Best Off-Ground campaign AFL Victoria, together with Swisse Wellness, is calling on all community football fans to nominate their most dedicated and passionate off-field Australian Football champion as part of the Swisse Wellness ‘Best Off Ground’ campaign. Celebrating the unsung acts of greatness within the football community, the campaign encourages footy fans to nominate a ‘behind the scenes’ person they believe helps their club take on the season. From coaches to canteen superstars, parents cutting up oranges to umpires, AFL Victoria is encouraging football fans across the state to give their ‘three’ votes to those who inspire them in the community and volunteer their time for the love of the game, week in and week out. 2017 Swisse AFL ambassador and Geelong Falcon product Patrick Dangerfield is getting behind the Swisse Wellness ‘Best Off Ground’ campaign and is urging other Victorian locals to do the same. “I’m personally giving ‘three’ votes to my local coach Jamie McKenzie for inspiring me to pursue a career in football. Rain, hail or shine he always pushed us from a young age to be and play our best,” Dangerfield said.

“It’s great to work with Swisse on a campaign that gives back to those who make it all happen. Without the efforts of the hardworking volunteers in the sport, we all wouldn’t be where we are today.” The 2017 Swisse Wellness Best Off-Ground winner will receive an unforgettable AFL experience including: • Tickets to attend the 2017 AFL Brownlow Medal Dinner • Two premium reserved seats to the 2017 Toyota AFL Grand Final • $5,000 for their nominated local footy club. There will also be two lucky runners up who will join the winner and attend the 2017 AFL Brownlow Medal Dinner. To enter, simply visit www.swisse.com/ bestoffground to nominate your local legend by providing a photograph and a paragraph of no more than 250 words on why they deserve to win. HURRY! Nominations are now open and close on Sunday August 27.

BEACONSFIELD 10.9.69 LOST TO CRANBOURNE 13.4.82 Beaconsfield have made a habit of starting well and it was no exception against Cranbourne at Holm Park. Another first-gamer and another first goal this time Jackson Bramich had Beacy up and about early. Two goals to Tricky Troy McDermott followed by goals to the impressive Daniel Hellyer and VFL listed Jake Arts and Beacy were in front by 20 points at the first change. Bramich kicked his second and it looked like the home side was cruising, a momentary lapse of reason cost Beaconsfield their momentum. The resulting free kick to Shaun Marusic led to Cranbourne kicking three goals and reduced the margin to 12 points at halftime. The momentum continued for the reigning premiers as they kicked the first three goals of the third term to make it 6 unanswered goals which saw a 33-point turnaround as the visitors led by seven points. Beacy kicked two crucial goals as it appeared the ascendancy had swung but Cranbourne livewire Khaled Kandakji got busy booting two goals either side of three quarter time. Luke Bee-Hugo and Ryan Jones combined for three last quarter goals as Cranbourne gathered a crucial edge finals aspirant Beaconsfield winning by 13 points away from home.

TOORADIN-DALMORE 28.26.194 DEF HAMPTON PARK 5.8.38 Tooradin were explosive out of the box early against Hampton Park, with Kyle Van Der Pluym and season leading goalkicker for the Gulls Andrew Dean combining for five of the first six goals as they led by five goals as quarter time. The second quarter saw more a spirited Redbacks side with Tim Ziegler contributing two goals in one of the best quarters for the season, Van Der Plyum kicked two more to take his first half tally to five majors as the Seagulls led by 39 points at the main change. The goals dried up for the visitors as Tooradin applied the pressure around the footy resulting in 17 unanswered goals, The Seagulls defence restricting the bottom placed Hampton Park to only 2 behinds for the half. Dean booted eight taking his season tally to 38 while Van Der Plyum kicked a career-best seven goals. A positive sign for Hampton Park was the solid contribution of their younger players who continue to show pride for the jumper and will work their butts off to finish the season on a high. Nick Lang continued his great form this season for Tooradin contributing five second half goals while club veteran Jake O’Donnell put in one of his best performances of the season with three in their 156-point win.

OFFICER 6.8.44 LOST TO BERWICK 10.15.75 Berwick couldn’t capitalise on early opportunities against Officer at Starling Rd. The Wickers amassed eight scoring shots but resulted in only 1.7 and a lead of only three points at the first break. Officer dug deep and pulled out all the stops to put pressure on the premiership favourites. The Kangaroos have shown plenty of grit and determination when against the stronger sides in the competition as shown by the home side only trailing by four points. Officer continued to play committed football really taking it up there fancied rivals, when Roos young gun kicked truly from point blank range their lead extended to 10 points. The threat of their first loss of the season sparked Berwick into action. The ever reliable and hard running Luke Sheppard kicked a goal late in the third term to provide them with a sniff. A seven goal to one last quarter including two clutch goals to the dangerous Harry Money and the Wickers looked home. Berwick’s leaders stood up again when it was needed most as they proved too be too strong again bringing up win 15 by 31 points.

