AFL Vic Country Best Off-Ground Campaign AFL Victoria, together with Swisse Wellness, is calling on all community football fans to nominate their most dedicated and passionate off-field Australian Football champion as part of the Swisse Wellness ‘Best Off Ground’ campaign.

To enter, simply visit www.swisse.com/bestoffground to nominate your local legend by providing a photograph and a paragraph of no more than 250 words on why they deserve to win. HURRY! Nominations are now open and close on Sunday August 27.

Celebrating the unsung acts of greatness within the football community, the campaign encourages footy fans to nominate a ‘behind the scenes’ person they believe helps their club take on the season. From coaches to canteen superstars, parents cutting up oranges to umpires, AFL Victoria is encouraging football fans across the state to give their ‘three’ votes to those who inspire them in the community and volunteer their time for the love of the game, week in and week out. 2017 Swisse AFL ambassador and Geelong Falcon product Patrick Dangerfield is getting behind the Swisse Wellness ‘Best Off Ground’ campaign and is urging other Victorian locals to do the same. “I’m personally giving ‘three’ votes to my local coach Jamie McKenzie for inspiring me to pursue a career in football. Rain, hail or shine he always pushed us from a young age to be and play our best,” Dangerfield said. “It’s great to work with Swisse on a campaign that gives back to those who make it all happen. Without the efforts of the hardworking volunteers in the sport, we all wouldn’t be where we are today.” The 2017 Swisse Wellness Best Off-Ground winner will receive an unforgettable AFL experience including: • Tickets to attend the 2017 AFL Brownlow Medal Dinner • Two premium reserved seats to the 2017 Toyota AFL Grand Final

WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country Football Manager Jim Cail

• $5,000 for their nominated local footy club. There will also be two lucky runners up who will join the winner and attend the 2017 AFL Brownlow Medal Dinner.

Football Preview FINALS SPOT UP FOR GRABS by Simon McEvoy THEY’VE done it the hard way, but MT ELIZA can punch their ticket to the Peninsula league finals this afternoon. The sun was setting on the Redlegs’ season last Sunday afternoon before they found a way, nabbing a gallant Mornington on the line to win in the most dramatic fashion. James Hammond’s goal after the siren changed the direction of Mt Eliza’s season, igniting high excitement. Now the Redlegs can grab what they’ve been chasing all year, a finals berth. A strong win over bottom side LANGWARRIN today should do the job. James Anwyl has been crucial for the Redlegs in big games. He was best-on-ground in the side’s important win over Pines in Round 9, and again last weekend. Darren Booth, tough and competitive, is another key man, along with Brenton Lambert, strongmarking James Capkin and no-frills-but-effective Karl Lombardozzi. Langwarrin have plenty of motivation today. A win could see them dodge the wooden spoon. The Kangaroos will be out to spoil the Mounties’ party today, and throw one themselves. After securing a finals berth last week, EDI-ASP can clinch a finals double-chance with victory over MORNINGTON today. It’s been a whirlwind second half of the season by Graeme Yeats’s Eagles, who have strung together six wins to surge into flag contention. Edi-Asp showed plenty of spirit to see off Seaford last week, getting home by a kick in a game that had a finals feel about it. Jeremy Heys played his best for the season, while Tim Mannix, Bradley Tagg, Mark Mullins and Steve Mannix again showed their class. Mornington played fantastic footy last Sunday and were shattered to lose, after the siren, to Mt Eliza. The Bulldogs felt they deserved better, but that’s footy. Still, it proved they can play top-notch footy. The move of Warwick Miller to the forward line worked a treat – he fired off seven goals - while Jai Haddock, Josh Brown, James Turnbull, Jack Wells and Mick Gay also impressed last week. FRANKSTON YCW can put the cap on a dominant home-and-away season by beating CHELSEA. The Stonecats look like finishing three games clear on top of the ladder, and a fourth successive premiership is well within their reach.

