PROUD PARTNERS OF
AFL South East On behalf of AFL South East Commission Chairman Roger Hampson I welcome everyone to the 2018 Bendigo Bank MPNFL Division Two Grand Final between Red Hill and Dromana. And I would also like to welcome participants to the 2018 Chisholm MPNFL Division One Grand Final in netball, where Sorrento will attempt to end Edithvale-Aspendale’s incredible run of four consecutive premierships. We’ve had a wonderful year of men’s and women’s football and netball, with the MPNFL seen as an outstanding competition in both sports. People outside our league often comment to me how fortunate we are to have such a strong and even competition. Divisions 1 and 2 have been super competitive this season. In Division 2 we are down to two teams, Red Hill and Dromana, with Red Hill looking to break a 28 year-old drought that extends back to 1990, while Dromana last won a flag in 2013. In Division 1 we have three teams left in Pines, Sorrento and Mt Eliza. Only Sorrento has won a flag recently, last year, with Pines having last won in 1994 and Mt Eliza in 2005. It’s a very exciting time for those clubs. The newly-implemented divisional structure has supported clubs at the other end of the scale as well. It was pleasing to see Tyabb win six games this year – as many as they have won in the last six years combined. And it was good to see Langwarrin, Chelsea and Karingal all playing finals again after a long absence. Speaking of Karingal, congratulations to their A Grade netball team for finally winning a pennant, its first in A Grade after losing the last three grand finals. And good luck to Sorrento and Edithvale-Aspendale who will fight out the Division 1 A Grade Grand Final on Sunday after Edi-Asp scored had a one-goal win over Seaford last Sunday at Mornington. I would particularly like to thank our host clubs through the finals so far. This weekend we move to Frankston Park for the final two weeks of the season, however to the Rye, Chelsea, Hastings, Somerville and Mornington clubs I say thank you. We have had record takings so far bringing financial benefit to the league and to the clubs. I would like to thank Frankston City Council, including Mayor Cr Colin Hampton, for their on-going support in hosting the MPNFL Grand Finals at Frankston Park. I ask everyone who attends this finals series, the coaches, officials, players and spectators, to keep one thing at the forefront of their mind while at the finals. Respect the game - this is sport - this is fun! The expectation is that the game is treated in a respectful manner both inside and outside the fence. Players should always play by the rules and support and encourage their teammates.
To the umpires who have been selected to officiate in these big games, congratulations on your appointments and we wish you well. Football and netball are two difficult games to officiate. Split-second decisions are made and we implore the sporting community as a whole to respect the umpire’s decision at all times. To our major partners, thank you for your ongoing support across all six of our leagues. Your support makes the competition what it is today. Please take a close look at the Partners spread across our hard copy and digital records, and websites, and please support them as they have supported our great games. We are also excited to be working closely with GameFace during this year’s finals series, bringing a greater user experience to our regular printed record. Game reviews and previews, club notes and welcome messages will all be available on video, complementing our hard-copy editions. Download the GameFace App, or go to www.aflserecord. com.au to see digital content for the FDJFL, SEJ and SEWF finals series. John Anderson Regional General Manager AFL South East

A Slice of MPNFL History A battle 78 years in the making By Doug Dyall Neighbours Red Hill and Dromana will wind the clock back all the way to 1940 when the two teams play for the ultimate prize at Frankston Park today. These two clubs have met only once in a grand final, 78-years ago when playing in the B Grade competition of the MPFL. It was 1940 and the second world war was getting into full swing. Red Hill did not have a ground that season as the old chip was under construction and they played their matches, ironically, at Dromana. Due to the war the MPFL allowed the B Grade teams to play with 16-men a side due to numbers being down with many young men enlisting. Dromana were led by the brilliant Wally Guy along with Bert Aust, Jack Cornish, Vin Hazeldine, J. Hazeldine, Jack Glover, R. Hosking, Edward Loader, Elgar Pittock, Norm Osborne, J. Murley, T. Murley, William Clydesdale, T. Lovell, Spencer Brown and Rueben Griffiths. Red Hill had Fred Volk in charge along with Les Wiseman, Merv Edwards, Harry Trewin, Leonard Murray, George Fox, Roy Setter, Rueben Edwards, Stan White, Alan De Ross, Ken Skidmore, Robert Trewin, Jack Russell, Robert Wilson, Lindsay Rigby and Jim Clark. The game was played at Frankston Park with Roy Dore, the Carrum champion, as umpire. After a very even first term, Dromana gained the advantage due mainly to some excellent play from Wally Guy and Bert Aust - champions of the era - and held an 11-point advantage at half time. In the third term Red Hill were struck a real blow with their captain Fred Volk suffering a severe leg injury which left them a man down, but they rallied and by the last change the gap was just seven points in Dromana’s favour. Dromana increased its lead with the first goal of the last term, but Red Hill was not giving in and it continually attacked only to find Guy and Aust - who had dropped into defence - repelling their every move. Merv Edwards goaled for Red Hill, which was followed by another, and spectators were holding their breath.