DOVETON 10.6.66 LOST TO NARRE WARREN 15.18.108 The second Saturday Night match in a row at Doveton saw traditional rivals Doveton welcome Narre Warren. A.J Robinson Reserve hadn’t been a great hunting ground for the Magpies in recent times their last win was on 2014. It was important for the visitors to start well and they did, kicking four of the first five goals as they led by 21 points at the end of the first quarter. Doveton big man Rus Gabriel was met by up and coming ruckman Troy Mengler who worked hard to nullify Gabriel’s influence. Narre’s midfield started to outwork Doveton, Trent Cody and Josh Tonna was finding plenty of space and using the ball well to deliver plenty of supply to Nick Scanlan and Dale Gawley. The Doves were working hard in an even second quarter but Narre still managed to extend their lead to 28 point at the main change. The third quarter was when Narre Warren were able to restrict Doveton’s run and scoring potential. Col McNamara found space and kicked a great goal as the Magpies strangled Doveton to one point while kicking three goals of their own in the third to put the result beyond doubt leading by 50 points with a quarter to go. After starting the game as a swooper across half-back Doveton’s Ryan Hendy moved into the forward line with instant success. Hendy booted four final quarter goals but it wasn’t enough to get them close enough to strike. Scanlan had a great tussle against Matthew Jameson, but Scanlan managed four goals in their momentum building 42 point win, making it five in a row for perennial finals Narre Warren.

BERWICK V BEACONSFIELD Last Time - Round One Beaconsfield 5.3.33 lost to Berwick 7.9.51 The longest standing rivalry in local football circles meet again in the final round of the season. Both teams met in Round One, with Beacy taking it up to Berwick for three quarters, before the Wickers stood tall in the crucial moments. It was a defensive game with both teams restricted to their lowest scores of the season. It set the tone for the rest of the season as Berwick’s leaders have risen to every challenge and take their unbeaten run of 15 games into the last game of the home and away season. Beaconsfield wouldn’t want anything more to be the only team to defeat Berwick in Season 2017. The Wickers have been supreme all season with winners spread across each line it wouldn’t surprise me if they had at least 10 players in the team of the year. Beaconsfield were considered to be a genuine threat at spoiling Berwick’s applecart but back-to-back loses to finals counterparts Doveton and Cranbourne have many experts scratching their heads as to where the Eagles actually sit. Are they real contenders? Beacy’s effervescent youngsters will be put to the test against the big bodies of Berwick. Berwick have been finding ways to win and will be looking to secure another win at home and keep their undefeated season intact. Berwick by 55 points.

CRANBOURNE V DOVETON Last Time - Round 4 Doveton 8.8.56 lost to Cranbourne 12.10.82 The second place Cranbourne welcome fifth placed Doveton in a game that provide an insight of what we can expect to see in the next month of finals. With ladder positions finalised it will be a matter of which team can build momentum into the finals series. It appears that Cranbourne haven’t been playing their best football this season, they’ve set themselves pretty high standards in recent seasons. A position second on the ladder would be taken by seven other clubs desperate for their tilt at glory. Doveton have struggled against the top of the ladder teams this season their only major scalp was defeating Beaconsfield twice who sit one ladder position on top in fourth place. Cranbourne are finals specialists you don’t make five consecutive grand finals by fluke and this weekend could be the confidence boost to get back to the best. Rumour has it power forward and club captain Marc Holt returns for his fifth match of the season his presence will provide Coach Simon Goosey another weapon to be used in attack. Doveton finished the game off well against Narre Warren and The Doves will hope midfield jet Nick Battle returns to his best form which had him in contention for the league’s best and fairest a month ago. It’s cliché but the contest will be won in the midfield. Sam Raru is another Doveton midfielder strong at the contest against a midfield brigade full of grunt ready to stop Raru in his tracks. Cranbourne look to be building towards their chance to win back-to-back premierships and Doveton appear a small hurdle in their way. Cranbourne by 31 points.

NARRE WARREN V TOORADIN-DALMORE Last Time - Round 4 Tooradin 11.14.80 lost to Narre Warren 20.8.128 With a double-chance secured Narre Warren will enter the contest looking for their sixth straight win and ensure their confidence levels are high entering finals. Tooradin only have themselves to blame missing out in September action again this year. The Seagulls have improved throughout the year and haven’t been manhandled by their opposition. Injuries and suspensions will test Tooradin’s depth this week but they have a forward line that’s firing on all cylinders with plenty of avenues to goal. Narre were written off during the middle part of the season, The Magpies appeared slow and their scoring potential was dysfunctional nothing appeared to be working for the boys from Kalora Park. Fast track this to now as we close in on finals and they have reappeared as a genuine finals threat. Both teams have a mountain of respect for each other but as we have seen all year, Tooradin will provide a window of opportunity for their opposition to expose them at crucial times in the contest. Nick Scanlan has ensured his name will be further etched into the history books winning the league goalkicking but may find it hard to shake Tooradin’s captain Adam Galea. Recently re-signed Seagulls Coach Lachie Gillespie will be hoping his troops put in a full 120-minute performance and propel them into a huge pre-season having them geared up for Season 2018. Narre have worked too hard to get themselves back into this position and will win by 27 points.