Chelsea would love to send out coach Brett Dunne on a winning note, so we can expected a spirited performance by the Seagulls today. Back in form, PINES will look to rev-up for finals with a win over KARINGAL. The Pythons regained their attacking flare last week, kicking 18 goals, including six guys who booted multiple majors. If Pines are to make an impact in finals they will need to hit the scoreboard. The signs were good last week. Former Frankston Dolphin Luke Potts has been outstanding, showing great leadership and skill. Chewy Scanlon, Daniel Falzon, Jacob Boyle and Harley Parker were in mint form last week, along with teenager Liam Cox. Karingal has lost its past four games, but the Bulls have blooded some quality youngsters this season and their time will come. SEAFORD have fought a good battle to make the finals but, unless they can produce something special against BONBEACH today, their efforts might be in vain. Coach Ben Murphy has believed in his Tigers all along, and he’ll be backing them to get the job done today. Seaford know they can beat Bonny; they beat the Sharks by 58 points back in Round 5. The Tigers might need a similar outcome today if they’re to make finals. Seaford will look to key men Rourke Fischer, Aaron Walton, Brayden Irving, Matt McCormack, Damien Rayson, Kyle Matthews, Dean Williamson and Matt Herbert to show the way. Bonbeach (12-5, second) have looked a premiership contender for most of the season and they’ll see this as an important build up to the finals.

Football Preview TIGERS ON TOP IN THE RESERVES… Ladder leaders SEAFORD kept Edi-Asp goalless last week as they continued their march to the finals, with Kayle Henderson, Paul Vyverberg and Brendan Dawes in good form. The Tigers face a red-hot BONBEACH, which is going for its 10th straight win, in today’s finals round. MT ELIZA will be out to snatch the minor premiership when it faces LANGWARRIN. After hitting a flat spot, the Redlegs have regained their mojo in the past fortnight, kicking big scores, especially last week when Ryland Cranwell (8 goals) and Jack Nugent (7) combined for 15 majors. EDI-ASP and MORNINGTON will be happy to see the end of the season today after battling in recent weeks. Bottom side KARINGAL face fourth-placed PINES, which will be looking to rev-up for finals with a solid win. Taylor Meyer, Damian Plane and David McLaren have been in good form for the Pythons. FRANKSTON YCW can expect a competitive pre-finals contest from CHELSEA. EAGLES ON TRACK IN THE UNDER 19s… EDI-ASP will be looking towards finals but they can expect a lively contest from MORNINGTON which is playing or its season. The Bulldogs, fifth, need to win to cement a top-five spot, while a loss could see them miss finals. KARINGAL, after drilling 24 goals last week, needs to beat bottom side PINES to be a chance to play finals. Pines broke through for their first win of the season last week, great reward for coach Stella Jackson and his side, led by Grant Humphrey, Jackson Hale, Josh Howe and Kadel Key. FRANKSTON YCW, after dropping a game last week, will have one eye on next week when they face CHELSEA. MT ELIZA and LANGWARRIN meet in a top-of-theladder clash that will decide the minor premiership. Both sides are on sustained winning runs, playing great footy. The Redlegs may have revenge on their mind after losing to Langy back in Round 5. SEAFORD showed improvement last week and should be too good for an out-of-form BONBEACH.

A good day against Karingal Last Saturday. Both Seniors and reserves sides taking the points and looking to secure double chances with finals one week away. Macca was at his damaging best with 4 goals with Gaz, Tom Hogan and Dougy all playing well. Midseason recruit JP Knight also showed signs of things to come in his senior debut. In the reserves Bully’s team continue their winning streak with Donks bagging another 4 goals. The boys are ready to take on top of the ladder Seaford in today’s final round contest. This week we welcome all sponsors to our final home match for 2017. No one has more dedicated sponsors than Bonbeach and to say thanks it’s our shout with complimentary finger food, beer and wine from 1pm. President and coaches will outline finals preparations for both Senior and reserves teams. In more news the club is thrilled to finalise a contract extension for coach Steve Hughes. Steve’s results with the playing group speaks for itself and our progress as a club off field has been assisted by Steve’s commitment, hard work and genuine care of all those at the club. Steve’s integrity and alignment with club values makes him a valuable member of the Bonbeach family. We are thrilled to continue our drive for premiership success with Steve in charge’ #driventobedifferent Go Sharks!

