The Ghanaian Veterans Association in the United States is an association of ex-service men with the aim of supporting each other.
On Saturday July 30 their members joined comrade Ekow Grant to mourn his late father who died in Ghana and was performing his final funeral rites in Woodbridge, Virginia.
The President of the Association Mr. Roland Azure introduced the leadership of the association which included Nana Obuabasa his vice and other members who had travelled from various states to join them. He emphased that they are affiliated to the parent association of Ghanaian Veterans Association in Ghana but they are duly registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia and with the US IRS, as a non-government, non-religious, voluntary association, the membership of which is restricted, and exclusively reserved for individuals, who have ever served with the Ghana Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, and the erstwhile Border Guards of Ghana); and are currently residing in the Washington DC Metro Area, and its geographically adjourning states, ie West Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia. Consequently therefore no individual can become a member, unless the individual has ever served with the Ghana Armed Forces.
The group thereafter made a donation to Mr. Ekow Grant to support him as he mourned his late father the late Nana Assan Gyampafo II also an ex warrant officer in the Ghana army. The Aims & Objectives of the association, inter alia, are:
(1) To identify, mobilize, and promote unity among all veterans who reside in the metro area, and bring all, under one umbrella, in order to gain one voice in the Ghanaian community.
(2) To foster among all military veterans the spirit of comradeship, and to maintain closer links, and relationship with the Ghanaian community associations, and other faith-based organizations, in order to meaningfully interact, and assist in community development
(3). To uphold, preserve, and perpetuate, the traditions and deeds, of the military profession, at all times, as once a soldier, always a soldier.
(4) To promote the interest, general welfare, empowerment of members of the brotherhood, and the community at large, by extending assistance, to explore opportunities, in Ghana and in the United States. General meetings are held monthly, whilst Conference Calls are made weekly, to maintain the presence and continuity of the brotherhood.

Veteran actor George Williams has died
One of the pioneers of the Ghanaian movie industry, the ‘Ultimate Paradise’ actor is known for his grandpa roles in movies. George Williams taught at the Accra Film School for some time. He has been off the screens for some time now. Apart from Ultimate Paradise series, he featured in wellknown productions like ‘Bloody Kids’, Mama, Dogo Yaro and a host of others. Affectionately called Uncle George, George Williams was married with five children. The British-trained actor was arguably an unrivaled authority in film-making.

AGFUND Prize Funded Journey Of Hope Empowerment Program Presents Plastic Waste Bags To School Children In Ghana
The Recnowa Initiative an innovative not-for-profit initiative that rescues plastic and other material waste creating environmental havoc in Ghana and helps disadvantaged and vulnerable street youth succeed in life with careers in the recycling industry as part of its activities marking the end of its 12 month Journey of Hope Empowerment Program for street youth has donated backpacks made from plastic waste to school children from deprived communities in Sekyere Afram Plains. The Journey of Hope Empowerment Program which includes extensive mentoring life skills, entrepreneurship and transferring of technology in recycling of plastic waste into reusable products such as bags,furniture,home decor etc. During the entire 12-month programme, the street youth were provided with housing, clothing, food, medical care and mentorship.
Having ended the project successfully which included the recycling of plastic waste into useful products,Recnowa Initiative has presented 100 backpacks made from plastic water sachets to some selected school children in the Sekyere Afram Plains District.
In all,100 hundred school children who are arguably disadvantaged in society and were selected from basic school class three to six of two schools received backpacks made from plastic water sachets.The bags are accompanied by well researched and beautifully presented educational materials that give the children access to educational games and activities related to environmental protection,hygiene and community building.
Recnowa’s Initiative objectives of this project are to emphasize the importance of education while promoting recycling and reusing plastic waste.Additionally, ensuring a sustainable environment is a major part of any country’s growth,so recycling and responsible waste management is essential.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony the Founder/President of Recnowa Initiative Mr Kwaku Kyei urged the school pupils to use the bag as a point of positive change towards taking keen interest in goods that were produced by local people since that was the only way to improve on the socio-economic conditions of Ghanaians.
He also urged the children to take their studies serious if they wanted to occupy very important position not only in their communities but life in general.
A class five pupil of Dagomba Primary School, Afua Serwaa, who spoke on behalf her mates thanked Recnowa Initiative for the key development role it is playing towards creating an enabling society for all.

