As for the president of the CNC (National Council of Communication), he welcomed the improvement of relations between Burundian media and government. l est difficile dans ces jours de trouver l’essence dans la capitale Bujumbura.

The five permanent members did not agree about the decision to take. The special envoy of the UN Secretary General said that “the crisis could be a turning point”. Jamal Benomar fears the escalating of violence in Burundi following the assassinations that happened in Bujumbura last week. For the United States, it is better to support the deployment of 3,000 peacekeepers. However, Russia and China support the Burundian government option to send a dozen unarmed policemen. The representatives of France and Netherland in the UN in turn, recommended the hypothesis to deploy 228 police officers in order to increase UN presence in Burundi. From 2 to 6 May 2016, it was planned in Arusha, Tanzania an inclusive dialogue between Burundian opponents to try to end the crisis in Burundi. The Burundian government was still reluctant to take part in it. DRC accusses Kigali of recruiting ex-M23 to attack Burundi By Anglebert Niyoyitungira
T
he Democratic Republic of Congo accuses Rwanda of trying to give an alarming regional dimension to Burundi crisis by recruiting former rebels of the M23 to help reverse the Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza. In an interview to IRIN (Integrated Regional Information Networks), the spokesman of Congo government, Lambert Mende Omalanga accused Rwanda of having paid former M23 fighters in exile in Rwanda and Uganda, to strengthen the Burundi opposition to overthrow the government of Burundi. “We want the former M23 rebels to return home. There are some bad elements from Rwanda who recruit them
to fight in Burundi. We have arrested some of them in North Kivu and we will continue,” said Mende. The spokesman of the government of Congo says they cannot accept to see any Congolese involved in the destabilization of peace and security in neighboring countries. Reacting to these allegations, Rwanda’s ambassador to Uganda, General Frank Mugambage, said: “This is the rhetoric of illogical allegations made against Rwanda from Congo and other countries. That has never happened.” “This is a political poisoning. They are looking for a scapegoat. The time will tell better than l do.” Said
to IRIN, René Abandi, former Foreign Minister of M23 ‘. But General Edward Katumba Wamala, Chief of Uganda Defence Forces, said that Kampala would be “totally against” any attempt to recruit

T
he Parliament Wallonia- Brussels Federation has unanimously decided to award this year’s prize for Democracy and Human Rights to Burundi human rights defender, Pierre Claver Mbonimpa. Through his Association for the Protection of Human Rights and Detainees (APRODH), Pierre Claver Mbonimpa pledged in favor of human rights. Recently, he has clearly shown his position
against the third term of Burundi president Pierre Nkurunziza. Mr. Pierre Claver Mbonimpa was seriously involved in the fight against torture and
sexual violence even in this period of crisis where many young people were arbitrary arrested, tortured or killed.
In the current political turmoil in Burundi, Pierre Claver Mbonimpa lost one of his sons and his son-inlaw both killed in gunshot attacks. This happened after he had fled the country as he had himself been target of an assassination attempt of which he got out badly injured. The award, with a prize of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to him on wednesday afternoon on the occasion of the plenary session of Parliament.

Moments of pause between the tests have been reduced to recuperate the lost time. For candidates who did not find their names on the list due to error, Ms. Gasogo said they were allowed to do the examination and the verification process would follow without disturbing other candidates. Concerning the reason why the ministry decided to organize such competition which was done in previous years, Ms. Gasogo explained that it was due to the fact that at the end of secondary school, a number of pupils who want to continue their university studies in the Faculty of Medicine has increased. Therefore, an entrance exam is necessary to select the number of students needed in that faculty. Furthermore, Burundi has made this decision in order to conform to the standards of the East African Community (EAC) requiring only 100 students. As far as results of the exam are concerned, Ms. Gafoto promised that by the end of May, they will be available and that the claims and validation will be completed. Note that this examination was the second one organized in this perspective and it took place in three centers such as Ngozi (North), Makamba (South) and Bujumbura ( We s t ) w h e r e 1 1 5 0 candidates from the whole country were registered for doing the exam. A