With seconds left, Harry Trewin from Red Hill marked about 85 yards out from goal. But umpire Dore refused to let him take his shot, stating that the bell had rang before he marked the ball. Dromana had held on to a four-point win. Best on ground for the winners was Wally Guy, along with Bert Aust, Jack Cornish, Jack Glover and Rueben Griffiths, whilst Red Hill were best served by Merv Edwards, Fred Volk, Ken Skidmore and Len Murray. Volk and Guy both kicked four goals for their respective teams. Dromana 10.19.79 defeated Red Hill 10.15.75 In Division One, Sorrento is up against Mt Eliza and these two clubs have only met once before in a final. That game took place in 1976 when Mt Eliza 23.13.151 defeated Sorrento 11.19.95 in the MPFL First Semi-Final. Len Brady and Barry Zeuschner both kicked six goals for the Mounties who went on to lose the grand final to Hastings.
Dromana great Wally Guy booted four goals in the 1940 grand final victory over Red Hill.

Drawn Finals
No finals in the MPNFL will be replayed. In the case of a draw, extra time will be played. If scores are level at the completion of the fourth quarter the field umpires shall direct the goal umpires to confirm the correct score. • Coaches are not permitted to address their players between the end of the fourth quarter and the start of extra time, nor between any periods of extra time. • Once scores are confirmed the ball shall be returned to the centre of the ground and the game will continue for two five-minute halves (with time on). • Each team shall kick in the same direction as they did in the fourth quarter for the first half of extra time. Teams will change ends for the second half of extra time. • If scores remain level after two five-minute periods, a further two five-minute periods (with time on) will be played with clubs changing ends after the first fiveminute period. • This process will continue until there is a result.

Footy Preview - Division 2 Neighbours lay it all on the line By David Nagel It’s only a short eight-minute drive from Red Hill to Dromana – but the impact on both towns will be as far apart as the North and South Poles after their 2018 Bendigo Bank MPNFL Division Two Grand Final at Frankston Park today. The gap between winning and losing grand finals – well it’s as big as it gets in sport! Two towns that have been so entwined with their history and tradition play off in a grand final at the home of Peninsula football for the first time since 1940. Dromana triumphed that day, kicking 10.19.79 to 10.15.75 to claim the third of its six senior premierships in club history. Just think about that for a minute - six premierships in 110 years – they’re a rare and precious commodity these things! And Red Hill hasn’t won a senior flag for 28 years. There’s been an air of inevitability about this one since midway through the season, when Red Hill elevated itself from promising hopeful to a fully-franked member of the premiership contenders club. The Hillmen have won 12 of their last 13 games since going down by a point to Karingal in round seven. They’ve had the better of their three meetings with Dromana, winning by six points in a classic Queen’s Birthday confrontation before the Tigers hit back with a 23-point win in round 16.
The Hillmen made it two-one for the season with a 14-point victory in difficult conditions in the second semi-final at Hastings. Both teams have class on every on every line. Two-time league best and fairest winner Chris Irving provides the inspiration for the Hillmen, while Jonah Siversen and Lachie Chandler lead the most miserly defensive group in the business. Jono Ross, Dylan Hoare, Sean Marchetti and Jake Mold can all drift forward and kick goals, with Ben Hughes used as the hit up forward in attack. Cover one, and another seems to bob up for the Hillmen this year. Dromana, well they still deserve favouritism after a dominant season that saw them finish three-and-a-half games clear of their nearest opponent. They get presented with improved conditions from the second semi-final and, if they were going to lose a final, they chose the right one. The urgency that was missing against the Hillmen in the second semi was back in abundance against Langwarrin last week and resulted in a 114-point thrashing. Can Red Hill’s defence do it again, for one final time, or will Tigers like Ethan Johnstone and Ben Holmes kick the Tigers to a winning grand final score for the first time since 2013? It’s the Tigers that will be celebrating after a thrilling threepoint victory.
