 100 in 1997, JV needs 5 goals today to pass 200 - Good luck JV! Last week we travelled to Seaford, but only took the points in the U/19 game. They kicked the day off with a comfortable win. Kicking with the strong breeze in the 1st we kicked 6.3 to nil, held them to 1 goal in the 2nd, kicked another 3 with the breeze in the 3rd and ended up winning by 52 points. Jimmy Logan, Scotty & Ben McKenzie booted 3 apiece, with other better players being Ricey, Max Rea, Zane & Sam Hallpike. The Reserves kicked against the breeze in the 1st qtr with Seaford kicking the only 3 goals. They kicked the only 2 of the 2nd to open up a 5 goal lead. We were kept goalless again in the 3rd and finished off with a couple in the last, going down by 6 goals and handing a more desperate Seaford top spot! Best players were Nick Strickland, Kenty, Sam Howell, Burton, Riley & McKinnon. The Seniors started well with the wind, kicking the opening 3 goals before they kicked the final 3 to reduce the margin. One goal each in the 2nd kept things even, before they booted 6 goals to 1 to break the game open. They extended their lead with the first of the last, before we kicked the final 3 goals to reduce the margin to 14 points. Better players were Boota, Tenno, Heasa, Ristrom, Gorms & Turnbull. Welcome today to all those attending the luncheon. It should be a great day and with the July weather out of the way, hopefully better football weather. If not, stay inside and enjoy the game in the comfort of the rooms. Last week in the under 19s we fittingly presented our contribution to multi-cultural round, having 3 young fellas from Borneo playing. They are out here to play in the youth international AFL carnival held in Parkdale, so if you get an opportunity go and have a look and see how far the game is progressing around the globe. Some reminders that the $2000 draw tickets are due to come back in the next week and remember round 18 is a big one for our final event of the year. Includes Calcutta, draw of $2000 and much more. Seniors had the second blustery day in succession and the first quarter kicking 2.10 essentially snuffed out the candle of opportunity. Must win today where words canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t communicate anywhere near as much as actions and attitude. Reserves have cemented a place in the finals with a 10 goal turnaround from last time they played. Will be great to have the red and green back in finals in this grade. 19s have been showing great improvement of late and sides that had previously been kicking their 20 regular are now being restricted and our boys are hitting the scoreboard. Some solid results against the always powerful Redlegs last week. Our 19s put in a spirited display after being 40 odd points down at 1/4 time. A fair effort against the top side & considering we’ve been decimated with injuries for most of the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully the Cubs can turn things around in the last 3 rounds and get to sing the song! They certainly deserve it. Great result from the Seniors after a few hard weeks. We all know how hard the run home is to qual for finals, but it’s fair to say if we are going to have any confidence in playing finals football it would be with the belief of taking down some big scalps on the way. We have another opportunity against our neighbours & arch rivals today! They’ve certainly had it over us in the past few encounters. Last but not least - Billys Magoos!!! What a cracker performance against one of the better sides going around in recent years. Certainly have them ticking along nicely & playing such a great brand of team footy. Stingrays “STINGRAYS SLIP UP AT FRANKSTON” ROUND 14 MATCH REPORT The Dandenong Southern Stingrays’ run of wins has come to a grinding halt after a heart-pounding 2-point loss to the Gippsland Power in Frankston on Saturday afternoon, going down 14.8 (92) to 14.10 (94). With the Armageddon of winds forecasted for Saturday, the day at the beach at Frankston was always going to be tricky, with the wind favouring the city end by around four goals as well as favouring the Grandstand side of the ground. Gippsland were the better team for most of the day, however they struggled to capitalise on the scoreboard, keeping the Stingrays close enough in the game to nearly snatch it in the dying minutes. Dandenong’s trademark attack on the football was also severely lacking, with the young Rays looking lethargic and missing for significant parts of the match. This in part may have been the loss of two of their hard-nut players in the first quarter, in Ali Zijai (ankle) and Captain Joshua Bateman (blurred vision from a head knock). Gippsland collected the largest part of possession around the ground, and Dandenong were simply unable to keep up, giving away undisciplined free kicks and making poor decisions. The Stingray defence did perform marvellously, with Mason deWit, Jesse Davies and young gun William Hamill once again stand-outs. Through the middle there was a standout, that being Hunter Clark who accumulated 34 possession’s, 16 handball receives, 7 clearances, 10 inside 50’s, 4 rebounds along with 2 goals to be named best afield on the day. Also, particularly noteworthy was big man Tom Dekoning, putting in his best performance of the year, amassing 42 hit outs, and providing the Stingrays with some muchneeded tall timber in marking contests, especially in the last quarter standing tall. Riley Darcy was again the most dangerous Dandenong forward, supported by Campbell Hustwaite with both bagging 3 goals, but with mediocre support around the ground, the Stingrays never really deserved to win the game. Unlike the previous 6 weeks the entry inside the forward line was shallow or wide, with the midfielders unable to hit up the leading targets. “Gippsland definitely had much more intent around the footy, and were willing to work a bit harder around the contests,” admitted Craig Black after the game. “ “The third quarter they took all their chances in front of goal, but I thought we’d done enough to match them giving ourselves a real chance in the last to run away with it.” “It’s a tough competition, we know that. Today we left our run late and as a group we want except it, we want to have a winning culture as part of our development of players. We let ourselves in a couple of areas, which we will address on Tuesday- then focus on the Pioneers.”