HAMPTON PARK V PAKENHAM Last Time - Round 8 Paken 16.21.117 def Hampton Park 3.3.21 The winless Redbacks welcome the eighth placed Lions in a crucial contest for both clubs. It could be the last time we see Hampton Park playing in the South East FL, while the proud Lions have had a season to forget under first year coach Ash Green. After a turbulent pre-season with a mass exodus at both clubs, results haven’t arrived on the field they were hoping for. Hampton Park showed some promising signs in the first half against Tooradin last week, a sustained performance like that could put Pakenham under pressure. Pakenham’s form themselves has been patchy, with a good quarter here or there separated by a drop in focus and they quickly found themselves out of the contest. A loss here for The Lions will be a tough pill to swallow and will need start their pre-season on the back foot. A cloud of uncertainty has hovered over the young Redbacks especially with conversations about the leagues future continuing to be discussed. The Redbacks deserve a win more than anyone, it would be a massive blessing in disguise as their young troops week in and week out continue to fight and prove themselves at senior level. Pakenham on paper have the class edge which was reflected in their Round 8 encounter when Pakenham had 37 scoring shots to six and the margin could have been worse if it wasn’t for The Lions inaccurate kicking in front of goal. Unfortunately for the home fans it appears Pakenham might get their second win of the season by 48 points.

Last week the seniors, reserves and under 19As travelled to Beacy while our 19Bs took on Narre Warren B on Friday night.

double chance for this year’s finals campaign. But first we need to account for Doveton this week at home. Best were, Yoz, Ozz, JB, Micky B, Tar and Cheekers.

The 19B’s started their game well and were in it right up to early in the 4th quarter where we let Narre get away to record a five goal win. We need to win one of the last two now to ensure our spot in the finals. Best were Hodgey, BOT, Jack Benham, Mitch Jelo and Johnno Lucas.

This week we welcome our old foes the Doveton Football Club to Frenken Homes Oval as we also look forward to hosting our premiership heroes from yesteryear as we celebrate the ’87 Senior/Reserve successes.

The 19A’s were set to continue on their good form and hopefully snatch a top two spot to enable the double chance but that wasn’t to be. We let Beacy get away early and while we stayed in the game for the entirety, it came down to discipline that we lost the game. Giving away 50m penalties and down-the-field frees when the game is on the line is not going to cut it against quality opposition. Still, we have a chance to redeem ourselves as we look towards Doveton this week and finals in September. Best were Stiglich, Ramac, Bower, Roth and Abaloz.

Events Cranny Cup tickets are for sale and extremely limited. Out of 120 we only have 15 left at the time of writing. See the flyer on this page to secure your spot at the Cup before all tickets go. Good luck to all teams today. Go Eagles!!

The twos were desperate for a top five scalp and were very slow to get going from the start as we conceded the first four goals of the game. We worked our way back in to it but were never closer than what the final margin was. Best for us were Harks, Jake, Lewi, Chaz, Millsy and Robbie Bakker. The ones also got away to a slow start, allowing Beacy to kick the first three goals as we trailed by that margin at ¼ time. We reduced the deficit to only eight points at the main break and by ¾ time we had worked our way in front by the barest of margins. Fortunately for us the final quarter was our best as we went on to win by an unconvincing 13 points. Regardless, the win secured a top 3 spot and

Last weekend we celebrated our Indigenous round against Narre Warren. Both clubs, coaches, presidents, league representatives, players, supporters, parents and many more participated in The Long Walk which is to raise awareness for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wellbeing and is inspired by Michael Long. It was then followed by a flag ceremony and speeches inside by Leon Egan and Jenna George. At the Doveton Football Netball Club we are privileged and honoured to host such a significant day which means so much to many of us throughout the club. We would like to thank Emma Thomas who arranged the half time Auskick. Also a massive shout out to Cass Hackett and Aunty Helen who worked all through Friday, up until Saturday night to make sure the day was a complete success. Without you guys, days like these wouldn’t be possible. The 19s battled hard for 2 & a half quarters but were undermanned and tired legs got the better of a gallant group again. Ricky Johnson was best afield for the Doves.

us from a much larger defeat. Back to the drawing board this week for our last home and away game of the season against Cranbourne before we enter finals. A massive congratulations to Big Russ and his wife Sam who had a beautiful baby boy over the weekend. Big Russ received the news that Sam was in labour during the 4th quarter of the night match!! ! Also a massive congratulations to our caption Shannon Henwood, who proposed to his now beautiful fiancé Lou on Sunday! It’s been a big weekend down for the Doves family! Good Luck to all teams who play their last game for the home and away season this weekend again Cranbourne at Casey Fields. It’s been a wonderful season on and off the field and we couldn’t be any prouder of all sides this season. Go doves!! #doveylove

The reserves came up against an undefeated Narre Warren for our indigenous clash Saturday night and fell short by 33 points. The boys played some good footy, and will learn from the loss. Marvin was great in the ruck, whilst Shaun and Sean played well around the ground. The seniors came up against a fast paced Narre Warren side and the wet conditions had truly set in by the time they took the field. Again injury played a big part in our game, and Narre Warren kicked away early and we tried to play catch up Football for the rest of the match. Jake Blackwood and Big Russ both dominated in the midfield for the whole match accompanied by Jamo who was strong down back. Ryan Hendy moved up into the forward line for the last quarter which gave our boys a strong target to kick to. Ryan kicked 5 brilliant goals, which kept