An Assistant Headmistress of the Dagomba Primary School Mrs Ellen Ansah, disclosed that the bag would go a long way to motivate their children to learn hard since most of them come to school without bags.
He raised serious concerns over the irresponsible attitude of some parents in the area and took the opportunity and urged parents not to shirk responsibilities.
The Assistant headmistress appealed to Recnowa Initiative to come back to rescue the school with their innovative plastic waste microflush toilets built with plastic bottles to provide decent toilet facility for the school children who do not have access to a proper place of convenience.

Nigerians Welcome First Lady Aisha Buhari In Grand Style In Washington
Nigerians in the Diaspora on Wednesday August 4th cheered the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, as she arrived the Dulles International Airport in Washington DC, United States. On arrival she was received by the Nigerian Embassy envoy, some Nigerian state governors’ wives, the Zumunta Association, USA chapter, and Nigerians in diaspora.
Aisha is on a ten-day visit where she will attend a number of special events including the 25th Anniversary celebration of Zumunta Association USA Inc; the United States Institute of Peace in collaboration with Voice of America media organization and the bilateral meetings at the George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
According to the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC, Mrs Buhari arrived on a British Airways flight from London.

Somalia’s First Female Presidential Candidate
Fadumo Dayib is the first woman to run for president of Somalia. And she has some pretty high expectations of what she would like to achieve if she’s elected president of a country that’s faced over two decades of instability.
Her nickname Deeqo means “sufficient” and was given to her because she was the first child in the family to survive. There were eleven kids born before, all of whom died of preventable diseases. This identity—the 12th child—is at the root of her motivation to serve humanity by devoting her career to the health and, now, running for office. Dayib was born in Thika, Kenya where her mother migrated after losing her kids. They were deported back to Somalia in 1989. When the civil war started in Somalia in 1990 Dayib fled to Finland with her sibling as unaccompanied minors. Here she spent 26 years as a refugee but always with her Somali roots in mind. Living in Finland, she says, has given her many privileges that she wouldn’t likely have had in her own country. She wasn’t fully literate until age 14. Since then, Dayib has received several degrees in international public health, including one from Harvard University. Currently she is a doctoral candidate at the University of Helsinki.
Somalia is still very male-dominated, so when Dayib announced her bid for president, many people had a hard time believing it. Contrary to expectations, Dayib believes that as president, she will be the one to put an end to the Al-Shabab rebellion.

As part of their Commmunity Engagement initiatives the Thoronka Law Office organized an immigration forum at the Woodbridge campus of the Northnern Virginia Community College to help educate the community on immigration issues, citizenship rights and address issues confronting immigrants in the United States. The panelist who were drawn from various sectors gave thorough insights into issues of concern to the community. One isssue they all touched on was the need for the Immigrant Community to foster a common front and build one voice to be able to address their concerns. A Senator Tim Kaines Office representative spoke about the services available to constituents and how they could connect with their senator.

Alexandria based Favor House Ministries hosted the “Daughters of Glorious Jesus” one of the most acclaimed Ghanaian Gospel Music Groups from Ghana in a musical concert on Sunday July 24, 2016. The award winning gospel trio comprise of Cynthia Appiadu, Edna Sarpong, and their friend Monica Owusu Ansah. Their numerous albums and hit songs have made them a household name in Ghana and they have ministered at various church crusades and conventions all over the world. In the course of their ministration Cynthia Appiadu the leader of the group expressed her appreciation to Rev. Lord Asante Boadu of Calvary Life Ministries in Maryland for hosting them on their current visit and supporting all their activities on their tour. The Faith Family Choir and Rev. Emmanuel Nickson of True Way Multimedia Concept performed various selections to entertain the guests before the Daughters of Glorious Jesus took the stage and performed some of their hit songs.