The first term didn’t start well for the Rays, as Gippsland opened the scoring from a free kick but it was quickly rewarded with back to back goals to Campbell Hustwaite. Unfortunately for the Power, goalkicking let them down, as they could have blown Dandenong away with the aid of the strong first quarter breeze, with the scores at quarter time, 2. 7 (19) to 2.1 (13). The second term continued much as the first did – this time the Stingrays dominating the scoreboard. The midfield pressure from the Stingrays gave first use to the forwards who slammed on six goals, with the defence only allowing 3 goals to see the Stingrays lead by 13 points at the half-time break. The third quarter was genuinely disastrous for the Rays – while they continued to give away stupid free kicks and make poor decisions under pressure, Gippsland regained the lead, booting six goals, seemingly unimpeded this time by the wind as they took all their chances in front of goals. There was a distinct lack of urgency in the way the Stingrays were playing – and despite terrific individual efforts from swinging utilities Mitch Cotter and Hunter Clark, the Stingrays went into the last term on the wrong end of a 10-point deficit. Black challenged the midfield, pleading for better use going inside 50 asking forwards to give more leads, as well as reassuring the group that the game was there for the win for whom ever wanted it the most, with now a slight drop in the wind a 2-goal breeze it should have been an easier task for the Stingrays to make it 7 wins in a row. Again, there were flashes of the Dandenong side that cruised to a 6-0 win record in the past 6 games, but this was after allowing the Power to extend the lead to 19 points in the opening minutes of the first quarter. Gippsland managed two more goals against the breeze whilst the fast finishing Stingrays come home flying until the final siren sounded on the Rays’ devastating loss by two points on a day that could have been. Dandenong do still retain fifth spot on the TAC Cup ladder, but from today’s performance, they still have a lot of work to do if they want to hold on to that mantle and go deep into the finals. This week the Stingrays take on the Bendigo Pioneers at Shepley Oval on Saturday at 2.00pm before the final bye in the TAC Cup the following week. This week the Bulldogs get the rest while their B, C & D squads welcome the Seagals to Mornington. Mornington will be hoping that the Bulls get the win over the Redlegs so they can sneak into the four.

Bonbeach V Frankston YCW Last week Frankston YCW lost to ladder leaders Karingal by 24 goals while the Sharks had the bye. This game will be played at Shark Park and Bonbeach will be hoping to capitalise on the home court advantage. Frankston have depth through their entire squad however their A grade seem to be inconsistent in season 2017. This game is 7 v 8 and should be a competitive game.

Mt Eliza V Karingal This game is 1 v 4 on the ladder. With both teams hotly in finals contention, it will go down to the wire. Both squads have a lot of talent boasting VNL players. Last week the Redlegs has a narrow loss to Seaford while the Bulls easily disposed of YCW in blustery conditions at Jubilee Park. A loss today for Mt Eliza could mean they drop out of the four.

Edi Asp v Langwarrin Edi Asp welcome Langwarrin to Rowans Road on the back of a 37 goal win over Pines. Langwarrin suffered a 19 goal loss to Mornington at home which must have hurt. They will be looking to bounce back today with a win. They certainly have the talent – but can they match the reigning premiers? The Eagles are sitting second on the ladder as opposed to Langwarrin’s sixth position.

Pines V Seaford Today the Pythons welcome the Tigers to Frankston North and will have a tough game on their hands. Seaford last week took care of Mt Eliza by 6 goals while the Pines girls had a huge loss to Edi. Seaford have remained in the top three position for all of season 2017 and are strong finals contenders. While the Pythons have been competitive – they will struggle today with the class and talent of Seaford.