Umpires As all teams celebrate making grand finals, the umpires have also been nervously awaiting the announcements of the 2018 Grand Final Umpire Appointments. Grand Finals are something to be celebrated and on Wednesday 5 September the Southern Umpires Association (SUA) supported the announcement of 2018 Grand Final appointments with a special Grand Final Appointments and Life Members Night held at the Kananook training base. Congratulations to all umpires appointed across the nine grand finals. AFL South East along with the Southern Umpires Association are proud of all the umpires that will take to the field to represent the umpiring group.
We would also like to thank all umpires that have umpired throughout the 2018 season. Umpiring can be a tough job at times but is also thoroughly rewarding with the friendships made on the training track and through being involved with matches each weekend. With that we also are looking for new umpires to join our ranks in 2019. For more information on what’s involved and how to sign up contact AFL South East Regional Director of Umpiring Carl Fletcher at umpiring@aflse.com.au

Footy Preview - Division 2 Bulls to battle the Blues and the Hillmen
By David Nagel Karingal will be out to put their fresh legs to good use when the rested-up Bulls take on Hastings in the MPNFL Division Two Reserves Grand Final on Saturday. The Bulls set the cat amongst the pigeons by rolling the Blues on their own deck in the second semi-final, winning by three points in a dour and dogged run to the final siren. Max Smith and AJ Fowler played important roles for the Bulls that day, while Travis Puntaroni and Brad Occhipinti kicked two goals each on a wayward day for the forwards. For Hastings, the Stratton boys – Kain and Taylor – kicked all five goals and will need to be watched closely by the Bulls’ back six in the big one. Kain, with five, and Taylor, three, backed up that performance with a commanding effort against Chelsea in last week’s preliminary final at Somerville. Stop the Stratton boys and the Bulls are well on the way to success. Liam Bennett, Tim Bunawan, Christian Matthews and Aaron Jack have led from the front for the Bulls this year and will be keen to bring home the silverware. But the likes of Kayne Lewis, Simon Clancy, Chris Lehman and Jake Dade-Bell have given their all for Hastings and will lead their side to a 13-point victory and the premiership silverware. Under 19s Red Hill will look to make it a perfect 20-straight wins for the season when the impressive young Hillmen take on Karingal in the Under-19s Grand Final. Red Hill has had a saloon passage through the finals series to date, defeating Rye in the second semi-final after the Demons had upset the Bulls in the qualifying final in week one. But Karingal – the second best team for the season - has bounced back impressively, defeating Somerville in the first semi-final before gaining revenge over the Demons in last week’s prelim. They have taken different journeys – but the two best teams have arrived safely and will battle it out for this year’s title. Red Hill has a star-studded forward line with Logan Sandford (63 goals) and Josh Johnson (36) contributing nearly 100 goals between them. Karingal also has some threats up forward with Anthony Beale (42), Ryan McNamara (41) and Jai Triep (40) sure to test the Hillmen’s miserly defence. This one will be a beauty, closer than expected, but Red Hill will prevail by 13 points. AFL Vic Country REGIONS PREPARE FOR 2018 V/LINE CUP
announced their final V/Line Cup Under 15 boys squad, following a series of trial games in July.
Hundreds of country Victoria’s best Under 15 players have been busily preparing for the 2018 V/Line Cup, with regional trials held across the state last month. WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country’s premier junior regional championships, the V/Line Cup, is set to be bigger and better than ever when the competition returns to Latrobe City Council in 2018. Now in its fifteenth year as the official naming rights partner of the carnival, V/Line has contributed extensively in providing the opportunity for young players to challenge themselves against the best in their age group across regional Victoria. In 2018, the V/Line Cup has grown to include two Under 15 Boys and one U16 Girls divisions, with more than 3,000 participants expected to flock to Latrobe City Council when the four day carnival kicks off on September 24-27.
Training has also begun for the 2018 Under-16 Western Victoria V/Line Cup squad with the best 24 players across the Goldfields and Western District selected following the Under-16 Western Victoria carnival at Ararat’s Alexandra Oval. Similarly, AFL Goulburn Murray, AFL Sunraysia and AFL Central Victoria kicked off their trials on July 3 with the Pioneers Under-15 regional Carnival held in Mildura. Supported by their aligned Next General Academy Club, Richmond Football Club, the players received fantastic academy sessions including hearing from key members of the Club including Brendon Gale, Neil Balme, Kate Sheahan and Dale Weightman as guest speakers at the program. All V/Line Cup squads will be finalised in the coming weeks and published on the AFL Victoria website in the lead up to the 2018 V/Line Cup carnival.