Club Notes

Well heading into today’s last rd our focus can not steer away but worrying about what we can control. The Magoos have a big challenge in front of them as we take on 3rd spot Sharks as we battle it out for the “Chris Smith Shield”. While the SNRs have the chance to lock in a finals berth! What an opportunity! Embrace it Tiges! For our U19 group, this will be Pete McGuiness’s last game as coach. We are forever indebted to Pete for taking on the role in 2016. He has done brilliant effort with the Cubs. After a period of uncertainty at end of 2015 with changes in U16/U17 age & a large chunk of u16 2015 players looking to step up into senior club, Pete was the perfect fit to guide these young Cubs. While we had a great season in 2016 we’ve seen 2017 has definitely had its challenges. 16players moved into senior footy ranks and having a constant run of injuries, we know the positives still far out way the negatives. During Pete’s time 11 players have debut in the SNRs. That doesn’t even count the fact Curtis Murfett & Nick Braund were eligible in 2016. As we’ve seen throughout the season there are still a number of Cubs with the ability to take that next step in 2018. Thank you to all that have been involved in U19s. Thank you Shelley McLean for providing us with the action shots. Bailey Watkins, Ross Atkinson, Trev McLean, Andy Dickson, Mark Davenport & Bobby Magee, a VERY big thankyou for donating ur time as well. Most importantly THANK YOU Pete.

Club Notes Well we are here, the final game of the home & away season! Today we started all games earlier with our Seniors Women’s team playing for the first time with our men’s teams starting at 3.30pm. Hope you can all stay behind and support the girls as they finish their home & away season too before heading into finals. After the game we are all then back to the club to celebrate what was Season 2017 plus we have the $10,000 draw on as well. Everyone is invited and tickets are still available for sale on the night , so buy one as you have to be in it to win it. We got back to the good old days on Sunday at home, Mornington vs Mt.Eliza, lots of feeling in the games and in the crowd. In both the pups & seniors we put up a fight & gave the visitors a real scare leading early in both games. The pups lost their way a bit on the 2nd half but know with a win today they will secure their spot in the top 5 and can take on top of the table with no fear if they make finals. In the Seniors it came down to the last few minutes of the game, with a miss from us, a dubious free kick in the middle, then a mark in the goal square, Mt Eliza won after the siren to be 5 point winner. The Ressies were soundly beaten by a well drilled side but a big thank you to the 6 Under 19’s boys who played again to make up the numbers. Micky Gay & Stu Seager will play their last senior games for the Doggies today plus Chris Holcombe will coach his last game as Senior Coach. We thank them all for their services & commitment to our club & wish them & their families the very best. Good Luck to all the teams today Go Doggies WOOF WOOF

Club Notes

We have arrived at the Chapter 18 of the Book “Home and Away” and we welcome Chelsea Footy and Netball Club to the Coburn Oval for the final battle for four points. Finals now beckon. The Pres welcomes John Silvester today for his luncheon address to a packed audience. “Sly” will provide the entertainment off field and hopefully we can do similar on the arena. Off to Langwarrin last week and the Zephyrs continued to have an influence on playing conditions. The Unders controlled the game for three quarters, then dosed on Mogadon or similar. The Joeys pounced, held us scoreless and booted 5 large themselves to inflict a 2 goal loss. Andew Kelly stood up, Shem kicked 3 goals and Crackers went ok. The Magoos retained the Wako Cup with a clinical exhibition. Schneids provided a classic cameo, Debbo was superb whilst “Son of” Marchy and Zinzi had great games. Chappy (4) and Wako (3) provided targets. The Numeros started well, let Langy back in the 3rd quarter but reloaded and won well. Ryley relished his time up forward with five goals, Ongers and Bysa led the backs whilst Hutchy and Tony L provided mid field drive Good Luck to our three sides who have qualified for finals action The Stonekittens won three out of four against Langy. Have a squiz at their notes The Big Bash #2 is on Saturday Sept 23 for a lunch. Rohan Gazzard is MC and Sam Kekovich will impart his knowledge on matters Lamb, Life, Football and Politics. Club Notes

