Emancipation Support Committee of Trinidad and Tobago invited Wale Idris Ajibade to deliver the opening lecture of our annual Kwame Ture Memorial Lecture Series which was held at the auditorium of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago on June 19, 2015. This is the publication of Wale Ajibade presentation at the 2015 event in Port of Spain. The lecture series which sets the stage for the commemoration of emancipation each year was originally named the Emancipation Lecture Series. In 1999 it was renamed to pay homage to the great pan-Africanist, Kwame Ture, who was born and spent his early years in Trinidad and Tobago. Over the succeeding years many great scholars, thinkers and activists of the African world who have distinguished the lecture series includes Winnie Mandela in 1998, Kathleen Cleaver in1999, H. E.