Congratulation’s to one of Narre’s favourite sons Col McNamara who plays his 200th this week. “Gas” has been a star at Narre for over 10 years with 5 senior Premiership flags to his name and reputation as a super hard worker who has got the best out of himself both on and off the field. well done VP! Also well done to the Super’s who have made it to the first final series in just their 3rd years. Huge effort from Jack, H, Heinzy , Joffa to get this team up & going.

solid performances in 2nd & 3rd quarters had us with a strong 40 pt lead Dropped off a little & 2 silly 50m penalties resulted in 2 goals against. Daniel Jackson with 5 goals was a stand out in tough conditions while Andy Ray , Chris Collins ,Brent Urwin were a few off our better players. Under 19A –

Round 17 Footy Review

19A’s played Doveton away Saturday afternoon in probably the best conditions of the day.

Narre took the points against Doveton in seniors, Reserves and Under 19 A; while our 19 B had a great win against Cranbourne.

After being 5 points down at 1/4 time our boys played a better 2nd quarter to lead by a goal at the break.

Seniors – Narre’s Ones were strong early, forcing Doveton to throw their resources into defence to stay in touch in the first half. We had to work hard for our goals but Josh Tonna, Trent Cody and Michael Collins were controlling the midfield and keeping up supply to our forwards. Young Troy Mengler was fantastic in the ruck contests against Doveton’s bigger, more experienced personnel. Narre had the game in our keeping at the last change with a 50-point lead, despite our inaccurate kicking. Disappointingly, we let Doveton in for a few cheap late ones as they stuck better than us to their task for the full four quarters. Nick Scanlon (4 goals) and Jake Richardson were lively up forward for Narre, and Joel Zietsman was another solid contributor.

Playing a better brand of footy in the second half Narre pulled away to eventually win by 68 points.

Reserve Starting in daylight then into night time , unusual but exciting , good crowd 1st v 3rd on ladder Needed to get off to good start , goal from first bounce & clearance dominated the quarter with 9-1 scoring shots but only kicking 2 goals wasn’t ideal,

4 goals each to Maxy Sheppard & Pete Gentile and Jack Toner kicked 2. Best players were Jack Toner, Jake Stuart, Max Sheppard, Paddy Andrews & Kyle Grigg. Under 19B – Our B side headed to Casey Fields for a Friday night encounter with Cranbourne B. Cranny got the first 2 goals of the game and looked the better side early. Eventually Narre found some momentum and used the breeze in the 2nd quarter and led by 11 points and the half. Cranbourne then took advantage of the wind with only 1 point separating the sides at 3QT. With some fresh legs going through the midfield and the wind increasing in the last Quarter, Narre took control of the match kicking 6 goals to 0 running out winners by 30 points. Mark Bartuccio was prolific throughout the match and help set up a good victory for our boys. He had solid help from Zac Gullivan and James Milovojevic, while Brodie Jamison was great up forward kicking 4 goals.

Where did that season go, blink and you could miss it, again we were a little disappointed with how we finished, just those lose’s to Officer come back to haunt at this time, you look back and just cringe. Now for the future look of the league that still hang’s in the balance, you think there would be an out come by now, i just hope they don’t muck this up, playing with 8 team’s is just not going to work, have no fear we won’t be hanging around if that is the case. Great shame to see Asiake outed for ruck contest at Berwick the other week, whilst we are dissapointed in the outcome, that's football and we move on to the last round. Anyway we head down to Narre this week for our last game, I wish the boys luck as they take on one of the best for this season. Good luck to all. I’d like to thank all the player’s, committee, and sponsors for all your hard work this year, THANK YOU Good luck to the 19s and reserve’s and to our girl’s good luck come final’s time, we know you’ll do well..

Last weekend we ventured down to Tooradin for the penultimate round of the season. Once again with help of some fill ins we were able to get the Reserves up for a game. The boys fought out the game to the very end scoring a couple of goals in the final quarter to reduce the margin below triple figures. Better players on the day were S Puwaye, N Dawes, D Ward, D Asling & M Phouttanouvong.

Club presentation is to be held on Saturday 23rd September at Amberlee Receptions 1451 South Gippsland Highway Cranbourne at 6.00pm. Ticket $ 50-00 includes 2 course meal & entertainment. Dress code semi formal. All details on facebook or web page.

The seniors played a good first half of football however were overrun in the second half. Better players on the day, H Brough, L Belton, J Philpin, B Keyzer, J Craig & T Ziegeler. This week we have our final game for the season against Pakenham at home. Last saturday’s back to school function was a great night well done to organisers, would have been good to see a few more players there. The club would like to thank all volunteers and sponsors whom without there assistance the club would not be able to function. As a football/netball club we provide facility for locals to participate in community activities. Thank you all for your support.