Well here we go again, Round 18 is upon us before we know it. Firstly, we hosted Pines last Saturday in our last home game of the Season, would be fair to say it was a disappointing day as far as the results go as we lost all 3 games. Without going into the details the 19’s and 2’s tried hard and the Seniors really let themselves down in the last Qtr, Some sole searching post game and I’m sure we will turn up this week against YCW. Just want to thank all our faithful, both supporters and our wonderful group of volunteers who devote their time every season. To the Coaching Staff, Football Department, Trainers and obviously the Players we thank you all so much. We honestly believe after some encouraging results this year the Club is in a strong position moving forward. Also big news out of the League as the CFC has been awarded the 1st 2 weeks of the Finals. Footy is alive and well at Beardsworth Ave so please make sure we all get there 26th August and 2nd of September. Also any volunteers would be much appreciated, please inquire upstairs. Also $2000 Draw coming up and Presentation Night set down for the Thursday night before the AFL Grand Final at the Club, make sure you get your tickets. Once again, thanks to all and have a good break, really looking forward to season 2018 See you at the Gullery !!

Today we welcome the Langwarrin FNC for the final Home & Away game. We also welcome our much valued Sponsors attending the Luncheon this afternoon. We hope you all enjoy the day and can stay around for the after match festivities, including “Live” music. Another successful day last Sunday at Mornington with 3 wins from 3. The Under 19’s started sluggishly and went into half time down by 19 points, however we dominated after the break, booting 8 goals to 1 to win by 23 points. Best players were Nat Turner (2), Ben McKenzie (2), Loges, Ben Farish, Smally and Sam Hallpike. Huge game this morning (1 v 2) with the winner taking top spot. The Reserves dominated from start to finish, booting 25 goals to just 1. Cranny (8) and Nugget (7) were great up forward, along with Wetters (3) and Danksy (2). Other best players were Cuz, Matt Pascazio, Buz and Benny Whitfort. The Senior game was tight early, although our inaccuracy in the 2nd term saw Mornington up by a couple of points. They led by 5 points at 3/4 time and in a thrilling last quarter that was goal for goal we trailed by 7 points with under 2 minutes left. Knotty slotted one through from in front then with seconds left “Happy” Hammond took a strong pack mark in the square and kicked the winner after the final siren. A memorable win to retain the Vosti Shield! Best players were Jimmy Anwyl, Lombo, Lambie, Boota, Heasa & Cappy. Well done to the Fraser Bayne & the MEJFC who had an incredible 16 out of 23 eligible teams in Finals last week! Good luck to the teams playing tomorrow. For all Club updates check out our Facebook Page or Twitter @mtelizafc Good luck to all sides today. Redleg.

Club Notes

On a pleasant late winters day we played host to YCW. A good early crowd was in attendance to see our 19’s have a good come from behind win. An important win like this up against good opposition at this time of year was vital. Well done to all involved . The 19’s have an exciting couple of weeks ahead of them . Make sure you come along and cheer then on in the finals. The Reserves , with a much depleted side due to injuries , struggled and were beaten soundly. In the one’s we battled hard all day. Tuddy , Church and Peachy were all good. The third quarter saw us kick a few , and play competitive footy. We need to build upon these patches of form and ensure we bring scores like this to games every week. This week we take on Mt. Eliza , always a tough and traditional rival. Good luck to all three teams. To the Seniors and the two’s let’s end the year on a positive note , and to the 19’s let’s build upon the year to date , and get ourselves into the type of form that will hopefully see us go deep into the finals. Go Langy !!!

Club Notes

I make no apologies for making this column all about the youth of our club, and want everyone in the club to enjoy watching as our fortunes change. The under 19s won! Until last week, the 19s had won one game in 3 years. With a majority of the team under 17, the boys have persevered and got better as the year progressed. Mark Philp and Stephen Jackson have coached the boys well and deserve to celebrate this small but significant step forward. This is especially rewarding given the spread of naysayers that didn’t believe we could field a team, or if we did, doubted that we’d be competitive. To the parents and supporters that have followed this team all year, I hope you enjoyed the game. The reserves had their own link to the unders with James Cornell (17) making his second debut for this team (those who’ve watched will understand), and showing us what the future looks like. A win that was ground out after a sluggish start. Well done to Corny’s boys as they prepare for finals. The highlight of the seniors was the debut by young Liam Cox and the form of the younger players. This was heartening and the side looked far more in sync and set for what’s ahead. So if you’ve done the maths, you will note that all 3 sides won, for the first time since 2013. I accept that to be competitive we need to aim high, and so there will be much greater milestones ahead, but I’m happy to celebrate this as significant for our future. Big day at the pit this week. Expect big numbers. Be early.