he choices we generally have to make in life are simple. Our choice is to do or not to do. However, we are beset with so many petty and unnecessary behaviors and characteristics that the very simple and wise choices we ought to make are often the ones that we fail to make. We consciously make a left turn, when a situation actually calls for a right turn. Then we find ourselves in hot and undesirable spots. We regress instead of progress. We have the power in our hands to make the right choice, but forego that choice too often and choose a path that is not beneficial but harmful. It will be wise for us to pause and, guided by the word of God, choose the right path. We should progress, not regress. There are basic characteristic weaknesses that hinder us from advancing on various levels. They present themselves in impatience, anger, lying, gossiping, cheating, backbiting, insulting, swindling, wastefulness, stealing, jealousy, argumentativeness, selfishness, greediness, slothfulness and so on. We can become easily entangled in these characteristics as if they are webs. But these are webs that could very well be averted, because they are quite visible to the eye. Yet, we walk into these webs then when caught in them, we find that we are awkwardly and desperately attempting to free ourselves from their unpleasant, yet very real attachment to us. Instead of allowing such mannerisms to hinder us, let us rather vow to set ourselves apart from these behavioral downfalls. Let us choose that our names will not be referenced as a source of lies and gossip. Let us choose that we will not be remotely associated with speaking hypocritically. Let us choose that we will not be labeled as lazy, incompetent, weak or untrustworthy. Let us choose that in future instances, we will project strength and integrity. Let us choose to abide in God’s will. That though it can be very easy, we will not allow ourselves to become victims of our weaknesses. Let us consciously acknowledge these issues in our beings and choose to let our better selves prevail. We shall rather give in to strength and not to weakness. Scenario #1 You work in an environment with various people and personalities. The office is not only a place where current events and entertainment news are discussed, but it is also a space where employees gossip about each other, mixing up truth, lies and rumors. You are a part of this environment and someone comes to you with a negative report about another co-worker. What do you do? Do you listen and join in with your own input and
even make inquiries regarding the dirt being dished, desiring to be well fed with this new gossip? Today, I will say to my sister or brother to give in to strength. Don’t see this as an opportunity to have your hearing and curiosity satisfied with hot and juicy gossip. Rather, shut the itching ear and rest the gossiping tongue. It is easy for us all to walk into the trap of gossiping and even backbiting, especially if we think the person deserves it. But we can do better. We can turn off our hearing to the gossip and instead of engaging in it, abstain from it with a deafening silence. I know a woman who when someone comes to her with gossip about another, would say to the gossiper, “let me go and ask her (the victim of the gossip) if it is true and can I tell her that you are the one who told me this?” What typically happens here is that the gossiper would refuse to be referenced or even associated with the gossip. When this happens, then this lady would say, “then don’t come to me with any such information again.” And of course, that person never returns to her with any more innuendo. This woman could have easily fallen victim to gossip by satisfying her itching ears and enjoyed the pleasures of privately gossiping about another, but she chooses to give in to strength. That is strength of character. She chooses not to become entangled in a web of confusion and lies. Can we all do that? Scenario #2 A couple is highly involved in their church with their services and financial giving. The entire church knows them well and acknowledges that they are good Christians. However, during one fundraising event in their church, they pledged to sell a property and give all its proceeds to the church. But when they sold it and realized that the property yielded more money than they had anticipated parting with, they conspired to keep a part of the proceeds and give only a portion to the church. As it would turn out, when they came to offer the sum to the church, the pastor asked them if the amount they were offering was the full proceeds from the sale of the property. United in their lie, they insisted that their offering was the full amount. There and then, the couple fell dead, for they had lied not simply to the pastor, but they had lied to the Holy Spirit of God. Here, this couple allowed themselves to be victims of covetousness, greediness, swindling, thievery and a lying tongue. Had the couple known that they would have gotten sick or even die by lying and keeping part of the money, I am sure they would not have made that poor decision. But the fact is that choosing to do the right thing shouldn’t be based on what you think people might know or find out, but it should be based on what you know to be the better thing to do. This couple, Ananias and Sapphira (as accounted in Acts 5), chose to lust after money instead of honoring their vows. What basic commandments do we fail to observe? Does it have to do with tithing, offering, paying our vows to God? Sometimes in the midst of hardships, we make vows to God and when God answers our prayers, we seem to compromise our word. We try to play with God as if He has forgotten that we made a vow to Him or as if God doesn’t need us to honor that vow. We vow, “Lord, if you open the door for me to get a job, I will do this and that….” If