After a hard year on the ground, our season in the Seniors and Reserves comes to a close for season 2017 today at Hampton Park. Unfortunately our year hasn’t been as successful as we would of hoped. However our Under 19s have been going well and will be playing finals this year. We wish our under 19s all the best in the finals series. On behalf of the Pakenham Football Club committee, we would like to thank all of our Sponsors, Members and Supporters for sticking with us for the year. We will come back bigger and better next year. In reference to the AFLSE review into the regional, divisional proposal, It is important to make it known to our members and general public our thoughts and intentions regarding the proposal by the AFLSE Commission, to allay any rumours of our standing in this process.

We have no obligation to restrict new clubs coming into this league or other leagues that we may compete in and in fact look forward to new challenges in a divisional format. Again, we reiterate, our preference remains to merge SEFNL / MPNFL together to form what would be a much needed divisional structure. We look forward to a positive outcome from the review process and trust that the correct proposal will be put in place to enable starting points for new clubs to enter this league and enable existing clubs to strive under a well governed and run league. We will keep you up to date with announcements as they come to hand but in the meantime please remember that we are acting in the best interests of the Pakenham Football Club & Pakenham Lions Netball Club.

The Pakenham Football Club & Pakenham Lions Netball Club fully supports the AFLSE review into divisional football. Our preferred option is for a divisional football / netball structure in conjunction with the Nepean and Peninsula Football Netball Leagues. While we are disappointed that we cannot announce anything as yet to our members, supporters, players, officials, partners and stakeholders, we remain committed to our players and coaches to ensure the best competition is available to them to apply their skills. We are also committed to our members and supporters for the provision of the best standard of local football and netball as spectators, and the broadest range of opportunities for our partners / sponsors and stakeholders. Our aim is, and always will be to keep our clubs striving for on and off field success as well as continuing in our community engagement regardless or our opposition clubs / leagues. In saying this, it has always been our objective to remain aligned with the current SEFNL clubs whom we have formed a strong off field affiliation with, weather that be in the same or separate divisions, but regardless within the same league or association.

BEACONSFIELD 33 LOST TO CRANBOURNE 34 Cranbourne started their encounter against third place Beaconsfield in fine style, shooting 11 goals while the dynamic defensive duo of Tara Cecil and Sharni Lambden restricting Beaconsfield to a measly five goals. As all good sides do Beacy responded in the second quarter getting themselves back into the contest outscoring Cranbourne 12-5 to take a slight edge into the main change. Cranbourne’s midcourt was well led by Alannah Hardy before moving into attack to help bolster their scoring power. Cranbourne continued to apply pressure on Beaconsfield and fought the contest out getting in front at the vital time winning by a goal in a confidence building win going into finals.

DOVETON 41 LOST TO NARRE WARREN 51 Doveton welcomed Narre Warren under lights at A.J Robinson. Doveton had the toughest run home of all sides competing for September glory, after defeating Tooradin and Beaconsfield in consecutive weeks the Doves were stock full of confidence going up against the ladder leaders. Doveton managed to keep the margin close only behind by 3 goals at halftime. Doveton had a restricted strike force as Rahni Samason was unavailable due to injury, Chelsea Imansiani was standing tall in goal attack. Reigning premiers Narre Warren turned the screws in the third quarter, out shooting The Doves 16-7 to take an unsurmountable lead. Chloe Phillips and Gabby Dwyer combing well around the goals making it hard for the Doveton defence to have any influence, as the Magpies maintained their lead in the last quarter winning by 10 goals.

ROC 48 DEF BERWICK 45 ROC finished their season in fine fashion, welcoming the Wickers to their home court at Starling Rd. The game was close throughout the first half with neither team able to gain the ascendancy. ROC started to get on top with Ash Barnett controlling the centre helping supply Courtney Linhart plenty of scoring opportunities. The Kangaroos played some of their best netball for the season in the third quarter extending their lead to five-goals as Linhart shot perfectly for a return of 10 goals for the quarter. The Wickers lifted their intensity in the final quarter with Sarah Nash turning the tables on Barnett but they couldn’t close the gap going down by three goals.

TOORADIN-DALMORE 55 DEF HAMPTON PARK 27 Tooradin returned to their form seen earlier in the season in a dominant performance against Hampton Park. The Gulls got to work early and set the tone for the match as they dominated many of the one-on-one contests. The Alex’s combination of Alex Duff and Alex Maher were commanding the ball inside the shooters circle and they didn’t let their team down establishing an early lead. The Redbacks couldn’t get themselves into the contest at all, if it was for a diligent effort by their defenders Brooke Kiely and Karlie Foster the damage could have been a lot worse. The Seagulls got a great tune up as they take on the ladder leaders Narre Warren in a contest between the best two sides in the competition.

BERWICK V BEACONSFIELD Last Time - Round One Beaconsfield 52 lost to Berwick 40 Berwick will play their last game of the season against finals bound Beaconsfield. Berwick have shown plenty in the second half of the season and have established genuine building blocks for the club going forward. Beaconsfield enter the contest after suffering back-toback loses against teams playing in the finals. Beacy Coach Simon O’Shanassy will desperate for his side to return to their winning ways quickly as possible. Berwick will be up for the fight and ready to bring their best and will test Beaconsfield for long periods, it will be interesting to see if the young Wicks can sustain that pressure for the entire match. As we saw in their first encounter earlier in the season, The Eagles class will rise and secure their position in the Top-3. Beaconsfield by 7 goals.