And so we come to the final home & away game of another MPFNL season. In what has been a challenging year for the Bulls both on and off field we look to the positives and hope to finish the season on a high note The seniors were again competitive last week for much of the game - whilst we would prefer to see the 4 points each week we know that our performances this year have been close but just need that extra % to get across the line. The Unders had a good win and with other results going their way are still alive for a finals berth - lets hope they can secure it today! Our Women’s footballers have been very competitive in their first season and under Tristan’s guidance sit 7-6 with their last game against Officer today at Ballam Park, lets hope they finish with a win Bulls Netball has again shown the way with A, B & C Grades all going on to finals next week while D Grade has been competitive every week and only narrowly misses joining the other teams Heading into the off season is when we really need our supporters to get involved.....in case you were wondering what’s in store around the club in the next 6 months hows this for a list: *Major Raffle - someone will WIN a brand new Car *ALF GF Eve function - Bigger & better each year *Presentation Night Gala @ Frankston RSL *Clubroom completion - $3.8M new home for the Bulls *Foundation Club function AND we build towards a resurgent 2018 Big thanks as always to our sponsors and here’s to a continued partnership

Bonbeach V Seaford Battle of the neighbours here! Last week Seaford lost to reigning premiers Edi Asp while the Sharks travelled to Karingal and lost to the Bulls. This week the Sharks have another tough game ahead of them taking on third placed Seaford.

This will prove to be a hard game for Pines even with the home court advantage. With the VNL season complete – Karingal should have a full squad. Minus the injured defender Renee Brewster.

Frankston YCW V Chelsea Edi Asp V Mornington The Eagles continued their winning form last week beating finals contender Seaford. Mornington lost narrowly to Mt Eliza and lost fourth position on the ladder and a possible finals berth. This week they are at Rowans Road and it is a must win for the Doggies. It is not going to be an easy task against the Eagles.

28

The Stonekittens travelled to Lloyd Park last week and left without a win but only by the narrowest of margins. They get the bye this week while their B, C & D squads welcome the Seagals to Jubilee Park.

Mt Eliza V Langwarrin Langwarrin had a narrow win last week over Frankston YCW while Mt Eliza beat their neighbours Mornington in another close one. Mt Eliza needs to win this game to remain in the four and in finals contention.

Netball Notes Langwarrin Kangaroos It’s always a good competitive day with high quality netball coming up against YCW, and last weekend was no different. Our D grade girls started full of confidence but continually had to work hard to keep the match alive. Great on court defensive efforts were applauded, but we lacked offensively, and it cost us the game in the end, going down by 1 goal. C grade entered their game on a high after stealing the win last weekend. The game started in explosive fashion, making both teams work extremely hard for every possession. We ran out three decent quarters of netball but come undone in the last quarter. We dropped our heads and stopped fighting for the ball, letting YC run away with a 13 goal victory. A very frustrating performance overall. B grade fought hard against last years premiers. We came out firing with many great passages of play, but the challenge became too much for our unsettled B babes, with YC taking the win comfortably. The shining light of our day came when A Grade took the court. They battled hard for every ball. YC looked like they had control of the match from the first whistle, but our fighting spirit proved too challenging for our rivals, allowing us to come back from an 8 goal deficit in the final quarter to win the match by 2 goals. A solid effort and a great team performance. Final round takes us to Mt Eliza, with all teams wanting to finish the season on a high! Go Roos!