you make a way for me to come to the United States or England and change my life’s course, I will do this and that for you…” “If you hear my prayers, have mercy on me and grant my desire to bear a child of my own, I will do this and that….” In our need and desperation, we make such vows and promises and when we get what we need, then we pretend to have spiritual amnesia or simply brush off our vows. Unlike the couple above who not only broke their vow but also lied, let’s give in to strength. Let us do what we have promised to do. Honoring our vows might be more challenging than lying and withholding from God, but it shows the strength of our character; it shows integrity and moreover, it will be a further blessing unto us. Besides, can we afford to handle the repercussions of breaking a vow to God? We suffer such repercussions all the time, but because we are not spiritually engaged, or because we have brushed off our infraction as nothing at all, we are clueless about the source of some hardships we face. Scenario #3 Lastly, let us consider the situation of Jesus and the disciples on the eve of His crucifixion. When Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, He took along with Him His three most trusted disciples, Peter, James and John. “He said to them, ‘my soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me’…and He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed…” He was trusting them to support Him in His hour of need. He needed them to pray, for He knew the tremendous course ahead of Him as well as them. Yet, each time He returned from prayer, He saw that they had fallen asleep. When He found them asleep, He said to Peter, “so you men could not keep watch with Me for an hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matt. 26:38-41). When you read the events surrounding the crucifixion of Christ, you can plainly see how the disciples deserted Jesus although they had sworn to Him that they would be with Him even unto death. Did they intentionally lie? Probably not, because they felt and believed that they loved Him so much so that they would support Him in spite of what may come. Would you have been able to honor your word to Christ even as Peter, James, and John could not? The Lord Jesus Himself knew that the men were genuine with their intentions when He told them “keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” The lesson here is not that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak as we all are guilty of quoting this scripture and using it as an excuse. Rather, the lesson here is that we should be careful to keep watching and praying that we may not enter into temptation. While we can never be perfect, we can do better with the help of God if we are indeed careful to watch and pray so that we do not fall into temptation. If we are conscious and desirous of watching and praying, then we would be careful not to fall into a gossiping or lying habit. If we are careful to watch and pray, then we will even be fearful to make a vow to God and then turn around and break it after God has graciously answered our prayers. Finally, if we are careful to watch and pray, then we will be faithful to God in the area of ministry that He has called us into, instead of falling asleep on the job or simply quitting the work He has entrusted to us, because it became challenging. If we are able to do these things, then we are giving in to strength and our Father above could only be proud of us as He was of His servants Job, Abraham and Moses. Can we give into strength? Of course!

If you thought the crazy things done by pastors and self-professed men of God were over, you’re in for more surprises. After news went round that a pastor was making congregants carry him on their backs while he’s preaching, another one is now selling the “blood of Jesus.”
The congregant said it doesn’t matter what people would say, pointing out that as ECG fraternity, they understand the power of the blood in addressing problems and that “people are on the move to drag our fathers name into disrepute but God elevated him.”

According to the self-acclaimed man of God, Mary Bushiri who is also a prophetess has been impregnated by the Holy Ghost and sooner than later. The world will see the Rebirth of second Jesus by the name of “Major Jesus”.