CRANBOURNE V DOVETON Last Time - Round 4 Doveton 48 def Cranbourne 46 Doveton’s tough run will come to an end this week as we will see a preview for the elimination final next week between Cranbourne and Doveton. Both teams have shown enough during the second half of the season that they are a genuine finals threat and will be looking to get the psychological edge going into the sudden death final next Sunday. Both teams have beaten finals contenders over the past fortnight and seem to be playing their best netball at the right time of the season. Doveton have shown at full strength that they are a chance of beating any team in the competition, while Cranbourne rose to the occasion and handed Tooradin their first loss of the season. This will be a cracker of a contest and go down to the wire. It’s a hard match to choose a winner could The Eagles pick up their third draw of the season?? Cranbourne by 1 goal.

NARRE WARREN V TOORADIN-DALMORE Last Time - Round 4 Tooradin 47 def Narre Warren 43 This is shaping up as match of the season in the final round of the season. The two top placed sides will face off to show which team is truly number one. Narre have been storming their way through each team this season, their last loss was against Tooradin who was in red hot form. Both teams have only lost twice this season and are only separated by less than 10%. Last year’s premiers Narre Warren have a strong mid-court who can dominate possession, but they won’t have the game on their terms for the whole match. There will be fantastic individual contests across the court with both teams looking to try and get the early momentum. Narre are gunning for their 14th consecutive wins and won’t want to lose against a team they could meet again on grand final day. Tooradin haven’t been playing at the same level as see saw earlier in the season but Coach Kelly Andrews will be hoping the Tooradin girls can flick the switch and come back to life at the business end of the season. In an intense atmosphere home court advantage might be enough for Narre to get the win in Britt Mashado’s 200th match. Narre by 3 goals

HAMPTON PARK V PAKENHAM Last Time - Round 8 Pakenham 34 lost to Hampton Park 55 The only match without finals implications is Hampton Park taking on Pakenham. The season will draw close for both teams before 4pm on Saturday. Hampton Park’s progression has stalled as their finals chances slipped away. Pakenham have had a difficult season as they team goes through a transitioning season and will be looking towards a strong preseason over summer. Hampton Park will be out to regain sixth position on the SEFNL ladder, although still four games off a finals birth it’s not a dramatic fall from grace and the Redbacks can re-build over the summer towards next year. Pakenham won’t be a walkover, as the Lions have taken it up to some of the best sides in the competition during the year. If the Lions can be within a sniff in the last quarter they may rise to the challenge and secure their first win of the season. Hampton Park by 4 goals.

berwick As we headed to ROC, this round gave us an insight how far a few of the Junior teams have come when we take a look back on the score line in round 8. With no wins in any of the junior games, apart from 17 Whites, we were looking to see the improvement and the momentum these teams have had during the season. Starting the day strong with Mel Guic and her 13 Whites coming away with a substantial win. This team was beaten previously by 19 goals, this time coming away with the 4 points - 19-14. These young players hold themselves in the top 2 leading into the last round. A superb effort by all. Janelle Snelling and her 13 Reds knew today would be tough, with a couple of outs, young Deedee Loulanting was brought up from the 2’s and what a stellar job she did in the midcourt. Although the girls didn’t win, they lessened the margin on the previous round by 4 goals, this time going down 22-33. Super proud of their efforts leading into the finals run. Bridget Arthurson and the 15 Whites drew last time around, which made for an interesting game on their hands. With so much versatility in this team having both Sophie Castricum and Monique Mitchell share the midcourt with Jasmine Corless and Eliza Angenent, this group of young ladies came away with an awesome win 25-18. Coming up next week against Beacy, one of 2 teams these girls have gone down to in narrow margins, their last home and away game is going to be a ripper.

fighting spirit in both games across 4 quarters. Sarah Nash and 17 White girls had a seesaw match with the lead changing at every quarter and momentum constantly swaying between both sides. A mere 3 goal deficit was all the separated them from ROC in the end, a very respectable loss however and should keep them in good stead going into the final round of the season. Janine Kilmartin and her 17 Reds unfortunately couldn’t carry their winning form from the previous week, going down by a lengthy amount at the final whistle. The Senior group of our club did not have the best of days when you look only at the scoreboard, with some hard losses for our girls. The perseverance and attitude of the squad as a whole, is something beyond commendable by this group of young ladies. It isn’t an easy task going through a rebuild season and realising that the hard work you are putting in at this current time, although disappointing, will be more than rewarding in the future seasons. BNC is so thankful to each and every player in A, B, C & D Grade, for stepping out on the court each week, putting on a smile, wearing our dress with pride and being an integral part of whats to come. We welcome Beaconsfield to Edwin Flack Reserve this week for the final home & away match and the last Battle of the Creek for the year. The Club looks forward to a great display of sportsmanship and athleticism to cap off what has been the 2017 season. Go Wickers!