Mt Eliza Red Legs

Last week we knew we were going to have an extremely tough round against four formidable Edi-Asp sides. The day started off extremely windy on our outdoor court, however back off towards the end of the day. Absolute credit to all four sides in sticking it out for the entire duration of the game and never giving up. Our biggest positive of the day was the improvement that we saw in all four score lines. Even though we were still beaten, the score differences improved. We are remaining positive as we play out the rest of the season with still some tough matches to go. This week will see us take on Seaford again at home. Lets hope we can continue these improvements and get four wins on the board!! Go Pythons!

Mornington Bulldogs

There was a lot on the line for A grade last week against Langwarrin with a finals spot still on the cards. Candace & Jess played a stellar game in defence and was the difference between the two sides in the end. Tess C made a big impact in the mid-court and Katey made a big impact in her return to A grade in goals. The girls ran out winners in the end. With injuries a plenty the B Grade girls had a new line-up again this week that combined superbly well for the majority of the match. Holly & Charli had a tough day in goals with the ball literally being blown sideways, away from the goal ring. But the girls adjusted well and kept working the ball under the post for easy set-shots. But it was captain, Eliza, was the leading light & was brilliant in defence. Chris was also strong through the mid-court and played a stunning game. Unfortunately the girls couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t come away with a win but the played a great game. C grade lost by just 1 goal. We played a strong 3/4 then became a little complacent in the last. We had moments of brilliance. Thank you to Jacqui C for stepping in to our depleted squad and doing an amazing job. It was a real team effort today and it was a shame to drop the game in the last. D grade had a loss & it was a game we could have and should have won. It wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t a pretty game to watch, a game that did not showcase the skills that each and every player has. Last week we played Seaford away. Keen to continue our 4 from 4 winning streak we just fell short getting 3 from 4 wins. D GRADE had a great game & showed their versatility, with some players out they still managed to get a convincing win to take them up to 4th position on the ladder (52-27). Brianna played well in both goals & the mid court while Renae got her hands on plenty of tips & intercepts. C GRADE welcomed back Karen from surgery which was a great addition to our attacking end with Tayla & Marcie. Lauren had a great game making it extremely hard for the Tigers attackers to hit the ring. The girls moved up to 3rd following the 13 goal win (35-48). B GRADE have been in great form & are getting stronger each week, this week was no different getting a 20 goal win over the Tigers (55-35). Bec & Carly combined well in goals while Karen C transitioned the ball well from defence to attack. Jo & Kate worked the ball well down the attacking end with plenty of work around the circle. The girls have worked hard to lock in 4th position on the ladder & will appear in finals. A GRADE had a few players missing this week but put on a really positive performance just going down by 6 goals (40-46). Ellie & Verona are on fire in the mid court & have a brilliant connection forming. Madelina helped out in defence this week and was a great addition to the team. Chelsea Seagulls

Last weekend saw some windy weather spoiling goals galore for both sides! Nonetheless, Chelsea won 3 from 3 in tough conditions! D grade had a close game and a great win. We started off strong and we were able to hold our lead even in the windy conditions. Every girl did what they were supposed to on court and we played like a real team. Great effort to our goalers Mollie and Sallie who shot in the crazy weather conditons, as well as Lauren and Beth who killed it in WA and C. Great effort girls, lets back it up next week. The C grade girls were ready to seek redemption against Bonbeach after our narrow loss last time we matched up. A few team changes had to be made due to injuries. The whole team stepped up and helped each other out. Our defenders worked hard and kept Bonbeach to 1 goal in the third quarter. Kiah continued her strong form and played well in a new position! Kayla also played a well and has found form since returning from injury! B Grade were also ready to continue their strong form. Our defenders were also able to keep Bonbeach to 1 goal for a quarter and only 7 goals for the match. Hayley and Dana worked together well along with Kat and Lisa working the ball into the ring. Another top, whole team effort! Looking forward to matching up against Mornington this week.