Maranatha Prayer Conference (MPC) http://www.maranathaprayerconference.org has concluded its sixth annual international conference at the Marriott Hotel Chantily, Virginia, United States. Prominent U.K. – based, African-born minister Rev. Dr. Jones Boateng was the guest speaker for the conference which focused on Deliverance and Altars, and Dr. Samuell Addy was the conference host. Dr. Boateng was the main speaker for last year’s conference held in McClean, Virginia.
Speaking to a group of mostly African-born Christian believers from across the United States and Canada, Rev. Boateng taught about the negative implications of evil covenants, traditional practices, animal sacrifices, rites and rituals, customs and festivals, on individuals, communities, and nations. Using scriptures to back his teaching, he explained that much of Africa’s development challenges, and challenges encountered by individuals are a result of covenants and spiritual agreements made with spirits resident in shrines, amulets, water bodies and trees.
Making references to common practices in many African cultures where parents consult shrines and false prophets in times of crisis, he explained that those consultations only provided short term fixes in exchange for long term payback. Basing his teachings on the primary reason for which God created mankind:
“Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28
He taught that trends like poverty, non-productivity, setbacks, evil cycles, evil dreams, disappointments, failures, bareness, strife, wars, and retrogression seen especially in African communities and nations are contradictory to God’s word, and therefore a form of bondage.
“Deliverance is to release oneself from captivity – any form of captivity, and fulfill God’s ordained destiny in totality. The only one who can bring deliverance is Jesus Christ, not a pastor prophet or witchdoctor, and with God nothing is impossible” He said
Rev. Boateng believes there is a place for culture but warned that culture and cultural practices that engages spirits other than the Spirit of the One True God is unbiblical and consequently counterproductive to human progress and development. He added that those who criticize deliverance especially in the church do so naively because they assume that ungodly covenants are automatically broken after one becomes a believer.

The African passport has finally been launched and the first two copies issued at the 27th African Union (AU) summit in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.
The outgoing Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr Dlamini-Zuma issued the first two copies to Chairperson of the AU and Chadian president, Idris Deby Itno and Rwandan president Paul Kagame.
According to Dr. Dlamini-Zuma, even though the initial plan was to issue the passports to Heads of State, Foreign affairs ministers and top diplomats, the AU had been overwhelmed by calls from many who want to share in the privilege of holding African passports.
She therefore appealed that nations should accept the challenge to issue the African passports to their respective nationals within their own processes.
Dlamini-Zuma in delivering her last address as AU Chairperson, spoke about the successes the Commission has chalked among others championing the rights of women, the launch of the African passport and championing youth involvement in the continent’s journey into the future.
She challenged the next commission to focus on achieving all indicators towards the Agenda 2063 dream that had been set. The AU is expected to choose a new Chairperson to run the affairs of the Commission for the next four years.

Frederick Singer Releases First Album, ‘Thank God For Life’

With the release of her album in July , Sandra Johnson hopes to draw people to God as she realizes a dream she has held for years.
Johnson, who wrote each song on the album, started creating her own songs in elementary school. “It’s been, like, a passion that I’ve had as a secret thing with me, and I’ve written so many songs,” she said.
The Frederick resident recalled writing a song in the fifth grade about her desk being clean. In the past, she would also write songs about her friends’ personalities. But she didn’t view her singing and songwriting as a talent or tell her parents about her musical drive. Her father, she said, would want her to pursue “something better” than a career in music. Johnson, who consults as a project manager and business analyst, held onto music over the years, continuing to write and performing at churches and various events. But July 30 will mark a special debut, as Johnson pursues her passion for music and releases her first album, “Thank God For Life.” Johnson, 38, goes by Sandy Jay as a musician. She described her music as inspirational. The album, which she started planning in December 2013, includes six songs with different music styles that reflect a range of influences from a diverse set of friends. The song that shares the album title has a techno feel, she said. “Coming Back” has a blues vibe, and “Saturday Night” mixes pop with a Caribbean beat. While her songs include Christian messages and Biblical references, she hopes her music will be played in both religious and nonreligious settings. Johnson looks to gospel singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe, describing her wide appeal and the deep messages found in her songs. “I don’t want to impose my religion on people,” she said, adding that she’d “like every kind of person to be able to listen to my music.” Johnson said she sees a lot of people outside the Christian church who she might reach through her music. She hopes that listeners of her songs who are non-religious, particularly youth who think the church is boring, will be drawn to her music and as a result learn about the lyrics and about her identity as a Christian. “My goal is to be able to win souls for Christ,” she said. Her songs cover a variety of topics. One of them, “Miracle,” is about her daughter, whose lungs collapsed when she was 1 year old. Johnson said she was told her daughter wouldn’t
Johnson’s decision to name the album “Thank God For Life” was based on her experience watching her mother deal with sickness. Her mother didn’t show a will to live, Johnson said. That response made Johnson think about appreciating life and the little things in it, and the idea that God delivers people from hardships. “You don’t have to give up if something happens in your life,” she said. “That is not the end of life.”
After production costs are covered, Johnson said, part of the proceeds from the project will go to the Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and Frederick Memorial Hospital, where Johnson’s mother received treatment for a stroke. After seeing a large amount of debt from her mother’s treatment, she plans for that money to be directed to stroke patients and their families, she said.
Johnson is seeking sponsorships from businesses to help cover the cost of the project. She said she put more than $10,000 of her own money into creating the album. She plans to give something in return for each sponsorship, such as a performance at an event or copies of the album.