Unfortunately Leanne Walford and the 15 Reds didn’t come away with a win this time around, narrowing their loss by a minor margin of 6 goals, showing just how serious these chicks are leading into finals. A battle with Beacy this coming round, will certainly sit them in great stead for finals fever in the coming weeks, keeping them at 4th on the ladder. Our 17’s squad were very competitive on the day and showed

B Grade completed their final home game of the regular season with a strong & controlled win over Cranbourne. Always dangerous, the Cranbourne girls kept with Beacy for the 1st 1/2 of the game with some excellent mid-range shooting. Courtney Davey & Gabbi Stinear in defence managed to put on extra pressure over the shot & were able to clean up the majority of rebounds to provide the attack end with additional ball. Swift movement & carrying of the ball down court through Ciara Nelson & Mel Davies, ensured great delivery into the shooting circle. Pulling out a 16 goal win in the lead up to finals was encouraging for the girls. Key will be to ensure the momentum & effort remains at a high level, especially going into the traditional Battle of the Creek final round against Berwick next week. Awards: Kids Room-Courtney Davey & Ciara Nelson, Khans Restaurant-Gabbi Stinear & P3 Recovery-Mel Davies. C grade came up against Cranbourne & had a nice win in windy conditions. Happy to see us apply a lot of pressure around the ball & work hard for each other with options presenting at all lines. Keep up the good work team! Awards: Mia, Caity, Paris & Jordan. D Grade-Playing against Cranbourne this week we played with unity & intensity. Our ball movement & backing each other was our best for the season. All aspects of our game worked well from our tight work in defence to our mid court & to our great movement by our goalers. Great win.

Awards: Millie, Mikayla & Jemima 15 White lost against Cranbourne in a game where we just started out slow & had to play catch up for the rest of the game. We needed to see a lot more control of the ball down the court like in previous weeks, so let’s hit the training track with this in mind. Thanks heaps to Casey, Bella & Imogen for filling in this week. Awards: Jamie, Paige & Sophie F. 13 Red-The girls had a fantastic game against Cranbourne. With perfect winter weather conditions, the girls were able to play with such confidence & intensity. It was also great to see all areas of the court contribute to the game. With consistent defensive pressure by everyone, we were able to capitalise on turnovers with the final score reflective of our efforts. Awards: Darcy, Bella & Tiarna 13 White team made many positional changes every qtr to highlight just how versatile the team really is. Every player accepted any position given & ensured they maintained team structure & natural flow of the ball. Defensive pressure is an area the team has worked hard on & this is certainly impacting opposition. Well done to the girls for a 45 goal win. Awards: Lauren Clark & Sami Lane.

17 Red-With 3 of our key mid-courters out due to injury, it was impressive to see the girls still manage to produce the win. Looking forward to finishing off the home & away season with the Battle of the Creek. 17 White-This week the girls welcomed Cranbourne for the last home game of the season. Beacy started well applying fantastic defensive pressure which resulted in many intercepts through the centre court. The 2nd qtr saw the attack end come together to gain a strong lead going into the 1/2 time break. Feeding into the goalers was fantastic & saw the Beacy girls come away with a great win! Thank you to Sophie from the U15 White’s who played a full game in GS. Great job Soph! Awards: Mikaela, Zara & Hannah 15 Red-Another tight game this week, the girls worked hard in the defence to get the ball back down the attacking end. A few missed opportunities saw us down by 4 goals at 1/2 time. The team kept fighting & moving the ball well to only lose by 2 goals.

he club would like to congratulate Tara Cecil who played her 150th senior game against Beacy last week. Tara has played all of these senior games in our A Grade side, which is a fantastic achievement. Also a congratulations to Georgia Blackney who played her 50th senior game. As we now play our last game for the home and away season I would like to congratulate all the teams for their efforts throughout the year. Well done to all the teams that have made it into the finals series and good luck to the teams that are trying to secure their finals spot today. To the teams that have unfortunately missed out well done for giving it your all and improving over the year. And finally I would like to thank our coaches and team managers for their effort throughout the year. To our coaches Donna, Bella, Ellen, Sally, Steph, Sarah, Kelly, Jade, Nicole, Paul, Clare, Adele and Emily thank you for your time and effort this year in coaching your teams. To all our team managers Gayle, Lea-Anne, Rachel, Caroline, Lorna, Rachel, John, Tania and Bec thank you for everything you do each week by entering team lists, printing score sheets and entering scores after home games. We appreciate all your time and effort. Good luck to all teams today against Doveton. Go Eagles!

Last weekend we welcomed Narre Warren Netball Club which was a brilliant display of netball before we enter the finals series. Match of the day would have to go to our U17’s Red team! They lead from the first centre pass and didn’t look back! Keep up the amazing work ladies & their superstar coach - JB!!!! U13 White: Baby Doves we started off slow which gave Narre a no lead it was hard for us to find leads down the court come the 3rd quarter the girls finally woke up and wow what a massive effort in the second half of the game. So proud of my 7 girls this week BOC went to Dakota she played an amazing game. U13 Red: Wow! What can I say about these little legends... Never have I ever been so proud of these girls. Going down to Narre by one means nothing to me, you girls were winners today not only for me but for yourselves. You played as a team, you wanted it, you gave it everything you had and no matter the score you were winners. To watch you all stand together to support one of your fellow baby doves was amazing and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

U17 Red: Well Well Well Big special mention To 10 special young women.. Today was about just competing. And boy did we not disappoint... I have always believed we can play at that standard.. It was if you all believed. Today you all showed if you turn up, play with that intensity, we are a fantastic side... Congratulations to all of you. Big couple of weeks, let’s see if we can keep it. J.B. Out!!!!!! D Grade: Faced the top side in Narre Warren last weekend and we knew it was going to be a tough task. To our girls credit, we narrowed the margin but a lot more than the last time we faced them, but to Narre Warrens credit they were just too good. We face Cranbourne this week to play off for Saturday finals spot! Prepare to work hard, leave nothing on the court and the result will come. Go Doves!