Frankston YCW StoneKittens Another week another milestone with club legend Maxine Barry playing her 100th game! Well done Maxi. This week up against Langy we didn’t have the best conditions for netball. ‘A’ grade started off pretty scrappy and inconsistent with our transition. We managed to turn this around in the 2nd and 3rd quarter and ended up leading heading into the last. Unfortunately we rushed the ball and did not play to the conditions. Silly turnovers and missed opportunities meant we came off second best to Langy. Whilst disappointing for our last game for the season, we need to keep striving to achieve that top 4 position in 2018. ‘B’ grade girls had a 30 goal win but it certainly wasn’t one of our best performances. We started off on fire and the first quarter was by far our best however we found ourselves a little stuck coming out of defence and our ball placement was a bit off particularly in the 3rd quarter. BOC goes to Janno who drove down the court beautifully today. C grade were down by 3 goals at half time after a few changes that didn’t quite work however we hit the court with intent in the third working hard to ensure we had every opportunity to convert, winning the game by 13 goals. BOC goes to Jaime for her continued direction and communication on court. The D girls had a tough game today but fought hard to the end to win by 1 goal and move up to second on the ladder. BOC goes to Eve for an awesome game in GD and WD!

Chelsea Seagulls

An amazing effort by our D girls last week. It was a tight game but we were able to keep our composure and hold onto our lead to win our 4th game of the season. A great effort from by all the girls, especially our players of the day Awatea and Beth who both took plenty of intercepts and rebounds when it mattered. Well done girls!! C grade got off to a scorching start against Pines. Kiah was a killer in mid court, with beautiful accuracy passing into the ring. Meanwhile, Sallie was turning goals over in the defensive end. Our young recruit Lexie, recently promoted to C grade, was really challenged – and did she step up! Her resilience against relentless body contact was outstanding, and her efforts were well rewarded with best on. Overall C grade came away with a convincing win against Pines: 50 def 27. After a 2 point loss to Edi-Asp (3rd on the ladder) and 3 wins in a row, B grade got off to a rocky start against Pines. Dana and Hayley as a combo in goals were amazing but Pines exposed our turnovers, converting them into goals to lead at quarter time. After the huddle, Chelsea came out hungry; our defensive end causing errors in the opposition’s game to see us even at half time. Then our intensity picked up, our lead increased and we never looked like letting go. Best on goes to Kattie, who turned the game over with a ripper second half! After a year of recruitment and skill building, we’re looking forward to seeing how we measure to up the mighty YCW in the final round.

Karingal Bullettes

With our A girls having a rest this week we headed to Dingley to play Chelsea on what was a cold and windy day. All 3 teams gave it their all and didn’t give up. Our teams have improved throughout the year and as we are playing Karingal on our last game we hope they will continue to push through and give them a run for their money. A big thank you to our sponsors Frankston Hyundai, Chelgrave Contracting, A-Z Automotive and T & S Messina. We would also like to say well done to Peninsula Umpires who have been great to deal with and umpired all season for us. it’s great now to have our supporters being able to watch the netball and football in one venue and our lights will soon be installed to enable us to train there as well. As a club we are proud of the girls who have battled hard this year and never dropped their heads or complained when games haven’t gone their way. Good luck to all teams in finals we hope to be there competing in them next season with a vengence. Go Pythonettes

Edithvale - Aspendale Eagles Round 18 v Mornington The MKA - Machine Knives Australia Round A big thank you to our long time netball dress sponsor, MKA ! Noel & Vanessa have been fantastic & loyal supporters of our club since day one, when our teams first took to the court in 2010! Thank you for your years of support!! Looking forward to 2018, we will be updating our dresses. We will have a new look, new design & we’re looking for a new dress sponsor. The MKA name has been synonymous with our successful netballers since 2010 & they have received great exposure every time our girls have taken the court. If you would like yours or your business name on our uniforms for the next 6-8 years, contact Helen on 0402459531. Every girl, every game will be flying your colours alongside the mighty Eagle. What an opportunity! Last week we played Seaford at Linen House. It’s great to play the Tigers as they are always a fair & tough opposition & last week was no exception. The game of the round was definitely the A grade contest with our girls breaking away in the last quarter to grab the four points. Today in the final round of the home & away season we welcome Mornington to Dingley in what we hope will be our last “home” game there. We thank SDNA for all their support over the last three years & we look forward to our two new courts at Regents Park. The word is that these will be ready for round one next year! At last, after 8 years of a nomad existence, we will have a true home! Soar Eagles!!