For many competing at these championships, the V/ Line Cup will be a stepping stone to AFL Victoria’s mainstream talent pathway, the TAC Cup and TAC Cup Girls competitions. In addition the V/Line Cup also provides an important development pathway for young umpires, with all field umpires at the Championships members of V/Line Umpire Academy. Eight different regions in Victoria will host teams within the 2018 V/Line Cup, which is set to return to Latrobe City council for the fourth year. The four-day carnival will kick off on September 24 and include two Under-15 Boys divisions and one Under-16 Girls division. Regions have already commenced their journey to the V/Line Cup carnival, holding a series of regional trials aiming to identify upcoming talent as they work towards finalising their V/Line Cup Squads. AFL Goldfields, AFL Western District and AFL Wimmera Mallee, in conjunction with the Western Bulldogs Next Generation Academy (WB NGA) have recently

Footy Preview - Division 1 Tipsters
Dangerous and now driven to succeed
By David Nagel A dangerous Mt Eliza will take some serious momentum and a healthy dose of belief into Sunday’s Chisholm MPNFL Division One Preliminary Final against Sorrento at Frankston Park. The Redlegs, who succumbed to the pressure of a lastquarter surge from the Sharks in round 11, came from 27 points behind against Frankston YCW last week to book their place in the final three. The Redlegs booted nine goals to two after half time, with the lively Jordan Moncrieff kicking six after the major interval on his way to a seven-goal haul. Luca Goonan was the man who sparked the Redlegs into action in the second half, slotting two quick goals before Moncrieff put on a brilliant display of finals football. Sorrento was gallant in defeat against Pines last week, but did succumb to the power and pressure of a team playing its best football at precisely the right time of year. The Sharks were right in the contest until very late in the final term and will fancy their chances of reversing that result if they get over the Redlegs this weekend. There’s no limping to the line for either preliminary finalist – ensuring a cracking grand final at Frankston Park next Sunday. The Redlegs would have learned a lot from that round 11 clash against the Sharks, with one clear message shining through as they gave up a 16-point lead at the final change. To defeat Sorrento, when anything of significance is on the line, you must take care of their superstars, with James and Mitch Hallahan driving the ball forward and Leigh Poholke and Luke Tapscott kicking some match-winning goals in the final term. It was really impressive to watch unfold and gave us a wonderful insight into the character of Sorrento’s top flight. That’s why last week’s win was so important for the Redlegs – not just for keeping their season alive but for shining a light on a resilience that will be fully tested against the Sharks. Shane Tennant has had a wonderful season down back, while James Freeman and Jordan Capkin complete a formidable three-pronged attack at the feet of Moncrieff. The in-form forward has many strings to his bow and will be an important player, not just with kicking goals, but transitioning the ball from the back half. He loves to wander and then lose his defender on the way back. This one is very hard to pick with both teams capable of playing some brilliant football at times. But it’s Sorrento, who know this ground so well and have so many happy memories to draw on, that will book a ticket to the big dance with Pines with a 13-point victory. Netball Preview - Division 1 A grand final battle for the ages By David Nagel So this is it! A wonderfully entertaining season of MPNFL netball comes to a thrilling conclusion when an emerging Sorrento take on the all-conquering Edithvale-Aspendale in a grand final battle for the ages at Jubilee Park. Congratulation to every player, every coach and everyone who has had anything to do with MPNFL netball this year. It’s been a remarkable season that gets the exclamation mark that it thoroughly deserves this weekend. And it’s a contest that nobody could have seen coming 12 months ago. Edithvale-Aspendale – the Eagles – have been soaring high above the MPNFL skies for what seems to be an eternity, winning the last four grand finals to stake its claim as the best-performed club on the Peninsula and the surrounding Districts.