The event which took place in Worcester (Massachusetts) saw Abraham Attah picking up the honorary award for his achievements and was presented with a key to the city of Massachusetts by the Mayor Joseph M. Morocco asks to rejoin African Union after 32 years
Morocco has formally announced its wish to rejoin the African Union, 32 years after leaving the organisation. In a message to the AU summit in Rwanda, the Moroccan King Mohammed VI said the time had come for his country to retake its place within its institutional family.
Morocco left the AU in 1984, after the organisation recognised the independence of Western Sahara. Moroccans describe Western Sahara as their country's "southern provinces". For more than three decades, Morocco has refused to be part of the organisation. In March, it threatened to pull its soldiers out of UN global peacekeeping missions because of the dispute. Now, the Moroccan authorities seem to have concluded their absence hasn't helped them diplomatically over Western Sahara and many other issues, says the BBC's Africa Reporter James Copnall. They sent a special envoy to lobby African leaders at their summit in the Rwandan capital Kigali this weekend. The AU has said that it will continue pushing for the rights of the people of Western Sahara to hold a self-determination referendum. Morocco is the only African country which is not an AU member. 1975-76: Morocco annexes two-thirds of Western Sahara after colonial power Spain withdraws. 1975-76: Polisario Front declares the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), with a government-in-exile in Algeria. In a conversation with TheAfricanDream.net Olivia said one of her goals was to be able to offer ALHC’s services to clients in her native Ghana specifically to the elderly in need of Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Dementia Care among others in related conditions.
In a conversation with TheAfricanDream.net Christiana Afotey said “each scholarship goes towards the winning candidate’s tuition costs for any University in Ghana” explaining that “the scholarship was established in memory of my late mother Mrs. Fedelia Adokailey Mensah.”
Ten qualified student candidates across respective high schools in Ghana will be awarded with the Mrs. Fedelia Adokailey Mensah Scholarship award. Each award would have a value of $250 US Dollars and will be awarded to the winning candidates in March 2017 during which they will be notified by a surprise visit to their classrooms.

As she recounts her inspiration for the founding of ALHC to TheAfricanDream.net Olivia said when her grandmother fell and broke her hip in Ghana and got hospitalized for a long time she saw the toll it had on the entire family especially her mother. There were times when she personally had to take time off personal activities to care for her grandmother.
“Those were some hard times on my family and even though they never complained about the situation I knew it was not easy for them. The Lorain Horizon Science Academy in Ohio is facing heat from the natural hair community after a copy of a letter to parents that included a ban on afro puffs and ‘small twisted braids’ was posted online.
The letter details changes to the dress code for the upcoming school year and includes the line:

Afro-puffs and small twisted braids, with our without rubberbands, are NOT permitted.
It’s unclear what the administration means by small twisted braids, but if they are referring to box braids they are banning a protective style that black girls have worn for generations. Afropuffs are essentially the black version of the ponytail (when pulled back our hair puffs out instead of laying down), and yet the rules do not have a ban on ponytails for students of other ethnicities.