Last week’s home game at the Bullpit were a success. D grade’s finals hopes are hinging on other results this week. Last week they were back to the form that we know they are capable of. Chantelle played her best game of the season and Gab continues to improve in her new role. C grade took on a much improved Bonbeach side. Extending their lead each quarter and playing with seven, Steph was a stand out when she moved to WA with her spot on feeds into goals. Kiah also impressed with her first game in GD for the season. B grade had an excellent win with the whole team contributing. A stand out in goals was captain Emily - effortlessly shooting from all over the circle. While up the other end - Michelle was intercepting everything that came her way. Ash the work horse in the mid court shut down the feeds into the goal third. A grade stepped onto the court for the final home game of the season and didn’t disappoint. Jayde played exceptionally well - even though she was sick. Mards was back in D with the captain combining well. Great work by all four squads to take the four points. This week we travel to Pines to take on the Pythons in the last game of the home and away round before we head into finals. #GOBULLS #REDWHITEBOOM

Mt Eliza Red Legs

Last week we played Mornington on Sunday, what a change it was to play outdoors with the sun shining! D GRADE had a tough game against a very physical Mornington side. Both teams had a lot to play for & unfortunately the bulldogs walked away victorious on the day by just 6 goals. Jade contributed well in the mid court while Liv & Krystal had their hands full but did a great job in defence. C GRADE were dominant from the start of the game & built as each quarter went by, they clicked in all areas of the court & walked away winning by 20 goals. Tiarne was a great addition in defence while Karen R was dominant in goals. C grade locked in their finals position with this win. B GRADE secured their finals spot a few weeks ago, but were not ready to lie down & take it easy, they too were dominant the entire game. Carly & Bec combined well in goals while Julia & Di were an absolute headache for the opposition goalers. B grade secured a handy 22 goal win. The A GRADE game was always going to be a thriller with both teams playing for their finals position. We were impressive at the start of the game & led the whole time, however were really tested by the dogs. It got down to 1 goal with a couple of minutes but the Mounties managed to maintain possession & win by just 2 goals. Bridget stepped up this week & really took control in the goal circle, while it was great to have Jess back also. Next week we play Langwarrin at home & will be hoping for 4 good wins to finish the season!!

Netball Notes Mornington Bulldogs

D grade were our only side to come away with a very exciting win against the Mounties This pushes us back into the top 4. with 1 game left and the top team being our last game to stay in finals contention, we have our work cut out for us. Best on yet again goes to the team as a whole. Every single player gets out there and gives it their all. C grade went down to Mt Eliza by 20 goals. We had 2 really well played quarters. And 2 below average ones. Best on was Melissa who gave us a pretty consistent game with some awesome passing into the goalers. Unfortunately we were outplayed by a better drilled team on the day. The B grade girls had a real battle on their hands against the Mt Eliza side on Sunday. Chris Anthony was superb through the mid-court and Eliza Tatham had a bet on court performance in defence. Jackie Eastgate also played a stellar game in goals for her first time up into B grade. Possibly the most important game of the season this was for our A Grade girls, sitting 4th on percentage just above Mt Eliza. The girls came out firing, absolutely ready to go. Jess had a battle on her hands in defence against Mt Eliza’s highly rated goaler. Tess C had a brilliant battle against her opposition centre who ran her legs off all day. Katey withstood some serious defensive pressure in the goal ring. It was a tight match throughout and the result could of gone either way but Mt Eliza came away with the 2 point win. Go Doggies

This week saw us take on the edi army and we managed to get 4 wins.... is what edi asp will be writing. :P The D grade girls put in a massive effort and was a really good game, C grades game was great to watch and saw some girls really step up and show how far they have come, B grade, we were goal for goal on the first 5 minutes... so we will take that as a win! We don’t manage to stick with the edi girls but we did have some really nice passages of play. Wasn’t out A girls greasiest game of netball, but was still a great game to watch for all of us on the sidelines. This week we take on Bonbeach at their home, let’s hope we can go 4 from 4 again and go into the last function with massives smiles on our dials