They just know how to win tight and important games of netball – winning last year’s grand final against Karingal by that same narrowest of margins. The Eagles have a high-class midcourt, with Bri Hollis and Alex Ball complementing the outstanding skills of league best and fairest winner Christina Vickery. Anne Leeds, Michelle Sanders and Nicole Taylor form a repellent defensive group, while Nicole Lock, Caris MacInnes and Emily Patterson will surge the ball forward into the waiting arms of defender turned goaler Eliza McGuigan. The Eagles will be awfully hard to beat – but if any team has the talent and big-game experience to match Claire Houben and her star line up…it’s Sorrento. The Sharks rubber-stamped their credentials, and their ticket to grand final day, with a fighting second semi-final win over the Eagles just two weeks ago. The class and experience of players like Shelley O’Donnell, Alana Schaeche and Danni Taylor has come to the fore all season, with players like Ash Gladman, Bec Kelly, Bree O’Hehir, and Kate Youlten following their every move. Throw in players like Dom Taylor, Gemma Grant, Hannah Mundy, Maddi Graham and Rachel Day, and you can see why Schaeche has managed this team through to the season decider. This one – well it’s going to be classic and sure to come down to the wire. Both teams are brave, committed and strong, and have the experience to stay calm if things don’t go their way early. Expect a see-sawing contest – and for Sorrento to make the unbelievable jump from cellar-dwellers to premiership heroes in the space of just 12 months. It’s the Sharks to come from behind late and win by two goals in a thriller.
League best and fairest winner Christina Vickery has been a gun for the Eagles through the midcourt. And they take on Sorrento, a club that finished winless and at the bottom of the ladder last year before investing a mountain of effort to become one of the sharpest outfits in the MPNFL. The champs take on the challengers – this is how great grand finals are supposed to be. The Eagles, the champs, well they are rock-solid battle hardened, not only through previous experiences, but through one of the most challenging fortnight’s of netball that the club has had to endure through its magnificent run of success. A five-goal loss to the Sharks in the second semi-final was followed by an amazing game of netball last week, with the Eagles prevailing 41-40 against Seaford in one of the great contests of the season.
42
Combine a strong defensive mindset with athleticism and you have Sorrento’s Brianna O’Hehir.

Presidents Message Edi-Asp
2018 and what a year it has been! We have been hit with serious injuries, celebrated pregnancies and said adieu to players as they head overseas and yet all our teams have still enjoyed the experience of finals netball! In fact our A grade team is playing in their eight consecutive Grand Final! A huge achievement for a club that doesn’t pay players and more importantly, who do not have a home. Since 2010 we have played at so many venues. We have trained anywhere and everywhere but our girls and coaches just get on with the job and continue to bring success to our club. Well done! In relation to our courts at Regents Park, our VCAT process starts this Friday with our first hearing. Hopefully the VCAT decision will go our way and our courts can start to be built as the nomadic life is draining and tough on our volunteers and players! To all our volunteers and sponsors - thank you for all your efforts and support this year! You are the back bone of our club. To Pete, Paul, Az and Marty, well done on a successful footy year and thank you for all your help! Our seasons come down to what we produce today! Every Eagle knows the difference that this day can make and that buzz that you feel and that you will always feel, when you recall this Grand Final day. Our coaches and players have put in the hard yards and there is a great feeling of anticipation throughout our club. Best of luck to all players and coaches as i know that you have the true desire and talent to succeed today! Bring your best! Aim high!! Go Eagles! Carpe Diem! Helen Hollis – Edi-Asp President
Frankston YCW
And just like that the 2018 netball season is almost over! Frankston YCW Netball have continued to be a strong performer on the courts under the leadership of Head Coach, Jess Tobin. We have been extremely fortunate to have Jess lead the squad and guide us to 3 premiership wins over the past 2 years and also star on the court as an
A grade player previous to this. Thank you Jess for sharing your knowledge and insights with complete honesty and transparency – you will be greatly missed next year! Although our A grade team failed to make finals, they finished the second half of the season strong with some amazing wins and also some extremely tight losses. It will be very exciting to see what this team can achieve in 2019. Our B grade girls fought hard in the Semi’s against Seaford with what some might say was the ‘fightback of the year’, however unfortunately were unable to progress to the Prelims after losing in overtime. For our C and D grade teams, they are both looking to go back to back with premiership wins against Mt Eliza and Edi Asp respectively this week. These contests throughout the season have gone both ways on each occasion so expect extremely competitive and nail biting finishes – the only way YCW knows how having won all 3 previous premierships by only 1 point! Our sideline supporters have been amazing throughout the year and we are calling on you once again to get down to Jubilee and help get the girls over the line. Thank you to the football boys for your support over the past few weeks – the cheering from the sidelines has definitely been pivotal in spurring the girls on when all seemed lost. It is a fantastic to be part of a club where football and netball are so supportive of ones another’s achievements and we look forward to celebrating more success on the footy ground next year! To our coaches Tobes, Janno, Lou, Carly and Sheree – thank you for being such legends and giving up your time to recruit, train, develop and strategize in order to ensure we remain competitive. Also a massive shout out to our major sponsor Twentythree Projects for your support this year! To the amazing girls that are the “Kittens”, congratulations to all of you on an amazing season. Let’s celebrate hard, then regroup and smash it again next season. Good luck to all the teams playing in the Grand Final and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2019. Presidents Message Sorrento