Netball Notes Frankston YCW StoneKittens

We came up against Karingal last week, and the A grade girls never gave up against a tough opposition. We made ourselves accountable and worked hard to achieve our team goals each quarter. While we didn’t achieve the 4 points the girls can be proud of their commitment with BOC going to Brooke for her drive in attack and sensational ball placement. Unfortunately the B grade girls had a loss to Karingal as well but from this are able to identify what we need to work on for the next time we meet the Bullettes! While our first half was pretty good, we let them get back in the game in the second half. We didn’t seem to want the ball as much as them and backed off and away a little too often. BOC goes to Liv for her pressure on the shot and tips all over the court. The C grade girls also were unable to match it with the Karingal girls but certainly not from a lack of trying. The effort and changes that were made worked for the most part with everyone doing their job however our goals didn’t quite hit the target. We have some more work to do at training to ensure we are in good position going into finals. The D girls (aka Dream Team) had a sensational 9 goal win. Although at times the wind made for some sloppy passes and interesting choices we seemed to step it up as a team today. BOC goes to Sophie for another amazing game in defence applying a lot of pressure to her opponent.

Langwarrin Kangaroos

No doubt the super strong winds last weekend not only hindered our goaling attempts but most likely played havoc with every goaler on the peninsula. It didn’t deter us though as we took on the Doggies at home. D grade began with determination, they were fired up, they were out to get redemption as the Doggies scored the points last time, and we succeeded. Our girls fought hard and played as one as they battled their way to a 6 goal win. Despite losing centre court player Fiona with a broken ankle in the third quarter, the girls showed their resilience and got the job done. Up next we saw a very body on body encounter in our C grade match. The game felt lost as we dropped our heads early in the second half, but we soon regained our composure and got back on track, taking the win by 1 goal. The battle of the B girls took to the court next. Mornington took the honours last time they met so we were determined not to let that happen again. The game went goal for goal for the most part until our girls kicked away in the later stages of the final term to win by 3 goals! An amazing effort from our girls on court. It then came to A grade, our girls battled hard in a very physical contest, and although we fought hard all day Mornington were just too strong and went away to win by 19 goals. We look forward to taking on Edi-Asp next, and hopefully we will come away with some positive results. Go Roos!

Karingal Bullettes

Last week we were nearly blown away from Jubilee Park by the extraordinary winds! We knew heading down to take on YCW would be a tough day on the court. D grade played great netball until half time where YC ran away with the game. Errors on our behalf certainly contributed and it’s definitely something to learn from. Welcome back Chantelle! C grade had a ripper game and took a three goal win promoting them to top spot on the ladder. Elise Mac was amazing in WD - helping Mel and Sars in defence with her brilliant intercepts. Dan and Steph were on in goals and Iz certainly contributed. Tay and Kiah combined to create a speedy mid court and fed the goalers with ease. Winning a game that went down to the wire was an excellent effort - an amazing game to watch and a great way to top off Tay’s 21st celebrations! B grade also had a super close game with everyone on court putting in 100%. Mel was superb in the centre and Em & Nadine shot well in high winds combined with one foot of defence.... A grade stepped onto the court & took control winning by the biggest margin of the day. Sammy G again effortlessly shot from anywhere in the circle. Captain Jayde was on fire in defence and with the death stares which we love! Courta is always reliable and was again amazing to watch under pressure. Another great game by this talented squad. Seaford Tigers

We took on Mt Eliza this week down at Tigerland. We manage to come out of the round with 1 win and 3 upsets. Its always a hard game up against Mt Eliza with there consistent skills and teams but all sides held their heads high and fought back with great strength. Our A side coming out with a win which was fuelled by our Fav Netball Prez, Chelsea Robs big 100th game. The victory was a hard battle throughout the 4 quarters but the girls held strong and fought hard to maintain their 3rd place on the ladder which I am sure Mt Eliza were hungry to take. We had a few scares with a few big named players going down to injury but like they say, whats a game of Netball without breaking your leg? Or did we just make that up.... I can’t be sure. Even though we came out with only 1 win out of the four it was an amazing day with amazing vibes for Chelsea’s 100th game at Tigerland. If I can end the notes with anything it would be how much we love Chelsea Robertson and how proud we all are of you. Keep on shining girl. Lets start stretching for the Pines this week. Look for their wide range of products when you next do your weekly shop! Last week we played Pines at their new courts & what a great atmosphere, despite the howling winds! It was terrific day of netball which was not influenced or imposed upon by the umpires. It has becoming increasingly noticeable this season that many clubs are using their umpires to gain an added advantage on court & there’s not much you can do about it on game day. So it was great to watch all games this Saturday that were officiated fairly & consistently. Thank you Pines for the enjoyable day & your fantastic umpiring team! This week we welcome the Langwarrin girls to the Dingley courts as the season winds down to the end. The Roo girls are always a tough opponent so we look forward to four hard fought games.