PASTOR DISGUISES HIMSELF AS A DESTITUTE.
Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000- member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor that morning. He walked around the church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service in which only 3 people out of the about 10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back. He greeted people only to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him. As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such.When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation. “We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek.” The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation. The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with all eyes on him. He walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment then he recited: “Then the King will say to those on his right,‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning. Many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame. He then said, “Today I see a gathering of people, not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples. When will YOU decide to become disciples?” Popcorns are normally fried in the same pot, in the same oil, at the same time and under the same heat conditions. But they do not all pop at the same time. When flood comes, fish eat ants. When flood recede, ants eat fish. Only time matters. To make soap, oil is required. But to clean oil, soap is required. This is the irony of life. Everybody needs somebody at one point in time. Do not despise or treat anyone with scorn when they are excel or failing more than you. There is time for everything and for everyone. Keep trusting in God and waiting for your turn. Your time to pop will come at God's appointed time. NEVER GIVE UP!! NEVER LATE TO START.

"Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife. "Go out and invite Love to be our guest."
The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest."
Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"
The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!!!!!"

In the Catholic Church couples may seek to have their union officially recognized by the Church in order to have communion with God. The program which was initiated by the Recnowa Initiative was funded by the Arab Gulf Fund.13 trainees graduated from ‘The Journey of Hope Empowerment Program’ which prepares participants to gain and maintain meaningful employment and equip them with professional skills.They were provided with paid skill training in the recycling of plastic waste into different fashionable and usable products, entrepreneurship development,business management, bookkeeping,marketing,ICT training etc The beneficiaries who were offered sustainable housing during their 12 month training also benefited from core topics such as work-appropriate dress, opening a checking and savings account, personal health care, and best practices for securing contracts and business interviews. Speaking at the graduation ceremony the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Youth Authority Mr Apraku Fofie was full of praise to the Recnowa Initiative for spearheading the capacity building program which has permanently removed 13 street youth from the streets of Kumasi. Mr Apraku noted that due to lack of education and parental care,most young people who migrated from Northern Ghana to seek for greener pastures in the South ended up on the streets of Kumasi, become idle and taken to various nefarious activities in the bid to make ends meet.
He emphasized that due to the lack of economic empowerment for these street youth the youth who are the backbone of such communities have not been able to contribute meaningfully to community and national development.
“When you take a critical look at all the street youth parading on the streets of Kumasi one thing that stands out is the cycle of poverty. Majority of the youth who are energetic have no skills either through education or vocational training and are therefore finding ways and means to put body and soul together to survive
in this world. This phenomenon is through no fault of theirs as it has been a generational thing”, he added.
Mr. Apraku noted that the Journey of Hope Empowerment Program which was sponsored by AGFUND to empower the street youth in Kumasi to be more independent, responsible and resourceful in order to contribute meaningfully to the upkeep of their families and society was worthwhile. In an interview with the Founder and President of Recnowa Initiative Mr Kwaku Kyei said Kumasi is estimated to host more than 10,000 children and youth on the streets who engage in survival tactics that endanger their well being and that of the society. "Most of them are abused, neglected, exposed to criminal and gang activities, suffer poor health due to their lifestyles and exposure to harsh environment, drug and substance abuse, and exposure to HIV/AIDS infection", he lamented.He said the large numbers of children who live and work in the streets is a reflection of some of the most intractable development challenges of the society, which he attributed to lack of proper education and family guidance in upbringing. Mr Kyei said the Journey of Hope Empowerment Program is the first real chance for many street youth to transition from poverty and life on the streets to the dignity of self-sufficiency with a successful career in plastic recycling industry. This allows them to provide for themselves, their families, and to contribute to the development of their country as a whole. He was full of praise to the Agfund prize for their generous support and funding to the project and call on AGFUND to assist the Recnowa Initiative to expand and build on the success of the project.