While the icing on the cake is A Grades qualifying for the Grand Final, Sharks Netball is already celebrating a successful year. With just a handful of wins across all grades and two U17 premiership since the start of this competition 2018 has been watershed year. This year all teams have experienced more wins than ever before. D grade just missing out by one goal in the elimination final and the A Grades run to finals has been fantastic for the club. It has however been the other changes that have really made this a great year. The growth in community support for the netball players, the increase in supporters and crowds at the games, whole club involvement and interaction between footy and netball. The increase in enthusiasm and the players commitment to their teams and training. The leadership and mentoring being shown by our new coaching group and the senior players has lifted not only the skills of all players but their direction and drive as well. None of this could have happened without an enormous amount of hard work by the Netball Committee, coaches and players. It has truly been a team effort. Good luck to our Sharks David Croad – Sorrento Director of Netball
Mt Eliza
We are very pleased and excited to have two teams make it through to the grand final with our B and C Grade teams ready to take on some tough opposition today. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and volunteers who have played such a huge role in your successful seasons to date and we wish you well as you represent our great with distinction at Jubilee Park today. Our club is so fortunate to have a great team of hardworking volunteers and I would like to personally thank everyone involved at Mt Eliza for their fantastic support throughout the season. Every club faces its challenges but the support shown from right throughout our club makes it a much easier experience to handle. Many hands make light work I think the saying goes. Once again, the best wishes of the entire club are with our girls today as they look to compete with some great clubs in Edithvale-Aspendale and Frankston YCW. Please remember though that the entire club will proud of your efforts, win, lose or draw, and that you have already achieved some great things in 2018. We look forward to a successful day of netball and then begin our preparations for another wonderful season at Mt Eliza in 2019. All the best to all teams participating today. President – Mt Eliza Netball

Netball Grand Final Preview - B, C & D Grades Early birds to shine on the big stage By David Nagel While most of the focus will understandably centre on Edithvale-Aspendale’s quest to win five-consecutive A Grade premierships – the lower grades are also set to produce some thrilling action at Jubilee Park on Sunday. The Eagles are also involved in the B Grade grand final against Mt Eliza, and will look to capitalise on an undefeated season to date. The Eagles’ core group of players, including Jess Kirk, Belinda Francis, Britt Ryan and Holly Treverton, have not put a foot wrong this year and will be confident of success after a 39-18 win over the Redlegs in the second semi-final. But the Redlegs bounced back with 48-31 win over Seaford last week. Players like Carly Webster, Jo Camilleri and Charlie Boswell have given their all for the Mounties this year, while Shaylee Chapman is also having a very consistent season. The Eagles have not won a B Grade premiership since 2014 and will be determined to change that fact after being involved in two preliminary’s - and one grand final – in the last three years. Their time has come…it’s the Eagles to take home this year’s flag. In C Grade, Mt Eliza take on a surging Frankston YCW who has made its way through to the grand final from fourth place. The Stonekittens defeated Mornington in the first semifinal and then prevailed in a tough encounter against top-of-the-table Edi-Asp in last week’s preliminary final.
Jaime Rohan, Amy Phillips, Tyler Barry and Anna Whittaker have been superb for the Stonekittens this year, while Ruby Vine has also played her part. Mt Eliza scored a thrilling one-goal victory over Edi-Asp in the second semi-final to earn a direct passage to the big dance. Jorden McManamny, Tayla Ingram and Steph Chappel have played key roles for the Redlegs this year, and are sure to have big games again. But the Stonekittens are on a roll and will win by four goals. In D Grade the two best teams of the home-and-away season will battle it out for glory when EdithvaleAspendale and Frankston YCW kick off proceedings at 9.50am. The Eagles scored a four-goal victory over the Stonekittens in the second semi-final before YCW bounced back with a 33-24 victory over Mornington last week. The Eagles have been very consistent this year, due mainly to a core group of players led by Brooke Turner, Jacinta Hart, Taylah Baxter and Charli Wright. The Stonekittens have also had their heroes this year with Rachel Clements and Nicola Dedeugd featuring prominently at the MPNFL Awards on Monday night, while Eve Matthews, Abbey La Fontaine and Amanda Wallis played roles in their side finishing top of the table. It’s the Stonekittens to kick off a wonderful day of netball with a four-goal victory.