U15 Red: Proud doesn’t begin to describe what your coach, parents and club felt on Saturday! Knocking off the 2nd top team means now you enter finals winning against every single side in the competition. It is the confidence boost you girls needed. You controlled the game from the 1st quarter, our goalers lead from the front whilst our defenders really worked tirelessly against the whistle all day long. You 100% deserved that win, and we all cannot wait to see what you girls can achieve in 2 weeks’ time. Enjoy your last round of the home and away session against Cranbourne. Go doves!! U17 White: Well Done to my girls last week even though we didn’t win it was a great game and a big difference from last time we played them. To go down by only 5 that is a win to me compared to 40 well Done girls.

Well done to the team of volunteers at Doveton who coordinated the Long Walk and pre match ceremony to celebrate Multicultural Round. đ&#x;‘Ł It was Narre Warren’s first experience of night netball for our senior teams, while our junior teams enjoyed a sleep in.

With only one home and away game remaining for season 2017, we welcome Tooradin to Fox Road. Thank you to everyone has pitched in at our eight home games this year. They are MASSIVE days and every little bit of help is appreciated.

Hard to believe that we could possibly be playing our last game for the home and away season this week and yet here we are taking on the mammoth task that is Narre Warren.

This should be a spectacular display of netball and we look forward to watching our seagulls give it their all to reclaim the top spot that they have held for majority of the season.

We will be looking to continue our good form from last weeks games against Hampton Park.

Good luck to all teams!

It was a successful day at the courts with us recording 7/8 wins for the day. Our U15 Red girls put in a fantastic effort only going down by four goals. The progress these girls have made this season has been outstanding and they should all be proud of what they have achieved. D grade were under pressure and needed the win to get themselves back in the final five and came away with a five goal win slotting them into fifth place. Well done ladies keep that form going! This week sees some tough tasks across all 10 grades with C and D looking to continue and build on their form from the past few weeks and hold their finals positions. Our U13 Red will be playing a tough match in which a win could see them back to third position as we enter the finals. Without a doubt though all eyes across the league will be on the A grade clash which sees first and second fight it out for the top spot!

Aside from some great wins our biggest highlight for last week would hands down have to be the arrival of Julia and Mick Hobbs’ TWIN GIRLS Ivy Cate and Zoe Ellen! Two adorable little netballers to add to our Tooradin family. Both bubs are doing brilliantly as are Mum, Dad and big sister Lara. Congratulations to you all! Unfortunately amongst the ups this week we also had some downs with both Mary McGindle and Grace Iverach suffering the dreaded “knee” injury that will see them off the court for some time. Best of luck to both girls as you begin the road to recovery and we look forward to seeing you both back on the court when the time comes. Go Seagulls! Under 13s played the best game I’ve ever seen them play. They were rough, very very rough but we held together. Being down by one goal in the first quarter and only 3 down at half time really shows that when we work together, back each other up and smile, we can play so well! Our goaling was phenomenal shotting 16 out of 21 goals. Our Mid court was strong, used our resets just like we said and were patient with the ball. Our defence throughout the whole court was fantastic, every single person worked 100% and as a coach I cant ask for much more. So proud of all of you and how yours manage to walk off court smiling every week! Best on went to Ethan. Under 15s today produced a WIN!! Well done girls. Tooradin played well today and used your mistakes well. However you all played a great game with a well deserved win. Under 17s White went out today determined to win. We won the first quarter 8-5, but unfortunately Tooradin found their feet and we lost ours. We rushed passes, threw long and hard and fell apart in the second and third quarters. Each team member gave

100%, but we didn’t work as a team. Best on today was a hard choice but congrats Indi and Tori, you both deserved it. Under 17’s Red were hoping to come away with a win against Tooradin this week, we came hungry but not hungry enough. The last half we played the very best we could on day and I couldn’t have asked for more through away a few easy passes and dropped a few easy catches but really great game to watch! Best on Kiah. D grade had a tough first quarter today, down by 7, but the team lifted for the next 3 to hold Tooradin off. The one on one pressure was amazing creating turn overs nearly every time. Kayla and Chrissy moved well together for a first time combination, while Jacinta recovers from her illness. Thanks Bianca for playing today, you slotted in quite well today. B grade poor score didn’t reflect how well we played today. Great 2nd qtr effort to bring he scores back to even at half time. Tooradin made a change at 3 qtr time which saw them gain a massive lead that we couldn’t recover from. Leaves us with a must win game against Pakenham by a good margin.