Nigerian football is in a state of shock after an astonishing 26 players failed age tests carried out ahead of an Under-17 African Cup of Nations qualifier, according to a report.
Africanfootball.com reports that a mandatory MRI screening carried out on 60 eligible players showed almost half were ineligible to play.
The existing first XI was far more badly hit, however, with only two players passing the MRI test - an astonishing blow for a squad which won the FIFA U17 World Cup last year for a record fifth time.
MRI tests have been used for several years to prevent age fraud in football, and are considered 99% accurate up to the age of 17.
"It is a disaster,” a Nigerian official told the website.
"Virtually the first team the coaches have been working on have been disqualified. It’s a serious problem.”
The players who failed the tests have now left the training camp in Abuja, where they were staying ahead of Saturday's Cup of Nations U17 qualifying match against Niger.
"Several of the players were in tears and total shock when the final results came through," adds Samm Audu's report on Africanfootball.com.
"Among those who flung the age test was a star striker, who came through the national U15 team and has been outstanding in training leading up to Saturday’s AFCON qualifier.
"Another promising player disqualified only recently forced his way into the starting XI of coach Manu Garba’s team after a late call-up."
It's not the first time that age fraud has been discovered in the Nigerian youth system: back in 1989 the nation's youth teams were banned for two years for faking players' birth dates at the 1988 Olympics, for example.
It did not stop after that, however. In 2010 former Nigerian FA president Anthony Kojo Williams told the BBC: "We use over-age players for junior championships, I know that. Why not say it? It's the truth. We always cheat. It's a fact. When you cheat, you deprive the young stars that are supposed to play in these competitions their rights.
A Ghanaian doctor based in Perth, Australia, Dr. Kwasi Yeboah, has been making the headlines across the globe after he performed roadside surgery without anaesthesia on a man involved in a fatal road accident.
The victim known as Simon was returning to Perth when the unfortunate incident took place and was critically injured with multiple broken bones and a punctured lung.
Dr. Kwasi Yeboah, a registrar at the Royal Perth Hospital, was the saviour on the day when he chanced upon the accident after missing his turn in search of mangoes at a mango farm.
Having come across the victim, who was in a critical situation, Dr. Yeboah believed the only decision was to operate him right there if there was any chance of him surviving.
“I was going to find mangoes to buy on a mango farm and I think I missed my turning or I couldn’t find the sign so I kept driving north.
“It was chaotic and hard to describe as there were cars driving past and people pulling up as well and at a distance running across the road, I didn’t think he will make it.
“At that time the assessment was that he had a tension pneumothorax which is a life threatening condition and could be fatal.
“He was deteriorating before our eyes, his blood pressure was going down, his heart rate was rising, his oxygen level was dropping, and I thought he was going to die.
“Anything you do for a patient is a calculated risk and at that time it was a calculated risk that had to be made within seconds.
“He was going to have a cardiac arrest so I said to him, mate I am going to do something which is going to hurt, but it will save your life, then he put his hand on my knee and said go for it.
The Helicopter
“When he was ready for transfer back into the helicopter, he deteriorated again so he kept saying doc doc doc you’ve got to do something so I run back, and they took him out of the ambulance unto the road and then I had to open up his chest again through the old wound to let out the air trapped in his chest.”
The victim after four months is still in a wheelchair and is expected to walk again.

Kingslight Chapel International Holds International Day Service and Food Tasting Event

As part of activities marking the Church’s 7th Anniversary the Kingslight Chapel which boasts of members from about 10 different nationalities on Sunday July 31, hosted their annual International day event at the Sheba Temple in Woodbridge, Virginia. The congregation colorfully dressed in their native traditional attires, sang songs and gave well wishing messages in their native languages. The following countries were represented; Liberia, Jamaica, Sierra-Leone, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, The United States, Togo, Cameroon and Ghana. The Ghanaian congregation were represented by various tribal groupings being Ewes, Ashantis, Ga Adangbe’s and Fantes .
